Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

Thermo that’s fantastic, you’re going to look amazing on holiday.

We are away for the week end and I have been eating non stop Blush mainly due to that nasty tired hungry when you haven’t slept and you feel a bit faint like you need to eat iykwim as sleep has not been good for me. In good news I’m really hoping physical activity means I don’t gain weight. I did my usual gentle run this morning but lots of walking today, my pedometer says 25000 steps which I think is a pb!

yumyumpoppycat · 02/06/2018 23:07

That is utterly brilliant Roman Star

And also well done on no weight gain Reastie {hifive} similar for me - lovely holiday with lots of swimming and walking and ice cream, pasta, cocktails, wine, crisps, chocolate, bread, ham and cheese and only half a pound or so up so not too bad! Before holiday was different when most of the clothes I bought and tried on at home didn't fit necessitating an emergency bigger size shopping spree.

On slightly less positive note I banged my head on holiday when our dinghy thing tipped up on a flume so I might have to give it a day or too before exercising.

Purple well done for even going in the horse field Shock you are braver than me. That horse probably wanted to be friends, I have been followed home by a cat but nothing as exciting as a horse Grin

Purpleraindeer · 03/06/2018 18:18

Yay roman! Star it sounds like you’ve cracked it - I think the biggest achievement was your bank hol weekend which would have been a big temptation to overeat etc and you didn’t - I think that shows the diet is becoming habit which is the key to losing weight and keeping it off. I’m really pleased for you.

Good work for you too reastie. I’m boggling at the number of steps you’ve done. How do you manage that in a single day? It must be 10miles?! I’m pleased if I do 10k.

Hope the head is ok today poppy. Sounds like a bit of a design flaw in the ride

I did tabata strength last night which I’ve not done for ages. There are no rests! Shock (apart from the 10secs after each move). I was a bit broken by the end. I did my long run today. Stupidly I went at 1.30 so it was roasting. Managed 12miles but it was a big struggle and I had to walk a few times. I think I was pretty dehydrated by the end. I’ve drunk 4 pints of water since I got back at 3.30 and I’ve only just been to the loo. Shock

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 03/06/2018 20:10

Still away in holiday and still eating way too much. My clothes are feeling a bit snug atm compared to last summer and I’m panicking a bit. I’m still really struggling with hunger coming off my anxiety medication and lack of proper workouts meaning less calorie burn. It’s a bad combo. I feel like I spend my life atm feeling ravenous and shaky with hunger, I can’t remember the last time I felt full even after eating loads. I need tips to help me feel full, please [desperate].

Purple is your back all back to normal now? 12 miles sounds absolutely epic, huge well done. I once read running over an hour you should carry water (but I never did as found it a faff) and it was hot today too.

Steps today is good at 15000 but not beating yesterday’s pb! We are staying somewhere where the beach is about a mile away and we keep walking to and from so steps are adding up!

Yumy how’s the head after dingy banging? Hope you’re back on workouts soon, good move to give it a bit of time.

yumyumpoppycat · 03/06/2018 23:19

Reastie I have never managed it but I think avoiding snacking can help as less insulin is released over the course of the day.

Wow 12 miles in the heat that is amazing purple! well done on Tabata too.

Head still a bit sore but hopefully nothing major - am just a bit paranoid about head bumps.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 04/06/2018 06:15

Interesting yumy re snacking. I’ve always found that I eat a lot less through eating little and often. I’d eat less if I had say half of my lunch at 11 and half at 2 than if I had just one meal. I know that sounds counter productive and what works for one does the opposite of others but for me keeping blood sugar stable with regular smaller amounts seems to be how I eat less. I could be going about it all wrong though. Gah. I’m going to do some googling on things to eat to fill me up.

Purpleraindeer · 04/06/2018 09:19

Reastie - try to up your protein. According to ‘thinner, leaner, stronger’ I should be eating 120g protein per day and I’m c55kg. That is a LOT. I try to eat 100g + and if I manage that I stay pretty full on 1400 Cals per day.

Having said all that I am 1kg up on pre hol weight and 2.5kg up on what I’d like to weigh so I might need to start taking my own advice!!

Purpleraindeer · 04/06/2018 09:26

Thought you might all be interested in this article. I found it quite encouraging

BroomstickOfLove · 04/06/2018 09:33

Hello. I should gned up to Beachbody on demand after months of no exercise , and I'm really enjoying it, although it's slightly alarming how much fitness I've lost. Still, that means I should improve fairly quickly.

BroomstickOfLove · 04/06/2018 09:34

I may expire of DOMS though, until I adjust.

Theromanempire · 04/06/2018 09:57

Welcome broomstick Smile which workouts are you doing? A specific programme or mixing it up?

reastie I have always been hungry all the time and it is an absolute nightmare 😩 my hunger is much more manageable now on this diet and I don't know if it is because I am planning my food each day and ensuring snacks are included (even if it means eating smaller meals).

Managed a 80DO cardio core and AAA workout this weekend so feeling good although my weight shot up 3lbs overnight 😱 trying not to panic because it's all about daily weigh ins and looking at your weekly average plus I think it may be TOTM 🤞🤞

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 04/06/2018 15:53

Welcome Broomstick, have you been on this thread before? I am really interested in BBOD, very tempted but need to use my dvds more!

Personally I can't do the no snack thing myself either Reastie! The little and often thing isn't supposed to be the best for blood sugar control. If you check out the 5:2 thread they discuss it a lot on there. I do usually like a cut off of 7.00 pm then food is off limits unless a special occasion and I put up with being a bit hungry but the boundary helps me resist usually and the hunger passes. Agree re upping protein and planning meals in advance - also actively including veg helps fill me up when I eat like that I usually feel pretty good. Apparently nuts are good and don't cause weight gain despite high cals.

yumyumpoppycat · 04/06/2018 15:55

TOTM is a bugger for that Roman! In a couple of days it will prob be back off plus a bit extra.

Theromanempire · 04/06/2018 16:58

yum I hope so! Realistically I know I can't have put 3 pounds on but the scales mess with your head! My periods are pretty much non-existent these days so it's difficult to know that it is TOTM but I've got all my usual symptoms so I am assuming so.

OP posts:
YuleABUnREASTIEable · 04/06/2018 18:42

Thermo 3 lbs overnight is impossible surely. I bet you’ll wee it all out Wink . I like the idea of daily weigh ins and taking a weekly average, that makes a lot of sense.

Yumy that’s really interesting, I always thought little and often was better for blood sugar as it didn’t get too low. My issue is I can’t let myself get to the overly hungry point as then it sets off my ibs so there’s a limit to how much hunger I can ever deal with (which is why I could never do 5:2). I’ve read almonds are a good snack option and I like the nut idea. Mid morning I usually have a banana and dried fruit/nut bar so I might try swapping the bar to almonds. Going to try and weigh in tomorrow and hope I didn’t put any weight as back from holiday now. I eat a lot of fruit and veg (usually roughly 8 portions a day) to bulk out what I eat. I think I might try carrot sticks dipped in peanut or almond butter too. Maybe I’ll reduce my bowl and plate size again too as I always fill whatever size I have!

Hi broomstick, you’ll get right back into it and the Doms will go!

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 04/06/2018 18:44

Oh, do any of you take any probiotics or stuff to help your stomach stay healthy? Am thinking of trying that too to see if it can sort out my internal workings of my tummy and maybe even help my hunger.

Theromanempire · 05/06/2018 06:44

reastie I've tried to find a Team RH video which explains why daily weigh ins are much better than weekly ones but I can't work out how to link it! In summary, it deals with normal daily fluctuations.

Think my scales have gone screwy as today's weight is 8lbs down on yesterday's 🙈🙈 I would love for it to be true but clearly it isn't. I'm waiting for DS2 to get up and I'll weigh him as I know what he weighs 😂

I don't take probiotics or anything but I also have IBS so I am really wary about taking anything that might trigger it off!

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 05/06/2018 15:29

I don't take probiotics but keep reading how good they are, I have some impulse buy from sainsburys kefir which has been unopened in my fridge for ages Blush

Roman there was a thread on here yesterday 'what can I eat' or something like that and Team RH got quite a few glowing mentions. PS try a new battery in your scale. Putting scales on top of carpet can also give wonky readings. fingers crossed for 8lbs though Grin

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 05/06/2018 20:53

Agree with weird carpet readings. A couple of weeks ago I moved my scales from the bathroom (hard floor) into bedroom (carpet) and in the few metres walk I lost over 30lbs!!

I keep reading too about stomach bacteria and how they think it might be a cure for so many things to sort the gut bacteria colonies out, I think it’s going to be a big thing in the future. I’ve found some things on amazon I’m tempted to try, they have really good reviews but it’s really expensive.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 05/06/2018 20:58

this is it . Think it might’ve been mn I initially saw it recommended on.

Purpleraindeer · 05/06/2018 21:37

I think the thing about blood sugar control is a bit of a myth reastie. Providing you’re not diabetic you release insulin to manage your blood sugar so it can never get too low. You don’t eat any sugar anyway so it wouldn’t be spiking from that.

I think I have reverse body dysmorphic disorder. Instead of thinking I’m bigger than I really am, I do the opposite. I always think of myself as an ok weight, then today I went to buy some new running leggings and was a bit Shock when I saw my thick stumpy legs!! It doesn’t help that I’m in London today and everyone is tall and thin here it seems.

At least I’ve stuck to my Cals on mfp for the last 2 days.....

Theromanempire · 06/06/2018 10:20

Purple I have that aswell. I look in the mirror at home and think I look half decent then catch a glimpse of myself out/be trying stuff on in changing rooms etc and am horrified by what I see!

reastie I have seen a few threads where people recommend Team RH but they are usually drowned out by others saying you need to do more cardio and less weights/cut your calories down to 1000 which is the totally opposite of the Team RH ethos. I always find dieting threads so frustrating as it is just a lot of people quoting all different types of diets because it worked for them so it must be really confusing for the person asking! To really 'get' Team RH, you have to watch his videos as he talks so much sense in a really understandable way and ignore the constant swearing Grin

So I fixed my scales - the battery had been dislodged slightly but I am baffled as to how that would enable them to still work but just weigh half a stone less Hmm Anyway, I put the battery back in and it was back to normal again so no 8lb loss Wink I do still seem to be weighing heavy this week - anybody know how long it takes for TOTM weight to disappear??

Did Total Body Cardio Fix followed by Pilates Fix last night - I actually have DOMS this morning on my thighs which I have not had for months! It would appear that 80DO has made me crave longer workouts as TBC fix was just not enough last night Shock

Joel's (from CDF Joel and Jericho) new workout preview is on BBOD at the moment with open access to everyone. I watched it and it looked ok - it's 30 minutes with about 15 minutes of weight lifting followed by 3 x 90 seconds of HIIT moves then 2 x core moves. From what I can gather, that is pretty much the format throughout and there are only 4 workouts per week - not sure how that can be enough to get shredded (as he alleges) but are we just so used to exercising 5/6 times a week but actually don't need to?

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 07/06/2018 21:02

My totm seems to last a few days. Sorry to hear your 8lb is ‘back’. I ‘lost’ 1.5kg between mon and weds this week so it does show how much daily fluctuation there is.

That new workout sounds like a great format. I might try it actually.

Was shattered last night and really couldn’t face working out but remembered I needed to wash my hair so felt I had to do a workout to justify the shower...it wasn’t that bad once I got going. I must remember that for next time. Cardio challenge tonight. Was a bit stop start as the kids kept needing water/cuddle/whatever would buy them a few more minutes before bed. Am planning to do my long run tomorrow night, then rest day on sat. Phew. I feel like I’ve had a long week work wise so I need a break

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 08/06/2018 06:37

Purple when your dc interrupt you when working out do you pause the dvd or just keep it going but deal with it quickly? I get really cross and shouty Blush as I like to concentrate Blush and I’m not shouty in most other situations ever and always feel bad. In my defence do warn dd when I’m going to do it and that I won’t be able to help her for the next x minutes and to ask her to let me know before I start if she needs anything...

Good news in that did ba for first time in a month or so due to dodgy back. Did the 30 minute one and took it gently but doesn’t seem to be any ill effects :)

Thermo love that 30 minute workouts are no longer enough for you! Can’t help on totm weight disappearing I’m afraid. I think it’s different for everyone as weirdly as most people get bloated with pmt and put on a little I’m the opposite and am always my lowest weight with pmt!

Watched a really interesting programme on carbs on bbc the other evening. It talked about the whole reheating potatoes/toasting bread from frozen to make it better for you that I heard about from here. It annoyed me a bit as it was very anti pasta and white rice but when it gave alternatives that were healthy it gave, say bulgar wheat but didn’t mention brown rice or whole grain pasta which I’d assume was better. I’m reducing my potato intake (was having every day!) and having more quinoa/brown rice. They had a test for how much of a carby person you are/how likely carbs will effect you more by chewing a small plain cracker and waiting until you can taste a sweetness from it. The quicker you can taste it the better you are with carbs from a health perspective. Some people never got the wpsweetness at all and they are the ones that have to be extra careful with the carbs they eat. Anyway, the programme explained it much better than me!

Theromanempire · 10/06/2018 13:36

Reastie my DC are 11and 9 so I think a bit older so they know to stay out of the way when we are exercising. However if they do start arguing or annoying us, they tend to get shouted at Blush mainly because I am usually struggling to breathe and I haven't got time to deal reasonably with them Wink

Interesting about carbs - I do feel I am a bit of a carb monster but interestingly I rarely hit my carb macro on this diet (am always over on my fat though Blush)

So, I have definitely had a weight shift this week - yay! I have lost all my TOTM and yesterday I could not stop peeing and this morning, I am at a new low of 2lbs on my previous lowest Smile So I am 18lbs down in total in 9 weeks which is amazing (even if I do say so myself Wink)

Did a very old-school Body Combat workout yesterday which I found on Youtube. It was from about 2007 and was the first one I ever did - the music is bloody amazing and it was always my favourite. Absolutely loved doing it and made me really yearn for combat classes Sad
