Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

Yes, she does a 20 minute (ish) stretch one and a 20 minute (ish) foam rolling one in the first 2 weeks - then she suggests you do one or the other on the rest day each week after that depending on which you prefer/feel you need most.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 26/04/2018 12:20

There’s also a foam roller video on p90x2

Purpleraindeer · 27/04/2018 07:15

Good luck with the foam roller. You’re crazy. We had one here and it was so painful both DH and I were scared of it so we got rid of it in the end. Mind you I guess that says that we probably needed it! Running is tough on calves. I’d just do some other exercise until it eases so you can walk on it - then have a really short run to test it out. In my experience you know whether it is just soreness vs an injury and stop immediately if you think it’s an injury. That’s why I stopped running a lot of miles - my legs just couldn’t take it.

21dfx upper body and then abc here. Am tired and glad of the rest day. Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 27/04/2018 08:24

That's not sounding too promising purple! Will check out the videos Reastie and Roman, thanks all Flowers Feeling a lot better today actually, I can walk pretty much fine now, so planning to do a chalean - should be fine apart from lunges perhaps. I cant understand how it was so sore and now almost gone Blush

That’s good the leg is better poppy. Hope Chalean worked out ok and it’s still on the mend. I find I get really sore after running - it’s not just you!

Just did cardio fix extreme. I’m sure that last week I said I didn’t find it too bad. Today it killed me. I had to have a 5min lie down on the mat afterwards! Am now hiding upstairs having a little rest - I wonder how long it will take everyone else to notice. Smile

Purpleraindeer · 29/04/2018 12:45

Just ran 10.5 miles! Wasn’t supposed to be that far but got my route wrong (as usual!). I felt great though. Even the last 2 miles were fine. I’m amazed. I guess the DVDs really do make us fit Smile - I was expecting to really struggle today so I’m feeling very pleased

Hope you’re all having a good weekend

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 29/04/2018 13:51

I reported the above post on Friday to mn but they still haven’t removed it. They used to remove them really quickly Hmm . Maybe my report got lost somewhere.

Purple that is incredible, see, you are super fit! How long was your run? I think when I was doing that kind of length my polar tracker said I was burning nearly 1000 calories on the run!

I did 80do legs phase 1 today proudly looking forward to using my new sliders only to find phase 1 doesn’t use sliders! I snuck them in some of the moves to give them a use but next time will have to do a later phase. It’s so annoying as I can’t use weights so they are all sharing notes on what weights they are using and I’m there with none. It still felt challenging at times but I had to add in a few extra pulses etc here and there.

Dh has finally put up the full length mirror in the dining room so that I can check my form when working out. It looks a bit weird having a bedroom mirror in the dining room but hey ho.

Yumy are you all better now?

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2018 19:29

That is amazing Purple - cardio fix must have been good prep!

Excited for you to use your sliders properly Reastie.

I haven't really used my legs apart from walking as been mega busy but seem fine Blush talk about an over reactor.

Theromanempire · 29/04/2018 20:50

purple very impressive run! Love the way you just ran over 10 miles in the blink of an eye and 10 miles was the pinnacle of my running career and it took me months and months to build up to it Grin

Poppy glad the leg is better.

Reastie I am fairly sure that Legs phase 2 workouts use sliders and phase 3 definitely do (plus phase 3 has the added bonus of cardio moves in there aswell).

Have had a nightmare exercise-wise this week Sad Was doing so well with 80DO and we had hit our 4 x workouts a week up till this week and as it is week 11, I feel so disappointed that we got so close to the end and then blew it at the last hurdle! Was ok up to mid-week then it all went down hill due to lack of time/my birthday/other commitments. So, haven't done a 80DO since Monday (have done a clubbercise class plus a 6 mile walk in between) so going to have catch up on the last 3 remaining workouts of phase 3 this week and then move onto the last week after that. I know it isn't the end of the world but still feels like I have let myself down Sad

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 30/04/2018 06:49

Happy birthday for last week roman! WineCake

Sometimes life does just get in the way doesn’t it. I know why you’re Sad but this week is another week so you can get back on it in no time. Just put it behind you - you’ve been the most committed I’ve ever seen you doing 80do so one weeks missed workouts doesn’t change that!

Reastie - do one of the a little obsessed workouts - they all have sliders.

Thanks for the congrats on the run - I’ve been adding a mile/1.5 miles each week so I have built up to it. I fully ate my run calories though as had a massive slice of cake, big jacket potato and cheese and a roast dinner yesterday. Shock. I must have left my self restraint at mile 5!!

InsanityRocks · 30/04/2018 08:09

Morning All

Purple - That is fantastic, I am in awe that you found it so easy, and I used to run lots.

Yule - are you using Beachbody on demand for the 80 do workouts? If so, if you check under 'Details' for each one it tells you equipment needed.

Thermo - Don't be disappointed, sometimes a break helps to refocus, you haven't let yourself down, in fact you are my inspiration!

I have had a good and bad week - so busy with work, and so tired. I have done workouts but tbh some of them have been done half heartedly or using lower weights than I could. I also discovered a vegan café which does the most amazing cakes so I totally overindulged to the point of feeling bit sick.

I have had a knee problem for years - torn meniscus and been told the only way i can sort it out is by having an op which, as I'm self employed, would be really difficult, and, also the consultant said it might not get rid of the pain. The amazing thing is since building up all the muscle in my legs from 80do, I have had hardly any pain, a totally unexpected but fantastic NSV.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Theromanempire · 30/04/2018 10:28

Thanks everyone - I know it isn't a big issue but just so frustrated at myself (and DH Grin) Have worked out that if all goes to plan this week (which is highly unlikely due to the DC's activities that they do in the evenings Hmm) we should be able to finish the programme next Monday which would only be 1 day out. But realistically I don't think that will be the case.

Insanity great news about the knee - I maintain that 80DO is amazing Grin It is those NSV's that make all the hard work worthwhile Smile

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 30/04/2018 13:42

Sorry to butt in everyone but I have a quick question! I’m just over half way through 21DFX and was really enjoying it and starting to see results but I was in a car accident over the weekend and I’ve broken my nose! I can’t really breathe properly at the moment so anything cardio is out of the window for a bit but I was wondering if any of you know if I would be ok to continue the weighted exercise?

I really don’t want to lose my momentum as it feels like it’s taken me ages to start seeing results (and I’m going on holiday in 3 weeks and wanted to look half decent in my swimming costume for once)

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 30/04/2018 15:36

Hi Dave, poor you with the car accident, sounds nasty. I really don’t know re exercising and wouldn’t like to guess so I can’t really help at all, sorry, but I hope it improves soon. Would your gp be able to advise maybe if you can get an appointment? I don’t see why it would be a problem (although legs work might be hard as I always have a high heart rate and breathe a lot doing that) but I really don’t know.

Insanity that’s a fabulous nsv. I had a knee issue a while ago and o had to strengthen up another part of my knee with special exercises so I used that part of my knee not the part that hurt which really helped so maybe it’s like that. You’ll have to keep it up now whether yo want to or not to keep that knee in tip top condition!

Thermo I know how utterly depressing it seems to have a bad week but you will finish 80do and you’re still going with it despite the blip. Most people give up easily and don’t bother, you’ve got to have will power to keep pushing play!

Did bodystep today. My first step workout since falling off my step dramatically a couple of weeks ago. Have now got the mirror up to watch my form which really helped with the lunges to make sure my legs weren’t going wonky. Nearly fell off the step once Shock but stayed on and burned over 500 calories

yumyumpoppycat · 01/05/2018 16:56

Brilliant about your knee Insanity!

Just echoing everyone else Roman you are doing amazing, and although you shouldn't feel cross you should feel proud, it just shows how much it means to you.

Dave that sounds really painful - I imagine you will have to take things slowly and see how you go. It might be worth a phonecall to your GP as its probably one of those things that varies from person to person. From googling it looks as though you could exercise but obviously Google can take you down the wrong path! How is your nose now - hope it is improving for you Flowers

Chalean done today!

Well done for getting back on the step Reastie!! {fi-five} and also to everyone else!

Purpleraindeer · 01/05/2018 22:00

Hi Dave! Broken nose sounds painful. I would do anything which doesn’t involve lying down or plank or anything where you might get a rush of blood to the head. And then obv stop if it doesn’t feel right. Disclaimer: I have no idea whether that is good or awful advice.

Reastie - I am going to tell DH about your mirror for workouts. He is moaning about our living room looking like a gym. You’ve taken it to the next level! I hope it’s been helpful.

I agree on home workouts being amazing. I used to have knee probs too and having a bit more muscle and doing a variety of exercise has sorted it. I also think that’s why running is now easier - insanity makes you work at such a high intensity that going for a run feels a lot easier than burpees!

Dirty 30 for me tonight. Still can’t do that balance move properly and cannot imagine how it is even possible. I reckon autumn must be supported by invisible wires or something....

Purpleraindeer · 02/05/2018 19:31

Awful changing room experience today. Lighting was grim which didn’t help, but I don’t have a body image problem and my reflection gave me one temporarily. Why do they not make changing rooms nicer as then surely we’d buy more?! Anyway......

Did ABC extreme when I got back and that cheered me up a bit. Although squat holds are the work of the devil.

yumyumpoppycat · 02/05/2018 20:36

Oh god Purple I had exactly the same thing at the weekend! I had 3 hours of shopping to kill time while ds and his buddies were watching the new avengers movie, so I tried on swimming costumes and they were hideous - I looked like a brightly coloured sausage stuck on some chicken drumsticks or something equally awful!

Did Insanity max 30 cardio - Shanita is such a cheat she maxed out at 6 minutes when I did, but she wrote down 9 minutes. It is super hard though, too many plank type moves by far.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 02/05/2018 20:49

Purple and yumy that’s miserable, I hate that. You’d think they would make it all as flattering as possible so you buy their wares! I have rubbish body image so trips like that really drag me down.

Did insanity max cardio circuit today (yumy is that the one you did?), urgh I’m starting to hate it! How can such simple moves be so hard! I’m definitely out of insanity fitness.

Thinking of doing a cheeky run tomorrow just for the fun of it as I missed my run at the week end because of bad weather. Physio would eyeroll as it’ll mean 6 workouts in a week but I think if I do a gentle run for the love of it rather than to try to workout she might not mind... I’ve been eating too much this week so I need to burn off a bit more!

yumyumpoppycat · 02/05/2018 22:44

Yes that's the one Reastie! Is it just me who goes all goofy when Shaun T goes up to the screen at the end and says don't worry I still love you Grin I think I prefer sweat intervals - have you tried that yet? A gentle run will be therapeutic surely.

yumyumpoppycat · 04/05/2018 10:09

Did my 5 k well probably more like 7 including school run! - and I actually enjoyed it Shock probably helps it's a gorgeous day. Having music and cto5k and Mapmyrun apps going really helps and makes me want to improve. Chalean yesterday but my usual skip through version. I might do Insanity max 30 stretch workout now.

Hope you are all well and get to enjoy the glorious sunshine this weekend Smile

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 04/05/2018 16:57

Yumy me too! I kind of like it when Shaun t says things like ‘I can’t remember the name of my moves’ but then it makes me cringe a bit as he says the same things from the original insanity cardio that he must’ve been told to say as people like it. Glad you enjoyed the run, fabulous weather for it.

I ended out doing a cheeky 5 k yesterday as a bonus workout.

Today my lower back is really aching, grrrrr, I am so annoyed about it. I’m hoping it’s just because I carried a heavy laminator machine and gulilatine to my classroom to do some work and that’s tweaked it off. Fingers crossed for a run in the morning, I will be in a bad mood if my back hurts and I can’t!

So, at lunch today I got a huge shocked/taken aback eye from another member of staff looking at my lunch. I’m now really paranoid. I know what I had was healthy but I’m wondering if my portion sizes are getting bigger and bigger. I had a baked potato and cheese (not a huge amount of cheese) but I always fill the rest of my plate with salad from the salad bar, as in pile it up and the plate is really full, as I want to get lots of fruits and vegetables in me. So I had lettuce, sweet corn, peppers, cucumber, and carrots but a lot of them. I’m wondering if my portion is too big and she was looking at it as if I’m taking way too much, or if I should just ignore her. I’m ok eating lots of plain salad I would have thought, it’s good, right? Her plate had food that looked about half the amount of mine so now I’m paranoid I’m eating huge amounts...

Purpleraindeer · 05/05/2018 11:38

I cannot believe you prefer sweat intervals poppy. That one is my nemesis. No matter how fit I am I really struggle with it! I have one more 21dfx to do then I’ve done the 3 week programme. All the max30 chat has made me want to go back and do it again.

Reastie - hope you got out for your run today. It is lovely here. Please ignore anyone who you think is judging your food choices. Chances are it’s more about their food issues than what you’re eating. I worked with a girl who was constantly talking about how healthy/unhealthy what everyone else was eating was. After 5mths of it i realised I wasn’t doing anything odd, it was all her and probably an undiagnosed eating disorder.

Am enjoying a nice sit down after 11mile run this am. Was pretty slow as it is warm and my legs felt tired but it was so beautiful today. Smile

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 05/05/2018 19:55

Thanks purple. It got me so anxious I logged on to mfp for the first time in yonks and started to weigh all my food to log it. Tomorrow will do the whole day as today I more picked out things out of interest after weighing portions. Weighed myself this morning for the first time in over a month as I was in denial about getting fat and eating too much and weight has been creeping us very slowly since last summer and I haven’t put any in in the last month which I was very relieved about. I need to get used to feeling a bit hungry as my norm as I’ve become used to eating when I feel a bit hungry rather than leaving it a bit longer to build up a bit more hunger.

Was due to go for a run today but I did something to my back carrying something heavy yesterday. Was so miserable at the pain I went out for a walk thinking at least I was getting some movement but that made it worse so gave up after 10 minutes. Definitely better this evening than yesterday evening so crossing fingers for a gentle run tomorrow and if I’m lucky BA on Monday.

How is everyone enjoying the bank holiday and wonderful weather? Everything seems so much better when the sun shines!
