Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

Thermo that is incredible, you’re making me think about trying it! You must notice such a difference in how your body looks, have more people been commenting yet?

Went for a run on Saturday then felt rubbish afterwards, really achey in an ill way. Have been taking it easy since and got a killer headache yesterday which hasn’t shifted today so I’m actually in bed :( was due for body balance but just can’t do it atm. Gah, I hope the headache shifts soon as I’ve got so much I need to do!

Purple how was the long run?

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 11/06/2018 08:41

Ps thermo can I have the link to the combat workout? It sounds fun!

Purpleraindeer · 11/06/2018 09:15

2lb per week is fantastic roman! 18lbs is a massive amount. You must be really seeing/feeling the difference now. Brilliant.

Hope you feel better later poppy. Sounds like you’re poorly so no point exercising until you feel better.

Reastie - I always pause the workout if the kids interrupt it. I normally don’t mind the little break except when I’ve started late and I then realise that it’s just making my dinner later and later.

Long run was good. Early evening is a nice time to go actually. Was nice and cool and lots of nice evening sun. It was also good to get back and be able to relax rather than just dashing around and getting on with the day. Might make it a regular summer feature. I also wore my new lululemon leggings which were expensive but look fab. I’m in love Smile

Struggling with my eating. Was really disciplined mon - thurs but then fri - sun really struggled as I didn’t have too much influence over what was available so hence ate badly. Ended the week basically at the same weight as I started. Angry. I need to think about how I could do better this week - I need some of Romans magic!

Theromanempire · 11/06/2018 10:18

Reastie poor you with the headache - hope it shifts soon and you can get on with stuff. As I always tell my 2 DC, rest and sleep is the best cure! I will find you the link for the combat workout in a mo - it isn't an official one but someone filming themselves teaching a class but you can hear and see everything clearly so it is fine. Starts with a bit of Chesney Hawkes so, in my mind, you can't go wrong Grin

Purple well done on the long run, when is the half marathon? You are easily going to smash it. I am so going to treat myself to some fancy workout clothes when I have reached my target but for now I am making do with old tops and some cheapo pants from Sports Direct Wink

Nobody else (other than my colleague) has commented on my weight so I am guessing it isn't that noticeable yet. I am tall and have a big frame so 18lbs on me is a mere drop in the ocean. However, I can tell and my clothes are so much more comfortable. I am wearing a skirt today that I wore a lot last summer but could barely do up (in fact I think I might have worn it with the zip never fully done up Wink) and it fits perfectly now. I have also just ordered a pair of size 14 trousers from M&S Shock they are the really loose, harem style ones but I bought a size 16 a few weeks ago and they are so baggy (beyond what they are supposed to be). Am expecting them to be delivered today so will let you know. No doubt they will be ridiculously tight and I will feel like sh*t again for a while Confused

Anyway, need to exercise this morning as I am busy tonight so going to do Extreme Circuit which I have not done in ages then probably a stretch video - am feeling in the need for a good stretch!

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 11/06/2018 10:23

Here it is. It is a series of videos (each track is a separate video) but it automatically moves to the next video so it isn't really an issue. Ignore the first few minutes of the first video as well as it is the instructor giving out an award Grin

Let me know what you think - I just think it is one of those rare workouts where the music and moves just work!

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 11/06/2018 10:24

If the link doesn't work, search Bodycombat 39 on youtube and it should be the first result - an album of 10 videos posted by 'angelkeui'.

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 11/06/2018 12:20

Hope your feeling better Reastie - I think Roman is right about rest - a good sleep can make the world of difference.

Roman the link does work Grin looks fun I will try it soon.

Have basically been very bad an not exercised or dieted all week. A bit annoyed as I will prob be back at square 1 with walk/run/jogging.

Purple your leggings sound wonderful!

Thinking of moving on to Hammer and chisel - maybe with some jogging in park too. Did an autumn balance chisel workout so I will prob be sore tomorrow.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 11/06/2018 12:36

Thank you, I’ve spent the morning in bed ( Shock really unusual for me, I never do that) and have got up to do a little ironing and get some lunch. Feeling really disappointed I’ll be behind schedule with workouts but maybe a blessing in disguise with my current dodgy back.

Yumy I bet you won’t be back to square one and after getting back into it you’ll, be back on form. Jogging in the park sounds great. What do people listen to when running? I was listening to music but I’ve started listening to podcasts which I’m really enjoying. Listened to Michael Mckintyres audiobook a few months ago which cheered me up whilst running. I got a bit bored with boom boom boom music and it’s nice to have talking to listen to and mentally feels a bit more sociable (if that makes sense, it’s quite lonely sometimes running alone).

Thermo cheesy chesney? You’ve sold me! I was once in a lift with the one and only himself! The secret site has the same BA but the original with Dan and Rachel but I can’t get the video to work, not sure if it’s a site, iPad or video issue thing.

Purple at least there was no gain, and you’re back on it now. Run sounds lovely.

Purpleraindeer · 12/06/2018 20:57

I listen to podcasts when I run too reastie. Mostly current affairs. I’m really up to date on things now. Also it helps me slow down. I have a tendency to go off a bit fast if music is on. Hope you’re feeling a bit better. Listen to your body. If you don’t want to exercise, don’t. You have a lot of discipline, so if you don’t feel like it then you know something is wrong. I felt knackered on sun and so missed a workout. It turned out to be that I had taken an antihistamine which wasn’t non drowsy. I was zonked out

Have been good on eating and exercise so far this week (yes, it’s only tues so that isn’t a massive achievement really). Tabata Power last night and sweat intervals tonight. I saw core speed has just gone on secret site - I think that’s the t25 bonus workout?

Poppy - you’re definitely catastrophising about one bad week. With running I was always told you keep the fitness gains of a run for the same number of days as you run miles. So, if all your runs are 5miles then you need to do that every 5 days to maintain the same fitness. So it doesn’t all go overnight. Well - I hope not anyway - that would be very unfair!!

Have a good evening all

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 12/06/2018 21:07

Well done purple, sounds like a much more positive week for you.

my terrible headache still hasn’t gone and I’ve been off work with it today :( likely I’ll try and get a gp apt tomorrow as it’s really debilitating and completely unlike me.

Did bodybalance 30 min balance dvd but was really just stretches not a workout but I felt so bad at doing nothing since Saturday and needed to at least try something.

Theromanempire · 14/06/2018 18:14

Hope everyone is ok?

Reastie hope your headache has long gone now and you are feeling much better?

Purple Core Speed is a fab workout (it's been on the secret site all along but for some reason has just been pushed to the top). It goes really quick and has some good moves in (I think it is slightly easier than Speed 2.0 but I do modify the burpees so that might have something to do with it Grin)

Did Total Body Core from phase 2 of 80DO yesterday so still mixing it up. Rest day today and may be tomorrow as I am supposed to be going out tomorrow night and I would have to get up at 5 to exercise Wink

I have a little list on my phone of different milestones for my weight loss journey (half stone loss, weighing under 15 stone etc plus some NSV ones too) and I managed to tick another one off today which was to wear my favourite pair of trousers (which I haven't been able to fit into for about 2 years!) to work Grin Only about another 12 milestones to tick off now....Wink

OP posts:
YuleABUnREASTIEable · 14/06/2018 18:46

Thermo that is fantastic with the trousers. The rate you’re going youllhave to add more milestones to the list!

Headache has literally just gone (nearly). Turns out it might be due to acupuncture on back last week as there was a new bit she put it in on the backs of my knees that stretch to a pint that goes behind the eyes! Would account for the otherwise weird occurrence of killer headache. Still not on top form but desperate to get back into gear so did 30 minute BA gently this morning, was fabulous to get back into it but so unfit! It’ll come back... physio said I can do 4 workouts next week and 5 the following, hurrah, hopefully I am getting back on track (albeit modified injured track!). Weird how acupuncture can effect you so much.

Purpleraindeer · 16/06/2018 09:11

Roman that’s a really good idea about milestones. It’s good to focus on other things as well as weight. You’ve reminded me that I had some fitness milestones (10k run time, getting through a particular max30 workout without maxing etc). I might think of some new ones.

Reastie - how odd that acupuncture did that. I have always been a bit skeptical about acupuncture but i do think it does something even if we don’t totally understand what or why. It really sorted out a muscular thing in my back I remember.

Have been ticking along this week. Diet good. Rest day thurs as I was really tired. Did dirty 30 extreme yesterday. Was frustrated that The moves are both arms and legs and you need a much heavier move to work the legs than I can handle for the arm bit. So I tried one legged squats/upright row with my 8kg dumbbells. My bum is killing this morning and I only managed 4 on each side - so definitely worth trying some heavier weights even for a small number of reps. Will do a max 30 later and long run tomorrow. Have a good day all Smile

Theromanempire · 16/06/2018 11:37

Purple I have to admit that I struggle with moves that need to use arms and legs for the same reason - really annoys me! I also struggle with squats where you hold the weights at your shoulders as I need heavy weights for squats but there is no way I can hold heavy weights at my shoulders for a minute so I tend to hold them by my sides instead Confused

I have just done an old school combat workout and then I decided to tag on 2 of my fave high intensity body attack tracks as a 'finisher' then the body attack leg/abs track then I did 3 x 10 sets of push ups...I am now officially knackered Grin Big news - I managed 5 push ups on my toes and I managed to get about halfway down Grin big improvement on my pathetic efforts previously where I just about managed to dip my body a teeny bit Blush Next target is to get at least one all the way down to the floor Wink

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 17/06/2018 16:53

Well the heavy weights/small reps thing worked as I have been extremely sore for 2 days! I don’t get sore much these days so I’m a bit Shock.

That’s fab on the press ups roman. It doesn’t seem that long since you did your first unmodified press up so that’s massive progress. I don’t get down to the floor each time. I just aim for upper arms parallel to the floor. I’ll see if I can get to the floor. I bet I can’t!

I ended up being too sore/not having enough time to do a max 30 yesterday. Something must have been up as I fell asleep on the sofa at 6.30pm. Did my long run today. 14.6miles! Was aiming for 12 but obviously got that a bit wrong. I told DH where I was going and he said that sounded like a long way. I should have listened to him! Bum and legs still super sore now after those bloody squats. I’ve tried to stay on my feet post run as that seems to help with soreness but not been too successful. I did have a massive steak lunch post run though so maybe that’s good for muscle repair?! It was delicious so at some level I just don’t care.....

Theromanempire · 18/06/2018 09:51

purple well done on running 14.6 miles - so impressive! The half marathon is going to be a breeze isn't it? Do you fancy going further and doing a marathon?

Next time I do a full push up, I am going to see if my upper arms are parallel to the floor - I think they are but will check. Autumn does say that everyone's flexibility is different and some people will never get their chest to the floor but then Shaun T insists that your chest should reach the floor...who to believe?? Hmm

Did T25 Upper focus and Dynamic Core double yesterday which was fun. I am glad we didn't decide to repeat 80DO again after we finished it first time as I thin I would have been very bored by it now - loving just picking workouts on an ad-hoc basis and am making a conscious effort not to just pick the ones I like Grin Might start 80DO and go through it from start to finish again after my holiday as that would take us up to the end of October (ish) at that point.

Rest day today as the football is interfering with my workout schedule Grin Will do a half hour one before I go to clubbercise tomorrow evening to make up Wink Need to stay focused - 4 weeks till my hols and I have come so far that I am not going to let it slide now (there will be enough of that on holiday Grin)

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 19/06/2018 21:45

Im not remotely tempted by a marathon. It demands so much more time. I’m already finding a 2hr run once in the weekend hard to fit in. It would be worse at 3.5hrs. I was also totally ruined on Sunday night. I was really tired, legs so sore and was really not functioning well at all. Given that my longest run previously was 12.5miles I think the jump in length was too much. But it reminded me of how dreadful I felt after 20milers when I did mara training. I was still really sore from the squats yesterday too and was walking like a duck. Better today and I did Friday fight. It felt boiling hot in the house tonight and was hard work.

I love doing what you’re doing roman and mixing up the workouts. I hadn’t realised you had finished 80do. Did you do anything to measure your progress and see how you improved over the 80days? I did that once with a fit test pre and post insanity. It was very motivational to see how much better I had got.

Hope you’re all well

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 20/06/2018 14:35

Purple your running progress is outstanding. I know what you mean with th aching and tired after long run as I felt like that once I’d got to 90 minute runs (I’m much more of a lightweight than you!).

Thermo I’m seriously contemplating getting an exercise bike so I can watch tv whilst doing something physical, that would work with football! Only thing stopping me is I just don’t have space for it (or else the dining room really will be more of a home gym than actual dining room) and I don’t want cyclists big thighs! Super well done on push up, that’s brilliant progress. I’d go with push ups being arms parallel to the floor and it seems to make most sense to get the depth but not put unecesarey pressure on the body to make injury more likely (I’m rather scared of injury now though!).

So I did a 6k run on Saturday after doing pretty much nothing the previous week due to headache. On Monday I did an hours bodystep and this morning did 40 minute body attack. Feeling like I’m getting back into to workouts but huffing and puffing and struggling physically through it. Weirdly the backs of my knees have been hurting to the point I actually couldn’t do post workout stretch without shuffling and yelling in pain Blush. Wondering if I can do some foam rolling on backs of knees to see if that’ll help.

Hoping for body balance tomorrow then rest on Friday.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 20/06/2018 14:36

Big calves not big thighs!

Purpleraindeer · 21/06/2018 20:35

How are the backs of your knees reastie? You win the prize for the most random DOMS ever! Cycling wouldn’t give you massive calves or thighs, unless you started training like Victoria Pendleton. Maybe that is what you’re planning?!

Cardio challenge yesterday then tabata Power today. Felt amazing for cardio challenge - really fit and I pushed hard. I think it might have been because it was the first day my legs hadn’t been sore since Friday last week. Blush hopefully long run tomorrow night.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 21/06/2018 21:03

Yay for pushing hard and feeling fit purple. Hope you have an ace run and don’t overdo it this time!

Backs of knees thank goodness are better than yesterday (although knees in general aren’t great atm) so did body balance. See, whenever I have cyclists in front of me when I’m driving they a,ways have hugely wide and muscular calves and my mum used to go to the gym (not a huge amount) and mainly went on the exercise bike and got big calves to the point even now years later she can’t fit long boots over her otherwise slim legs. It’s put me off Shock .

Purpleraindeer · 23/06/2018 08:51

We live in an area full of cyclists. I’ll watch out for the calves. I met Chris hoy once and his thighs were rather spectacular! Blush

Did my long run - ‘only’ 10miles. Was pleased to have managed that as was my 4th day of exercise and normally I do 3 then a rest. I’m feeling tired now so day off today

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 23/06/2018 14:39

Only 10 miles?! Shock . Well done purple, rest day we’ll deserved.

Did a quick cycle ride this morning (bulk up my calves!!) mainly as didn’t have time for a run as had to take dd to a fair and have to leave an hour after breakfast before a run whereas can sneak a cycle in earlier than that after food. Only half an hour as was in a rush but better than nothing. Hoping for today’s run tomorrow.

Purpleraindeer · 25/06/2018 07:44

Did my usual Monday am weigh in. Why is it that on Monday mornings I generally weigh 1kg more than I do the rest of the week. Weird, right? It is most unmotivational

Also did dirty30 yesterday.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 25/06/2018 10:21

Purple may I recommend moving your weigh in away from a Monday Wink .

Did p90x legs today, first time I’ve done that one in a couple of years I think. It was nice for a change and hopefully legs won’t ache too much tomorrow! In a way I preferrred it to p90x3 legs but it did go on and on at 58 minutes in length!

I found some old videos of family holidays from when I was a teenager and wow I looked huge in comparison to now! I was a size 16-18 then and 12 now. Was motivating to see how far I’ve come and how much fitter I am now.
