Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

Oubliette I think RI30 is my nemesis, I have given up on it so many times. Last time I got to level 3 but just found a couple of the moves impossible

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 19/05/2020 08:50

GeraldTippett, I don’t have BFBM so can’t really compare. Killer Cardio is shorter - each workout is 25 minutes - so I find it much easier to fit into our day than her longer workouts. We haven’t tried L2 yet but L1 isn’t very hard: it’s HIIT training with a pause after each move so feels a bit less relentless than the Shred.

Oubliette, you are an inspiration: I’ve done RI30 several times but I’ve always had to modify the L3 and L4 moves. I’m considering moving onto it when we’re done with both our current DVDs.

Lift & Shred L1 D4 done.

sparklesandmoresparkles · 19/05/2020 09:04

L2D2 done! I do feel like I want to die and even my forearms are sweating Grin
I keep looking at the others but just can’t get out of bed find the time at the minute. I quite fancy the kettlebell one though. How do you find it evilharpy?

Let us know how you get on Gerald!

BookSkark · 19/05/2020 09:50

I'm back on this as well! Been doing Joe Wicks with DD but decided it wasn't quite evil enough, so 30DS it is. L1D1 today and Joe must have been doing me some good, as I could generally keep up (apart from the evil anterior raises with side lunges).

I've also got RI30 but don't think I've ever got past L2 on that one but maybe now is the time!

I can't remember if I could notice a difference from these in the past, but I figure it must be doing me some good. And especially now I'm working from home, I'm not really moving around much during the day, so at least it gets me up off my backside. And gives me an excuse to buy some new workout gear...

GeraldTippett · 19/05/2020 16:06

Six Week Six Pack completed - wahoo! 15 sessions at each level completed in just under 6 weeks. Level 2 was a real killer but oddly I felt L1 targeted the abs more. Will be interesting to see how my progress pictures compare when I take them on Friday (the 6 week anniversary!)

So pleased to have finished the bastard of a thing. If I've achieved nothing else during lockdown, it's that Grin

evilharpy · 19/05/2020 20:57

sparklesandmoresparkles I quite liked it although I haven't tried L2 yet. I haven't done it today as I've done two live classes but might have another go tomorrow. I have a 6kg and 8kg but only used the 6kg as my fitness is a bit shit at the moment. Some of the moves I think the 8kg would have been better.

CalmConfident · 20/05/2020 08:19

L2 D7 done ✅

It definitely suits me better to do this first thing in a morning and get it over with :)

sparklesandmoresparkles · 20/05/2020 08:32

Interesting what you say about Joe Wicks compared to 30DS, BookShark. I was wondering last week how that compares. I can’t do it with our 2 as there isn’t enough room and awkward work people keep booking meetings for 9am Hmm. But was thinking I might do some of the older ones when I’ve finished in between.

Well done Gerald! Star Let me know what BFBM is like. I’m not really a big fan of just cardio these days, but I definitely have a fair bit of fat to banish now!

Thanks evilharpy - I might get that one later on then. I’ve got a set of kettlebells up to 8kg, so it would be good to get some use out of them.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 20/05/2020 09:37

Killer Cardio L1D4 done. We're going to carry on to the end of next week before moving on to L2.

I totally agree it's best to get it done first thing, it doesn't happen here otherwise!

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 20/05/2020 09:38

Oh and well done Gerald! I've just bought 6W6P but may delay doing anything with it...

Haworthia · 20/05/2020 09:40

I remember giving up at level 2 because I didn’t have the arm/leg coordination to do the moves correctly Blush

BookSkark · 20/05/2020 12:37

sparkesandmoresparkles I think Joe Wicks has good and bad days - probably because he's trying to mix it up for the kids. But I think it's the weights which make the difference - that and the fact that 30DS is really full on for 20 minutes or so, whereas the PE lesson has more breaks. I haven't tried his adult ones though, those may be a bit more stretching.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 21/05/2020 08:46

Lift & Shred L1D5 done!

sparklesandmoresparkles · 21/05/2020 09:28

Well done Prof! Sounds like we’ll be upping levels the same time as I’m only doing weekdays. This is the first week of L2 for me.

30DS L2D4 done - please tell me it gets easier!!!

BookSkark · 21/05/2020 09:56

Decided to mix it up, so rather than do L1 for 10 days etc., I'll do L1, L2, L3 of Shred, then L1, L2 etc. of RI30. I figured that way I was less likely to get bored.

Well it seemed like a good idea. And I started L2 of 30DS quite happily thinking it wasn't as hard as I remembered. That feeling didn't last too long! Still, it was a good start to the day - will do Joe Wicks with DD in a bit, but feeling quite about myself right now - it's good to get back into this.

evilharpy · 21/05/2020 11:14

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson what size weights are you using for lift & shred?

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 21/05/2020 12:32

I have 3 to 5 kg weights, and use the 3s for triceps, shoulders and chest flies - I use 4s for rows, and 5s for all the squats and lunges. I’ve ordered some 8 kg ones for the exercises where the weights are just down by my sides, adding resistance to the leg moves, or where I’m holding a single weight, but they haven’t arrived yet. The people on the DVD have 8, 10 and 15lb weights, so slightly heavier than my current ones but not a lot.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 21/05/2020 12:33

DD (9) is using 0.5, 1 and 2 kg weights.

GeraldTippett · 22/05/2020 11:12

Progress pics! Left is before, middle is after 3 weeks at L1 and the one on the right is after 3 at L2. I also took pics without my shirt on (which I won't inflict upon you!) and as I suspected there was a major difference in my tummy tone after the first 3 weeks but it almost looked worse after the end of L2. But after L2 I can see a difference in my legs.

Will do BFBM today and I'll go for as long as I can though can't guarantee it will be all 7 circuits [wibble]

L2 D8 done ✅

CalmConfident · 22/05/2020 11:26

Fabulous photos @GeraldTippett. Definitely a change in your legs - awesome ! Well done and really encouraging !

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 22/05/2020 11:26

Killer Cardio L1D5 done! Well done, Gerald, that's quite a difference.

jonnybiscuits · 22/05/2020 11:37

I can't find lift and shred on iTunes. Please don't tell me it's only a DVD?! I've nothing to play one on!

Thanks folks. I'm chuffed at the difference in only 6 weeks. I'm a shorty so find physical differences really hard to spot. And to add context, the difference in weight between the beginning to the end was only 2.6kg but I think the physical difference is more impressive.

I managed 6.5 circuits of BFBM today. Bloody knackering! It was my first time doing it and while some circuits were quite easy, circuit 6 was an utter bastard. My aim is to complete all circuits, all the way through with no stopping. Will do it again tomorrow then NMTZ on Sunday Smile
