Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

I did tabata power today too. Although I just did normal press ups. Oops. I don’t listen to Shaun t anymore so I missed that they were supposed to be tricep ones.

I did sweat intervals last night and didn’t max out! Woo hoo. I’m not sure it really ‘counts’ as I was tired so moving a bit slowly at the beginning.

yumyumpoppycat · 16/05/2018 23:10

Purple that is amazing about not maxing out! Well done Star You are way fitter than most of the cast!

You don't listen to shaun T Shock Wink does make me laugh when he gets all defensive about speaking in the 3rd person though!

Theromanempire · 17/05/2018 18:46

Hi all, just checking in.

No idea about sweat intervals but I am guessing not maxing out is a great thing so well done purple Smile

And I cannot do tricep presses at all! I hate them (and there is a ton of them in 80DO).

Not much to report here - pottering along with a hybrid exercise schedule and my diet. Have lost almost a stone so far...just wondered when you think that people start to notice? Not that I want other people's compliments oh no of course not but surely after a stone, I must look different?? Although I know on a big frame like mine, a stone is a mere drop in the ocean so maybe not Confused

OP posts:
YuleABUnREASTIEable · 17/05/2018 19:30

Purple you are a machine!! Well done, you beat insanity max! Mucho respect and going a bit slower at the start totally doesn’t take away the lack of maxing out. Anosolutely in awe and a little bit jealous!

Yumy tricep push-ups are definitely the hardest sort of push up, I don’t think I’ve ever done a full one on my toes but the more you do the better you get!

Thermo that’s amazing work on the stone, well done. FWIW I lost over 2 stone before anyone seemed to notice. It was really disheartening but you can see the difference and how clothes look. Has it swayed your dh into trying macro diet yet? Surely he must be tempted seeing how well you’re doing on it.

Went for another gentle jog yesterday. That’s my week’s quota I’m allowed until Saturday :( . Went to a park as was on way to work and don’t normally run there and forgot about the dog issue until I saw dogs on the walk . Luckily all were on leads but one still chased and jumped on me as the owner didn’t see me so didn’t reign the dog in in time. I’m wondering maybe I should do a loud cough to alert dog walkers should they not notice me in the hope it helps...

Back is still playing up so not sure I should bring back BA etc yet. Looks like another gentle jog over the week end and then see how things are.

Theromanempire · 18/05/2018 11:16

Reastie 2 stone?? I have got a way to go then Grin I feel so much better which is the important point and my clothes are so much comfier. In fact I bought a new pair of work trousers from M&S a couple of weeks ago as my old faithful ones were literally falling apart and looking really scruffy. I wore the new ones yesterday and they were bordering on being too big Shock which means I will probably get a maximum of 2 months wear out of them - waste of money!! What did you do about buying clothes whilst you were in the process of losing weight? I want to look good but don't want to waste money either Hmm

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 18/05/2018 20:18

Wow - a stone roman?! That’s come off fast. Brilliant. I think people noticed my weight loss at a stone so I’m sure the compliments are coming! I think people are a bit nervous about commenting these days. I bet they wil if they see you in new clothes. I waited until I got to a weight I was happy with and then went through my wardrobe and threw away everything which didn’t fit or looked old/knackered. I was left with 1 top! I then had a very satisfying trip to the shops.

Reastie - sorry to hear you had another dog issue. I wouldn’t cough, I’d just loudly ask them to hold their dog. And give them the evil eye if they don’t!

Friday fight today. Argh. Hard work. Maxed at 10mins and lots of small stops after that. Have had a sore back for the last 2 days (it’s from having tight hamstrings apparently) so did lots of stretching which I’m hoping will help. The balls of my feet are sore from all the jumping. I’m like an achy old lady at the moment Shock

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend

yumyumpoppycat · 19/05/2018 12:24

Amazing Roman! I didn't get many people commenting on my weightloss for ages, then I started to get the you are too thin now comments pretty much straight after that!

Reastie that is annoying - I managed a hassle free run today - I even ran past a few dog's off leads following Purple's no eye contact tip - however there are so many dog's in our park I must have looked pretty strange running around firmly looking away from any dogs!

Purple maybe you need a massage or nice soak in a tub. Hope your back feels better soon Flowers

So had planned a run, then totm arrived this morning so was going to put it off but went anyway. I did cto5k and managed the 2 x 5 mins jogs fine for first time and was able to feel pleased when Michael Johnson said 'fantastic well done!' I wasn't sure if map my run was working properly so then turned it off and back on and manged an extra mile in 7 minutes 24, which if it was correct, I am really happy with.

Have a lovely weekend all

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 20/05/2018 11:36

Thermo I went through 5 dress sizes Shock and I ended out getting stuff from charity shops as I was only in some sizes for a few months and it would’ve been wasted money to buy nice fancy stuff. Things like skirts are good as you can buy then a size smaller and they do up really high in the waist or not quite fully zipped.

Yumy that sounds great work on the run. I did a gentle run yesterday but my back is still playing up :( I’ve gone from burning in the region of 1500 cals or so a week to less than half that so weight gain is inevitable I imagine as I’m struggling a lot with hunger atm. I realised my hunger could be down to the fact I’m reducing my anti depressant medication, down to a half dose now. Have decided to due to ttc as it’s not ideal to be on and gp has said I would need to come off it before giving birth anyway or baby could get withdrawal effects after birth Shock . When I went on medication I lost a stone in a month as it gave me no appetite as my body got used to it, I’m wondering if the reverse might be the case coming off it?

Purple hope you’re not too sore today.

yumyumpoppycat · 21/05/2018 23:40

Hope your back is on the mend Purple?

Reastie - maybe the best plan is to log your cals on MFP until you are back exercising more - set it for maintenance at the sedentary level? Any exercise you do manage will just be a bonus that way. It only need be a short term thing? Hope injury heals up soon.

Roman I think stretchy clothes are the way to go. I was lucky as my sister gave me lots of smaller clothes she didn't want any more (she buys way more clothes than I do and gives stuff away that looks brand new half the time). I am also terrible for hoarding clothes that are too big/small rather than clearing them out.

Chalean Burn level 1 done today - I felt quite out of breath by the end as I skip all the chat!
Feeling very flabby at the moment - which is weird because I have lost a couple of lbs.

Purpleraindeer · 22/05/2018 07:08

Poppy - you did a mile in 7.24?! That is seriously impressive. Well done.

Reastie - hope the appetite settles down soon. I guess it all feels very unsettling for all sorts of reasons. Hope you’re ok Flowers

I was away this weekend so no exercise on sat or sun. I just got into the habit of binning off workouts so was going to skip Monday’s too Shock but I realised you’d all be working out so I did cardio challenge. Annoyingly I got a really sudden back pain half way through. Stupidly I continued the workout (I know!) and now my back is really sore. I’ve had to take ibuprofen. I think again it is just tight muscles so I’ll stretch, but it’s annoying. I’m wondering whether I need to alternate max30 with something else as my back obviously doesn’t like it. Will do a workout later. I’m just not sure what

Theromanempire · 22/05/2018 12:05

Reastie agree that maybe logging on MFP might help - at least you will feel in control of your intake. If you set it for maintenance (rather than loss) then you might be able to satisfy the hunger if you have more calories to play with. Once you are fully recovered, you can then tackle any targets for loss (assuming you aren't pregnant by then Wink).

Yum well done with the running - love the thought of Michael Johnson talking in your ear. He has such a lovely voice that it would almost make the pain of running worthwhile Grin Guess I am the only non-runner on here now!

Purple hope the back pain eases - not sure there are many workouts that wouldn't involve your back in some way so just be careful Smile

I did 80DO AAA from phase 1 yesterday - I am just randomly mixing it up with 21df/T25/CDF workouts at the moment. No plan or schedule - just making it up as I go along Grin Joel's (from CDF) new programme looks amazing (each workout is a combination of weights and HIIT) so waiting for it to appear but I think it might be July Hmm

Still committed to Team RH as it is working so well but I am becoming very Hmm about some of the progress photos on the FB page. There are people who say they have lost (for example) 7lbs in 4 weeks but the photos seem to show a much bigger decrease than 7lbs (talking about 2 dress sizes smaller and a sudden appearance of a 6 pack from a really flabby tum!) Surely that is not possible?? Trying not to be cynical but...

OP posts:
YuleABUnREASTIEable · 23/05/2018 18:46

Thanks for the advice. Yesterday when I came home from work I went for a 30 minute walk because I thought any activity is better than no activity and it was all I could do. Can’t fault my trying! Tomorrow is run day, hurrah! Even if it is only gentle and short it’s something and I feel a bit stir crazy at being desperate to get back to workout mode.

Thermo often feel a bit Hmm at before and after photos. Was there different lighting/positions of the people too? That can make a big difference. Maybe they are sticking their tummy out and doing really bad posture in the before vs sucking tummy in and shoulder back for after? I take them in general with a pinch of salt though, I reckon there must be loads of false ones out there. Love the making up the workout plan as you go, it’s the most fun way :)

Purple how’s the back? Hope it’s getting better already.

Yumy was Charleen wearing good gear in the workout?!!!

I was doing a bit of googling earlier on glycemic index/GI. Has anyone done this in the past? I’m interested in it as I’m so careful with not eating anything with sugar in aside from fresh fruit yet I eat potatoes most days for my lunch and the GI of baked potatoes are higher than sucrose (table sugar) Shock Shock . I’m questioning whether I should rethink my pretty much daily potato for lunch and try to vary it more with brown rice/sweet potato etc. It’s funny as it’s higher than white rice yet I never eat white rice, only brown, as I think of white rice being too processed and quick release but all this time I’ve been eating potatoes which are worse!! Gah

Purpleraindeer · 23/05/2018 20:30

Definitely not possible roman. People don’t realise how incredibly difficult it is to get a 6pk so their goals are unrealistic and these images just play into it.

Minor miracle here. Back has been so awful the last 2 days - it is just tight muscles but I’ve not been able to sit down comfortably and been in pain constantly so was taking ibuprofen. It is what I’ve had before so I’ve been stretching but barely able really even to move. Decided to do p90x3 yoga tonight to see if that helped and I’m now so much better. It’s amazing and has really loosened it up. Smile yay. I guess I’ll be stiff again tomorrow when I wake up but am hopefully on the mend. Yoga really is amazing

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 23/05/2018 20:49

Purple you’re making me want to try it tomorrow -but I’m too scared- , glad it worked for you. I wonder if I can foam roll my lower back

yumyumpoppycat · 23/05/2018 22:59

TBH Reastie I didn't notice Chalean's outfit Shock - I think because I try and rattle through it a bit quicker and press forward as soon as I have done the reps!

Roman I suspect some of the before and afters like that are the ones of people who have been on holiday eaten loads of pizza etc but are basically fit and toned underneath a bit of temporary bloating.

Purple that is really great about the yoga, good choice, some exercise helping with soreness for a change! I have come to the conclusion max 30 is too hard for me as a program - I can cope with it alongside something gentle but not day in day out.

yumyumpoppycat · 23/05/2018 23:07

Reastie I have never properly followed GI as a diet - but I do remember that GI is a bit flawed and you are better off looking at the glycemic load of your meal as a whole. You would probably still need to count calories even when looking at GI/GL though. With potatoes you can really improve the impact on your insulin by cooling them and then reheating them which is something that you could do with a baked potato.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 24/05/2018 06:19

Yumy that’s fascinating, I never knew that, thank you.

Purpleraindeer · 26/05/2018 18:35

I’m getting totally frustrated. My back is still so stiff and sore. I did yoga 2 nights and nothing yesterday and it’s still awful. I can’t get my head anywhere near the floor in child’s pose or bend forward beyond my knees (previously could put hands on floor) if that gives you some idea. It’s so bad I’ve been contemplating going back to the mean grumpy physio

Anyway - am totally sick of it. Decided to go for a little gentle run. Did 25mins and felt pretty good so did another loop. Ended up 4.5 miles in the end. We’re on hols somewhere hilly so my phone showed I’d done the same height gain in 4.5 miles as DH did when he ran 11miles at home last weekend. I was glad to see that as my legs felt knackered and I couldn’t work out why.

Anyway - sorry for the me, me, me post but I’m fed up Sad

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 26/05/2018 18:59

Purple I share your frustration with bad backs, it really sucks doesn’t it. All I can say is you don’t want to overdo it now and get a bad back injury as that can take yonks to recover from (speaks the woman who had a slipped disc). I know it’s frustrating and I absolutely hate it (I’m on week 2 or 3 of only 3 gentle runs a week of up to 30 minutes) but hopefully it’ll be worth the sacrifice now in the long run. Can you try the magic yoga workout again? Is it lower or upper back? I can let you know the stretches my physio has given for lower back if you like. I have to do 1-2 a day (although I still have a bad back albeit very slowly getting better).

If it’s muscular acupuncture can be fantastic, sorted my back right out in about 3-4 sessions last year.

Theromanempire · 29/05/2018 10:37

Morning, hope you all had a good bank holiday weekend Smile

Hope everyone's injuries are slowly recovering (I guess we aren't a good example of how exercise is good for you are we? Blush

My weekend has been good but exercise opportunities have been limited plus my eating has been a bit off-track (only a little bit though and no alcohol involved Halo). Managed a 50 minute CDF workout on Friday, did ABC Extreme on Saturday and then Sunday was a planned rest day. I was expecting to do something yesterday but we ended up having an impromptu day out instead so lots of walking but I am properly craving a good weights workout! So tonight's plan is either Upper focus or maybe one of the arm workouts on Fitness Blender (just want to do some old-fashioned weight work!) followed by Clubbercise (more cardio!)

Have really struggled to track all my food over the weekend (hence the going off-track slightly) but my weight is at it's lowest so far so I am hoping I managed to keep within the calorie limits even if the macros were way off.

A colleague did comment last week that I looked like I had lost weight which was great but then my mum, who I haven't seen for weeks, didn't notice Sad

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 30/05/2018 09:18

Thanks for the sympathy reastie. It helped to have a self indulgent moan. I didn’t realise you had slipped a disc. That’s a lot more serious than my pathetic muscle pull. It is my lower back and physio gave me stretches which I’ve done 2 or 3x per day for the last week and it’s a LOT better. Phew. I’ve done a couple of runs and also tabata Power (slightly more gently than usual) so I’d say I’m on the mend Smile.

I thought of you all and your dog encounters yesterday when I was running and encountered my nemesis - a horse! I had to cross a field with horses in which I don’t like so carefully avoided them, walking slowly and looking at the ground and one followed me Shock. I really am scared of horses so I did not enjoy that. I got back and told DH and dd - both found it hilarious as they love horses.

Well done on your abstemious weekend roman. I’d like to say the same but we’re on hols and dd is being a bit of a madam so I have had Wine and Cake. Don’t be disheartened on your mum not commenting on your weight loss - lots of people don’t as they think saying you’ve lost weight implies you were too big before or would embarrass you. Once it’s been off for a while I bet people will. I had people coming up to me saying ‘you look amazing now - you were massive before’ Grin luckily I don’t offend easily!

Purpleraindeer · 31/05/2018 10:54

Me again!
Sweat intervals yesterday and then 21dfx power strength extreme today. Don’t think I should go back to max30 only schedule for a few more days to make sure my back is all sorted. Am quietly worrying that I now haven’t done a long run in 2.5 weeks and my half mara is 6 weeks away so will try to do a long run on Sunday afternoon as that is the only time I can squeeze it in. I guarantee when Sunday afternoon comes round I won’t feel like it!

Hope you’re all ok

Theromanempire · 31/05/2018 13:23

Purple glad your back is on the mend Smile There is no way you would catch me walking or running through a field with horses (or cows or sheep!) so very brave of you!

My mum is the type that would not hesitate to say something even if it may offend someone so if she thought I had lost weight, she would have said something (she certainly hasn't hesitated in the past saying about mine and DHs weight before now Wink)

So we did Upper Focus on Tuesday before Clubbercise and Pyramid yesterday - loved them both! Forgot how much I enjoy some T25 workouts although not having water breaks was a bit of a shock after 3 months of Autumn's workouts Grin I can definitely tell I am stronger than pre 80DO so it clearly improved my fitness and strength - although push ups may be because my arms are pushing about 7kg less then they were before I lost weight Wink

Not sure what the plan is for tonight - me and DH usually go on a 90 minute walk but he might be working late and I don't fancy it by myself. I have come across some 'walking' workouts on youtube so might try one of those out for a change.

OP posts:
YuleABUnREASTIEable · 31/05/2018 16:00

Purple I don’t blame you with the horses. Dh dd and I were once geocaching and had to go through a field with 3 horses in which all looked slightly unhinged and kept crazily braying and running at us. We left the field top quick as we were too scared to walk through it and never found that geocache! Hope you get out on yOur long run. I’m sure once youve started it’ll be better than you’re thinking it’ll be and even if you grit your teeth through it you’ll feel better afterwards.

Physio has done acupuncture on my back and masseuse did some glute work so I’m hopefully it’ll soothe back to normal. Physio has also okayed that I can try 4 workouts a week and do BA modified.

Have done my 3 gentle runs this week and am going away tomorrow for the week end and taking running gear in the hope of a couple of quick runs whilst away.

Thermo a YouTube walking workout? That sounds interesting, what does it involve other than walking on the spot?

Gah, got to go, I’ve asked dd to tidy the playroom and you’d think I’d asked her to do The most unreasonable thing in the world the amount of moaning coming my way.

Theromanempire · 02/06/2018 11:24

So just wanted to share my NSV. About 3 months ago, I bought a couple of dresses to wear over my swimming costume on holiday. In my usual annual delusion, I bought a size 14 thinking I would slim into them - they were ridiculously tight!

Anyway, tried them on this morning and they fit 😀😀😀 I am so pleased! Still got a long way to go to get to my target but this was a mini target and I still have 6 weeks to go before my holiday.

A size 12 seems achievable now instead and I honestly feel I have broken the cycle of futile dieting!

Hope you are all having a good weekend 😊
