Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

Keep going vagn. Don't be downhearted. You did a bloody park run! I'm going to venture out tomorrow for the first time in 2 weeks. On the advice of my physio, I'm going back to W6R1 just to see how it feels and am hoping it will be fine and I'll be able to move on quickly. Want to be doing a park run by October.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 23/08/2019 10:27

Didn't last long, oh well. Felt a very slight twinge and as I have a big weekend ahead decided not to risk it. Really can do without being on crutches for the next few days. Will try again on Tuesday.

Lellochip · 24/08/2019 11:11

I'm retiring from Parkrun 😅 First one I just about wheezed my way to the end, 2nd today and I didn't even make it to 1k. Never have this problem running on my own lol

sanityisamyth · 24/08/2019 11:57

I'm back!!!

I've had 6 weeks off running as my DS broke up from school and I can't go out with him.

I have just come back from my first run. I've gone all the way back to the start, even though I got to W5R2 (stopped just shy of the killer long run!).

I think I'm nearly dead, but not as dead as when I started last time!! I don't have the taste of blood in my mouth/throat this time.

It's shocking how quickly I have lost fitness but it was great to be running again.

I did the Junior park run course near where I live, but after the actual event. There were lots of other Lycra clad slim fit people everywhere I definitely don't fit that category but I survived the first run back 👏👏👏

wiltingflower · 26/08/2019 21:49

I started w7r1 today! I'm so excited! 😃

I remember I had a goal to start park run in September and now next month is only a weekish away which is a little nerve wracking. I think I'll see how this week and the next goes and then decide if I want to run on 7th September.

Banjodancer · 26/08/2019 22:03

I'm loving reading these stories. Went out tonight and did the 25 mins run, can't remember which day I'm on but I was so happy when she said I was already half way through!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 27/08/2019 16:38

Did W6R1 today and my ankle was fine. Hooray. It was a comfortable slow jog so hopefully I haven't lost all my fitness. Will try to mice forward quickly and see how I go. Nice to hear from others still running and posting

theneverendinglaundry · 27/08/2019 20:29

I did w5 r1 yesterday. Am hitting a bit of a wall with it this week, I think it's because I know that r3 is a 20 min run. I'm not sure I can do it!

Also back to school next week so I'll be doing 3 school runs per day on foot, how will I find the energy to run too?

MotherOfSoupDragons · 27/08/2019 20:36

I think we've made a lot of W5R3 on here, but everyone has managed it, on the 2nd go if not the first. Not the end of the world if you don't manage it first time, but you probably will.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 27/08/2019 23:09

I did W5R3. Slowly but surely. Early morning to avoid the heat. Now onto W6. Enjoying the C25k programme.

Mammyloveswine · 28/08/2019 00:09

I'm enjoying wrk 6 and have the great north 5k in ten days time! Eeek!

mystupidmistake · 28/08/2019 07:34

I couldn’t be bothered listening to Laura last night so just added two mins on to the 20 mins and did that. Considering just doing my own thing from now on now that my fitness is up.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 28/08/2019 08:17

I can see the attraction of that, if only to avoid the bloody awful 'Julie' song, but I'm sticking with Laura to the end, for old times' sake.

Vagndidit · 28/08/2019 11:15

I'm so haply this heatwave has broken. It's been a miserable few days of broken sleep, jetlag and sweaty morning attempts at running. I dialed back to week 5 and 6 level runs to cope, 20 and 25 mins, hoping to work back up to a comfortable 30 mins I cooler temps. Still haven't officially completed the programme via the app, so that's the next milestone for me.

Good luck to you! Keep on truckin' ;)

TryingToJuggle · 29/08/2019 07:13

Help! I was meant to week6 run 1 this morning but pressed the run 2 button by accident. Do I need to go back and do run 1 next or carry on and miss it out completely!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 29/08/2019 11:49

Maybe do the same one again?

theneverendinglaundry · 29/08/2019 19:29

I would just do the same one again.

Did w5 r2 tonight, had to really push myself towards the end of that 2nd 8 min run. But I did it!

SisterFarAway · 30/08/2019 14:46

Will do my first Parkrun tomorrow morning and have signed up for a 5K sunset run in two weeks.
I listened to W9R3 again while running on Wednesday and it somehow motivated me more than just music, despite MJ not speaking too much. I ran further than during any other run (just over 4K) and ended up in Tesco buying a bottle of water as I'd forgotten mine at home.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 01/09/2019 09:03

How did the park run go Sister? I did 25 mins solid yesterday with no complaints from my tendon. Think I'll try 30 mins solid next time (Tuesday probably as working tomorrow).

SisterFarAway · 01/09/2019 18:45

It went quite well, all things considered. I took 39 minutes, so could've been better - and I was overtaken by a seven year old. I walked quite a bit during the run, but I didn't want to overexert myself.
But I was far from last, there were a few between me and the tail walker.

Candleabra · 01/09/2019 21:49

Hi, I was on this thread doing the couch to 5k during may and june. Since complying the programme I have been keeping up with the running, including regular park runs. I did parkrun on Saturday in exactly 30 mins. I'm so pleased. I literally started from zero. No running experience, no running aptitude, I struggled with the first day doing 1 minute intervals. Just thought I'd post to say I'm cheering you on still, and if I can do it, anyone can!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 01/09/2019 22:42

Well done Sister and Candle. I'm going to try the 30 mins next time. I managed it once before I strained a tendon. Don't think I'm doing anything near 5K though. Will have to use Strava or something to find out.

MessiahOrNaughtyBoy · 03/09/2019 18:18

Evening. Mind if I join? I want to start running, well jogging is probably closer to the mark, so I figured c25k is a good place to start. Book marking my place on here to encourage myself to get out and make a start.

MirrorrorriM · 05/09/2019 13:07

Can I join pls?

Did W2R1 today. Am determined to finish the programme as I always stop round about week 4.

theneverendinglaundry · 05/09/2019 14:02

Well after dreading w5 r3 i absolutely smashed it. Felt so bloody happy afterwards!! It's definitely a mental hurdle. Now I've done it once, I know I can do it again.

Am off to do w6 r3 tonight.
