Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

I go in the dark - I stick to well lit routes, which means pavements, but I haven’t found it too tough so far.

I’ve repeated W5D1 a few times now. I’ve had a tough week, bad nights with the baby so I’m very tired, and I haven’t felt quite ready to make the leap from five minute runs to eight minutes. I’m doing ok with the three five-minute runs, though the second one is a killer. I have noticed that my pace has dropped a bit though (I use a Fitbit) - normal? I feel like if I run any faster I won’t get through it.

Hello, I've posted a few times on this thread but not really kept up. Anyway, just to say that I graduated C25k last night! It's taken me most of the year with lots of ups and downs but I'm there and I've done it! Keep going with it and don't give up!

Well done, RhubarbCrumbled!

I've done W5D2 a few times now, making various excuses to myself about sleep deprivation, too much time between runs due to rain, etc etc. Mainly just because I just don't want to fail at the W5D3 run of doom. I'm going to go for it tomorrow night.

Hi all, I haven't posted on this thread for a few months now...not since I injured my knee annoyingly at the start of Week 9 in June. Since then I have taken some time out, fixed my knee, and tried again!
I am now about to start Week 9 again BUT, I have also been doing regular-ish parkruns, and have managed to run the full 5k distance on 2 occasions now! My PB is around 33 mins, so the next step is to manage that 5k in under 30 mins!
I just wanted to pop back to encourage everyone to keep believing. So many times over the last year or so I have thought that I would never run 5k, but now I have, and I can, and I am a runner Smile.
Keep it up, everybody!!!!

I did W5D3!! I can’t believe it. When I set off I didn’t think I was going to be able for it, as I had a shit day at work and was in a v bad mood. But I was! It was hard, but not as hard as I thought it would be. I nearly cracked at around 10 minutes but then I just pushed through. I’ll feel it tomorrow I’d say.

Woohoo!

Well done. Nice to see some people still posting on here. I've run a few 30 mins with my own music now and my new fitness tracker tells me I'm doing 4.6K. Pleased with that. Saw a brilliant physio yesterday. I need to work on my strength (calves and glutes) to avoid injury as I'm quite unstable. Will try to do that. Still loving this running lark.

Just wanted to record that I did 5K for the first time today. I'm so chuffed. Started slowly as wanted to finish the distance and was able to speed up towards the end. Could have kept going tbh but was happy with a 36min 5K. Not too bad for 57 I dont think.

hello, I found this thread such an inspiration in my attempt to become a runner earlier this year. But I developed a knee injury in week 6 which made me think that I should knock it on the head, at least until I've lost more weight.... but my knee is better now and I have snuck out for a few tentative runs recently. I enjoy it so much. Nothing compares to the sense of achievement I feel at the end of the run.
I'm in my 50s and 2 to 3 stone overweight but even so I feel I can get to that Parkrun one day.
I've decided to restart at week 4, am finding it very much within my comfort zone so I don't think I need to go all the way back to the start.
wish me luck!

Good luck! Well done for getting back at it. Did a 33.5 min 5K yesterday. Was overtaken by absolutely everyone doing the Christmas day park run (I just got caught up in it - was doing my own thing), including many Santas and an elephant. Hopefully will he joining them soon (minus costume).

Hi I'm a newbie. I'm just wondering if c25k is for me. I got a new iwatch for Christmas, I'm a little over weight and quite unfit but I've tried to up my movement the last few days since getting my watch. I managed 4K jogging around my kitchen the last two days. Indoor jogging so not the same as outdoor I don't think- is it? I am too embarrassed to run outside just yet.

If the iwatch says I've done 4K, is that right??

No idea about the 4K, but C25K is definitely for you. Just download the app and go for it.

Well done on the 5K MotherOfSoupDragons!

I'm stalling a bit - I missed a couple of runs over Christmas for various reasons, and I feel like I've lost my mojo. I was up to 28 minutes running, and finding it hard, but after getting back to it, I was finding it tough to even run for 10 minutes! I ended up dropping back a couple of weeks, and I'm managing 22 minutes but barely. I need to just push on, but honestly I feel demoralised with the whole thing and have to fight with myself every time to get out the door. I wonder if I signed up for a park run, would that help motivate me? I'm not particularly interested in doing a park run, iyswim, but maybe I need a kick up the arse?
