I've had to move on every time with modified push-ups or a kind of hybrid version, and by the end of L3 was still doing modified walking push ups...

Think I may just restart 30DS - did L1D1 again yesterday cause it was miserable and I couldn't face going out walking so might just decide to go for it. Am surprised at how much I can feel it today so reckon that means there has been a big enough gap for it to be effective!

OublietteBravo · 24/10/2018 07:23

I can do real push-ups now. But it took me years to work up to this point. I did the modified ones for ages.

tactum · 24/10/2018 09:07

Thanks v much. Will continue with modified but I am trying to practise real ones outside of the shredding. Did Day 2 today - could definitely feel it when I got out of bed this morning but still managed it fine. Tomorrow I'll try some of the movements as advanced rather than modified.

Not sure how I'll cope with 2 hours of tennis this afternoon!!

mamahanji · 24/10/2018 10:09

Can I tentatively rejoin?

clearsommespace · 24/10/2018 12:35

Of course!
After all, you are the founder of this group of shredders etc. Smile

Rest day for me today but glad I checked in.

Right, quick beginners question and then I'll leave you alone! My hamstrings and upper arms really feel it (when I sit down on the loo for example!) but don't feel injured at all, just like they've been made to do stuff they're not used to.

I'm assuming I'm supposed to push on through that with them each day, and only rest if I actually feel injured, rather than just a buggered old mare?

soloula · 24/10/2018 15:42

Yeah tactum it'll ease up by day 4 or 5. By day 5 I had no aches and felt a huge difference to my fitness. Big change in a few days. Just try not to drop anything. Bending down was a killer for me the first few day! You just need to power through the first few days.

Sturmundcalm · 24/10/2018 16:47

yes but... are you doing more stretching than JM does at the end? cause I do about 12mins of stretching - the ones she shows with longer holds and a further stretch (plus a couple of other ones for my tight hamstrings and misaligned pelvis!)

clearsommespace · 25/10/2018 07:05

30DS cool down is definitely too rushed.

I haven't noticed the same problem with other JM DVDs. However this may be because after a period of inactivity, I usually start up with 30DS so by the time I get onto another workout, my body is a bit more supple and my muscles used to working out.

I did L1 6 week six pack Day 9 today. I think I'll do Day 10 tomorrow then attempt to move up to Level 2.

Hello! I actually managed to do some exercise today despite being on holiday. No weights, so I stuck to cardio and did Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism.

clearsommespace · 28/10/2018 07:34

Well done oubliette.
How's everyone else doing? We have an extra hour today so no excuses (injuries excepted!)
After 10 days at L1 of 6 week 6 pack, I did L2 today. For those who don't know the 6 pack workout, there is is a long circuit of exercises which repeats once and when you repeat it is faster.
First time round of L2 I was thinking 'this isn't too bad, not physically harder than L1' but when they started speeding up I was totally lost.Shock
Some of the moves require a lot of coordination and others a lot of twisting so I decided I am better off sticking to a steady pace 2nd time around until I have mastered the moves. It doesn't help that JM doesn't always announce the next move so you don't know what it is until they have started.
I was still a sweaty mess by the end so it must have done some good. Grin

L2 gets easier once you’ve got used to the order of the exercises. I find it easier to mentally split each long circuit into 4 blocks of 5 exercises.

I did 6W6P L1 yesterday. I might go for a swim instead of Jillianing today.

Sturmundcalm · 28/10/2018 08:21

30DS - L1D5 done, with 3kg weights for the first time. think i'm going to feel it...

clearsommespace · 28/10/2018 11:18

That's good to know. I hadn't even counted the number of exercises.

mamahanji · 29/10/2018 15:48

I'm finally back! Shoulder back to normal. Horribly weak since I stopped now and level one was so hard.

But I did it and I feel great for getting back into it.

My aim is 20lbs weight loss.

mamahanji · 29/10/2018 17:39

Is everyone doing the 30day shred continuously or are they alternating with another?

clearsommespace · 30/10/2018 06:31

Great news. It is so frustrating when you lose strength, isn't it.
There's quite a mix of things going on here. 6 week 6 pack for me. It finally makes sense now I break it into 4x5 moves so that was really helpful, thanks oubliette. I presume that works for L1 too. I still have to do 5 more days of L1. Plan is to get to Day 10 of L2 then another 10 days alternating the levels.
I find this DVD hard but there aren't any moves I really hate.
Sturm how did your body react to the 3kg weights?

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 30/10/2018 07:20

eh.... Grin

this morning was L1D7, day 3 of using the 3kg weights. managed the last couple of days fine but definitely struggled this morning - even with things like the chest and back exercises which I normally find too easy!! i'm still doing modified push ups but had been getting much better, on the second set today i was doing more of a dip and tremble Confused

tomorrow will be a rest day because of work so hoping that when i come back to it i'll notice an improvement!

clearsommespace · 01/11/2018 06:46

Dip and tremble Grin A new move!
Sounds like you needed a rest day.
I also rested yesterday. Am about to start L2D4....

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 01/11/2018 07:07

just finished L1D8 - arms were better but i always find the cardio harder going after a rest day...

and since i'm here can i rant about jillian's commentary during the static lunge and bicep curl move cause she says "a few more" when there's about 10 to go on the first round and second time she says "couple more" when there's about 6 to go! Angry my brain hears "couple" and gets ready to switch up!

hope your rest day left you raring to go Smile

clearsommespace · 01/11/2018 07:50

Yes, she definitely has an issue with counting.
I've just worked out that at the end of L2 6 week 6 pack, she suggests we 'marinade' on what we've just done.
I certainly look like I've been marinaded when I've just finished the workout, in bright red 1980s Indian restaurant tandoori marinade!

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 01/11/2018 12:34

ha ha - yeah, i'm not finding level 1 as bad this time (must have got a bit fitter...) but level 3 left me scarlet and dripping which does have a kind of marinade vibe to it!

clearsommespace · 02/11/2018 14:24

Checking in to report L2D5 which means I am halfway through 6 week 6 pack Smile

Sturmundcalm · 02/11/2018 18:55

L1D9 this morning and the tendon above my right ankle went funny towards the end! can still feel it so have a horrible feeling i'm going to have to take a break - mwahhh!!!

totally rubbish - especially as i put on a dress today and it was noticeably looser than it used to be so it is making a difference...

clearsommespace · 03/11/2018 11:23

Oh no Sad.
I hope it's not serious.
