Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

I haven't started phase 3 yet - that is next week. Can't wait Hmm

Happy to be the official BB tester Grin although not if they look too hard Wink The workout seems to be a 30-minute HIIT with weights type workout - pretty hardcore I guess. However, Joel is quite easy on the eye so I think I will make DH do it considering I will have had 12 weeks of him ogling Autumn Wink

Purple no idea what CVX is - going to have a look now. But I am guessing if you have always struggled, then it will be a really hard one as you are much fitter than me. Well done on your improvements Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 29/03/2018 09:29

Well done on CVX Purple {hi five}

Roman all your workouts sound so interesting - I like Joel so be interesting to see what he has up his sleeve. MMA/combat type stuff are my favourite workouts (disclaimer - I probably look like a right loon - dc have in fact confirmed I look wimpy and not hardcore when doing bodycombat).

Reastie - fingers crossed the BFP comes soon x

Sorry I have been awol - I am just struggling so much at the moment to get into a healthy diet and exercise routine. Have limped through a few T25s but struggling - I mean really not even able to finish the 25 minutes. I know its the lack of consistency and I just need to get on with it, so no excuses I can give! Maybe I should consider another subscription as the expense might make me do it!

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 30/03/2018 08:37

Ok so 6 days over week maybe I shoukd cut it to 5 (although I don’t really count body balance as a workout...). Physio now thinks my postural shoulder muscles are so weak from lack of exercise from injury they are contributing to lack of rehab so focus now is on getting them worked but it’s almost impossible as so many exercises working this area flair up the elbow nerve! So I’ve got very specific exercises she’s adapted.

Last day of gym membership today before it runs out and hoping to take dd swimming later. I feel like I’m getting a cold and really don’t fancy it but she’s so excited to go!

Yumy you’re getting back on it, that’s the main thing. Give it a couple of weeks and I bet you’ll see a huge improvement from how you are now, it goes quickly but it also comes back quickly.

Thermo also interested how the Joel workout goes. I like him in the pump dvds.

Purple that’s ace with cvx. What weight do you use for it? I remember that being a huge grit your teeth to get through it type of workout.

Purpleraindeer · 30/03/2018 08:51

Poppy I totally get it re not being in the zone. I was the same after half term. I couldn’t be bothered and kept making excuses. Small goals help me - eg committing to 2x workouts and then build from there. Also remembering how good I feel when I am fit and regularly working out helps. I’m the same on combat workouts - in my head I’m Bruce Lee. In the mirror I’m a flailing sweaty pink middle aged woman!

Reastie - agreeing to take your dd swimming is much more hardcore than any workout. I never do it. Blush

Roman - cvx is a p90x3 workout. It’s on the secret site. It’s cardio but carrying a weight which I’ve always found hard. I started doing it with 2kg and now do it with 4kg.

My cvx triumph was short lived as really struggled with triometrics and eccentric upper this week. I stopped eccentric upper early and didn’t do the burn out as I felt tired. I did manage 2 unassisted close grip pull ups tho so was pleased with that. I’ll be Sarah Connor at the start of terminator 2 before I know it!

Have a good Easter all!

yumyumpoppycat · 30/03/2018 19:02

Thanks both - you're all so supportive that's probably the only reason I get any workouts at all done - I don't want to leave the thread Grin

T25 dynamic core seen through till the end - not perfectly done but feeling more positive!

Reastie my dd2 asked to go swimming yesterday and I wriggled out of it Blush - did you make it to the pool? Your physio sounds like she really knows her stuff.

Thinking about it Purple - how many pullups does sarah connor actually do - I am thinking only 3 or 4 so you are well on the way!!

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 30/03/2018 20:56

Couldn’t back out of swimming so had to take dd. Was a grin and bear it parenting afternoon but dd had great fun and gym pool was really quiet (I was convinced a very wet bank holiday would mean it was heaving but luckily not). I deserve a gold star parent award for the last couple of days as yesterday dd spent the afternoon making slime .

Yumy great you’re feeling more positive, you’ve made the hardest step getting back on the workout treadmill (see what I did there Wink ) so things will get better.

Purple I love and am so Envy how you can do unassisted pull ups. Terminator here you come! (I have no idea who this Sarah woman is but I’m assuming she’s strong!)

yumyumpoppycat · 31/03/2018 00:05

Reastie Shock Sarah Connor is John Connor's mother, in terminator 2 she is in a secure mental health unit and keeps fit in preparation for the apocalypse by doing pull-ups - as one would Wink

Purpleraindeer · 02/04/2018 17:16

Hello - I’m assuming it’s quiet on here as we’ve all been eating chocolate and exercising alternately all weekend!

Was away so went for a couple of very short runs. A bit pathetic really but it was VERY hilly (think running uphill constantly for 15mins then running back down again) so in that sense I guess it was good for me. Decelerator today. My upper body now hates me.

Depressing day here. I had no idea it was possible to have so much rain fall out of th sky

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 02/04/2018 19:54

Purple I couldn’t run up hills solidly for 15 minutes, sometimes when I’m running and there’s a really steep hill I have to slow right down and ocassionakky walk (I tell myself if my hr monitor is on the highest hiit training level when I’m fast working it still counts as hard work!). Sounds like a good workout to me.

Did an 8.5k run in Saturday and missed the rain luckily. When I came home all dd could say was ‘why is your back wet mummy?’ (It’s sweat dd, I was working hard!). Did p90x3lower yesterday and my glutes were aching today from it so did bodybalance which I limped through with some nice post workout aches from the week end. Would love to do BA tomorrow but think I should have a rest day given 3 days in a row.

No chocolate consumed here but did have some homemade no added sugar and gluten free oat, lemon, and raisin biscuits that I made up the recipe for (I’ve been experimenting with making up my own recipes).

I wish it would stop raining here too, it’s getting old now!

Theromanempire · 03/04/2018 03:33

purple running up a hill for 15 minutes Shock impressive stuff! When I was at my peak running ability, I used to avoid hills at all costs as they were always my nemesis!

Reastie those biscuits sound delicious! And I think you deserve a rest day aswell Wink

I have had a bad weekend in terms of eating (i.e too much food, chocolate and wine) but have still exercised everyday although I don't think that would have undone the food damage Grin

I have never committed to an exercise routine like I have with 80DO - not missed a workout since I started (although it helps that I am only doing 4 out of the 6 weekly workouts as there is no way I could fit 6 in each week).

So whilst I am totally motivated on the exercise front, I have not been great generally with food. So, I have signed up to a new eating programme (team RH if any of you have heard of it?) which is basically about eating within a calorie allowance but trying to stick to specific macros for carbs, protein and fat each day. It is also expected that you do 15000 steps a day which I have no idea how I am going to do that Confused I hope it works!

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 03/04/2018 03:33

Oh and I cannot sleep hence the ridiculous posting hour Blush

OP posts:
YuleABUnREASTIEable · 03/04/2018 07:39

Thermo I’ve never heard of team rh, sounds interesting though and will be waiting for updates. It makes sense to me to think about where the calories come from rather than just limiting calories. 15000 steps a day is quite a lot, I don’t manage that most days! I can imagine you doing what my mum does with her Fitbit which is walking in the spot in the house in the evening if she hasn’t got enough steps to get the daily total up a bit Wink . It’s good you’ve been sticking to a workout plan though, do you think the results are better than picking your own choice of workouts? Oh, and did you ever find out what the spider/twig in the drink was all about from the workout I snuck in in midway through? I want to know!

Theromanempire · 03/04/2018 08:07

Reastie yes I do think the results have been better by following a set programme. I am certainly getting stronger in both my core and my arms and I think it is because I am not just choosing workouts I enjoy and therefore repeating the same workouts over and over again and just doing the same modifications rather than challenging myself - this programme is a different workout every single day and the mix of exercises is so varied and as it is aimed at intermediate/advanced level, it does challenge you.

We have done the spider/twig one and didn't really get it either (the woman who found the spider/twig is Autumn's sister) although I think they decided it was a twig in the end Hmm

So I have put my food in MFP - I have 500 calories spare and I am already 20g over my fat macro Confused and, looking at what I am planning on eating it today, I would not consider it high fat at all so I am not sure how on earth I am going to keep it at the right level!! Or my eating habits are so skewed that I have lost sight of what is 'low-fat' Confused This is going to be a long and difficult journey I feel Sad

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 03/04/2018 23:13

Hi all! Roman - sometimes MFP has incorrect information so it's worth looking through to see if anything you entered looks higher than you would have expected for fat - possibly if you try another version of that item it will be lower. Good luck with RH, have heard of it but not tried it.

Purpleraindeer · 04/04/2018 08:02

15000 steps??? That for me would be impossible (sedentary office job). I count anything over 3000 as a super active day Blush. This excludes workouts but still it’s sobering to know how inactive I am.

I immediately googled team RH. Looks good roman - a bit like the body coach? I found having some food rules really helpful and looking at macros was great - it does make it a very tricky puzzle to work out what to eat - do they give you meal ideas too. I always had the same problem as you with the fat - in order to get to the right Cals and protein without too many carbs my fat always went over. I do remember finding the cal/nutrient content of food absolutely horrifying - humous and cheese (my favourites) were particularly shocking. Also when you’re living within a cal allowance going to places like costa and seeing all the cakes at 500cals which was nearly half my cal limit for the day made me realise why we all gain weight!

Am really glad the 80do is working for you - just think you can take all that motivation and put it into your diet too. Fab!

Back on p90x3 later. 2 weeks to go. Also need to start runnning again as have a half mara in July. God. I wish I’d never signed up for that but I’ve committed now.....

Theromanempire · 04/04/2018 08:18

Ok so I lasted a day on the programme Blush I realised yesterday afternoon that I will find it too hard - like you purple there is no way I would ever make it to 15000 steps a day due to my job. To achieve that would involve marching on the spot for at least an hour every night and I am not going to do that. Also, I was supposed to drink 4 litres (!) of water. By early afternoon, I had managed just short of 2 litres and I could not leave the house due to the constant loo trips and my bladder was actually hurting! Can you imagine being at work in that situation?? Totally not practical.

However, I am going to monitor my calories on MFP (loosely try to match the macros but not stress too much if I don't), continue with 80DO and just try and be a bit more mindful about walking wherever possible (my friend gave me a tip yesterday about always going to the upstairs loo rather than the downstairs one) and drink at least 2 litres a day but not aim for 4 Confused

I also bit the bullet and bought a pair of weighing scales yesterday as I think I need to monitor whether it is working or not rather than just relying on clothes like I have done. Bit of a shock getting on this morning as I am nearer 16 stone than 15 stone Sad But, on the plus side, my arms must be really strong to be able to do press ups lifting 16 stone Grin

purple signing up for a half marathon should motivate you to train no? There must be training programmes out there to help (like C25K but obviously longer distances) plus the weather should improve and it is always much better running in the summer Wink

OP posts:
YuleABUnREASTIEable · 04/04/2018 09:39

Thermo if it helps with the weight I lost nearly 10lbs when I had to stop doing any weights work due to injury. Nothing else changed in my diet so I’m putting most of it down to muscle loss, I bet your gain is muscle.

Purple well done on the sign up for half marathon, hopefully the training won’t be too awful and once you get in the swing it’ll be good.

I drink about 4-5 litres of water a day. I always need the loo!! I used to drink over 6 litres a day but it got a bit of an issue not just because I needed the loo all the time but I’d get headaches if I didn’t drink that much as my body was used to it. I’m a teacher so can only go to the loo at break and lunch times so have to plan drinking around when I can use the loo!

yumyumpoppycat · 04/04/2018 18:15

Roman that sounds like a really good plan. 4 litres of water Shock no way - although I could manage 4l of tea and coffee Grin Can I be very cheeky and ask what the macros were?

Purple I was semi contemplating a half marathon this year but chickened out with actually signing up. Hope it all goes well.

I have started chalean extreme for the gabillionth time but decided to start with round 3 as I never seem to make it that far. This means I get to see some new wacky chalean outfits which is a bonus! Planning to do 2 shaun t's a week too.

Theromanempire · 05/04/2018 11:12

reastie seriously how do you manage to drink that much and not need the toilet every 5 minutes? Did you build it up gradually and does your body get used to it?

Yum I can share the macros but I don't think it would be relevant to you as the calorie/macro allowance is based on your weight and the amount you need to be in a calorie deficit. As I am 15st 10, my calories will be way above what yours would be.

So yesterday was better - didn't stress about hitting my macros, just focused on the calories. Also, just drank regularly throughout the day and managed to get to just under 3 litres without the painful bladder and toilet issues.

Hope you are all having a good break - the sun is shining today which makes everything feel better Smile

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 06/04/2018 06:32

That sounds like a sensible approach roman. Probably once you get used to managing the Cals you can start on the macros too. That’s what I did anyway - was mentally hard work though constantly juggling what I could/should eat. But it is now instinctive. No way I could drink 4l + of water either. I probably drink 2-3.

Poppy I hope Chalean extreme is good. Do share any pics of those outfits. Those boots are still burned into my brain.

Eccentric Lower 2 days ago and then warrior last night for me. Felt eccentric lower didn’t work me hard enough and was a bit cross but then did warrior and my legs were really tired so it obv did something. For anyone who wants a good whole body workout do try warrior from p90x3. Its excellent.

Not sure how I’ll do my half mara training. I think I’ll probably work out as normal in the week and then just do an increasing long run at the weekend. I trained for a 10k that way so I’m hoping it will work

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 06/04/2018 07:31

Purple I know some people take training for runs very seriously and say you need 3 runs a week with hill training etc but when I was running longer distances I did it by just one week end run and gradually increasing the length and doing my next rank workouts in the week like you plan to so I think you should be fine, it’ll be a good challenge! I agree warrior is a really good workout.

Thermo I have big pint mugs for tea and big glasses for drinks! I was thinking earlier how many times a day I go to the loo....on average I reckon about 15 roughly. Is that a lot? Blush I think it probably is. Often when I go out I do an extra loo trip ‘just in case’ I wonder what the average amount is, dd only goes probably about 5-7.... I do notice I go to the loo a lot more than anyone else I know!

Was busy yesterday but needed to sneak a workout in so do 30minute bodystep but was disappointed it was only 27 minutes long and had two warm up tracks as well as longish cool down. It didn’t really feel like it counted but I guess better than nothing. Hoping to do a little core workout later today despite the fact it’s a rest day which I’ll mentally tag into the end of yesterday’s mini step workout.

yumyumpoppycat · 06/04/2018 08:07

Hi all

Purple it was all the training putting me off as I would rather do dvds so that is interesting. I really like warrior too! Think I will do an insanity max 30 today eek.

Reastie I think I read some advice given to me after having dc that it is best to wee at least every 3 hours but not more frequently than every hour - a quick google suggested 4 - 10 times a day is within normal but it depends how much you drink so that will be why you wee more often.

Roman glad your day worked out better being bit more relaxed.

yumyumpoppycat · 08/04/2018 10:48

How is everyone, hope happy easter hols all round.

So did most Blush of the 1st insanity max 30 w/o had the modifier on and switched between modifiying and non modifiying - still maxed out on pike up spider lunges round 7 minutes and was properly sweaty after 15 minutes.

Also did chalean extreme - outfit update - shiny tight gold top with black trousers and shoes - gold trim; other workout was identical but silver - cast coordinated of course Grin I quite like the lean phase (level 3) workouts but there is a lot of standing on one leg while lifting to make it harder. In this phase you do 12 reps have a 10 second break then do 3 slow 'extreme reps' I used 24lbs for one of the 3 rep squats which was fine but I need to get the weights ready one at a time on a higher surface next time ready to lift both together.

Purpleraindeer · 09/04/2018 07:46

24lbs is heavy poppy - was that handweights? Impressive. Outfit sounds horrific. You can’t buy that sort of thing in John Lewis!

Managed my first training run yesterday. Nearly didn’t go as was raining and I hate running in the rain but decided it was a bit pathetic to wimp out on day 1. Did 5miles. I’ll add 10mins time to my run each week from now on. my legs were battered after about 20mins. My calves and quads were killing. I guess they’re not used to it! Also did a hilarious eccentric upper workout with the kids on sat - they took a smal handweight each and did the exercises alongside me and then gave me water in the breaks. Was very fun.

Theromanempire · 09/04/2018 09:37

Morning all Smile

purple well done on the training run. 5 miles is quite an achievement first time out! Did you enjoy it? I admit now that I absolutely hated running - loved the sense of achievement at the end but actually doing it was just bloody torture. I persevered for a couple of years and got up to 10 miles but it was never fun! Much rather do a BA class or a good walk. My friends that I used to run with have taken it up again and keep inviting me along but I have no intention to do something that I hate again Grin

Yum love the update on Chalene's outfit - she is definitely one of a kind Grin 24lbs is great - the most I have used is 16lbs for goblet squats and side bends but that is the heaviest one we have in the house.

So my first week on Team RH has gone unexpectedly well after my first day blip Blush Just concentrating on my calories and making choices which are high protein (got some protein porridge pots/protein bars etc) and the macros are getting easier to hit aswell. I am feeling hungry a bit but I seem to be more controlled as I plan in treats and my willpower is strong at the moment. The predicted weight loss is at 1lb a week so it isn't fast and, if it works, I will only be down a stone/stone and a half by my holiday (when I really need to be 3 stone down Grin) but better than nothing. Christmas is a more realistic target Shock

I have also discovered low-cal ice-cream - full tubs at 340 calories that is also high in protein. I had half a tub of mint choc chip yesterday (so only 170 calories) but it was delicious and half a tub was enough.
