Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

Level 3 day 2 complete. Still doing travelling push ups and plank rows on my knees. I’d forgotten how much she flirts with Natalie.

DD (9) did level 1 this morning - it will be interesting to see if she does it again!

Lift & Shred L1 D8 done, and I’m stopping there and switching to L2 at the weekend. DD bailed again this morning, letting her off as it’s half term.

HermioneWeasley · 28/05/2020 10:37

What’s “lift and shred”?

This: Lift&Shred

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 28/05/2020 10:54

I don't know why the German version was the first to come up Confused.

HermioneWeasley · 28/05/2020 10:55

Thanks, I’d had been wondering what I’d keep doing after this. I do have another of her dvds - possibly ripped in 30?

I don’t know what I’ll do when the gym reopens - doing the DVD’s is definitely pushing me harder than I push myself at the gym

L3 D1 done ✅

I am so sweaty...but I survived

GeraldTippett · 28/05/2020 19:53

Well done Wally. I think that first strength circuit in L1 is really tough - one of the toughest in the whole thing. Bloody press ups!

Calm are you still alive after the rock stars and supermans?!

Well I'm reconsidering my plan of 2 x BFBM then 1 x NMTZ then rest day and repeat. I did my second NMTZ today and upped the weights but I just feel really unfamiliar with the routine and can't remember which weight I need for each exercise. I spend so long chopping and changing that I'm not actually getting the work done!

So I'm considering doing the 2 workouts alternately rather than 2:1 BFBM. My concern is though that I won't be maximising the fat burning which is really my priority (4kg till I'm finally in the normal BMI zone). I do feel like I get a good workout with NMTZ and drip with sweat throughout but my heart rate definitely isn't kept so high in NMTZ. I could do with toning up my arms for the summer though...

What to do, what to do? Any advice?

CalmConfident · 28/05/2020 20:06

The superman’s were ok...but the rock stars...what new hell were they ?!!

GeraldTippett · 28/05/2020 21:15

It's always the day after that I feel the supermans. My poor back! And the buggers have turned up in BOTH NMTZ and BFBM so there is no escape Shock

Todayisanewday75 · 29/05/2020 06:57

L3D9 today - the end is in sight!

calmconfident the rockstars are not good for my knees so I do the skaters from level 2 instead. Jumping lunges don’t feel right either so I do Anitas lunges with 4kg weights for added resistance.

hermioneweasley RI30 is definitely harder than the shred, I think the first level is equivalent to the third level of the shred. The only easier aspect is that the strength is 3 X 30 second intervals

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 29/05/2020 09:43

Killer Cardio L1D8 done.

I totally agree that Ripped in 30 is harder than the Shred. I can do Natalie’s version of all the Shred moves except the rock stars (I worry too much about my knees with those, there doesn’t seem to be a way of not slamming into the floor), but I have to modify a lot of RI30 from L2 on.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 29/05/2020 10:21

I did lift and shred the other night. It’s not the same exhausting feeling but actually suits me better as I do enough cardi.

I was sore the next day.

CalmConfident · 29/05/2020 14:10

L3 D2 done ✅

In the garden...not ideal decision...so hot! My lunges were a bit better today but was in bits by the end Blush

Todayisanewday75 · 30/05/2020 08:52

Aiming for L3D10 today, followed by some pilates. Then tomorrow is definitely a rest day

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 30/05/2020 11:05

Tried out Killer Cardio L2 today. Much more evil than L1 - burpees feature. And squat thrusts, which are my least favourite exercise ever.

GeraldTippett · 30/05/2020 19:32

I cant imagine any worse cardio than BFBM, Professor. I just hate it! Perhaps I need to try out Killer Cardio to make me realise it's actually not so bad and I need to quit my whining!

Did you manage to do it Today? Congratulations!

I'm going to do NMTZ tomorrow then BFBM again on Monday. Then a glorious rest day Wink

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 30/05/2020 22:14

It can’t be as bad as BFBM, it’s much shorter! Only 25 minutes for each workout. But I hate cardio so that’s quite enough suffering for me.

HermioneWeasley · 31/05/2020 09:03

Level 3 D3 today. Realised I did it straight through without having to pause the dvd to catch my breath enough to carry on - that’s a milestone.

I’ve decided to swap out jumping lunges because of my knees and the first plank exercises because I don’t feel like it’s doing anything for me

OP posts:
CalmConfident · 31/05/2020 10:13

L3 D3 done ✅

Shred snap with @HermioneWeasley . I did not “phone it in” today and my jumping lunges were a bit more stable. I also found I can do a rock star if I do them slower and psyche myself up to it Grin

HermioneWeasley · 31/05/2020 12:52

You’re doing better than me Calm! Awesome!

OP posts:
CalmConfident · 31/05/2020 16:28

We can do this!!! Only 7 more to go...then we’ll be shredded Star

Paddingtonthebear · 31/05/2020 16:43

Has anyone had any success with any Jillian Michaels routines reducing cellulite?

CalmConfident · 01/06/2020 08:14

L3 D4 done ✅

New month, extra determination.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 01/06/2020 08:58

Well done to all of us for keeping going!

Lift&Shred L2D1 done here. More jumping and combination moves than L1, so just as my 8 kg weights have finally arrived I don't think I can use them!
