Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

Purple peanut butter in porridge? I can imagine that would make it nice and creamy but I can’t stomach the thought of it right now! Can you find another physio? Mine was so encouraging and helpful with integrating exercise into my life when I was so limited. I know on the thread before it’s been mentioned lots of physios are down on a lot of exercise because they see the injuries. Mine was actually quite helpful in explaining why some of the exercises in my dvds were actually not always good and showed me alternatives that would be better and is quite a sports based physio, working at various sports championships and for sports teams etc so I think is a lot of encouraging about doing exercise just making adaptations where needed. Is there such a thing as a ‘sports physio’? Maybe try one of those rather than a regular finger wagging one.

Did 30 minutes on bike this morning. Very gentle pace but so hard! Weight gain seems to have stepped up and up to 177lbs already. Not sure if 190lbs full term is a bit of a wish rather than realistic. It might change to 200lbs nearer the time Grin . Just having a sit down recovering from bike ride. Got really painful stretching ligament pain on my lower stomach this morning when cycling which hasn’t happened before. Hope this doesn’t mean it’s going to be too painful and I’ll have to give up Confused . I’m already finding my bum really hurts by the end because of all of the increased weight it’s bearing on the bike.

Theromanempire · 11/03/2019 10:22

Morning all Smile

So many messages! I have read them but not sure I can reply to them all!

Purple peanut butter in porridge - am very tempted to try it Grin My secret (or maybe not so secret) ingredient is Nutella which is my go-to added extra for porridge. Also, we have Crunchie chocolate spread in the house at the moment and that is awesome in porridge aswell!

Reastie well done on the exercise but make sure you take it easy and listen to your body - the lower stomach pain does sound like your body is telling you something. And I agree with Purple that your total body weight now is in no way an indication of your post-birth weight so don't worry about it.

I have been busy ploughing on with the Hybrid Liift4 and CDF schedule that Joel posted - we did CDF for the first time in forever last week and both me and DH woke up with aching backs and arms which just shows mixing up exercises is good to use different muscles. Also did L4 week 3 Legs yesterday and weirdly, have major DOMS in my butt, quads and hips which is strange as clearly L4 workouts are not new to me and I didn't increase my weights or anything Confused

My weight has dropped again down to 182lbs (which is what it was before it randomly shot up by 5lbs) but I can tell from my clothes that I am definitely thinner than I was so I can't decide if I should deduct 5lbs off the scale readings due to my view that the scales are playing up or whether to just accept what it says and base my weight loss/target on that Hmm Although I think I will know when I am done as I have a target skirt that when I can get in that and it looks ok, I think that will be enough (bit wary of going too far as I am aware that it will make me look older - I look young for my age and quite like that Grin - so need to balance it out.

Ha thanks Reastie we're over the worst of it now, thank goodness!

We went to the beach yesterday so that was lovely getting some sea air. DS didn't want to walk on the sand 🙄😂😂 but he liked playing with it in his hands 😂

Agree with Purple there about pregnancy weight not being the same as non-pregnancy weight. Loads of it will go straight away. It will take however long it needs to for your body to go back to normal Reastie . I remember the frustration very, very well but try not to fret. Your body needs time to recover and scientists have found (according to Sarah Ockwell-Smith) that your body is still recovering 18 months post partum. So you must take it easy on yourself. Slow and steady wins the race and all that 😄 you enjoying the flutters and kicks yet? 🤩🤩 god I miss that. I also miss having any excuse to put my feet up 😂😂 different 2nd time round though.

Peanut butter and porridge?! 🤮🤮 bleurgh noooo 😂 that sounds so wrong Purple 😂 Nutella sounds good though. A moany physio? 🤣 Why? What does she say? It's down to you surely how you exercise? Some of them can be incredibly bossy 😂

Roman ahhh that good pain when you know you've worked your body differently 🤩 love that feeling 😄why don't you try the Boots scales? Like once a month go and visit it, accurate readings then? My scales are unreliable too. I have to step on them twice, sometimes three times before they give me actual weight. I think it's because our floor is uneven. I try and put it back in the same place but they still seem very temperamental.

I'm hopefully starting week 4 again tonight! Yaaaaas! Can't wait to get back into it!!!!

Reastie · 11/03/2019 11:44

Thermo agree with plinks idea of boots scales. My local leisure centre had the same one as boots where it measures your height too and does your bmi. I remember going there and being Shock when my bmi was something like 38.

Plink yes feeling flutters although sporadically still so I keep panicking I haven’t felt anything for ages. Have to make sure I don’t have a full bladder or I keep thinking I’ll involuntarily set myself when I get the sharp bladder kicks Wink .

Thank you for your kind comments. Last pg I did gain a lot of weight even after the water weight etc went. I then continually added weight until dd was 1 and bfing went down to once in the evening. I’m actually wondering this time (assuming I’m able to bf again) I cut down to 1 morning and 1 evening feed at 6 months and do formula for any other feeding times (I can’t remember how many times a day they still have milk at 6 months!) as I found it so physically draining bfing and it made me so ravenous I couldn’t control my eating. At least then I might have 6 months before going back to work where I might stand a chance of starting to lose weight. But I don’t know if that’s really selfish given I should put the baby first etc. I’m shocked at the 18 months to recover. I always remember a colleague telling me there was a workout obsessed woman at the gym she worked at who was back in the gym running on the treadmill THE DAY AFTER GIVING BIRTH Shock . Apparently they made her sign a waiver saying she would do it at her own risk as they were so worried it was so soon.

yumyumpoppycat · 11/03/2019 16:09

I would definitely agree about pregnancy weight Reastie - it sounds like a win really so far balancing it up with your previous pregnancy gain. I really wouldn't worry about cutting back on breastfeeding earlier this time, you have had to give up much more freedom than many pregnant woman given your level of sickness, and also in the time you were trying to conceive having a pretty good idea of what was ahead.

Purple I hope your knee pain clears up Sad PB porridge sounds yum, I can literally eat peanut butter from a spoon.

Not much exercise done here, but I am thinking about trying chalean extreme again as it really isn't that extreme Grin maybe just the 3 weights workouts.

Roman you have done so well - fingers crossed for target skirt Grin something nice about that as your guide rather than a random target weight.

yumyumpoppycat · 11/03/2019 16:12

Plink - I missed you off - day at the beach sounds lovely Smile I think toddlers are so much fun, no offence to my kids ;)

Reastie · 11/03/2019 16:47

I thinknchildren a different age to the ones you have are fun as you see them and think it looks great but forget all the hard bits that come with it! Dd is getting quite snappy and a bit teenagery already at 8 Shock . Of course I blame myself and the fact I’m being a practically useless parent atm.

Not sure I coukd eat PB from the spoon but definitely could eat nutella from the spoon. When I ate sugar.

Yumy you’re kind about pg weight gain but I really do gain ALOT more than most people. Most people post pg aren’t 2 dress sizes bigger after their water weight and bump have gone down. Most pg people would gain by full term what I already have. I’m not denying it this time though, last time I did. I like how you look on the reducing bfing earlier though, you’re so right, I’ve goven up a lot more life than most people have in pg.

Bit of a rubbish nausea day today after overdoing it with cycling etc so thinking I might do yoga tomorrow, which despite how gentle it is I actually find quite tough Shock .

Theromanempire · 12/03/2019 09:08

plink glad all is better in the Plink household. I have 2 sand-phobic children which is a nightmare as I am a total beach lover. Holidays often consist of me negotiating to get just one day sunbathing on the beach Hmm

reastie Shock at the woman who was back at the gym the day after giving birth - that is NOT NORMAL!! What about the blood loss??? I shudder just thinking about it! I think that woman may have had serious 'issues'!

Thanks for the suggestions about weighing myself elsewhere but as I weigh myself naked, first thing in the morning (after a wee obviously Blush), it wouldn't work to weigh myself somewhere else at a different time of the day with clothes on Grin

So totally blitzed the workouts yesterday - 2 x 20 minute walks for the school run, T25 Stretch, L4 Chest/Triceps circuit and then Clubbercise, all on top of serious leg DOMS from Sunday Grin Tonight is Back/Biceps 50/50 and then a well-earned rest day tomorrow Wink

Purpleraindeer · 13/03/2019 20:58

Wow roman that is some hardcore exercising! I feel a bit lazy now......

Couldn’t face max30 yesterday as I felt really tired. So did full body HIIT from lift4 which I don’t think was any easier really! Felt a lot better today which was good as it was max out sweat which is the hardest by far. I feel a bit wobbly now - I’ll sleep well tonight!

I can’t believe that story about the lady post birth. I started t25 when ds was 8wks and I thought that was hardcore. She must have had some issues I’d say.

Hope you’re all ok - sorry to not namecheck everyone Smile

Purpleraindeer · 13/03/2019 21:00

We have the beach negotiation too - me and the kids love it. Dh really doesn’t for a mysterious reason he has never been able to explain.

PlinkPlink · 13/03/2019 21:11

Yay for flutters Reastie that was my favourite bit about pregnancy. At night, I used to cuddle into OH to go to sleep and he could feel DS moving and kicking around in there. It was lovely 😍😍 miss those days a bit 😔 nowadays I'm sleeping in DS's room - partly because he feeds at night still and partly because OH snores like a walrus 😂
😱😱😱 the day after giving birth?!! The heck? That's madness! I think the soonest we left the house was about 4 or 5 days after? God the thought of working out when even sitting down was a delicate task 😂😂
See how you feel with the feeding... you never know until baby arrives I think.

Yum toddlers are awesome. I am enjoying this stage much more than previous stages. They all come with their ups and downs I guess but I feel like I'm really enjoying it now. Seeing him do so many funny things during the day, seeing him grow and think things through in his way... fascinating! How old are yours?

Roman god I hope DS isn't sand-phobic 😂 OH and I bloody love the beach! When we first started dating alot ofour dates consisted of going to the beach and snoozing in the sun. We both feel so peaceful and content on the beach 😊
😳 naked Roman 😂😂 I've never thought of weighing myself nude. Best you don't do that in Boots 🤣🤣 very Lady Godiva 🤣🤣 well done on your workouts!! Amazing day!

I did week 4 day 1 again last night. I really wasn't in the mood as PMS was in full swing but I knew if I didn't do it, I'd feel worse the longer I put it off. Felt so good to get it done.
So Back and Bis tonight. Can't wait!

PlinkPlink · 15/03/2019 11:56

Purple is your DH a cold one? The family I used to work for all were cold holiday people.. like skiing holidays. Never a beach one. I couldn't fathom it 😂😂😂

Purpleraindeer · 15/03/2019 18:43

Hope back and biceps was good plink! Good on you for enjoying the toddler stage. They are cute but I prefer the age mine are now (4 and 5) as they are like super interesting little people. Also they can occupy themselves and are not a constant source of danger to themselves! Maybe I just had 2 tricky toddlers though

Feeling very tired today. Sneaked in a Joel bonus workout (8x8 on beach body on demand) yesterday but then was knackered so couldn’t do my long run today. Was only 5 miles in the end but I was struggling so had to cut it short. Not sure what to do now as my routine is all messed up. Maybe rest tomorrow then try long run again on Sunday. I really enjoy them (and I need to catch up on my podcasts!) so I don’t want to miss out this week.

My dh grew up near a beach but a rubbish freezing cold northern one so I think he has bad memories.

Hope you’re all well Smile

Reastie · 15/03/2019 19:17

Purple I hope you manage your long run in Sunday. It’s weird how some days you can work out really hard and others your body just can’t do it.

Plink hope the pms is improving.

Thermo if it helps I always weigh myself naked after first wee too! Do you weigh on a hard floor or carpet? That can make a difference as hard fooor is more accurate.

I’m glad I’m keeping up with you all as I’m hoping it’ll make it easier to get back into doing exercise post csection. I know it’ll be a long road but I can’t wait to work out again and I’m so scared I’ll lose the habit and be too tired to manage anything. Atm my initial plan is walks with the buggy hopefully a few times a week from September which will be 3 months post section. If I manage stuff before then then great, but I’m not sure how it’ll work with dd being on summer holiday etc etc.

Did a pg gentle workoutout today, only 20 minutes. 30 mins on bike has been making me feel reallly sick and is too much.

My inner thighs are really chaffing where they rub together from putting on weight Blush .

I’m getting in a state again at weight gain so just for my own sake I’m going to write here everything I ate today so you can tell me how bad (or good) it is. I want honest feedback as I feel I’m eating so much.

Breakfast is a bowl (not huge but not tiny) of .homemade muesli and rice puffs. Mid morning I had a bowl of veg soup with a bit of cheese and a piece of millet bread (like a gluten free version of rye bread, very whole grain and dense). Lunch I had butternut squash and chestnut lasagne and brown rice. Afternoon I had half a bounce nut energy bar and a bowl of porridge then an apple. For dinner I had a huge bakes potato with some cheese and a quorn steak grill thing and lots of salad with a sprinkle of seeds. Later tonight I’ll have another bowl of muesli before bed. That’s an average day. It’s quantity isn’t it. I’m trying to eat healthy but I’m just eating too much. I’m just glad I’m not living on chips any more! Mw said if I wanted her to she could refer me to nhs weight loss person but I’m not sure I want to. I’m trying really hard but have to eat at certain times because of the nausea. I don’t think I’m being hugely unhealthy in my actual choices (??). Plus, my experience of nhs weight loss people is very negative. I got bullied by one when I had pnd.

Purpleraindeer · 16/03/2019 18:23

Reastie - Flowers you sound like you’re really beating yourself up about something which is a bit out of your control. That diet is very healthy, but you’re eating more than you used to as you’re feeling nauseous and that is ok and perfectly normal. Some people (me!) just ate crap for most of their pregnancies and you’re not doing that so give yourself some credit. I told you about my healthy cousin who put on 50lbs - she switched from being the healthiest eater ever to someone who ate sweets non stop. She had the baby and it was an effort, but she is back to her healthy eating and normal weight again.
I would avoid the dietician - I have a sense she’d make you feel worse about things not better.
I’d also congratulate yourself on the workouts - that is way beyond what many people do. I did one Blush throughout the whole of my 2 pregnancies. And I had to stop that half way, as I was too heavy to do the squats!
I find this an irritating phrase, but I do think you should try to be kind to yourself FlowersBrew

PlinkPlink · 16/03/2019 20:27

Reastie I agree very much with Purple here.

Your diet sounds bloody fabulous. I ate so so much worse than you.

Here's what my diet consisted of (and I will not be exaggerating here):

1st trimester - consisted of jacket potatoes (usually 2 large ones) with cheese and beans, Flake yoghurt (usually 3 at a time). Takeaway chips and cheesey beans. Cheese on toast. Fried egg sandwiches.

2nd trimester - two large jacket potatoes smothered with a whole tub of coronation chicken. Salad smothered in salad cream. At work I would consume a whole box of cookies in a day. Or a whole pack of bakewell slices. Or more jacket potato with cheese and beans (can you see a theme here?)

That was an average day of food for me (I am shaking my head at myself).

It wasn't until I got my GD diagnosis that I stopped eating so much shit. Then I behaved.

So, Reastie, your diet - it is, in all seriousness, fantastic and I am in complete awe because i dont think I could eat what you are eating with feeling nauseous every day. You don't need a referral, you don't need to taper it down. You don't need to change a thing. You are doing wonderfully and you should feel so proud that you are feeding your baby the most amazing nutrients. I was convinced DS was going to come out part cheese, part Flake yoghurt 😂

Reastie · 17/03/2019 07:42

Thanks. It’s so unfair how much I’m gaining compared to how hard I’m trying! Last night was really bad and I ended out having to eat through the nausea a huge amount of oatcakes to survive. It’s grim! But I did 25 minutes on the bike yesterday morning, that’s something. Going to have a little potter in the garden for 20 minutes this morning for my ‘execise’ Wink .

Purple hope you get your run today. Btw when you say your Cousin put on 50 lbs, is that heaviest weight when pg or post pg? I’m assuming pg? I’m now about 37 lbs up and 26 weeks tomorrow!

Thank you plink Thanks .

yumyumpoppycat · 17/03/2019 23:55

Reastie a lot of it is probably necessary water weight to protect the baby, hormones etc. Totally agree with Purple and Plink - I would eat whole packets of crumpets and hot cross buns with ds - veg were not even on my radar, exercise the same! Well done on 25 mins cycling Star

Plink my dc are 13, 11 and 8. Yes it is a really magical stage - mine were very easy going which probably helped! I was mostly not working at that stage and I just look back on that as such a lovely time being at home with them. Now they are all still lovely but the older two don't want family days out anymore so complain etc and there can be lots of arguing and silliness, screen time negotiations etc. sigh.

Purple hope your run went well and everyone has had a good weekend.

Theromanempire · 18/03/2019 06:11

reastie agree with the others that your diet looks amazing so don't worry at all. I'm always surprised that DS1 didn't emerge looking like a jelly baby as I ate that many whilst I was pregnant with him and DS2 was all about cheese, carbs and Ben and Jerrys ice cream Blush I like to say it was cravings but I suspect it was just me using the opportunity to eat whatever I wanted!

And yy to loving the toddler years - like yum, I look back very fondly to that time and how yummy my 2 were! Mine are 12 and 10 now and it's totally different and not as much fun Grin

Finished the week of random Liift workouts and am going to do A Little More Obsessed this week. I want to do one more full Liift programme leading up to my holidays but that still gives me about 6 weeks to fill Confused no idea what to do!!

OP posts:
PlinkPlink · 21/03/2019 19:14

Oh those ages sound hard Yum - teenage years a-calling 🙈 I'm not working until he goes to school so I consider myself very lucky. I'm very lucky to get to see him grow and spend time with him everyday. I just don't want him to ever grow up 😔 I love his cuddles and kisses 😂😂 not gonna get that when he's 15 haha!

Purple that's a shame about your DH's bad beach memories. Come down my way, the beaches are bleddy lush! 😂😂

Haha jelly baby mini- Roman 🤣🤣 hmm 6 weeks to fill ... isn't Transform:20 6 weeks long? Wink haha

Well I'm on week5 now. Rest day today but did back and bis last night. Felt sooooo good! It was a circuit one but I'm starting to dread those more than the ones with HIIT and I think it's because I know my muscles are going to be so fatigued by the time I get to the third set 🙈🙈 loved the new core exercises in it - bicycle crunches with legs doing a flutter kick and the rocking plank. Felt those!! 🤣
How's everyone been doing this week?

Purpleraindeer · 21/03/2019 20:25

Hi all!
Not a great week for me. Knee was super sore after my long run on Sunday (shame as i felt great whilst I was actually running). I was limping on Monday so thought enough was enough so am gojng to physio on sat am. I’ve then had 3x rest days. 1 planned and the other 2 as I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather. Back on it today (phew). I’ve started liift again as I don’t think all the jumping in max30 is helping my knee. Did shoulders tonight. Was nice to be back into it but I seem to have lost strength even though it has only been 3wks since I last did a liift workout! Shock

Hope you’re all ok

PlinkPlink · 21/03/2019 21:25

Hey Purple

Sorry to hear about your knee. I like that Liift gives you options to take the impact out. I never do those plyo lunges, I always do the modified version. My knees just can't take it.
It's good you've booked the physio though, see what's going on 😊😊 then you can hopefully get right back into your runs.

I found, after I was ill, that I needed to drop my weights too but it didn't take me long to get right back up again. I suspect it'll be the same for you too?

I know some people drink their BCAAs on days even when they're not working out just to help keep the muscle as muscle can waste away pretty fast. Maybe try that for when you have a gap next time? Women's Best have some pretty lush flavours, I'm just finishing off my peach iced tea one and I've got a lemon iced tea tub waiting for me 🎉🎉

yumyumpoppycat · 22/03/2019 07:33

Purple really sorry to hear about your knee - hope the appt with physio helps.

Plink those BACCAs sound delish!

I bought a garmin forerunner this week - it seems like the heart rate monitor works as if I am walking and pick up the pace to feel out of breath the monitor does increase. I did country heat this week though and although I added in some burpees to try and get in the exercise zone it didn't register it as exercise … not sure if that says something about country heat, my effort or the watch!

PlinkPlink · 22/03/2019 11:58

Oh they are yum
They also sent me some free protein bites which were disgusting (no wonder they were free)... they sent me 3 packs of them too so they're like my last resort emergency stash. If I get a craving for something sweet I'll pick them I guess 😂

Ooh a new watch 🤩 lovely! Is it a track everything one or just exercise one? Haha I think it says more about country heat 😂😂 does it come with a heart monitor band?

Purpleraindeer · 22/03/2019 18:56

Grin for country heat! I presume it just wasn’t getting your heart rate high enough? You’ve obviously kept a bit of fitness even though you’ve been off for a while which is great! Fun to have a new gadget too. I had a forerunner (an old model) when I was running a lot. I loved it and spent a lot of time looking (obsessing) over my heart rate/pace etc. Now I just seem to obsess over lululemon leggings. There are some in the sale and I was just trying to convince myself that even though I’ve got 3 pairs that I need a 4th....
also did wk 1 back and biceps. Ow. I can’t believe I thought 3 weeks ago that 4kg was too light for bicep curls. What an optimist!!
