Some of the moves I struggled with especially when she speeds it up second time round. Not feeling sore today thankfully. Going to try and fit it in again tonight!

WhenCanISleepAgain · 15/01/2019 18:31

Great work waiting and clear. I managed L2 today and enjoyed most of it... until the third part with the shoulder raises etc. She’s not wrong when she says your shoulders will start to burn!

clearsommespace · 15/01/2019 19:07

Those hideous V raises. I always use lighter weights for those.

Planning an exercise rest day tomorrow but DCat has been asking for food earlier than usual for the last couple of days. So I may end up having to get up early regardless. Grrr!

And done! I'll run tomorrow and Thu but try and do 6 week 6 pack twice and shred once at weekend.

GroovieGazelloo · 16/01/2019 13:20

L1D7 ✅
So lovely to have it behind me.

clearsommespace · 16/01/2019 13:56

Nearly ready for the next level Groovie.

DCat didn't get me up so no work out thus morning. It's my half day in the office today and we had some sun this afternoon so I have just done an hour of clearing the patio. Ouch my back! Getting to the age where I need to warm up before gardening. Sad

Hi - I'm new to this and thinking of trying it to shape up quickly !

I need some advice though - my knees can be a bit dodgy - is this likely to make them worse, or is it more likely that workouts will strengthen my muscles generally and so protect my knees iyswim?

I don't have a DVD player but can connect my tv to the internet so is there a way to buy this on download rather than on DVD? (I don't have Amazon Prime, so Prime Video is no good)

Also, what fitness equipment will I need?

Thanks

clearsommespace · 17/01/2019 07:35

You need a mat and some weights but some people start with tins of food.

The workouts include a lot of squats and lunges and jumping so are quite hard on the knees. But they make your quads stronger which can help with some knee problems. I think it would be best to get a doctor who knows your particular problem to advise.

I use a DVD but hopefully someone else can answer your other question.

L3 Ripped done today.

Waitingonasmiley42 · 17/01/2019 18:22

LizB62a. I bought mine and stream them through amazon prime. I wonder if you can do the same on YouTube. Worth a look.

I'm really enjoying 6 week 6 pack. I did it again yesterday and also ran yesterday and today.

ooglyboo · 17/01/2019 18:54

I get loads of her stuff through fit fusion which I think is available on amazon prime?

clearsommespace · 18/01/2019 09:23

L4 Ripped complete.

Next week's mini objective will be to do both Levels of 6 week 6 pack twice.

In answer to LizB62A’ s request for advice ...

my knees can be a bit dodgy

  • so can mine Wink

is this likely to make them worse ?

  • I don’t know. I can say what happened to me.A few years ago I started exercising, cycling and doing the Shred, and one of my knees flared up. I fell on it in a bike accident and it went down. Then I stopped exercising. Before starting back I talked with my doctor about this problem. I was encouraged to start again and to see what happens. I have started again and my knee is ok. I am very careful about doing my moves correctly and placing my feet or knees properly. If I have any twinges I take notice of them and do something to get them to stop. However, I am on level 1 and I know that there’s an exercise in L2 that I’m particularly wary of. Soon I’ll know more … Grin

is it more likely that workouts will strengthen my muscles generally and so protect my knees ?
I’m hoping that this will be the case for myself. I see people who have aged and not developed their muscles and have big health problems as a consequence. So, I’m seeing what I can do to get my body in good shape before then. Smile

GroovieGazelloo · 18/01/2019 11:53

L1D9
Nearly there !! Grin

WhenCanISleepAgain · 18/01/2019 13:08

Well done groovie!!
Liz I’ve had some knee trouble that started with running C25K last year. I have to be careful doing the Shred and took a day off this week because my knee was sore but I’ve been otherwise able to keep going. When I was doing C25K someone recommended I try an exercise called the clamshell to strengthen my knees - may be worth looking into?

Hiphopopotamus · 18/01/2019 13:14

Can I be a late joiner to this thread ? Just started the shred yesterday and done day 2 today. My very first time doing it. Every muscle in my body hurts!

WhenCanISleepAgain · 18/01/2019 18:23

Welcome Hipho and that was me about two weeks ago. Various muscles are still sore but not as bad as at the beginning. Good luck!

Hiphopopotamus · 19/01/2019 13:12

Can I ask a question? I’m very very sore and achy today. Is it safe to push through the pain and do day 3? I’m happy to give it a go but I don’t want to damage anything!

LizB62A · 19/01/2019 13:36

Thanks for all the replies - I'm going to give it a go and just be very aware of my knees.
I'll also dig out my physio exercises for my ankles from a couple of years ago as I know that if my ankles get unstable, it makes my knees more likely to go.
My son has pointed out that his PS4 can play DVDs so I'll order from Amazon.
Thanks again and I'll be back to post again once I've given level 1 a few tries Smile

GroovieGazelloo · 19/01/2019 14:32

Hi Hipho and Liz,

I'm on another thread and this was advice I have taken from Big Choc Frenzy about knee stuff:

"For squats, poke your bum back as if you were hovering above a dubious loo seat.
Keep back straight and weight on heels

For lunges, don't let your front knee get in front of that foot
Also keep a straight back."

In answer to the question about aches and pains, I can only say what I do for myself. I have aches and soreness that I know are my muscles changing and I accept their tiredness. Those I work with and onwards.

If I have something that is a pain, and I feel that I've either pushed too hard and it's more an injury, I don't go any further and I look at what I should be changing in the exercise or if I need to alternate the thread with some other form of exercise for a day or two.

That's what I do. Take care of yourselves. And all the best. Smile

clearsommespace · 20/01/2019 08:03

So did you push through Hipho ?
I think day 3 is the worst regarding aches of muscles which haven't been worked hard before/for a while.

Shred L3 just complete.
I've noticed something strange. Some days I wake up peckish but if it's something quick like Shred I exercise on an empty stomach. Then my appetite goes away for a bit. Confused
It then comes back about 30 minutes after exercising and I am ravenous!

OP posts:
Hiphopopotamus · 20/01/2019 08:25

I did push through!! And my muscles feel much better for it this morning. My problem now is that I seem to be putting on weight with it. I’ve got a lot of weight to shift - I weigh daily and have been steadily losing half a pound a day, but since starting the shred I’ve stopped losing and actually gained a pound!!

Waitingonasmiley42 · 20/01/2019 20:23

Clearsomespace I also find my appetite goes away for a while after exercise!

6 week 6 pack 5 times this week and 31km run. Going to try for another 5 times next week. Much preferring this to shred for a change.

clearsommespace · 21/01/2019 10:20

That's hard core!

Well done hipho. No idea what's going on with your weight as I go via how tight my clothes feel. I'm sure it's doing you good whatever the scales say.

6 week 6 pack L1 completed this morning.

If you find 30DS tough on your knees you could try the beginner shred which is lower impact but still a good workout.
I started beginner shred again at the start of January with my new 1kg weights and did L2D1 today

GroovieGazelloo · 22/01/2019 12:04

Hi all, Hope you're all doing ok. Here L2D2.
Followed Anita today- note to self - get to bed earlier, I was tired.
