Happy new year all!

It’s January 1 and that means another 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene :)

Here she is. I’ll definitely not manage the full 30 days but who’s in?

OP posts:

I am nowhere near being able to do a crow! Even just that weird crouch on my toes hurts after about 20 seconds! It feels like it has sped up a bit and got a bit harder the last few and I am not keeping up so well. Still enjoying it though but may get left behind if it continues as might fo back to some earlier ones instead

WreckTangled · 21/01/2020 21:24

I found it hard keeping up too

frazzledasarock · 21/01/2020 22:09

Today’s was good, much calmer. I do agree she does one hard and one easy one then tosses in the occasional insane one.

The crow nearly had me pitching face first on to my mat. I like to pretend I look as graceful as she does. Positive I don’t.

But I am really enjoying having 20 minutes a day for me.

WreckTangled · 22/01/2020 06:55

Today's looks like a nice stretchy one

SophieLion · 22/01/2020 07:42

Just finished days 19 balance and 21 boost. Liked 19 a lot. Boost I'm not sure. Didn't really feel like I did much. Some interesting breathing techniques which I was getting in a muddle with.

drspouse · 22/01/2020 09:11

I'm going to have to do today's after dinner, or else a short one at work or before bed.

hanahsaunt · 22/01/2020 10:53

On track for every day so far :) When I get the breathing right it all seems so much easier but that's quite tricky, I find.

Ulysses · 22/01/2020 20:34

I didn't feel too great last night and not much better tonight either so I am still a day behind. I did day 20 and it was nice way to wind down after a couple of hectic days. I'm due a Couch to 5K run tomorrow so will try and fit in two sessions on Friday. There's no way I could do though forearm plank/hip dips so didn't even attempt them. Congrats to anyone who did!

Snaleandthewhail · 22/01/2020 22:09

Just done Still and Boost together. What was that twisty plank crazy?

SophieLion · 23/01/2020 09:09

Did day 18 Believe this morning! It was harder than I thought it would be Grin

drspouse · 23/01/2020 12:05

Is it day 22? If so I did day 22 this morning. Stir, anyway.

Ulysses · 23/01/2020 14:17

I did Boost this morning and did indeed give me a one! I do find it hard to synchronise my breathing with the moves at times and the way she said breathe in and fill your stomach then breathe out and expel it from your stomach doesn't come naturally to me. Indeed, it was the opposite way I was told to do to prevent a stitch in running! It is really nice when you get the flow going though. I like having the discipline of doing it in the mornings to as I think it sets me up for the day. I am still a day behind though and going to attempt two tomorrow. I've done a run as well today so I might even have a surge of energy to catch up tonight.

SophieLion · 24/01/2020 08:23

Day 14 Return and day 23 Focus. Was a lot of balancing in eagle pose in day 23.

ChachyFace · 24/01/2020 09:19

Yeah Day 23: Twisty!

LizziesTwin · 24/01/2020 10:26

Had an early start yesterday so only managed to run but have just run & done yesterday’s and today’s. Liked today’s a lot.

Ulysses · 24/01/2020 20:56

Have finished day 22, but was interrupted during the pigeon pose and never really got back into it and resorted to lying in the Corpse at the end. I think pigeon is really easy to get wrong and I couldn't really see myself being in the correct position. I know Adriene gives a lot of leeway but it's one of those one where id like to get some feedback on how to improve. I'm sure the leg I've got lying out is really crooked and it should be straight(er) and my hips aren't really sat where they ought to be.

I'm still a day behind and it I am going to catch up it will be Sunday now before I do two sessions in the one day. I'm always impressed on those who do them consecutively.

drspouse · 24/01/2020 23:11

I use a couple of cushions under one hip in pigeon, to make it more comfy.

drspouse · 24/01/2020 23:11

(I can't do eagle at all due to two broken shoulders, but I have no excuse for pigeon).

Siablue · 25/01/2020 08:32

I am a very late starter so only on day 3. I am loving this so far. I used to be good at yoga before I was pregnant and I haven’t done much since. I was only allowed to do very gentle exercise after giving birth.

I really feel my core waking up. I probably won’t manage to do one per day but I will do it as often as I can.

SophieLion · 25/01/2020 11:24

Day 24 Uplift (short but dynamic) and day 20 Still (some abs but also lovely stretches).

ChachyFace - twisty is the perfect name for day 23! Adriene should have called it that instead of Focus!! Grin

ShinyGiratina · 25/01/2020 11:41

I can feel a difference in my core. With RED January, I think tired muscles and water retention are falling foul of the scales, but my waist is feeling better.

I'm always horribly inflexible, but yesterday there was a point in pigeon where I managed to twist, lift the foot and catch it which I haven't been able to do for a while including earlier in the month.

This morning's flow was a good warm up for parkrun.

I'm back in a good routine of getting up and doing a morning yoga session now. I had been in a good habit through much of the autumn but began floundering when it stayed like the middle of the night into the mornings.

Weepingwillows12 · 26/01/2020 08:55

I did day 23 and 24 today. Liked day 23 but my eagle arms are very strange. Day 24 was hard but it might be as I did them back to back? Lost motivation a bit at the mo. Its feeling like a chore and not fun but I think it's because I got behind and keep doing 2 together so its showing up my lack of fitness! Today's picture had a pillow and blanket so hopefully more my cup of tea. Definitely prefer the stretchy or chill out ones to the fast burny ones.

I might start the series again when this is all done and see if it feels easier.

Ulysses · 26/01/2020 16:03

I've really hurt my lower back! I did the same last year whilst doing 30 Days but this time when I leaning back in the bath. It took a week or so to relieve itself Sad. Fortunately, Adriene seems to have a practice for everything to I did yoga for lower pack pain this morning and it was yummy. Today's looks a lovely one for later on tonight. I still need to fit in Day 23 as well but I am keen to keep going albeit more gently. On the videos on the NHS website to help back pain are all similar poses in yoga so I am hoping it will be a help as well.

SophieLion · 26/01/2020 17:32

Hope your back is better soon Ulysses Thanks

Just finished day 25 unwind. Was more relaxing and stretching than yoga. I made the mistake of doing it with DD so it wasn't as relaxing as it should have been Grin

Ulysses · 27/01/2020 11:15

Thanks @SophieLion, I can't properly relax when I know other people are around either. I'm always anticipating that they are going to barge in on me at any given point. I've done day 25 and 26 now. I had to watch myself in some of the movements, especially the forward bends as that's when my back really starts to ache. It does seem to have improved now though. I did enjoy Day 26. Can't believe this is the final week of it!
