I did Ripped L4 D5 this morning. Something went ping under my shoulder blade during the plank moguls. I hope it doesn't prevent me from finishing. Just two days to go.

OublietteBravo · 04/10/2018 19:47

Ri30 L2D6 today (30DS L3D5 yesterday).

clearsommespace · 05/10/2018 08:32

Ooh you're nearly ready for the rock 'n' roll fun of L3 Ripped.
L4 Ripped Day 6 yesterday and Day 7 today!! Hurrah!

I have decided to attempt 6 week 6 pack next but DVD won't arrive for another 10 days... so I think I'll do L1 Shred, then L1 Ripped, then L2 Shred and so on....

How are you all doing?

I’ve just finished off Ri30 L2. I remember the rock n roll things being OK, but the duck walks being horrible. Probably won’t start it until Monday.

Sturmundcalm · 06/10/2018 16:28

I've totally lost it... Blush

work was manic this week - long hours/staying away so did L3D7 of 30DS on Tuesday and then nothing! walked this morning cause it's a nice day and have more time at home this week so will definitely get it finished by Thursday, although may do an extra day or two to finish well.

then need to work out what i do next.

NefretForth · 06/10/2018 19:38

Cheer up, Sturmundcalm, I've also totally lost it - I did RI30 L1D1 at the beginning of September, then a cartoon grand piano fell on my head at work and I've done almost nothing since (though I did keep running with DD, and she's now done her mile run - time of 8 minutes 30 seconds, and she was about half way down the pack, which considering that she's one of the youngest in her year group is not bad going).

I have climbed out of the pit under the grand piano and am now back on it - RI30 L1 D2 done today. I've also been to a really rubbish Pilates class. L1D3 tomorrow, and my excellent yin yoga class in the evening.

Glad to see everyone else is being more diligent than I am!

Waitingonasmiley42 · 06/10/2018 20:35

I’ve only managed 30 day shred once this week so far. Level 3! Also ran 30km. Going to do 30DS level 1 tomorrow and I’ve written it here so I have to do it. Grin

clearsommespace · 07/10/2018 08:53

Nice to see you all again.
I'm impressed with all the running.

Look forward to your return when works calms down Storm

Yes oubliette those duck walks are the worst move.

I did Shred L1 just now. Felt like light relief after L4 Ripped. Grin Good timing as we have just finished a DIY project at the top of the house and today have to take all the contents of that room back up from the temporary storage area (two flights of stairs). There will be several trips so I am quite glad my quads are not shaking now.

L1 Ripped today.
L2 Shred tomorrow. Have to post it otherwise I won't do it. I really don't like it.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 10/10/2018 21:42

L3D9 of 30DS done this morning but I think I'm going to do a couple of extra days cause level 3 has been so broken up I don't think I've really felt I've "got" it...

I did some yoga off youtube last night for the first time and liked it well enough (not a huge fan of yoga but could do with greater flexibility) so may try that again as well over next few weeks and then pick another HIIT workout for the run up to Christmas. Also need to do more work on my arms/shoulders as I struggle with some of the ab/plank type stuff due to my arms rather than anything else.

clearsommespace · 11/10/2018 09:14

I find it's my wrists that suffer when I do a lot of planks. Not sure what I can do about that.
L2 Shred on Tuesday and L2 Ripped today. I managed the plank cardio circuit without a break. I feel so proud of myself and pleased that I am obviously so much fitter and stronger than this time last year.

Also my 6 week 6 pack DVD arrived earlier than expected. So I will start that next week.

Not planning any challenges for December because I can never get to bed at a sensible time with Christmas and DC birthday preparations. I know from experience I won't be up at 6 to exercise before work.

Yoga in December sounds like a good idea to ensure I am not too stiff when I start up again in January.

Hello. I’ve been travelling for work and haven’t had the best week. I did 30DS L3D6 on Monday and I’ve just done Ri30 L3D1 this evening. Ouch. My quads and triceps hurt!

NefretForth · 13/10/2018 12:26

RI30 L1D3 done (not too badly but I'm struggling with the push-ups at the moment). At the present rate I may finish L1 this month... I'm doing so badly at this - hoping to get more done this month than I did last, though! I really need to start getting up early again to work out, but even when I do get up early I'd so much rather ease into the day with coffee and a book.

I find my wrists suffer with planks too: I think that's why squat thrusts feel so hard, because they put so much pressure on the wrists. Plank jacks aren't so bad.

clearsommespace · 13/10/2018 19:24

I can still remember the 'ouch my quads' from L3 Ripped.
I get up ridiculously early so I can read the news online and cuddle the cat/come to before working out.
But I am a lark so it's not too hard provided I go to bed at a sensible time.

Shred L3 yesterday. Rest today although I went on a demonstration this afternoon and this evening feel wiped out from walking too slowly.

I'm starting 6 week 6 pack tomorrow.

OP posts:
NefretForth · 14/10/2018 17:08

I don't precisely wish I were a lark - I've had too much fun staying up late over the years - but it would make fitting in exercise an awful lot easier if I were! I'm a very owly owl, getting more so as I get older. (I also have the world's least cuddly cat: she drew blood earlier because I was sitting in the chair where she wanted to be.)

Ri30 L1D4 done. Push-ups slightly better than yesterday but I do seem to be particularly feeble in the upper body at the moment.

Was the demonstration good?

clearsommespace · 14/10/2018 21:38

It was good because there were 10 times as many people as last month. We were demonstrating in favour of serious govenmental action on climate change. I think the IPCC report published earlier in the week contributed to the increase in numbers of participants. But we were still less than 0.5 % of the population of the city. I'm not sure that's enough for politicians to react. Sad
Enjoyed 6 week 6 pack L1. Supposed to do 3 weeks ( 15 days) of each level. I think that might get boring. Although some of the moves are quite convoluted so I think I'll need more than 5 days to get used to them all.

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 14/10/2018 21:42

I alternate between L1 (mostly floor work) and L2 (mostly upright/cardio moves) when I’m doing 6W6P.

clearsommespace · 15/10/2018 04:09

That's a good idea.

OP posts:

Hey all, can I join in?

Planning to start today. Never done it before and quite excited and a bit nervous too. Was holding off until this week as it's the school holidays in Scotland and I've no plans so if I'm crippled for a few days as I'm fully expecting due to my appalling fitness levels then it's not such a big deal.

I lost 3 stone on WW last year then my weight loss (motivation) stalled. I've always relied on walking for exercise but feel I need that something extra, especially with the darker nights coming in.

Still got 2 stone-ish to go so hoping this gives me that final push and also helps do something about my awful mum tum.

Any tips before starting are more than welcome. I have a wee set of dumbbells- not sure what weught they are, right enough. Do I need anything else?

clearsommespace · 15/10/2018 08:07

Hello!
If you have hard floors, you'll need a gym mat.If you are like me and end up dripping in sweat, you might also want an old towel handy. Good luck!
I didn't feel my abs yesterday, despite lots of laughter at a family celebration but as soon as I started again today I could definitely tell they'd worked hard yesterday.

Upthread someone recommended Beginner Shred as a good starting workout for people with poor fitness.
I did not know about that so I dived in with the 30 day Shred and, despite having done a Davina workout a couple of times a week for quite a while, I was agony going up and stairs and for the first few days of Shred.
You definitely need to stretch for much, much longer than JM does.

Ok so just did my day 1 workout. Thanks for the towel tip -good call as I was a big sweaty mess. Grin Wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Maybe my walking has helped my fitness more than I had thought. I struggled to keep up towards the end of the cardio sections but pushed myself to keep going. Abs were awful so that's something I'm going to have to work on. I was really struggling to lift off the mat at all for the crunches and stuff andcreally conscious of trying to do it from my abs and not my head/neck. I finished about 20 mins ago and had a quick shower. Still a bit shaky but feeling ok. Hoping I'm not too sore tomorrow right enough as I know the day after is when you start to feel it. Feeling good just now though. Smile

OublietteBravo · 15/10/2018 20:39

I’m not enjoying L3 of Ripped in 30. After day 3 I’m finding it significantly harder than the previous levels. Ah well, only another 5 days to go...

clearsommespace · 16/10/2018 08:18

Good start soloula
oubliette it makes a such difference when you enjoy it, doesn't it.

D3 of 6 week 6 pack L1. I also fast forwarded through L 2 to get an idea. High knees in the warm up!?!

Day 2 done. Was feeling it when I woke up this morning but powered through. Dd2 (3) has hand foot and mouth and was up from 2.30-6am. I feel shattered but was determined not to skip the workout on only my second day. Old me would've been sat on the sofa with a cuppa way before now but I'm really trying to change habits for the better.
