So is ripped the follow on from the shred?

clearsommespace · 16/10/2018 11:22

Wow that's dedication!

I don't think the DVDs come in any order.
But Ripped has a L4 ....

L4??? My body's aching just thinking about that 🙈

OublietteBravo · 16/10/2018 21:58

I went back to level 3 of the Shred today. Day 7. Only 3 more to go.

clearsommespace · 17/10/2018 11:09

Rest day today. Various commitments mean I will be cycling uphill a fair bit today so I'm glad I haven't worked out.
Having said that L1 6 week 6 pack is not too hard on the quads.

Day 3 done. I was really sore last night but not feeling quite so bad today. Will see how I am later though!

How many rest days do you have? I was under the impression it was a straight 30 day thing. Is that not right? I'm worried if I stop I'll lose my momentum.

clearsommespace · 17/10/2018 22:20

The first time I did Shred (in my late 30s) I did the whole 30 days without a rest. I'm not sure that it is advisable but I didn't know any better!
On other JM DVDs, she does say to take at least one rest day a week.
On the DVD I am currently doing, she says to workout at least 5 days a week.

L1 D5 of 6 week 6 pack. I'm starting to get to grips with it...

OP posts:
soloula · 19/10/2018 10:13

Having a rest day today. Did day 4 yesterday and noticed a big difference in my stamina from day 1. Muscle aches are much less. I was ice skating last night and I'm shattered. Back on it tomorrow with the shred. DH is off the weekend so I've told him to give me a boot up the arse if I suggest another rest day.

soloula · 19/10/2018 10:15

Is the 6 week 6 pack a lot more abs/floor work then?

OublietteBravo · 19/10/2018 19:18

i did 30DS L3D8 and Ri30 L3D3 (yesterday and today). Really need to exercise through the weekend as I’m going on holiday next week.

Sturmundcalm · 19/10/2018 21:15

don't think i actually confirmed that i did get to L3D10 of the 30DS but I did.

have just been doing bits and pieces since then - walking, yoga, pilates but nothing major. i think i'm going to try and do the 30DS again in a few weeks in a more concentrated way where i do it in a max of 40 days but i wondered about upping my weights and whether that would help build up my arm/shoulder strength in the earlier stages so i cope better with all of the walking push up type stuff in level 3?

i used 1.5kg weights last time - what has everyone else used?

clearsommespace · 20/10/2018 05:39

soloula 6 week 6 pack L1 feels about 60/40 matwork/other. There is a lot of plank cardio (plank jacks, mountain climbers, burpees) mixed in to get your heart rate up. So it's much more of a good all round workout than the name suggests.
I've only watched L2 but it seems to have less matwork.

clearsommespace · 20/10/2018 05:47

Congratulations Sturm.
I use a mix of weights: 1, 2 and 3kg. It depends on the move.
Sometime I'll even mix them up within the exercise, e.g 3kg first time around, 2 kg second time when my arms are tired.

30DS L3D9. Almost there...

I have 1kg and 3kg weights. I should probably get a 2kg set too. Like clearsomme I use different weights for different exercises.

soloula · 20/10/2018 21:58

I got a set of 2kg weights todayas I was only using 0.5kg ones I bought in Aldi donkeys ago. I really wasn't expecting the box to be quite so heavy - doesn't bode well for tomorrow morning! Will have to see how I get on.

Dhapeer · 21/10/2018 07:55

Hi - I've never clicked into this thread before. Could someone let me know how you follow this programme? Is it an app or a dvd or something? Thanks!

clearsommespace · 21/10/2018 17:25

Hi Dhapeer. I'm using DVDs.

I did Day 6 L1 of 6 week 6 pack this morning.

Soloula, have you tested your new weights?

OP posts:
soloula · 22/10/2018 10:17

I had a wee day off yesterday clearsommespace as my head was busting when I woke up. I did start but the jumping jacks were killing me. So today was my first day with the new 2kg weights. I managed ok with them. Struggled a tiny wee bit but not enough to want to switch down, except on the side lunge and arm lifts. Will see how I do tomorrow. I might get a lighter set just for that as I really was struggling.

I was out for a walk this morning. It's a really cold morning here and usually when I'm out walking I start to get a sweat on and end up taking off my scarf, cardi etc but this morning I managed ok. Was still fully dressed when I got home lol. I even came back the way that has big hills to see how I got on. So definitely noticing a difference with my fitness level after one week on the programme. No weight loss but it was DH's birthday last week so we had a few meals out and various celebrations. I didn't put weight on though despite what I ate so I'm hoping to start seeing results this week!

soloula · 22/10/2018 10:18

Dhapeer I downloaded the 30 day shred for a fiver on amazon.

clearsommespace · 22/10/2018 11:15

Yes, those side lunges with arm raises are tough. I think with too heavy weights there is a real risk of putting your back out. I don't think I used 2 kg on those until 2nd or 3rd time I did the Shred.

6w6p L1 day 7 today.

I’ve just done 30DS L3D10. Pleased to have finished it before my holiday. I will take my kit with me, but expect my exercising will be a bit erratic for the next couple of weeks.

NefretForth · 22/10/2018 21:06

I've been travelling for work, so had no hope of getting anything done last week, and then went to visit my family with DD for the weekend. All good but no exercise! Ri30 L1D5 done tonight. I feel particularly pleased I managed to get it done as I have a miserable cold.

I do the side lunges with arm raises with 1 kg weights - I use 2 kg for most of the other exercises.

tactum · 23/10/2018 09:02

Hi there, can I join? Just done L1D1 so am a complete newbie! Just using 1.5kg weights to start.

Should you be doing the unmodified version of L1 before you move up to L2? Or just move on after 10days regardless? I've literally never been able to push up! Found it okay apart from that.

clearsommespace · 23/10/2018 10:31

Congratulations oubliette! (Mumsnet needs a champagne emoticon)

Tactum, I think you can progress. You may have to adapt the other push up moves in future levels but if that's the only thing you can't manage, it would be a shame to be held back.

I did 6W6P L1 D8 this morning.
