Happy new year all!

It’s January 1 and that means another 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene :)

Here she is. I’ll definitely not manage the full 30 days but who’s in?

OP posts:
SophieLion · 27/01/2020 17:02

Day 26 Keep today. First time for triangle pose I think. I've still got 4 days that I have to go back and do at some point.

LittenKitten · 27/01/2020 17:38

Can’t decide whether to do today’s or not. I’ve got a tension headache, so yoga might help? But it’s worse when I bend over...

LittenKitten · 27/01/2020 18:01

Also have a twinge in my left buttock Hmm

Weepingwillows12 · 27/01/2020 20:38

I think today's was ok. Not too long and there was movement but not too bad. Lunges and arms but not too many downward dog or planks.

hanahsaunt · 27/01/2020 21:37

So far so good but am I the only one who can't put their palms flat on the ground?

frazzledasarock · 27/01/2020 21:39

I’m now a day behind was out birthday celebrating on Saturday and no way could I have done anything that evening. Day 25 was lovely.

Also no I can’t get palms flat on floor unless my knees are slightly bent!

drspouse · 27/01/2020 23:17

Not very well today but squeezed in a 12 minute bedtime session instead of today's.

InfiniteSheldon · 28/01/2020 05:43

Had a week off with one thing and another did a few home practices but back to it yesterday day 9 done going to be March before I finish this one!

ChachyFace · 28/01/2020 08:05

I cant touch the floor at all if my legs are straight- and I've got short legs and long arms.... I'm taking a long term view- a little practice every day for gradual 'results'

hanahsaunt · 28/01/2020 08:10

I can touch the floor no problem (I am hypermobile) but my palms and fingers curl under and don't really do flat. It's odd.

drspouse · 28/01/2020 10:08

I can touch the floor, and have always been able to - but I have very short legs compared to the rest of my body.

LittenKitten · 28/01/2020 12:17

I can't touch the floor without bending my legs - although I'm getting closer Grin. I find the triangle poses difficult too, as I can't straighten my leg and keep my hands even close to the floor.

I am finding my core is stronger though. I can stay in plank/hovering table for longer. I'm also moving into the lunges easier than I used to (always hated them before).

Caught up with day 26 and did day 27 just now - a bit more of an involved practice but a nice one.

LittenKitten · 28/01/2020 12:19

Found an older Yoga with Adriene video yesterday where she tells you how to make a mat/room spray, so I went out today and bought some essential oils. I haven't been able to get the other bits for it yet, so I just put a couple of drops of lemongrass and tea tree into a bowl of steaming water and let that scent the room. It's really nice (although you really don't need much!).

Here's the link if anyone's interested:

Ulysses · 28/01/2020 21:02

I really loved today's practice and it's one I'll repeat. It's a nice pace and I prefer it when Adriene is concise but exact about what you need to be doing, rather than when it's awfully waffly, sweet as it is.

I also caught up on Day 23 last night and that was similar. I'm usually lark but I'm feeling more energetic at night these past few days and have enjoyed doing them more in the evening than early on in the morning.

The mat spray sounds like a nice idea @LittenKitten - something I never knew I might need but considering how much contact it has with my manky feet something to invest in!

SophieLion · 29/01/2020 07:30

Just did day 27 integrate and day 28 nourish. I agree with you Ulysses about day 27 - it was a nice pace and a bit more dynamic. I also enjoyed Nourish - liked the bow pose (I think it's called that anyway).

I also want to make the mat spray - thank you LittenKitten.

ChachyFace · 29/01/2020 11:46

Day 30 in sight.... and I still cannot sit comfortably cross legged on the floor. Anyone else find it awful? makes my thighs and hips ache after a few seconds, can't sit up straight- it unbalanced me and I always find myself slumped forwards like a sack of spuds...
Much prefer to sit kneeling back on my heels.

drspouse · 29/01/2020 14:03

It took me about 3-4 months of daily yoga to be able to do that. I still find it a bit better with a cushion but previously I couldn't do that at all.

I can also only now (these few months in) sit on my feet (and I can't sit on my heels).

Can't do Bow to save my life - I hung on to my trouser legs but any movement or swaying gave my hip hell (but TBF I do have bursitis).

Weepingwillows12 · 29/01/2020 14:36

I can sit cross legged fine but am still finding it hard to be on my arms so much and really really hate downward dog! I have a really weak upper body though but I think its improved over the month. Maybe with a couple more months it will be the nice restful pose she seems to think it is rather than the burnt wobbly mess I experience Grin.

Weepingwillows12 · 29/01/2020 14:37

Are people planning to keep with daily yoga?I might try and do her january 2019 one in feb but with a couple of days off first.

LittenKitten · 29/01/2020 14:44

@weepingwillows12 I think I might try and carry on

Ulysses · 29/01/2020 16:48

I think I am going try one of the earlier 30 days. I've started the past 4 years now I think but only completed the last two. I'll probably skip the first two practices as I've not been so keen on these in the past.

ShinyGiratina · 29/01/2020 19:05

I think I'll try one of the other 30 day series too. I was getting into a habit of daily morning yoga in the autumn, but coping out with very short ones. I've found these to be a good length and the variety is more balanced for my body.

SophieLion · 29/01/2020 19:06

I want to carry on yoga, WeepingWillows, but as part of my exercise programme so would like to do it once or twice a week rather than every day. I'm not sure I will do her old challenges as I used to do yoga a lot and so would prefer something more dynamic (I'm assuming the previous challenges are a similar structure to this one). I will have a look through all the videos Adrienne has as I really like her way of teaching and the explanations and tips she gives.

ChachyFace · 29/01/2020 19:35

I definitely want to carry on. I think I'll repeat Home. I've enjoyed it so much and can definitely feel benefits in my core strength, leg strength and flexibility. I love how there is very little repetition within the sessions- certainly no 10 or 20 reps of this and that, which is where I find exercise becomes a chore and a bore.

Ulysses · 29/01/2020 20:27

Day 28 done. Smile
