Happy new year all!

It’s January 1 and that means another 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene :)

Here she is. I’ll definitely not manage the full 30 days but who’s in?

OP posts:

I'd like to give this a go, but where do you sign up?

Also, I've not exercised for a very very long time, and don't have a huge amount of yoga experience. Will I manage?

Snaleandthewhail · 04/01/2020 19:45

@chocciechocface if you look up yoga with Adrienne you’ll find her YouTube channel and can see the videos there as they’re listed, or on her website you can submit your results address for daily emails.

In terms of ease - it’s gentle, you don’t need experience. She tells you how to make things harder but mostly give it a try - what do you have to lose?

Enjoy :)

Oh dear started bawling today during day 3. Have no idea why.

Elindab · 05/01/2020 06:07

@chocciechocface I am also a complete beginner and can't really do the moves properly like she does. Seems like the worse you are the more you have to gain though, right? Except that yoga apparently makes me weep. Usually, I cry from rage, but that doesn't seem to apply here.

hanahsaunt · 05/01/2020 09:08

Day 3 completed yesterday. Because this is my first yoga attempt I think that I am putting out my neck trying to see what she is doing and doing it. I am hypermobile so stretching is fine but need to work on strength/control. I hurt in places!

Ulysses · 05/01/2020 09:08

Day 4 done and I'm sweating from it! My hamstrings are really tight so I found some of the moves quite restricted and I was lumbering while doing them. My breathing can go all over the shop too @Weepingwillows12. It's all about showing up and hopefully making progress too.

mizu · 05/01/2020 09:11

There's a great sun salutation one from 2015 - day 10 I think - that I do every morning. It's all I can manage and really sets you up for the day, it's about 12 minutes. I love it.

LittenKitten · 05/01/2020 19:57

I'm managing to keep up so far - Day 4 just done.

LittenKitten · 05/01/2020 19:58

@Elindab it makes me emotional too sometimes. Doesn't help that she's so lovely too!

drspouse · 05/01/2020 20:00

I've done the 3rd, 4 th and 5 th. Confusing to start the month on the 2nd!
I'll have to get up early this week to do these videos (usually I do 10 mins before going to the office or a longer one if I'm WFH).

carrie74 · 05/01/2020 20:52

Day 4 done, was a good un!

frazzledasarock · 05/01/2020 22:16

Done day four. Today was a bit more intense. It’s very interesting tho and time flies by whilst doing the workout.

Ulysses · 06/01/2020 08:56

I did day 5 and I found it a chore to be honest. It was a very slow version of much of day 4. I'm glad its done though and feel better for doing it Smile.

drspouse · 06/01/2020 09:32

I woke up full of cold and couldn't drag myself out of bed early; I may have time later though.

Taswama · 06/01/2020 10:13

Late joining. Just done day one. I did it last year and really enjoyed it.
Was worried about the length but the 40 mins were no problem.

ShinyGiratina · 06/01/2020 10:47

Yesterday 06:03Elindab

Oh dear started bawling today during day 3. Have no idea why.

I've had that in church a few times, no particular emotion attached, just weepy. I think sometimes it's when you let go of all the busy veneer of life, it's just a vague emotional release.

I'm not particularly working through the programme but am trying to do some yoga most days. I was really good in the autumn and felt the benefits until I was hit by a lethargic cold in November and did virtually nothing in December.

SophieLion · 06/01/2020 14:20

Did day 3 (this morning) and day 4 (this afternoon). Still in holiday mode until school starts so taking advantage of more free time.

nibdedibble · 06/01/2020 14:25

I did day 2 yesterday (was a bit unwell for the first couple of days of 2020 so delayed my start) and oh boy can I feel it today. Especially in my core. GOOD. Loving it. "Smell your armpit" Grin

nibdedibble · 06/01/2020 14:26

My goal is to be able to step forward from downward dog or a plank - I cannot do that right now, I can't even see how it could be possible. I have long arms so I should be able to get height enough to get my leg up and through but nope.

WreckTangled · 06/01/2020 14:37

nib I can't see how I'll ever be able to do that! I find it impossible Grin

nibdedibble · 06/01/2020 15:30

Glad I'm not alone there Grin
She makes it look so easy, and I'm fairly sure I used to be able to do it at yoga in my twenties. Ha. Yoga in my twenties

drspouse · 06/01/2020 19:33

I also used to be able to do it (when I first started my current job, so in my 30s). Sob. And I could do plough and shoulder stand.

However - I have been doing yoga almost daily since July and I can now:

  1. sit cross legged comfortably without a cushion (though I sit straighter with one).
  2. sit on my feet without a cushion between my bottom and my feet.

My dream is to be able to get my heels on the ground in Downward Dog.

WreckTangled · 06/01/2020 19:42

I'm only in my early 30's and can't do it! Not sure I'll fit today in as ds is being horrendous and refusing to go to bed Angry

Weepingwillows12 · 06/01/2020 20:41

I am a day behind as needed a break as my hip was hurting. Mainly from a different exercise class I think. Back to work tomo so will see how i do fitting it in my evenings but have been enjoying it so far. My 3 year old seems to want to come climb on me everytime I start so not as well trained as Benjy yet!

ShinyGiratina · 06/01/2020 20:44

I'm not convinced my hands will ever meet my feet in standing forward bend, nor that my leg will ever pass elegantly between my hands, nor my heels touching the ground in down dog. Like a true yogi, I accept my limitations Grin Halo
