@Gemi33 you can do this in 12 weeks easy. If you scroll further down the thread I posted some pics with time stamps so you can see what is possible.

At the moment I'm aiming for 4-5 Shreds a week to maintain and a challenge in September with @clearsommespace which I'm half dreading and half looking forward to Grin

OublietteBravo · 08/08/2018 19:33

I didn’t do 30DS today, but I did do 6W6P instead. I’m not very good at persisting with the same DVD day after day.

Gemi33 · 09/08/2018 08:32

Thanks affectionincoldclimate, I've had a read through the thread and for some reason the pictures you posted aren't showing but it sounds like you have done amazingly from reading your posts.

I'm quite unfit and lacking in energy and have quite a lot of weight to lose so feeling a bit nervous about trying it but it would be great if I could do it. I think I need to think about when I can fit in. I work full time and I'm not great in the mornings but evenings tend to be quite busy so might have to get a bit better organised.

xx

clearsommespace · 09/08/2018 16:07

"Rest" day for me today. I had to drive 4 hours in total for work on top of my usual hours. So I got up earlier than I would to work out. So much for a rest!I would rather have done a JM workout.
affectioninacoldclimate Ripped is brutal in parts and I am not looking forward to it. It will definitely be a challenge. I will be very proud if I complete.

Gemi if you are really very unfit you might be put off by 30 DS and if you are very overweight your knees could suffer. Have you considered doing a gentler work out at first? You could still post your progress here for motivation. It would be a shame to jump in the deep end then be put off exercise.

Had to take a rest day because of running so much, so a day later than planned level 2 is complete!!! Nervous about level 3.

gemi33 I believe there is a beginners 30 day shred which you can get. That might be easier if the other one is too hard.

OublietteBravo · 09/08/2018 19:25

Just done L1D5. I seem to be more motivated this week - possibly linked to the cooler weather.

clearsommespace · 09/08/2018 20:10

waiting well done on compketing L2! Don't be nervous. One of the L3 exercises (dumbell cleans) is the easiest in the whole DVD.

NefretForth · 09/08/2018 22:11

L3D1 done (finally!). I'd forgotten so much of it is in sodding plank. And really, if you didn't know what you were doing, you could really damage your back with some of the abs exercises.

I did a token rock star jump or two in each set and then switched to skaters!

Working from home tomorrow, which saves two hours' commuting time, so I should be able to fit another session in.

NefretForth · 09/08/2018 22:45

Gemi, if you wanted to build up gradually, either the Jillian Beginner Shred or a slightly gentler DVD by someone else might be a good idea: I rate Davina McCall Fit in 15, to my own surprise.

clearsommespace · 10/08/2018 06:30

Killer Buns and Thighs L1 done.
I can now hold a plank for 1 min 30 seconds. Smile
I'm aiming for two minutes by the end of the month so that I don't have to stop for a break too often during that horrible cardio in plank circuit in Ripped on 30.

Another no arms workout yesterday morning and no knee soreness this time so about to do another. Shoulder feeling ok after resting it and using the yantra mat but think I'll leave the arms again for today as we go on holiday tomorrow and there's no way I can risk a pulled shoulder taking 2 kids on a flight and coach journey!
Anyone else feel so much better when they work out first thing in the morning? I always try to but the past few weeks I've had to do some in the evening and it's so different. I find if I do it in the morning I feel leaner and stronger all day, whereas after an evening work out I feel heavy and wobbly during and completely wiped out after? Psychological, surely?!

clear that's impressive!👏 good idea to have something b concrete to aim for.

norbert23 · 10/08/2018 12:08

Back from a week in Cornwall so no shred for the last 6 days but walking up and down sand dunes carrying a 3 year old must count for something! My aim for slightly less wobbly thighs is happening so I'm happy! Back on it later, after I've washed and unpacked SmileSmileSmile

NefretForth · 10/08/2018 16:56

L3D2 done. That was definitely one of those days where the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak: everything felt like lead, and my sports bra is not up to the job of all that plyometric training. (Clearly neither is Natalie's, I notice.) I have Pilates and yoga tonight Shock so may crawl home to die afterwards...

baby, I can't work out what makes the difference for me. I like working out first thing because it gets it out of the way, but most of the time I like sleep better so it rarely happens. And if I'm tired and short of sleep I find working out first thing makes me even more spaced-out later in the day.

clear, I can hold a plank for two minutes but I can't do that hideous plank cardio circuit without stopping: squat thrusts are my enemy. (I might see if I can do 2 minutes of plank jacks, actually; I find them a lot easier).

OublietteBravo · 10/08/2018 18:08

L1D6. Definitely easier than it was on day 1!

affectionincoldclimate · 10/08/2018 21:57

Hello Shredders

Loving all the updates and reading them with joy and slight envy. Well done everyone, especially @babyinthacorner with your shoulder saga not stopping you from shredding. So awesome.

Had a horrendous week at work and my Mum was taken ill which knocked me slightly. She's fine now and it wasn't serious after all and the sodding work week is over so I'll be shredding with you from tomorrow. I'd be doing it now but sitting in a restaurant waiting for a friend who's 45 mins late for dinner Who knew all these years ago when I was a party girl that I'll be sitting in a posh restaurant dreaming of doing home workout DVD instead Grin

Catch you all tomorrow as I'll be reporting in with Level 2 I believe Grin

babyinthacorner · 11/08/2018 03:53

Ah affection, sorry to hear you've had a shit week. Hope you had a nice meal in the end & glad your Mum's ok x

Dragging myself out of bed to catch a plane now... lovely!

NefretForth · 11/08/2018 10:09

Sorry to hear about your rotten week, affection". Shock at the time baby* was out of bed!

I've been for a run with DD this morning, and went to Pilates and yoga last night. The plan is to Shred again this afternoon and tomorrow morning, keep up the running while we're away on holiday, and finish L3 when we get back. Totally do-able before starting Ripped in September, I hope!

NefretForth · 11/08/2018 22:06

L3D3 done! I'm following Anita for the jumping lunges and all the ab moves except the side planks, because the Natalie variants look like a recipe for a wrecked lower back to me - I did Natalie last time I Shredded, but I'd done more Pilates more recently then. And I'm not even pretending to try the rock star jumps, I'm subbing in skaters instead.

Off on holiday tomorrow but will Shred before we go as the plane's in the afternoon!

affectionincoldclimate · 11/08/2018 23:57

Thank you all for lovely words and support and happy to report Level 2 done today.

@NefretForth @babyinthacorner have a fabulous holidays. You both worked hard this summer! Smile

clearsommespace · 12/08/2018 05:28

Rest day again yesterday.
affectioninacoldclimate Hope the meal out and JM have helped you recover from your stressful week.
About to do L1.

clearsommespace · 12/08/2018 05:32

oubliette isn't it great how quickly you feel progress? Are you feeling ready for the upcoming challenge of L2?

Happy holidays to those who have just left. 5 more sleeps until mine!

Waitingonasmiley42 · 12/08/2018 07:47

Sorry about your bad week affectionincoldclimate.

Loved level 3! Well maybe loved is an exaggeration but I liked it much more than level 2. I feel like the shred has helped my general fitness and made running easier.

Level 3 day 2 done.

NefretForth · 12/08/2018 08:54

L3D4 done! Considering how badly this week started I've caught up rather well. Off to the airport shortly.

Waitingonasmiley, I think I'm the odd one out on this thread as apart from the squat thrusts, which are my Nemesis, I like L2 much better than L3 (partly because I can follow Natalie for everything, which is good for the confidence, and partly because I hate all the plyometrics in L3; my poor knees are ageing and I need to be nice to them). I'm plodding grimly through L3 because I'm determined to finish it before I join in Ripped in September.

affectionincoldclimate · 12/08/2018 23:27

L1 done. I started pontificating about it as I had to go on the tube with DD and a buggy and did an awful lot of lugging the buggy and DD in it up and down the stairs but then thought I'd have to put an excuse here instead of reporting in and I didn't fancy that Grin

Congrats on reaching level 3 @Waitingonasmiley42. It's such s satisfying moment! I love L3 too. I think the sense of achievement makes those bloody V arm raises more palatable Smile
