Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

Not me. I’ve injured myself Sad!
I’m an idiot. Dh and I moved a massive fridge freezer today and somehow I pulled my back. It’s properly sore. I could barely move at one point today. I’m hoping for a miracle and am popping ibuprofen. Idiot.
Fingers crossed it feels better tomorrow but I suspect I’ll need to rest for a few days.....

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 13/01/2019 21:00

Thanks for the welcome Grin

I've had a few days off from exercise this week, been settling my DS into nursery, starting my second round of Liift4 tomorrow and really looking forward to getting back into it! DH has said he wants to try it this time too so I'm hoping for a bit of healthy competition

Reastie · 14/01/2019 07:17

Purple definitand ly worth being gentle on your back now for the long run (spoken from someone who wasn’t and ended out with a slipped disc). Hopefully in a few days you’ll be right as rein.

Enjoy restarting liift Dave.

Thermo I love doing bicep workouts as I feel like a proper muscle person Blush

Nothing much here as has a week end of feeling awful. Just when I thought it wasn’t improving. Continuing gentle walks/gentle strength/yoga. Yesterday I did some lying on side leg/glute work but it make me shaky.

Purpleraindeer · 14/01/2019 18:42

Oh no reastie. I am reminded of when I had little babies and I had a few nights of good sleep and I assumed that that was the new pattern and then got frustrated when I had a bad night again. Someone wisely told me that progress doesn’t go in straight lines which helped remind me of the bigger picture. It must be very frustrating for you though so I understand why you’re feeling fed up.

My back is a lot better today which is a big relief. I couldn’t get my tights on properly this am so I’m amazed at the improvement through the day. I’ve had to work late tonight which is good I think as I’d have been tempted to do a workout which would have been premature. Back on it tomorrow hopefully

Reastie · 14/01/2019 18:59

Just don’t be too full on tomorrow purple, seriously, my bad back took over 2 years to recover from and I was shuffling around work, according to a colleague rather helpfully, like I had the walk of someone just given birth!

Today was better than yesterday (so far). Went for a walk on an actual road with people which mentally feels tougher but felt very dizzy and faint for most of it and had to lie down when I got home. Have been eating every hour or so and it’s rewlly making a difference to how I feel and helping. So, I either put on a huge amount of weight but don’t feel as bad or I try to eat less frequently and hopefully not get as fat but feel awful Confused .

Purpleraindeer · 15/01/2019 20:40

I did legs week 2 tonight and I loved it. I do love a bit of HIIT but I’ll admit I wasn’t enjoying those bear crawl things. They’re awful. It’s a very effective workout isn’t it? I was knackered and it was all done in 29mins. Fab. It reminded me a lot of max30 in a good way.

Reastie - I know you told me to take it easy - I thought HIIT would be better than weights and I had no back pain so that’s good. I did wince when he said ‘you’ve got 2 rest days coming up’ as I’m a day behind so I’ve got week 3 workouts to start tomorrow!

Reastie · 18/01/2019 09:10

Purple how’s the back now?

Well, I’ve signed up to LMOD again and did the first 3 BA tracks this morning. I did them low impact and much slower and had to adapt a lot (eg slow little squats instead of plyo lunges). I’m just praying it doesn’t make me worse later and tomorrow. I so want to do something physical again, I’m getting a triple chin, but little things make me feel awful. It’s got to the point whet even if I do nothing I’m having good days so this morning was a bit of a test. I hope I don’t regret it. I want to be healthy!! Cross your fingers for me

Reastie · 18/01/2019 09:42

Urgh, I feel terrible and have had to go back to bed. LMOD was a mistake. Gah, I’m trying so hard here but every time I try I feel so awful I wish I hadn’t

Theromanempire · 18/01/2019 12:12

Reastie full credit for trying the BA tracks - at least you know where the limit is at the moment and next time, it might just be that little bit easier. I can only imagine how frustrated you must be Sad Just keep going, one day at a time - you must be nearly half way through now?

Purple how's the back? Have you managed any other workouts yet?
Yes, the triple bears are awful but I generally modify them and they are slightly less awful Wink

I am cracking on with week 3 - got shoulders to do tonight and then legs at some point over the weekend. One of the other workouts this week (think it was chest/triceps one) had 60 seconds of 180 degree squat jumps Shock Wtf is Joel thinking?? I can do 30 seconds max and then I had to drop to modified ones each time.

I feel bad for talking about my weight loss as it seems a bit insensitive to Reastie - hope you don't mind? If you do, just say so and I will stop Smile I've managed to shift 6lbs since 31st December - not quite back to pre-Christmas weight but my target to do that was end of Jan. Just another 2 stone to go Grin

OP posts:
Reastie · 18/01/2019 12:28

Thermo that’s fantastic and not insensitive at all. I’m logging my weight gain as I’m hoping being aware of how it’s increasing is a better approach to putting my head in the sand and refusing to acknowledge my weight which is what I did last time. I’m at the point atm of feeling sick and having to eat but being able to eat more variety so I’m trying to eat lots of vegetables (weirdly I can’t manage fruit but I can manage salad) through the day so at least if my diet is stilll mainly potato based I’m having some nutrition. I’m 17.5 weeks now, time is dragging!

Re the jump squats I think they do a ridiculous length on purpose because it makes you think you need to work harder and do better and have further to go. No one said it would be easy and there’s always more to do!

Purpleraindeer · 19/01/2019 13:26

Hello!
Yes I’ve been on it this week. Have done week 3 triceps/chest and back/biceps. 1min of 180 jumps!!! Shock. Needless to say I didn’t get through the full minute in any round. I made the mistake of thinking 3 circuits of 2 exercises - easy peasy - so I got what I deserved and was half dead by the end! My arms were like floppy spaghetti the next day. Will do shoulders tomorrow. Also got a run in on Friday Halo

Well done on the weight loss roman. Very good. I’ve shifted 2lb since Xmas Blush. I am looking a bit leaner though and my arms are quite buff now. Liift is very effective isn’t it?

Reastie I’m very admiring of your doggedness. I’m sorry the workout was too much but soon it won’t be. Good plan on tracking the weight gain too.

Have a good day all

Theromanempire · 19/01/2019 15:55

purple yes Liift is amazingly effective. No idea why but it seems to deliver quick, good results and, even more so considering it is only 4 workouts a week and none are longer than 40 minutes! Unfortunately my muscles are still buried under a layer of fat Wink

Change of plans yesterday - ended up doing Legs with DH last night and then Shoulders this morning followed by T25 Stretch which felt good! I have yet to find a more effective stretch workout than that although I am bored of Shaun's spiel. Going for an hour's walk tomorrow hopefully and then on with week 4 on Monday Smile

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 20/01/2019 17:45

Did shoulders earlier today. Ouch! Roman - you didn’t warn me about the horror of those awful swimmer lift things! I was using my 2kg weights for those and struggled to get through the sets. I don’t think my ‘caps’ are going to be looking as buff as Joel’s anytime soon....
Dh spotted a bit of 6 pack outline on me today. I was delighted. He was horrified. Grin

Theromanempire · 21/01/2019 09:22

purple I wouldn't want to ruin all the surprises Wink The swimmer move is one of my favourites - I admit I got a bit cocky on Saturday morning and thought I could do it with 3kg weights - managed the first set ok but then had to drop to 2.5kg for the other 2 Grin

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 21/01/2019 14:21

You’ve obviously got a much better selection of weights than me roman. My options are 2kg, 4kg and 8kg. I started with 4kg for the swimmers and managed 3 before realising my error. I’ve not been able to up my weights like Joel is asking in week 3 as the gaps between my weights are too big. I guess I should really get some 6kg and some 10kg but dh is going to get fed up with the living room transforming into a gym and they’re expensive.
Has anyone got a good cheap weights website they could recommend?

Reastie · 21/01/2019 20:14

Purple I’ve seen weights on eBay and gumtree cheaply. I got one of my weights by asking on a local fb selling group. In the meantime can you sneak in a few extra reps to build up before heavier weight?

Gentle yoga this morning only as had terrible evening yesterday. Think I’ve worked out the laxitive I have to take to counter the effects of an anti sickness medicine is making the nausea worse so switching to another one and hoping for better results . Has anyone ever used movicol?

PlinkPlink · 22/01/2019 17:16

I'm back y'all 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

Eek! Spent too much time away from the thread! Missed you all!! 😄 Hope you all had a lovely Xmas and Nye!

I deleted the app from my phone and then I stopped getting emails so I ended up not coming on 😖 I spent a bit too much time on MN anyway but I wanted to come back to this thread 😊

Back on the 21 day fix portion tubs and slowly adding workouts... length and frequency wise.

Amazing Reastie that you're back on the exercise wagon!! Superb! I didn't do a damn thing during my pg. Consequently, I started resembling a blown up hippo pretty quickly 😂😂😂

So good to hear you're all still going for it and getting workouts done 👌👌

I've been doing 21 day fix portion tubs for 2 weeks now (and feel so good for it) and gradually increasing workout length and frequency. I even managed an Insanity Plyometric workout in full on Sunday night 🙊

So good to be back, have really missed checking in xxx

PlinkPlink · 22/01/2019 18:18

Oh Reastie, Movicol? Yes 😂😂 when my diet changed.

One evening I started getting the worst stomach pains of my life. It was excruciating! Long story short though 😂😂😂, some paramedics gave me Movicol. They said take 2 sachets right now. It won't work right away but when it works you'll want to be right next to the loo. It didn't quite happen that way but it really did work. Go for the blackcurrant flavour 😄😄

Reastie · 22/01/2019 18:51

Good to see you again plink, have been thinking of you. Glad to hear your back on it and building up in strength again. Took 1.5 movicol today but no movement yet...

Purpleraindeer · 22/01/2019 21:43

Movicol?! Oh dear reastie. I hope it works!

Welcome back plink. We’ve missed you. Good work on insanity plyo. I remember a few summers ago doing insanity. Insanity max plyo (the mth 2 one) was horrendous. I used to dread it.

Lift week 3 legs just done. Didn’t enjoy it but that was mostly as I started it late and then just was inpatient to get it over. I really don’t enjoy those sideways lunges. I find them really hard. Week 4 starts tomorrow. Yay!

PlinkPlink · 23/01/2019 20:39

Thanks ladies 😄

Reastie Movicol should be doing the trick... the paramedic gave me the impression the world was going to fall out of my arse and pretty soon too 😂. Like I say it didn't happen that way, it just went back to normal but it should work 🤔

How about prunes? 😂😂😂 thats the old method that always used to work 😂

Well done on Liift Purple . I heard someone say once that the ones we don't want to do are the most important. It's so good you still did it!!

I'll be working out tomorrow night, I hope. Not sure what I'll go for but whatever it is, I'll use it as a warm up and do some weights. Mini holiday to aim for too in May 🤩🤩 down in Newquay. Nice bit of motivation!! 😂

Purpleraindeer · 25/01/2019 10:59

Hello all!
Week 4 started with the chest/triceps one. It didn’t totally kill me so I’m either getting stronger or I didn’t work hard enough... went for a run today. Was super muddy and my legs felt tired so it was a bit shorter than I wanted. It has been a hectic week so I’m now sitting quietly with a nice coffee (I don’t work on Fridays) which I feel a bit guilty about!

Reastie · 25/01/2019 15:53

Hi all, movicol is sort of working but I’m still getting dire nausea I thought other laxitive was causing so I haven’t solved the problem :(

Managed 20 minutes very gentle cycling on exercise bike this morning but have been on the sofa feeling sick for most of the rest of the day. In goodish news have been tracking weight and apparently I’m likely to roughly put on 1lb a week now but have maintaining for nearly 2 weeks. I can’t wrork out how given how much I’ve been eating but I’ll take it!

Do any of you have fitness wrist watch trackers for your dc? Dd has asked for one for her birthday and I can only really find a garmin (that looks a bit young for her) or Fitbit for children. I could get her a cheap amazon one for adults but I think it’ll be too big for her wrist. She’s only 8 though and I don’t really think she needs £80 spending on one (which is the cost of the child Fitbit) and I don’t think the app is compatible with her iPad.

Purple hope you’re enjouing your day off, a short run is beating those (like me) sitting on the sofa so it’s still a win.

Plink I can’t stomach prunes but I have bought grape and orange juice which apparently can help. I’ve also been drinking copious amounts. Jealous of Cornwall break. We were due to go to south of France in May this year, we’ve had it planned to go this May for about 5 years (said we’d do it the year dh paid off mortgage) but obviously that’s now indefinitely on hold.

PlinkPlink · 26/01/2019 13:26

Purple if you've had hectic week, sitting down with a nice coffee sounds like a very reasonable thing to do 😂 no guilt needed there, I don't think! You're smashing it... liift and a nice run (albeit a muddy one). Superb!

Reastie oh very well done on your cycling. That's fantastic! Argh shame about the nausea 😖😖 has it eased up from how it was at the beginning at all?
Trying to think of what else could get you moving 🤔 cauliflower cheese always seems to work with DS 😂😂
Oh no... could you squeeze it in at all before baby arrives? I'm sure it'll happen 😊😊

Managed a T25 workout on Thursday evening. Cardio. Really enjoyed it. I still can't really jump or do crazy jumpy lungey squatty moves but I'll get there.
I really want to get some weights in. Cardio is great for weight loss but i think weights give a better shape. Time to create another email address I think and try Liift 🤔🤔

Reastie · 26/01/2019 16:07

Plink I mean we could go but I’m still at the point of barely managing to go out the house because the nausea is still so bad. Just about ok with up to 45 minutes out then it gets too much. Last time I was the same - as soon as I did too much I felt awfully sick and too much was nothing. I literally didn’t see a single friend for 9 months because I couldn’t manage it. I sound pathetic, I know, but this really is dire and when I feel sick I just want to hide away. There’s little chance of a holiday until I get this baby out! Well done onnthe t25. I did some gentle strength stuff for 30 minutes this morning (few squats, weights bits).
