I’m posting some non exercise on here Blush. Have a cough and feel lousy so no workouts for me this weekend. On the bright side my back was sore (in a good way) from Friday’s workout all day sat and sun so it must have done something! And went to physio and she gave me some stretches and reassured me that I wasn’t crippling myself by exercising. As I’ve now rested it for 7 days it is feeling a lot better.
I’m hoping for a miracle illness recovery by tonight so I can do chest and triceps.

Theromanempire · 25/03/2019 16:14

Hi everyone Smile

Purple great news from the physio, must be reassuring to know that you aren't doing any damage but boooo for your cough - hope you recover soon.

yum yes, Country Heat is never going to get your heart rate up is it? it's fun but not exactly challenging - never thought about throwing some burpees in but then I would never willingly opt to do burpees at any point Grin

plink no idea what BCAA's are Confused something for muscle-building/strength??

So last week did 3 of the Little More Obsessed workouts but wasn't particularly enamoured by them. Too much faffing with the band on and then off and then on etc, Autumn was shockingly bad at demonstrating the moves and in the AAA one, she absolutely motored through the second half of the workout as she had clearly dawdled too much in the first half but it was a ridiculous speed in between moves to the extent that you literally did not have time to put the band/take it off and the video had been cut so the cast went from standing up with the band on to lying on their back with it off in the blink of an eye!! Very frustrating as we spent more time having to pause it/rewind it Hmm Feel I wasted the week tbh and I really missed Joel's straight-forward workouts! Sad

Anyway, onwards and upwards - now having a 21DF fortnight. There are 11 21df workouts on the BOD including the 2 newer Remix ones so we are just going to do work through those. Started yesterday with Remix Cardio Core which I had not done before and I really enjoyed it - it was challenging but the moves were different and quite fun. Upper Fix tonight before Clubbercise Smile

Roman Branch chain amino acids (where are the nerd emojis?) I have never taken them but they are supposed to be good for preventing muscle wastage if you are dieting or exercising fasted so like if doing 16:8 and exercising in the morning. That's a shame about little obsessed you used to be such an autumn fan - fingers crossed Joel brings out something new soon. Are you still on VIP have you checked out shaun t's new step workout?

Purple well done for having a rest fingers crossed your on top form soon. Did you look into the vitamin D3 thing at all - it is supposed to be good for immunity but also joint pains. I am taking this spray which is 3 x as strong as regular tablets but still within safe day to day levelsamazon I have had my first not weeks/months late period since September (early slightly annoyingly!) my joint aches and pains are also gone (although I haven't done much exercise so that will be a test). I am not 100% full of beans but that physically tired feeling has gone. I did also take some super high 20,000 iu gel tablets of vit d3 at first but this lower dose spray seems good.

Plink the watch measures heart rate and steps. The heart rate thing seems to work, step counter seems good but the annoying thing is that it sometimes tells me to move when I am walking about and doesn't when I am sitting down Confused It has been good actually for getting us all to do some long family walks at the weekends. I got this one argos but from amazon spain for 80 euros. I haven't tested it enough for workouts yet but will let you know if it's any good.

PlinkPlink · 25/03/2019 17:55

That's a shame about A Little More Obsessed Roman . Apart from her and Bobby's Fixate, I can't get on with her 😂😂 too shrill to my ears 🤣 what about Tony Horton's stuff? You tried any of his programmes?

Take it easy Purple , my cough really affected my breathing so listen to your body. Rest if you need to. Better to rest up and heal completely, then you can get back to smashing it!

I take them for a bit of a pre-workout boost Yum . They're great 🤩 that's great the watch has got you all out! Gotta love a nice, long walk 😄 I think there will always be a little bit of inaccuracy with them but I guess it's more about finding the best one that suits you.

Workouts have been good this week. Legs were hard!!! And shoulders were pretty intense too - twisted mountain climbers after shoulder flys?! I was dying 😂 Week 6 this week and I can now officially say that this has been the longest I have ever committed to a workout programme! Hooray! 😂😂 I have been good with my diet - perhaps better than I ever have been. Even being ill for a couple of weeks has not derailed me and I'm super chuffed with that.
I'm also super excited for the next 3 weeks and what that will bring!

Reastie · 25/03/2019 18:02

Thank you for the kind comments. Am 27 weeks today. Double chin is becoming triple chin . But next week I’ll be in third trimester.

I have a garmin Watch. I’m not sure what sort it is but I really love it. Annoyingly it’s not much use atm as I’m not exercising enough to log it! I find the hr wrist monitor heaps more accurate than my Fitbit ever was. I have to log exercise though, it doesn’t come up automatically. Dd asked for a Fitbit for her birthday so we got her a cheap fitness watch from amazon and she really loves it, she’s akways checking her steps! I’m actually surprised how few she does. Pre preg I’d do roughly 6-10k steps a day, she averages more like 6k!

Branch chain amino acids I believe are just 3 types of essential amino acids that have a branched chain; leucine, valine and isoleucine. You can get these types of amino acids from normal foods (amino acids is a fancy science way of saying protein as proteins are made up of loads of them). I believe (from memory) they are all essential amino acids, which means you get these amino acids from all proteins giving high biological value eg meat, soya, dairy. I get so excited when my nutrition knowledge gets a bit of flex Grin . So, I don’t know what you’re taking but I reckon it’s soething you already get lots of in daily life but having it as a supplement is a way of the people selling it making money rather than needing to take it as a supplement.

yumyumpoppycat · 26/03/2019 18:24

Reastie that is so exciting that you are in the third trimester!

I did some core de force this morning - my watch is showing red for exercise which I think is good Confused really pleased to have got it done early and have managed 12000 steps alongside work in the office. However I did make dd2 late for school so I think I need to speed up the morning routine a bit! I told dd I was sorry for making her late and she said 'sorry is not good enough mummy!' Grin

Reastie · 26/03/2019 18:48

Not quite third trimester until next week, but at least it’s getting closer. Did 18 mins on bike today. Had to cut down from 30 minutes as it was making me too sick. In good news physical aches and pains are improved atm from last pg. May of course all change but for now I’m grateful for more mild pains than last time at this point. I like getting in the red zone but in my watch I don’t think you shoukd have sustained lengths in the red zone.

Purpleraindeer · 26/03/2019 19:08

3rd trimester reastie! Grin well done! Remember when you were only 6wks and it felt endless and look how far along you are now. Excellent geeky nutrition knowledge too! Star

That’s a shame re a little more obsessed, but the production values on all of the long workout programmes seem to be worse than the old school ones presume as they have to do so many more workouts for the same cost? 21df and 21dfx are excellent. Autumn is a bit perky and enthusiastic and slightly too focussed on telling us about entering bikini contests, but she is effective.

Poppy - glad you’re feeling better. Are you able to exercise at all (country heat doesn’t count Smile) or is that the next step?

Plink - week 6 - excellent. Did you up your weights like he says?

I’m afraid I ignored all your good advice and did chest/tris yesterday and legs today. Cough is better but very loud. I don’t feel poorly though so I thought working out was ok. I’m doing all the stretches the physio said and I think knee is feeling better Halo. But frankly it could be placebo effect. I guess the test will be at the weekend if I go for a long run. Legs feeling all wobbly after legs workout so they’ve been tested!

Have a good evening all

Purpleraindeer · 26/03/2019 19:09

Argh - sorry missed your post re corps de force poppy. That’s great! I like the sound of your dd. That’s exactly the sort of thing that my dd says to me. She is very strict for a 5yo!

PlinkPlink · 26/03/2019 20:30

Hey Reastie how exciting you're so close to the 3rd trimester!! My 3rd trimester was all about the naps! 😂 couldn't cope without a nap somewhere in the day and maternity leave made that possible 😂😂
Yeah, I did a bit of reading, though I'm certainly not as well versed as you. I use it more as a pre-workout booster to be honest... It's a lovely little kick I get. Maybe it's a placebo effect, I don't know but I know it works for me.

yum hahaa did you laugh? 'Sorry's not good enough' 😂😂 sassy lady 😂😂

purple yes I did for quite a few... but I found that towards the end of the workout I was more exhausted so ended up dropping the weights 😖 my strongest ones now use 8.75kg and that's as high as our dumbbells go so... time to invest in some more. OH needs alot more than me for chest, tris, back and bis so they'd definitely be used 😂😂

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2019 16:15

Plink I was too busy saying yes dd2, sorry dd2, wont happen again dd2 Wink I may have had a chuckle about it on my way to work though Grin what do you use the 8kgs for plink?

I did one of the 20s workouts this morning - yellow team . It was easy to start with then got hard and I have def lost a lot of strength. also I was totally unable to do bridge kick things which I could do before after a fashion - it was hurting my errr under carriage Blush Not exactly sure of the biology kind of in my pelvis? Something didn't feel right at any rate.

Fab news physio is working purple.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2019 16:50

This is good on bcaas www.bodybuilding.com/content/ask-the-science-chick-should-i-drink-bcaas-during-workout.html ^If you eat plenty of protein, then your BCAA intake is probably already where you need it. But, if you struggle to hit a high enough protein intake, or you often lack the energy to get through (or recover from) your workouts, a BCAA drink might help.
Sipping on BCAA supplements during your workout may help reduce fatigue and improve both mental and physical performance, especially if you train in a fasted state^ (sounds like it might be good for people who are eating low cal and exercising at the same time rather than just exercising and eating normally)

Reastie · 27/03/2019 17:30

Interesting link yumy. Fwiw a glass of milk would provide them too, might be worth a try to see if it works any less? I’m guessing it would be a lot cheaper Grin .

Today has been a bad day. I didn’t even manage yoga. But it’s newrly over and hopefully to,orrow will be better.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2019 19:27

fingers crossed for a good day tomorrow Reastie x

yumyumpoppycat · 30/03/2019 15:41

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

I did chalean weights yesterday and long walk today so overall best week in ages.

Purpleraindeer · 30/03/2019 16:42

Urgh not that great a weekend here Sad I’m ill again. I’m feeling rotten. That’s the second weekend in a row. Boo. I think I’m a bit run down as it’s not like me. No workouts for me

yumyumpoppycat · 30/03/2019 17:21

Urgh Purple that's really horrible to be unwell both weekends [blue] Hopefully a rest will help you to shake it off Flowers

yumyumpoppycat · 03/04/2019 10:46

It's very quiet hope everyone is ok Flowers

I was going to do my 3rd chalean weights this morning then it occurred to me that it was a bit mad to be doing workouts I have on dvd when paying for BBOD. So I had a look in the weights section and found a Joel workout - 17 minutes and a mixture of weights and body weight exercises. It was perfect Grin short and hard but not too hard! So my plan is to start doing Shaun's new step workout as only 20 mins-ish and I can hopefully do it in the mornings before school run/work - then ideally add in 3 short weights workouts on some evenings or after the cardio if time.

Purpleraindeer · 03/04/2019 19:59

Hello! I couldn’t legitimately post given that I’ve done no exercise since last Tuesday Shock. I’m being very disciplined and waiting until I’m fully recovered before I start back again. It is odd. I have a lot of time in the evening now. I’m worried I could get used to it! I am so knackered though - I have a cough which keeps me up all night. I feel as sleep deprived as when I had non sleeping babies and I’m now wondering how I coped with that for so long... anyway, am off on hols at the weekend so probably won’t get back into the exercise until I’m home now. That will be nearly 3 weeks. I’ll be a beginner again!!

Did you do Joel 8x8 workout poppy? That’s a good one - 23 short minutes. Also there is another one which is a bit longer but also good. Do you have a step to do Shaun’s new workout? I don’t have one and don’t dare get one - we do not need more exercise kit in our house!!

yumyumpoppycat · 03/04/2019 21:00

Purple it sounds like a really nasty bug. If you had been trying to exercise while run down it will feel so much better exercising when properly rested after a hol that hopefully it wont be such a shock to the system. The workout I did today wasn't the 8x8 one, it was in the joel's exclusives section on BBOD.

I think there is a modifier for Shaun's step one so you wont need to buy a step to try it but it might not be so much fun without one.

Talking of BBOD there are some really random workouts - autumn has one where there are loads of new mums with babies strapped to their chests (in slings/carriers) doing squats Grin she tells them to prance rather than jog so they don't jiggle the baby too much Grin also sagi has one where he goes through a getting 'pumped' workout with someone and it is amazing he difference in the mans arms at the beginning of the workout compared to the end.

yumyumpoppycat · 05/04/2019 10:26

soooo I did the sample workout for transform 20 sample workout - shaun T describes it as insanity on a step - and that is accurate, it wasn't the gentle workout I was hoping for expecting! My garmin watch counted it as a workout automatically which is a good sign, although it did think I was on an elliptical trainer when I was doing the school run earlier this week Grin I obviously have a very weird gait Hmm

Reastie, I feel slightly mean posting about a step workout - maybe if you have BBOD/ secret site when you are back to standard workouts we could do this one at the same time!

Obviously there is some self interest here as I want a workout buddy Wink but I actually quite recommend getting a step, it does make for a fun workout. Mine is quite high but some of the cast were using slim ones which would easily go under a sofa or bed. I used to keep mine between the wall and the sofa and it couldn't be seen, but now I keep it upstairs behind the door in dd2's room next to a tall drawer thing from ikea so it cant be seen when the door is opened against the unit - never really close the door so it's fine.

The main problem with this workout for me is that you need a fair bit of space - but tbh it was only a problem occasionally and space has been an issue with other workouts too. I am also a bit worried it might be too noisy for my neighbours if I do it 6 days a week.... BUT I love Shaun T's cheesy motivational speeches so I might have to see how it goes and try and follow the programme for a bit - at least it is only 20 minutes.

Hope everyone is ok x

Purpleraindeer · 06/04/2019 08:55

Sounds promising poppy. I was wondering whether I could do it using the little step we had for the kids to reach the sink in the bathroom as I don’t want to buy anything. I feel it might result in a broken ankle though!
I’m signing off for a week as we’re off on hols with no chance of exercise. I’m hoping I’ll be all recovered by the time I’m back. Have a good week all Smile

Boobz · 07/04/2019 09:04

Hi everyone! Long time :)

I'm going to have to go back and catch up with people's news..

Haven't been exercising for a good 6 months due to work, mum dying, renovating house, but need to get back on it.

How are you all? Who is still around?!

yumyumpoppycat · 07/04/2019 15:30

Oh my goodness Hello Boobz! {Welcome back hugs}

I am so so sorry to hear about your mum Flowers Sad

I think there are three of us who have been on here since the first thread started, but some of us might have new names.

Reastie · 07/04/2019 16:31

Boobz! Welcome back! I think last thing we heard from you you’d moved and got a busy full time job? I’m still here but not working out really. I’m now 28 weeks pg and having a nightmare time with nausea which has made me pretty much housebound since October. I try doing gentle exercise but it aggregates my symptoms and I feel terrible. It’s also led to giant weight gain. I’m having a csection which won’t help matters but I can’t wait to get physical again. I literally feel like I’m practically on bed rest the amount of resting I have to do. So sorry to hear about your mum.

Yumy I found that autumn and baby workout onnthe secret site and found it so funny. These women were all jiggling their babies around it was looking like they were just asking for them to posset milk everywhere with all the jiggling! I love the sound of the new step workout. I do love my step! Insanity is so a million miles away from what I can achieve for such a long time now though. I’ll have to build up to it! But would love to try it at some point.

Purple that sucks being ill again. It might be better in the long run to just have a workout break tonget back on full strength. Or can you do something gentle to keep the routine of doing workouts still like body balance?

Haven’t been on as have been ill with cold which has made everything else horrible. Haven’t managed even yoga for a week but hoping to do little bits this week. This morning I managed to walk over 1000 steps this morning innthe garden. Might seem tiny but it’s progress on last week. On the plus side (and I know this will change soon) physically I’ve found this pg so much easier than last time with aches and pains etc (and I think my old fitness level has really helped this), it’s just the sickness.
