Happy new year all!

It’s January 1 and that means another 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene :)

Here she is. I’ll definitely not manage the full 30 days but who’s in?

OP posts:
Snaleandthewhail · 06/01/2020 21:05

Day 5 done, what was that bend forward whilst sort of cross legged, hands and elbows in the floor,

  1. I don’t bend
  2. Tummy in the way
  3. Boobs in the way
  4. Legs in the way

... etc...

Quite enjoyed it though.

nibdedibble · 06/01/2020 21:54

I am hurting so much, I think I need a painkiller Grin It’s not permanent though, it will pass. It’s so good to stretch myself

WhereforeArtThouManatee · 06/01/2020 22:40

Gosh, just did day 1 and found it took effort, reading all your updates about days 2 and 3 you are making me nervous! I think I'll do day 1 a few mores times first 😂

She's so lovely I want to be her when I grow up 😀 except I'm already 41. And fat and inflexible... sigh

WreckTangled · 07/01/2020 08:38

I did day 5 this morning so I can do day 6 after work. I found it so hard!

LittenKitten · 07/01/2020 09:06

Planning to do Day 6 this evening. Pleased I’m managing to do every day this time, although it’s early days! From what I remember from last year, no.6 stepped it up a gear?

Ulysses · 07/01/2020 10:03

Indeed it has @littenkitten! Just finished it and found it hard work but enjoyable. Focus is on your core and I could not for the life of my do the boat into the floor reps (not the technical name!). Ended up doing a version where I had one leg up and one leg down to keep going.

Definitely the most difficult one for me so far Grin

WreckTangled · 07/01/2020 11:50

Oh no don't say that! My core is ok but my legs are v weak

Zillaindie · 07/01/2020 13:38

Just finished an embarrasing attempt at day 6.
Spent most of it suffocating myself attempting to do the rocking.
Glad Ive managed to stick with it so far but feel slightly disheartened at my ability today 😖

hanahsaunt · 07/01/2020 13:55

Day 5 completed yesterday and was beginning to feel like I know what she is on about. Something different hurts every day though. Day 6 sounds positively terrifying but everyone will be out when I attempt it tonight. She has my undying respect for her strength and lack of wobble!

WreckTangled · 07/01/2020 14:09

I'll be doing weights before doing day 6, am I going to regret that? Grin

WreckTangled · 07/01/2020 14:17

I just watched it in preparation and this is one of my favourites. You don't need any balance and it's all core work lots of lying down Grin

coffeecow · 07/01/2020 15:44

I'm about to do day 6, it's always my least favourite day - I have very little core strength! But always feel so good when it's done and I no longer have that apprehension that it's coming.

Plus day 8 is usually a 'meditate' theme so that's always a good thing to remember mid boat pose Grin

Gammeldragz · 07/01/2020 16:38

Started Sunday, did day 2 today, I'm finding my wrists feel weak and though I'm having no trouble with the poses (hypermobile) my strength and stability is pants. Did find it hard to breathe in some positions as my boobs/belly get in the way! Enjoying it though.

WreckTangled · 07/01/2020 18:21

Done. Enjoyed it today. Apparently tomorrow is hands free to give wrists and shoulders a break

nibdedibble · 07/01/2020 18:24

Yes my boobs and belly get in the way and restrict that deep breathing in some poses. Like, a seated forward fold - my old yoga teacher could just flop herself over but I never could and now my belly will only let me get so far Grin

I did day 4 today and don't hurt as much as I did yesterday so thumbs up.

frazzledasarock · 07/01/2020 20:28

Going to do day six in a bit. I do a ten minute abs/core strengthening workout in the mornings. And I’ve found combined with this my stomach is slowly regaining a bit more tone.

I’m also incredibly achy every day so muscles are being put to work.

I used to religiously do Pilates daily years ago and found it really easy, I so wish I’d appreciated the body I had then! As I’d love to have it back 😆

Weepingwillows12 · 07/01/2020 20:39

I am 2 days behind as skipped yesterday and started it all a day late so day 4 activate for me. I actually found this one ok. Fell over in one of the lunges but generally was keeping up and felt ok. Looking forward to day 5!

I was also pleased with myself as major january blues today (back at work, scraped car on carpark exit and had the sad news that a former colleague had unexpectedly died ) so usually that would trigger me to drink a few too many wines, eat a takeaway and have a cry. Instead I did yoga and feel better for it.

Snaleandthewhail · 07/01/2020 21:46

Oh day 6. That was, er, challenging.

By far the day so far where what I did on the mat was furthest from what she did. And when she started repeating the balance on your bum thing...

I mean, my bum could have its own postcode, you’d think I could use it to balance on.

Still, she did say that was the hardest didn’t she?

frazzledasarock · 07/01/2020 22:04

The boat move.... I was more a shipwreck. Abs are sore now. So I’m expecting to wake up tomorrow with a dream washboard stomach 😆😆😆

hanahsaunt · 07/01/2020 22:05

Day 6 - oh my! Smug for the first ten minutes then it was like a whole level of body control never before experienced. I didn't expect this to make me sweat. Loving it though. She is fab!

carrie74 · 07/01/2020 22:23

Did Day 5 this morning, and Day 6 just now (had my normal yoga class yesterday which was tough on the shoulders, so felt that today!). My core is alright, but my lower back couldn't cope with the boat into lowered position, my legs just won't go down that far if my body is 😂. And I have a tendency to a twingey lower back as is, so am always mindful of it.

Kids back at school tomorrow, and I'm back to early mornings, sigh...

Snaleandthewhail · 08/01/2020 06:54

Baby woke early, I’ve managed to resettle her and then rather than getting an extra half an hour in bed I’ve just done Day 7. Day 7 by 7am... much easier than yesterday, lots of stretching, a bit of one footed balance.

WreckTangled · 08/01/2020 08:09

Today's looks good. I'll be holding onto the tv unit on the one legged bits Grin

Ulysses · 08/01/2020 20:34

Day 7 - that was lovely. Had a 5am start this morning followed by a full on working day so couldn't do it first thing like I normally do. Kept putting it off but really please I committed to it this evening so I have being doing it each day. My one legged stand was a bit wobbly but I did better than I thought I would.

frazzledasarock · 08/01/2020 20:37

Think I really needed to do today’s. Helped ease the aches from previous days.

I had to hold on to furniture whilst doing the one legged stands.
