Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

Yeah, Michael Johnson sounds permanently disappointed.

Fazackerley · 30/03/2019 12:29

39.12

Very happy with that

StVincent · 30/03/2019 14:25

That's amazing Fazackerly!!! So proud!

Mysterian · 30/03/2019 22:07

I did C25K last year. I stopped running due to reasons but am just about to redo it. Is it easier second time around?

One thing on my side is that I know it's possible now. When I did it for the first time, every week I would think I've got no chance of doing the next week's runs, but managed it.

JPduck · 31/03/2019 08:38

Hi and Happy Mother's Day💐💐
I'm just about to start wk3 after repeating wk2. I repeated as I decided i wasn't ready for the jump from 90s run to 3m! Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning.
I'm using nhs app, what other c25k apps are you using?

Fazackerley · 31/03/2019 09:26

Fuck's sake. Someone took a picture of me at the end of the park run and they've put it on their Facebook page. I know they are just trying to be friendly but i look awful, fat , red faced and ridiculous. I'm quite pissed off tbh.

C25kTrier · 31/03/2019 10:14

Lol @ Johnson sounding ‘disappointed’ Grin

Faz, try not be disheartened by the photo. You achieved so much more than you thought you could. So you didn’t look like a supermodel whilst doing it? Very few people do. There is a hashtag on Instagram called #Ihavearunnersbody, a sort of body positivity thing started by a female marathon runner. There’s photos (often race photos) of women of all shapes, sizes, colours (including ‘beetroot’), sweating, gurning, cellulite, bad hair and sometimes smiles of pride or pure relief. Worth looking at to remind yourself that even people who regularly run miles and have years of experience still find it challenging and can look ‘iffy’ in photos!

Fazackerley · 31/03/2019 10:20

I didn't want my photo taken though. I'm not quite ready to be part of the body positivity movement! I just wanted to quietly go and do the run. Anyway, nothing I can do about it I suppose. I hope they don't make a habit of it.

C25kTrier · 31/03/2019 10:42

Perhaps contact the admin for the Facebook page and ask them to remove your photo?

Fazackerley · 31/03/2019 10:43

No I don't want to make a big deal out of it, just want it to die quietly

CurlsandCurves · 01/04/2019 11:23

Week 2 run 1 done, wasn’t too bad. I’m learning to go slow in order to get through it.

JPduck how is week 3? I looked ahead and saw it’s 3 min runs which seems a bit daunting, like you said.

Fazackerley · 01/04/2019 11:32

I have week 6 run 1 today. I'm already getting myself in a pickle about the concept of running for 25 mins next week. It is purely mental because I did 20 mins on Saturday and then another 6 or 7 mins after a walk break.

I need something really gripping to listen to so I am not constantly thinking of the time. I listen to music atm but I get a bit antsy when a song starts and I'm thinking, oh god, this song is probably only 3 minutes long and I have to run 9 of them Confused

Pennina · 01/04/2019 13:36

Hi! I'm in! I have just completed w1 r1 on nhs app with Laura! I found it pretty hard but I did manage it. I was running extremely slowly only just above a speed walk.

I am in my 50s and overweight and rather unfit. I do however feel seriously happy!

I will persist!

Well done fazarchty on your run!

JPduck · 01/04/2019 15:20

Thanks for asking @CurlsandCurves .... I'm very much surprised at how much easier it was than I thought. Hopefully all will go as well on Wednesday. The sunshine 🌞🌞 was a bonus too.
I also trialled a flip belt which was fab as it contained my car key and phone ... I forgot I was wearing it!

gorganzolabrie · 01/04/2019 16:10

Hi. Can I join? At 60 I'm guessing I might be the oldest C25ker on the thread. I'm on week 7, run 3 and thrilled to be able to run for 25 minutes non-stop.

C25kTrier · 01/04/2019 16:28

Hi all. Well done all and welcome gorganzola, anyone can join us Smile. Getting to w7 is fantastic and something I can only dream of at the minute!

I’ve just got in from w3r2. Looking at my stats, I was slower than last time. Much slower. It was much warmer today and I had to drag myself out to do it as hay fever is wiping me out at the moment. I could probably have pushed myself more though.

OP posts:
JPduck · 01/04/2019 17:16

Wow @gorganzolabrie, congrats - I cant imagine running for 25 mins, I was shocked to manage 3 mins ok today

Fazackerley · 01/04/2019 19:07

Week 6 run 1 done. It was really hard, my legs were dead. I had gone for a long dog walk and lunchtime plus done the horses. I might do Wednesdays run in the morning and see if its better.

StVincent · 02/04/2019 11:18

I did week 3 run 1 yesterday and didn't think I'd make it through the three minutes. My body felt totally different - really pushing it. Period didn't help! Starting to wonder if I'm some kind of physical freak who doesn't actually get fitter.

C25kTrier · 02/04/2019 11:34

StVincent, sometimes you just have a crap one. Sometimes it’s because you are a bit dehydrated, sometimes it’s too warm, or too wet, or too windy. Or your bra chafes. Or your head just isn’t in the right place. I think there is research to back up that women’s sports performance is affected when they are bleeding, too (yay! Hmm).

You did it though. Well done to you. Onwards. Flowers

StVincent · 02/04/2019 11:53

Aw Trier, thank you - that really means a lot. Hoping by next one stupid period will be over and I'll be flying along. Unlikely as that is :)

miffmufferedmoof · 02/04/2019 17:53

Hi all. I did week 3 run 2 this morning. My basic level of fitness beforehand wasn’t too low (just haven’t done any running for years) so I’ve found it fairly easy so far but not sure how I’ll find running for more than about 5 minutes.
Anyone else get tempted to skip the warm up walk? I get cold and bored! Plus I usually run straight after taking the children to school so I’ve already walked a bit

C25kTrier · 02/04/2019 17:56

Miff, the warm up walk is supposed to be brisk. It’s literally supposed to be warming up your muscles. I don’t think it’s meant to be a stroll.

Lemontwist · 02/04/2019 18:13

Can I join you? I'm doing Wk2R2 tomorrow hopefully.
I've found it ok so far but I know its early days. I'm having to run with the buggy at the moment unless I can cram the odd run in when DH is home. I'm going to have to try hard though to commit to it.

CurlsandCurves · 02/04/2019 20:24

Hi Lemontwist I’ll be joining you on w2r2 tomorrow!

Running tomorrow with my friend and her dogs, which always makes it a lot more fun.
