Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

Yeah it's weird! My 4.5s feel quite light now. I also realise that my weights went up to 7.5kg not 6.5. Muppet here can't add up 😂
Because it's such a big group it's does get a bit irritating but I delete the app of my phone alot. I only download it to flick through briefly and stop by my accountability group. Other than that I hate Facebook 🙈😂 nah I'm South West. Very little to do with up North 😄😄 I'm in another group called YG20 😄😄 they're lovely... like a smaller version. Ooh I agree with Reastie could be hormonal. I find water retention awful as well. If I don't get 2L in well... my body protests!

Reastie oh you poor thing. It's awful isn't it 🙈🙈 you're doing so bloody well though. All that work you are doing is going to benefit you after too, you'll snap back quicker and you won't have to start from nothing. Seriously, you are doing an amazing job! Definitely try to focus on those positives. Not long to go aswell!! How exciting!! You meet your new baby soon!! Eek! Have you been feeling kicks and flutters yet? I miss that bit. Has the nausea eased at all?

Purple still suffering? Eek. Well you're doing the right thing by listening to your body and taking an extra day. Are you on Week 8 now?

Yeah the toe still doesn't feel completely right 😂 but loads better. Completed week 3 day 2 last night 💪💪 my triceps were still hurting so bad though that I didn't really feel like I was able to do my best. They still ache today 😂😂 nutrition ok but a few biscuits have been sneaking their way into my belly so gotta be mindful of that. Water intake pants atm too. Sort yourself out Plink 😂😂

Purpleraindeer · 20/02/2019 19:04

Sorry all - I cross posted yesterday so missed all your updates.

Reastie - it’s no wonder you’re fed up. It really doesn’t seem fair that pregnancy hits you so hard. You are right to try to focus on the positives but it’s also ok to be fed up. You are having to put up with feeling awful all the time. Is there a thread on hg on mumsnet - it might be worth having a look for a bit of solidarity.

Roman - weight is a bit of a mystery isn’t it? The same thing happened to me last week. I was 2kg heavier in 2 days and nothing had changed. I’ve dealt with it by going away for a few days and having wine and carbs. I darent look at the scales now!

I did total body HIIT today despite being on day 3 of the DOMS. I don’t thjnk I worked hard enough and it was still hard. I cannot believe how sore I still am from legs 3 days ago!

Theromanempire · 22/02/2019 05:41

reastie your pregnancy has been tough hasn't it? But well done on doing some exercise - most people in your situation would do absolutely nothing! I know it must be hard reading this thread at times Sad

I did week 8 Legs on Wed and week 8 arms yesterday- upped my weights to 7.5kg for a lot of the leg exercises so I am suffering now Grin I really need some 6kg weights as for some exercises, the jump between 5kg and 7.5kg is too much.

The weight mystery deepens - the scales are still refusing to budge. However, my clothes are certainly not tighter than they were so I thought I'd try on a couple of skirts that I was nearly in - both zipped up ok which they didn't do before my weight went up Confused so I'm certainly not getting bigger!! Thought it might be a dodgy battery in the scales so changed it but that hasn't made a difference.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 22/02/2019 18:15

Well done on the weight increase roman. Sounds good on the skirts too. Maybe you’ve just put on a few lbs of muscle overnight Grin?! given one of your objectives was to drop dress sizes I’d chalk this up to a win. Star

Did week 8 chest back yesterday and run today. I’ve got a weird pain in my foot - it’s the arch. I’m hoping arms is a circuit one so no jumping tomorrow which will help rest it. Probably shouldn’t have done run today but weather was nice so would have been a shame not to. Braved the scales again this am. I’m now only 2lb up on where I was. I’m hoping I’ve just made some overnight muscle like you roman!

Have a good evening all

Purpleraindeer · 22/02/2019 18:17

Oh yes - I have the same problem with weights. I have 4kg and 8kg. I was explaining to dh that I needed 6kg and 10kg and he looked appalled at the thought of even more weights cluttering our living room. Also they’re expensive!

Purpleraindeer · 24/02/2019 19:38

Week 8 legs today. Argh! I’m hoping it won’t take me 3 days to be able to walk normally like it did last week. Shock I can’t tell you how disappointed I was when I realised I had 1 more block to go after the first 2 blocks. I thought it was only 2 blocks like the arms and chest ones so I was feeling all pleased we hadn’t done lunges. Then he said it was lunges. Sad
Last liift workout on Tuesday. The 8wks has gone fast. Can’t decide what’s next - maybe a sneaky few weeks of max30. Or 21dfx. Can’t decide. Rest day tomorrow thank goodness. I’ve done 5 days in a row so I’m a bit tired now

Theromanempire · 25/02/2019 12:49

I am fairly sure I haven't put on 4lbs of muscle overnight so it remains a mystery but am trying not to think about it. Just ploughing on with the Team RH diet and Liift workouts and see where I get to for my holidays.

Purple how are the Doms today? Now that you are near the end of the Liift programme, what is your opinion of it? Yay, nay or meh?

I am starting the 4-week boost that Joel posted last week - it has some CDF thrown in aswell which is great as I love that. My only issue is that the Week 7 full body hiit seems to feature every week and that is literally the worst and hardest workout of the whole 8 weeks so I do not want to do it every week Confused

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 26/02/2019 11:16

Hi all sorry been absent so long initially stopped posting as no internet at home, but I haven't been feeling like I can exercise for a while. My periods started to slow down last sep (remember when I thought I was pg!) and hadn't had one at all in 3 months so went to GP who arranged blood tests - turns out I am deficient in vitamin D. Bit embarrassingly common as an ailment but looks like it could explain a lot of my symptoms. I thought I was lacking in energy because I had gained weight but actually its probably down to this, even weight gain and trouble sleeping are connected with vit d deficiency. Even more crazily from just now reading this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/1592487-Any-experiences-of-vitamin-D-deficiency?pg=1 might be part of why I struggle with lunges Shock although my periods had already started going wonky veganuary probably didn't help!! Any way I am hoping that this may mean I wasn't just being lazy so fingers crossed I get my energy back and get into exercise again soon.

Purple I have recommended these before - they aren't perfect but can't be beat in terms of taking up space www.amazon.co.uk/Power-Block-Sport-Adjustable-Dumbbell/dp/B000A6T9I8/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_200_t_0?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforum-21&refRID=DM2NPB19J0A0XTSCZF0P £130 so it will be more expensive than buying 2 new sets but they are very neat and will take up less space and you could give 1 or 2 of your existing weights away. I wouldn't get rid of all your old weights though as it is handy to have 3 individual weights for LIIFTas takes time to change them.

I haven't caught up properly just scanned through but well done plink sounds like you have been doing amazing! Well done too on shape changing roman - definitely don't led scales side track you.

Reastie I am so impressed that you are managing to eat lots of fruit and veg - I would def bet that explains thrush keeping away.

PlinkPlink · 26/02/2019 16:03

Oooh Roman you have to let us know how it goes. Could you maybe substitute the full body HIIT for something different but equally challenging? 🤔 Insanity Cardio Circuit and Cardio Abs maybe? (Always dreaded those 😂)

yumyumpoppycat yaaaas! I did wonder about where you were 😂😂 gosh, at least you got it sorted! Plenty of sunshine for you... sunbed every now and then maybe? 🤔😂 take it easy on yourself with he workouts... your body needs to recuperate a bit and get some balance again 😊😊 you'll be smashing it again in no time!

I took an extra day on Sunday. I was only gonna do one rest day as I'd had my two in the middle of the week. But I needed to dedicate some time to OH. We've been so busy with work/DS/DIY in the house, that we hadn't spent much time on us so that was nice. So caught up with Week 3 Legs yesterday night.

I had to drop weights completely for side lunges whilst I got used to the movement. Being careful with my knee. For the HIIT I didn't take a break at all during the soccer (it's football) runs. It's those catchers that do me in. I'm determined to beat them!!

Also made the mistake of baking a chocolate cake yesterday. It's bloody lovely!!!! So I gave half to PILs 🙈 in a bid to not consume the whole thing.
I've already had a slice today but I want the rest. It's all I keep thinking about!!!!! If I'm still doing it later, I will have a thin sliver.

Has anyone tried the Fixate recipes? Some of them are delicious!!! And pretty much guilt free. I love it. I'm going to bake some gluten free bread (ideal because the price of them in supermarkets is extortionate!). I also made Chicken Parmesan yesterday and Grandma's Own Tomato Sauce. I also seasoned the chicken with the Smoky South Western Seasoning. Lush! The chocolate cake, I'm afraid to say, was NOT from the Fixate recipe book 🤭🤭

Reastie · 26/02/2019 18:36

Purple I’m on the mn hg thread, they have been fantastic.

Yummy how fascinating about the vitamin d deficiency. I think it’s probably more common than we realise. I’ve been making a point of sitting in the garden the past few days with the sun out to get some vitamin d as I’ve been cooped inside for months. Thanks for the thrush comment, I’m eating a huge quantity but other than potatoes everything I’m having is very healthy and pretty clean (although way too much!). At least hopefully the good choices will stand me in good stead for when I go back to workouts.

Did 20 minutes arms and legs work this morning. Didn’t push myself but felt like I did something albeit small iykwim. Yesterday I did 25 mins gentle cycling. All very slow and gentle and easy and not every day but last pg I literally did nothing. Weirdly I have put on the same amount of weight at this point than last time (2.5 stone Shock ) so I know I’m in for a long marathon of hard work come later this year but I’m wondering if I just can’t really control how much weight my body puts on in pg, I just have to go with it, make good choices and accept I will put on a lot. I’m 2 stone lighter as a starting weight than last time so that’s something.

Plink making chocolate cake is dangerous! See that’s the good thing about being gluten and sugar free, I can make as much as I like but no matter how good it smells I accept I just can’t eat it Grin

Purpleraindeer · 27/02/2019 07:40

Hello!
So, I finished liift4 last night woo hoo! Unlike roman I love the full body HIIT workouts so was a good way to finish for me. I thought liift was great and super effective. For me, I’d have liked a little bit more HIIT as I love that bit but no program is perfect...I’m at a bit of a loss now. Will make a spur of the moment decision later re what to do next. Suspect I’ll do another round of liift again soon once I’ve got some heavier weights (thanks for the recommendation poppy)

Poppy - I’m glad you’ve got the vit d diagnosed. I immediately googled symptoms when I read your post. You must have been feeling terrible. Apparently it’s quite common. I work in an inside job and in winter barely see daylight so I can’t help thinking I might be too.

Reastie - good to hear from you. I’m sure you’re right re weight in pregnancy. My cousin who is very fit and athletic put on 50lbs with each of hers despite being a healthy eater and exercising.

Plink - catchers are obviously your nemesis move. Mine is twisting plank mountain climbers (impossible) and side lunges (miserable). I’d take catchers any day over those

Have a good day all

PlinkPlink · 27/02/2019 11:33

Well done Reastie 👏👏 20 mins is better than nothing. You are doing fabulously! Keep going when you can 🤩 this was a particularly amazing gluten free cake but it had a ton of sugar in it so no slice for you I'm afraid 😂😂😂 my friend makes diabetic friendly and gluten free cakes so you could have one of them 🤔😂😂

Purple well done!!! I bet it feels fantastic!!! 🤩 catchers and triple bears. I will do sure those bad boys by the end, I'm determined!! 🤣 I love the twisting plank mountain climbers 😂 they're great fun. Better than normal mountain climbers, they're also alot better than the Insanity version of mountain climbers which I always hate 🤬 you know the ones where you're stood up and have to climb the air and look like a right twonk at the same time Side lunges are hard... I'm definitely with you on that!!

Purpleraindeer · 27/02/2019 20:40

Triple bears - you’re right. They’re my nemesis. I can’t ever imagine doing them properly. Ow.

So, went back to my roots tonight and did max30 max out cardio. Was like meeting up with an old friend! I do love a bit of crazy Shaun t. I’m feeling pleasantly knackered now. I love that post hard cardio workout feeling. Weirdly my abs are feeling quite tired. Confused. Maybe I’ll do a few weeks of max30.....

Reastie · 28/02/2019 11:08

Plink it’s probably a good thing is I never meet your friend who can do gf sugar free cake Wink

Yesterday did 25 mins gentle exercise bike, today did 30 minute 2nd trimester yoga from the secret site. Still feeling sick but still trying very hard to keep up good habits when I’m up to it. This week has seen a few pounds of weight gain which I’m presuming is water weight as I can’t see how I can suddenly put on that much!

PlinkPlink · 28/02/2019 20:55

Yay!! Purple they are mad workouts aren't they with him? Mental! I do miss that satisfaction you get at the end of such an intense cardio blowout. I bet you were buzzing after 🤣🤣

Haha, I think so Reastie I live too far away to order anything from her so I'm safe too 🤣
Lovely bit of calming yoga 😊 How far along are you now? 🤔

Did Week 4 Chest and Triceps last night. Oh. My. Days. I upped my weights to 7.5kg like I did last time but for some reason they felt far heavier? I managed it but Jesus! I was shaking. I couldn't do more than 4 tricep pushups (which incidentally is 2 more than last time so still progress 🤣)

I measured myself today too! I have lost 5lbs and 4+1/2 inches! Most of that has gone from my waist. I'm so happy. I was starting to lose faith that it might not be working... clearly it is!

Also, I managed to stop myself from eating all the food today. I had 3 biscuits, and 4 chunks of fruit and nut. I wanted more and I was really craving it but I didn't... instead I made protein balls and they're currently sat in the fridge cooling ready for me to eat. I call that a win in my book give me all the chocolate, please, just let me eat my whole body weight in fruit and nut

Theromanempire · 03/03/2019 10:19

yumyum lovely to hear from you - I have been wondering about you too. At least now you know what the problem is and can treat it - take the time you need and then get back into the exercise! I was totally unaware that Vit D deficiency would have such effects Shock

Reastie you sound a lot more positive now which is great. I agree that the weight gain in pregnancy is what it is so you might aswell embrace it, not worry about it and then deal with it when you can. I guess acceptance of the situation will make it less stressful.

plink/purple my LIIFT buddies!! Glad you enjoyed the program Purple, definitely worth another round in a couple of weeks. My plan is to complete a round, have a 2/3 week break where I do all the other workouts that I enjoy (T25/21DF) then get back into another 8 weeks.

My nemesis moves in LIIFT are the side lunges (is there anyone who likes them??) - not because they are difficult but they seem to go on forever - 180 degree rotating squats (if it is for longer than 30 seconds) and non-modified triple bears. I can do modified triple bears but not a chance of doing normal ones for anything longer than 15 seconds Grin

As for Catchers, I really struggle to get down to the floor (just not mobile enough) so I do them using the sofa. So, I do jump my legs back and in but it just makes it manageable so might be worth a try?

So I am doing Joels' hybrid calendar now but this week hasn't been great in terms of opportunities to workout due to other commitments so I have literally only done the 4 LIIFT workouts in week 1 and none of the CDF ones which is a shame. Hopefully next week, I should be able to do at least 5 workouts so can do it properly.

Happy Sunday all Smile

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 03/03/2019 18:54

Plink - that is fab about the inches loss! Can I ask a question though - do you measure lots of bits of you and then total the amount of inches lost? I’ve always wondered that Blush. It really seemed counter intuitive to me that dojng a workout with so little cardio would have such an effect on my shape. I’m glad it’s working for you too.

Good to hear from you roman. I hope you’re enjoying your hybrid. Have you found any of your old favourites easier? Maybe try 21dfx for a change?

I’m sort of regretting my max30 commitment. I did max out strength on sat (what a lot of press ups!!) and then max out sweat today. They are haaaaard workouts and the change of pace in terms of the intensity of the cardio is a shock! I did totally nail the abs moves though thanks to Joel. Rest day tomorrow. Yay

PlinkPlink · 03/03/2019 20:16

Nice, you've got a good plan there Roman

The side lunges are just bloody weird for me... I don't know why but it did my knees a bit of good I think... some unpredictable movements thrown in for them 🤔

Oh I don't mind the 180` ones in comparison to the square squats I did last workout. What the !#@$ were they? 😂 Oh that's quite a good mod for your catchers! Well done!

What is CDF like? 🤔🤔

Workouts have happened for me but the past few days DS has been I'll with croup/bronchiolitis/something. We went to docs and be have him antibiotics but I'm still not sure that's the best course of action. Hey what do I know - I'm not a doc? Anyway, because of that he's been waking alot in the night which has made catching up a bit impossible. To top it off, I have a cough now too and seem to go from feeling okay one minute to totally drained the next. Yesterday I bf DS pretty much all day, he lost his appetite for food a bit and just wanted alot of comfort so that really took it out of me too. I'm hoping I can squeeze one (possible two) in tonight but see how it goes.
My fallback though is, if I don't workout, I can at least keep my nutrition on course and keep going that way.

PlinkPlink · 03/03/2019 20:31

Purple oh well the program spiel you can print off gets you to take measurements of your chest, waist, hips, arms and legs. You do it again at 4 and 8 weeks 😊😊 never done it before so this was interesting.
It does feel odd losing weight with weights 😂😂

Well done on your Max 30 and I bet it feels great to smash the abs part 🎉🎉 it's a bit depressing with cardio I find... in that, if you don't do it regularly for 2 weeks, your levels drop so fast. I found it so defeating. After 2 weeks or so your levels should be back to that level but it's just getting there 😖

yumyumpoppycat · 06/03/2019 09:19

Purple max 30 is definitely a shock to the system - if I get any where near to the point where I am doing that once or twice a week again (maxing out at 10 minutes say) I will be so happy.

Plink poor you and baby plink - hope he is feeling better.

Reastie you are so inspiring - plus just think how amazing it is going to be exercising without feeling sick once you have had your baby.

Roman I cant remember much about liift - I think I have blanked it from my memory Grin but I think I found side lunges ok - it is the rest of it that was impossible - don't even mention bear crawls!

So I did 10 minute of yoga and literally that was all I could do but even wanting to exercise is an improvement. My energy is definitely improving - but lets face it I am not the most energetic at the best of times Blush

Purpleraindeer · 07/03/2019 06:28

Oh no plink. Your poor ds and poor you. I hope he’s feeling better now.

Poppy - glad you’re feeling a bit better. Did the doc say when you’d be back to feeling normal? Good that you can do a bit of yoga

I’ve done 2x max30 this week. 1 week of it down 3x weeks to go Shock. It is making my wrists hurt from all the press ups and the balls of my feet hurt from the jumping. Sad. Day off today and a run tomorrow so hopefully I’ll feel better by the time I’m back on it on Saturday!

yumyumpoppycat · 07/03/2019 13:31

Purple are you mixing the max 30 with something more gentle? Hope your rest day sorts out the aches and pains.

Am not sure how long until I feel back to normal. I think it is going to take a couple of months by which time it will be a lot sunnier anyway which will help. I don't like strappy tops and shorts etc but will have to slap on some fake tan stuff and get on with it I think! 20 mins yoga today.

PlinkPlink · 07/03/2019 14:04

Hey everyone! Hope you're all well

Baby Plink 😂😂 he's had his antibiotics (got a couple more doses left). His nappies?!! Oh my days 🙈🙈 I think he's gotten over the worst of it though.
Me? I'm still coughing like a seal 🙄 I did a workout Week 4 Shoulders but it was getting a bit painful for my lungs which is never a good thing. So I have resigned myself to not working out until I'm fully rested. Then I'm gonna come back at it and smash it 😂😂

Well done on the yoga Yum , nice and gentle til you're back on your feet. It'll get there.

Well done Purple on your Max30! Immense work!! It's surprising how much strain it puts on odd parts of your body, places you'd never even think could ache? 😂😂

Hope you're doing well Reastieand Roman 🤩🤩

Reastie · 09/03/2019 16:48

Hey,

Got an alert on fb for an event in London for Shaun t. Didn’t look any more into it as I can’t do it atm but thought I’d mention it should anyone here be interested.

Good to hear how you’re getting along.

Yummy yes not feeling sick when exercising is the dream atm!

Plink I hope your Ds is better soon and your seal cough improves.

Nearly 25 weeks here. Have got up to doing 30 mins on bike on a good day. It feels tough going although it’s onoy gentle really. This morning I only did 20 minutes as I overdid it yesterday cleaning the floor and really paid cor it feeling dire all yesterday evening so taking it more gently today. 2.5 stome weight gain down, would love to get to the end of pg and not exceed 190lbs, that’s my current goal although tbh if I don’t manage it I can’t really help it iykwim. 190lbs is still 60lbs less than my max weight which was when dd was 1.

Purpleraindeer · 11/03/2019 07:43

Reastie - 30mins on a bike sounds like a massive step since you last posted! Fab. Do remember that 190lbs being pregnant isn’t the same as 190lbs not pregnant. When the baby is born you’ll lose loads of that straight away. Lots of it will be placenta and additional water/blood volume.

So, I discovered something lovely this weekend. But it is so lovely it is like crack and now I’m worried I’m addicted..... peanut butter in porridge. Yum. It makes it delicious. Am trying not to do it every day as I don’t really need the extra Cals but my porridge felt all weak and thin without it this am Sad

Anyway - good-ish weekend of exercise. 10mile run on Friday and 2x max 30 over the weekend. Sunday’s effort was a bit pathetic as I was slow and kept stopping but never mind. Ive got a weird knee pain. I’ve never had it like this before. I think it’s tight muscles in my leg but I can’t work out what I need to stretch. I might have to go to the physio which I hate. She is so moany and negative about whatever exercise I say I do. Angry

Hope you had good weekends! Smile
