Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

Hi everyone Smile

plink welcome back! Glad you are still on it and working hard. I do agree about weight lifting - I think it is actually more important than cardio and I much prefer it but it does give you a great shape. Someone commented the other day that I had a lovely shape (albeit a size 14-16 lovely shape Grin) and I absolutely credit Liift with that. I'm going to look amazing when all my fat has gone and I am just left with the muscle that is well hidden underneath Grin Grin

reastie hope the movicol is still helping. I suffer with constipation intermittently and it is a nightmare! I understand that consumption of sugar free sweets can help in this situation in an explosive manner but I have never been brave enough to try it Wink

purple I agree about the sideways lunges although I don't find them that hard, they just seem to go on forever! My heart always sinks when Joel mentions them. Although clearly reverse lunges go on for the same length of time but I don't mind them Confused

Should have done week 4 legs tonight but I am too tired - have been for a walk this afternoon which involved a lot of hills/climbing/mudsliding. So we will have to do 5 workouts this week to catch up which I have no idea how we are going to fit that in with the DC's evening commitments!

Re weights - we now have 7 sets of dumbbells so quite a lot of choice. The lowest is 1.25kg and the highest can go up to 10kg (just for information, we got a pair yesterday from Aldi which were £11 each so £22 for the pair but they are the ones with plates so you can change the weight on them). The heaviest we used to have was 7.5kg but DH wanted something a bit heavier and, to be fair, I wanted the 7.5kg for a couple of exercises but DH was always using them. However, he put the new ones at 10kg and they were too heavy so he is going to keep them at 8kg for now to increase gradually.

I tend to use 5kg for most of the exercises but could go heavier on legs and chest presses but go to 4.5kg lower on reverse flies, lat raises, skull crushers and definitely much lighter on swimmers and even lighter on the shoulder reverse fly things Grin

What a lovely compliment roman! I agree re shape and weights too. I do love cardio though so can’t stop that altogether.

I dream of having your amazing weights selection. I need 6kg and 10kg really. I use 8kg for as much as possible, but the 4kg a lot too. I cannot envisage ever being able to bicep curl or do skull crushers with 8kg though. I think I would literally crush my skull! Grin

I have a confession to make.... I did not do my workout yesterday due to.....a hangover Shock. I will admit it was worth it though! So, I’m inspired by roman who is gojng to catch up the missed workout so I’m thinking of doing 5x lift and 1x run between now and next Sunday. I feel tired just thinking about it. I did do back/biceps week 4 tonight and wk 4 legs will be tomorrow.

Entirely understandable re not going out or socialising much reastie. It’s impossibel to feel like seeing friends if you feel poorly.

PlinkPlink · 29/01/2019 11:56

Oh Reastie that's fair enough. Gosh, you poor thing. I think you're doing amazingly well to be getting anything done! I hope it eases up soon 😖😖

Roman !! Hey, thanks for the welcome back 😄 well I'm gonna give the free workout a go. It's on YouTube so I'm gonna try before I buy 😂😂 impressive set of weights there! We've got a bunch (I need to get the rest down from the loft)... I think the dumbbell set I got were 2kg, 4kg and 8kg. OH's weights were better though with a bigger range and heavier set. Plus a bar. 5 workouts 🙈 argh! Go easy on yourself if you don't manage to squeeze all that in. Sounds hectic 😂😂

Haha purple 😂😂😂 always seems like a good idea at the time then the next day you get the hangover from hell 😂😂 what happened to the days when we could just have a cup of tea and a bacon sarnie and be right as rain again? 😫😫 takes a full 3 days now to recover 😂 well done on having the drive to catch up!!

Well, I was going to do the free Liift workout yesterday but I did my knee exercises and then DS demanded my attention. By the time I came back out I was exhausted 😖 and then I made it worse by having a late night snack of chicken and coleslaw, a slice of toast and a twirl 🙄 don't often do that but I was really hungry 😂😂 anyone else seem to get days where they want to eat the whole bloody fridge? 😂😂😂😂

PlinkPlink · 30/01/2019 00:24

I just did the Liift 4 taster work out on YouTube...

Oh. My. God.

Where has this been all my life? I can't believe I've only just gotten round to it. Wha the hell? I have been missing out! Totally blows T25 and Insanity out the water for me!!

Theromanempire · 30/01/2019 11:46

plink I love your enthusiasm for Liift - I absolutely love love love it so I am glad someone else does Grin the format absolutely suits me as I love weight lifting but not that keen on cardio so the fact the HIIT parts are generally short and challenging (but not to the ridiculous extent of Insanity) are perfect. I am into my third round now and still ridiculously in love with it - and I can tell that it is has had a significant impact on my cardio fitness which is great for so little actual cardio work.

purple yes we have quite a wide range of weights but they are all at the lower end which we don't really need now. What we really need is a range that is 6kg, 7kg, 8kg etc as it is frustrating that you know you need to increase but a jump of 2.5kg is too much Confused But actually how many people who workout at home have the choice of weights they do on the workouts?? Think Joel may be a bit unrealistic there Hmm

reastie hope you are ok and still improving slowly Smile

Managed to finish off week 4 on Monday and started week 5 yesterday with Back and Biceps Smile

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 30/01/2019 20:57

I’m glad you liked liift plink - join the liift club. It is amazingly effective.

I finished week 4 yesterday (that HIIT legs workout felt not too bad so I’m sure i didn’t work hard enough...) then started week 5 today - triceps. And I went up a weight just like Joel said Halo. I couldn’t manage all 3 sets at the heavier weight but it was better than nothing.

I have a well earned rest day tomorrow!

PlinkPlink · 30/01/2019 21:23

Roman it is perfect . Never been a big cardio fan (so T25 and Insanity were always hard to get jazzed up for unless I was doing it all the time). I'm just amazed at how little cardio there is and I'm super excited to get it going!! My arms are aching today... not too bad but enough. And it wasn't too much for my knees! Those triple bears were a bit of a killer though 😂😂 had to stop a few times on those!

It's amazing Purple haha! I can't wait to see the progress. There's always a small part of me that thinks that in order to lose lots of body fat you have to do lots of cardio... don't know where that comes from but I'm hoping this prove that wrong. Bet it feels amazing going up in weights! Woop!! 🎉🎉🎉

I had a non scale victory celebration today. I was desperately craving fish and chips for tea. Put it on two fast food apps. Put it in the basket. Then thought no... restrain yourself Plink... grilled some salmon and made some scrambled egg with veggies. Not the same satisfaction 😂😂 but it was much better fuel for my body. Think it was 3 red, 2 green and 1 orange in terms of pots. I love the 21 day fix pots... it makes it so easy. I'm wondering if I can transfer that to Liift? He mentioned macros and just making sure you fulfil them so maybe not? 🤔🤔

Theromanempire · 30/01/2019 21:41

purple well done on the weight increase Smile I also did week 5 chest/triceps tonight and increased my chest press/rotating chest press to 7.5kg (from 5kg). Managed all sets at that weight so feeling good.

plink honestly, you will be amazed at the difference in your cardio fitness and your shape once you complete the 8 weeks. The last 2 weeks are 'shred' ones and even though the workouts aren't that different, some weird magic happens and you see real changes! Love your NSV, well done! I also resisted the temptation of McD's today - went and got a happy meal for the DC's lunch but had a homemade salad myself Halo

OP posts:
PlinkPlink · 31/01/2019 16:12

Purple hope you're enjoying your rest day!

Reastie how are you doing?

Roman I cannot wait!! I woke up excited at the thought of starting the programme today 🤩🤩 oh well done on your NSV! It's hard especially when people around you are eating the naughty stuff 😄😄 Its hard to break habits that have been around for so long. But those victories make me think that that mindset is changing - so actually it's a bigger victory than it seems.

Reastie · 31/01/2019 19:08

Well done on all the progress and hard work. Haven’t posted as haven’t felt too great this week, think I’m coming down with dds bug so feeling rubbish on top of feeling sick. Managed 20 minutes gentle cycling on Tuesday but that’s it, haven’t felt up to anything else. Have scan tomorrow but feeling rubbish today and really worried about driving there in the snow in the morning. I’m really hoping we get loads of snow as I would rather leave it until I feel a bit better and I don’t want the stress of driving first thing in the snow.

Purpleraindeer · 31/01/2019 20:58

I think that’s very wise re the snow reastie. Sorry you’re coming down with something. That’s the last thing you need!

Good nsv plink. I think you get momentum on that sort of thing - you create habits to eat well or badly. It’s hard to create the habit though!

You’ve made me look forward to shred weeks roman. Well done on 7.5kg for chest press. Awesome! I did 8kg but I only managed one set at that weight. The rest of them were split part 8kg part 4kg. I get a bit scared when I get tired doing chest press - I worry that my arms will get wobbly and I’ll drop the weight on my head!

My calves are killing today. Those stupid one leg jumps have absolutely broken them....

Purpleraindeer · 02/02/2019 18:00

Hope you’ve all enjoyed the snow if you’ve had it!

Managed a 9.5 mile run yesterday in pristine white snow which was lovely. It wasn’t cold and was very pretty. It always amazes me how different everything looks. I went a very familiar route and I had to check a few times as I wasn’t sure where I was! Legs were killing today so I was pleased it was back/biceps with no HIIT. I don’t think my biceps will be pleased with me tomorrow. One more workout and then I’ll have done my 6 for the week. It has knackered me. I had a nap today and briefly dozed off yesterday too Blush

Have good Saturdays all!

Purpleraindeer · 04/02/2019 07:55

Woo hoo - I did it - 6 workouts last week and I’ve caught up my missed ones!

Shoulders last night. Ouch. I’ve worked out why I really struggle in my left arm/shoulder. I’ve spent 5yrs lifting dd and ds with my right arm which is now bionically strong but my left arm is all weedy. Let’s hope liift sorts it out.
Well earned rest day today.
Please come back and talk to me - I’m on my own on this thread at the moment...... Sad

Theromanempire · 04/02/2019 11:23

purple I'm here!! Just struggle to post at weekends or if I am busy at work as I hate typing long messages on my phone so have to wait till I have my laptop on! Great work on catching up on your workouts - 6 in a week is hardcore! We did 5 this last week to catch up and my body has shut down Grin

So, did week 5 Legs yesterday - OMG!! Totally broke me and DH (purple I guess you still have this one to come??) it includes both reverse lunges and side lunges so that is 20 exercises each so the weights part is hard - then the HIIT on top is a killer! Then we went for a 4 mile walk in the afternoon and my arse is screaming at me today.

However, onwards and upwards - cracking on with week 6 tonight which starts with chest/triceps circuit so no HIIT thankfully but I am then going to clubbercise afterwards. God knows what my legs will be like tomorrow Hmm

PlinkPlink · 04/02/2019 21:05

Hi ladies! Sorry Purple didn't mean to abandon you! This weekend was absolutely mental and involved me essentially saving OHs life 😳 I won't go into details but let's just say the end of dry January was eventful for him! 🙈😂

Reastie how did it go? I hope you re-arranged for later?

Purple well done on the workouts! Absolutely smashing it!! And an amazing snow run too! You're brave. I'm a right wuss when it comes to the cold 😂😂 I bet it looked so beautiful though 😍

Roman 😂😂😂 "my arse is screaming at me" 😂😂😂 smashing it aswell Roman!!

Today is day 1 of Liift for me and I'm super excited. Nutrition has been on plan and I even made one of those Fixate recipes for OH today 😋 yum! Now I'm just about to escape the little one as he's gone to sleep, get my gear on and then I'll post another little update 🤩🤩

In a bit.... 🖐

PlinkPlink · 04/02/2019 21:06

Btw where is yumyumpoppycat ? You still here chicken? 🤔🙁

PlinkPlink · 05/02/2019 17:24

I wanted to post last night but the fella came home as I was just finishing my shower so didnt get round to it.

Oh my days...

I made the mistake of trying to get myself up from the floor this morning using my arms. What a fatal mistake that was! OW! 😂😂😂

Bloody good though!! Loved Liift last night. Need to get the higher weights down from the loft but still.... ouch! 😂😂 my muscles have seriously depleted though and I was using 4.5kg weights for most of it and finding it hard 🙈🙈🙈

I'll get you back, muscles 💪💪😂😂😂

Purpleraindeer · 05/02/2019 20:48

Bloody hell plink. It sounds like you had a dramatic time with your dh. How scary. I hope you’re both ok now.

Welcome to liift. That was exactly my experience re weights. I was on 4kg and still struggling. My poor arms. Week 2 was the worst. I was wiped out. I think I’m used to it now? It is so effective though. I have muscly shoulders and back now. Blush

Roman - there is NO WAY I could do a walk/clubbercise after week 5 legs. Respect. My legs are all floppy and tired. That was hard. Even the abs bit was difficult. I had to drop the weight and modified triple bears from the start. I am wondering about how I’ll get down the stairs tomorrow. And when he said we should be using 30/40lb dumbbells I realised I had some way to go before I’d be like the cast. I’m still on 8kg!

PlinkPlink · 05/02/2019 21:30

God yes purple 😂😂 it took me a little while for my head to get round how serious it was. It was pure luck, absolutely pure luck. I didn't even shout at him the next day, I was just grateful that something told me to keep an eye on him.

Oh yay! Not just me then! 😂😂 I wonder what day 2 brings. The is for the warning re: week 2. I'll try not to dread that 😂😂😂

8kg is about 17.6lb so you're more than halfway there!!! 🤣🤣🤣 their dumbbells look so tiny though, how do they weight that much? 😱😂😂

PlinkPlink · 05/02/2019 23:14

Currently lying here waiting for DS to drift back to sleep after interrupting me for the fourth time 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Theromanempire · 06/02/2019 14:27

plink gosh, how scary with your DH. I bet you are still recovering from the shock Sad Got to love the Liift muscle burn Grin Your muscles will definitely return quicker than you imagine they will!

purple yes, yes, yes to the wobbly and tired legs after week 5 legs. Both me and DH had those but had to go for a walk - both DC train together for an hour on Sunday afternoons in a countryside setting so we have an hour of 'our' time (we get very very little!) so we like to make the most of it. We literally collapsed on the sofa when we got home though for the rest of Sunday night Grin

So I did Clubbercise on Monday night and ignored the arse pain when squatting. I was amazed at how much energy I had - even the more high intensity tracks did not feel that challenging! I like to think that the Liift cardio is working it's magic again but it was probably more likely to just be one of those days where you feel good (I have read that there are certain points in the monthly cycle where that happens Confused so maybe it was that)?

Need to do week 6 back/biceps tonight - had a sneak preview as DH did it yesterday. The Hiit is 60 seconds of burpees Shock, then 45 seconds of mountain climbers and then 30 secs of 180 degree squats - going to test me tonight I feel!!

So, whilst my weight has not really gone down dramatically, my clothes are definitely a bit looser which is good. And I can suck my stomach in and it goes a bit concave at the top of my abs which it hasn't done for a long long time (obviously as soon as I breathe out, it goes round again Grin) so something has definitely changed!

OP posts:
Reastie · 06/02/2019 17:32

Hi, I’m here, I just struggle to read your posts as I’m so damn envious of your workouts when I can’t manage anything. It’s not fair! So I made the scan on Friday as snow wasn’t nearly as much as predicted and all was ok and they think it’s a boy Shock which I was surprised about as just kind of assumed it would be another girl. Not sure what to do with a boy!!

Plink sounds like you’ e had a really eventful few days! Hope dh realises how lucky he is you saved his life!

So envious of all your leg and bicep aches!

PlinkPlink · 06/02/2019 20:34

Roman it took a while and I'm still feeling it a bit. Keep giving him extra tight hugs before he goes off for work now. Oh well done on the Clubbercise - probably a bit of both cycle and Liift4 cardio magic? I was always amazed at how quickly you can shape up with cardio. First 3 days are a struggle maybe but pretty soon you're keeping up and doing jumping jacks with the best of 'em 😂 ugh mountain climbers 😖😖 bloody hate them! Burpees, ok, 180 degree squats, ok but ouch... mountain climbers, nooooo. They're evil! 😂 It's nice noticing the changes in the body isn't it? Very encouraging!

Oh Reastie you poor thing. I remember that feeling so so well. Awful. I felt so upset I couldn't work out. So I ended up bingeing on cheesy chips and beans (I don't advise you do that 😂😂). Oh yay!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 a boy!!!!!! Congratulations! Boys are awesome (in my entirely biased opinion 😂). I'm going to tell you now because we weren't made aware until alot later than we should have been: when you change their nappy, you have to tuck the willy down, so it points down and not up. That stops the nappy keeps leaking all the time. Ridiculous the amount of times we changed him 🙈🙈🙄🙄 yeah OH is v grateful and genuinely remorseful. He said he'd never do it to me again. Bless him. Think he's gone off vodka for a bit 😂

Well I managed to complete the 2nd workout last night but DS woke up no less than 6 times. He's got a cough and a bit of a temp as a result of that so he's a tad restless at the moment. Poor little mite. I started the workout at 9.30pm and finished at 11.30pm. Very interrupted but I still got it done! We had roast chicken for lunch today and I allowed myself a few treats throughout the day. I had an extra pot of roast potatoes, gravy, a biscuit and a sparkling flavoured water with a dash of vodka. The important thing is I didn't binge or go overboard.

On a less exciting note, I have my period arriving and I always, always struggle to eat well during the first few days. I crave chocolate like mad and I just want comfort food. I never feel like I have the energy to workout and I just feel crappy. So I'm hoping I can avoid that this time. If not, at least minimise the damage. I already feel my chocolate cravings. I won't deny myself so I might have a 2 or 3 pieces but that's all... And I'm not going to take the chocolate bar with me, I'm going to break off the pieces there and put it back in the fridge... I will be so disappointed in myself if I don't 😣

Reastie · 07/02/2019 11:25

Plink I used to get that with chocolate (before I gave up sugar etc, after a while when I gave it up the cravings kind of went away) and I’d buy low calorie hot choc which would help satisfy my cravings or else I’d eat a small pot of chocolate petit filous Grin . Gave me an outlet for my craving without doing too much damage. Thank you for that nappy changing tip, I’d never have known that! I’m also really worried I’ll get wee’d on the face during nappy changing times, any way to stop that? I’m thinking about covering it over with a flannel for as much as possible during the change to avoid a wee spurting on my face Shock.

No attempt at anything physical today as recovering from getting to hospital yesterday. Have managed to clean the bathroom though which I haven’t done in over 3 months so that was my exercise for the day. I really hope dh has cleaned it in the interim as that’s a long time! There was a lot more dust about than when I do it regularly so I’m assuming his attempts were pretty superficial.

Purpleraindeer · 07/02/2019 20:00

Well - I thought I wasn’t sore and was congratulating myself for being so hardcore and fit yesterday. Sadly I was totally wrong and after shoulders yesterday I now am knackered and I have arse ache from the legs workout 2 days ago like Roman. Damn those side lunges!

Roman - that is fab on the shape change. Excellent.

Reastie - congrats on a boy! They’re lovely. So cuddly. My other boy willy tip is for potty training - point it down otherwise you’d be amazed how far the wee can go!!

Plink - I’m so impressed at your 2hr workout marathon. I’d have given up. I still have dd interrupting me after she should have gone to bed (too hot/tired/thirsty/bored/sad etc etc) and she doesn’t get much sympathy from me whilst I’m grunting through liift. I resent it a bit - that’s my only ‘me’ time in the whole day so I don’t want to be interrupted.

Not sure what I’ll do tomorrow. Admin has got in the way of my normal run. Annoying. Maybe liift in the afternoon.
