Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

plink see I love MFP Smile it seems to suit me and is what I've used to lose 2 stone so far. I get a strange sense of satisfaction from jiggling around with stuff to get my days food to meet the calories and macros Grin

I (re) started Liift4 yesterday although decided to switch day 1 and 2 around as I was also doing clubbercise last night so didn't want to do any cardio work beforehand. Going to do day 1 tonight. yum did you enjoy it?

PlinkPlink · 02/10/2018 11:22

Yum - 😂😂 I tend to do that too but once I got into the habit of it, I started using it all and not going over so much. The only thing I do a bit different is allow myself a small daily treat. Like a cup of tea and 2 chocolate biscuits. I don't bother counting it though. I've never been able to be so strict that I don't have treats. I find I fall off the wagon big style if I went myself little treats

Roman - MFP was actually ideal for Insanity. I really needed to track calories as I found after 4 weeks I was getting really tired. I decided to up my calories (as the book says you should) so MFP was really ideal for tracking it.
When I'm not on insanity though I find it too taxing 😂 it's literally scanning things and searching for products I know. But I make alot of home recipes so I have to then create a new recipe and divide it according to portions. Quite often I fiddle with the recipe too. I think I've got 5 different spaghetti Bolognese sauces on my MFP 😂
The 21 day fix pots are ideal for my laziness.
I didn't manage to do my T25 last week so I'm hoping to do it this week and get started. I find that if I tell someone I'm going to workout, I don't do it. Don't know why? I have to keep it to myself and then the motivation is entirely from myself and not because of an expectation from the person I've told... does that make sense? 😂

yumyumpoppycat · 02/10/2018 15:52

Roman I know exactly what you mean, and last time I lost all the weight it was MFP being used every day (more or less) that was key. I just can't face it right now Confused I think I am a bit of a child and need a shiny new app/ diet etc to get enthusiastic about and motivate me Blush Maybe alternating between 21 day fix and MFP apps will work for me.

Yes I enjoyed liift day 4 (it was a 20 min one without weights) BUT I am having twinges up my arm round my elbow etc so might need another stretch or balance day tomorrow, or a straight cardio like speed 2.0? I did a 20 min yoga camp one today - it was a bit boring tbh and I think all the chaturangas and down may have made my arm worse.

Plink I can understand that about t25 and self motivation, in RL I do better when I don't tell people about my diet/ exercise plans but posting on here seems to keep me on track. I am such a saddo - the only times I eat lots of veg is when I am on a healthy eating mumsnet thread; and they are boring after a while so people drop off thread pretty quick and I go back to veg dodging!

9/52

PlinkPlink · 02/10/2018 21:48

Well, we could sort of do our own veg motivation on here if you like? I need to do it too.

Super chuffed at the mo though as I've just finished my T25 workout!!! I didn't take a break, just used Tania as the modifier for bits. I'm super super happy. I'm not as unfit as I thought but still less so than I'd like.

I didn't tell my OH I was doing it. Just seems to work better when I don't blab it about 😂😂

I'm now having my recovery drink (BCAAs from Women's Best - yummy peach)

PlinkPlink · 02/10/2018 21:49

Roman is that clubbercise as in rave/trance music and working out?

That sounds freaking awesome!

Purpleraindeer · 03/10/2018 07:35

Woo hoo - well done plink!
I used to keep my workouts totally secret as I was a bit overweight and unfit and felt embarrassed. I also thought everyone would laugh at me for doing at home workouts. Now I’ve seen how well they work I’ve realised I just don’t care!

Started p90x3 again last night. Did total synergistics. I was amazed at how hard I found all the balance moves. I used to find them easy so I guess it really shows that workout programmes are all really different in terms of what you achieve from them. Also really struggled with pull ups/chin ups (even using the assist). Im definitely not Sarah Connor from terminator at the moment!

Theromanempire · 03/10/2018 11:23

plink yes, Clubbercise is dance-style aerobics to club music (mainly 90's stuff but there is a bit of a newer stuff aswell). But the best part is you do it in the dark and have flashing glowsticks to wave around - it's bloody amazing!! It's one workout I am never too tired for!

Another strange and unexpected NSV... even when I was at my heaviest, my ankles were always fairly slim. I tend to wear shoes with straps that go across the front of my ankle (if that makes sense). I haven't worn them that much over the summer as they are my 'wear with tights' work shoes and I have noticed that I now have to use the next hole in to do them in to make them tight enough Smile I never expected to lose weight on my feet and ankles Hmm

Didn't manage a workout yesterday and can't tonight so workout 2 of Liift4 will be tomorrow.

PlinkPlink · 03/10/2018 11:39

Purple - exactly. I always thought it was a bit embarrassing then I started seeing resullts. I look like a right plonker whilst I'm doing it 😂 but it's bloody brilliant! Well done on P90X3. It looks so intense!

Roman - that's brilliant news about your shoes! Always a lush feeling when you go down a notch! Well done!
Oh my days I have to find a clubbercise class near me!!! That sounds so much fun!!!!!!

yumyumpoppycat · 03/10/2018 14:15

Purple hopefully you will soon be in Sarah Connor mode again!

Plink well done on t25 {hifive}

My arm felt ok after all so went back to b 4 liift leg workout. I struggle with forearm planks (find it easier on my hands as my elbows get sore) so the core part sucked for me. but the rest was easy so I need to try a bit heavier wieght. To be fair they were lifting 30/40 lbs and I was mainly lifting 9lbs Blush

I spent ages making a pretty google drive spreadsheet for logging the weights on my phone as I was disappointed there was no liift app, but as soon as I finished I just thought why didn't I print the PDF?!

yumyumpoppycat · 03/10/2018 14:19

Roman are you going proper week 1? I am annoyed with myself for not doing b 4 liift sooner. Well done on shoe NSV!

Theromanempire · 03/10/2018 18:46

What are you doing? Are you doing the preview week rather than the full 8 week programme?

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 03/10/2018 19:32

yes I am doing the preview week - 20 minute workouts. I might try and switch to week 1 though on Friday.

PlinkPlink · 03/10/2018 20:20

Spreadsheet? That takes alot of dedication yum! Did you save it at least? 😂

Have you tried the Insanity Cardio Abs for core? Fuck. It's intense. It's only like 16 minutes and I avoid the mad frog jumps for my knees (thanks rugby) ... but oh my days. You'll be on FIRE!!!!!

I know you can't target bits on your body but I really hate my stomach. It's always the last sodding thing to go on the weight loss journey and it drives me mad. I've always had a bit of a pooch and now I'm in my 30s I want to spend the next decade (at least) with a flat stomach 😂 here's hoping haha.

Reastie · 04/10/2018 12:55

Purple I find the same with balance moves, if I don’t do them often my balance gets terrible quickly.

Thermo that’s a brilliant NSV. It’s weird when you lose weight from random places, my feet went up to nearly an 8 when I was at my heaviest and now I’m more like 6.5!

Home workouts are brilliant, I felt fitter doing a variety of home workouts than when I did the same classes in the gym week in week out.

Plink my stomach is my problem area too. When I do plank I have a huge pouch trailing down from my stomach!

Well, busy week but trying to be gentle on myself after workout on Sunday where I went all shaky and had to cut it short. Monday did half hour gentle yoga which was really just a bit of stretching but at least something. Wednesday I did spin (I still need to get a new bike as I only have 3 gears that work but I’m waiting until after I see the specialist on Monday about my arm should he tell me no cycling for an indefinite time) and today I’m feeling back on form (apart from a big ache in my calf which I’ve had since Sunday’s workout) so did an hours BodyAttack remix workout which was brilliant. Usually I do the 45 min BA and miss out on the ‘easy’ aerobic tracks with superman and leg flicks but finally got to do them today and the added bonus of my ultimate favourite power track (take me to church one if you do BA too) so left me in a great mood.

Purpleraindeer · 04/10/2018 19:14

I’ve got the plank stomach pouch too reastie. It looks like a saggy plastic bag. Shock bleugh

For someone who was taking it easy this week you seem to have done a lot of workouts! Hope you’re feeling better.

I can’t remember cardio abs. Although I do recall you were supposed to do it as a double with something else which was a killer.

I did cvx from p90x3 tonight. It was my nemesis for ages but is now manageable. I think it is all the weights I’ve done recently. Long run day tomorrow. Yay. I’ve got loads of podcasts to listen to. Excellent.

PlinkPlink · 04/10/2018 19:34

Well done on your BodyAttack and spinning Reastie. Not sure I could do spinning classes... I'm sure I'd end up falling off like Bridget Jones 😂 Not looked at BodyAttack before but I'll have a look see.

Purple - haha yes it was paired with Cardio. Cardio + Cardio Abs. I remember looking at that DVD with dread every time it came up. Killer!! Bet that feels lush now that your cvx is manageable. I always feel like that's the best measure of progress. It's great to lose weight but sometimes I find the satisfaction comes more from being able to rock a workout out.

I did another T25 last night. Only one modification exercise this time and went through the whole 25 minutes. So that's 2/25. Might end up doing another tonight. Might not. Not committing to anything because once I do.... 😂

yumyumpoppycat · 05/10/2018 09:58

Well done again Plink - only 1 modification is fantastic. Spreadsheet saved - luckily it was on Google so saves itself which is good as I once lost most of a 2000 word essay at school!

That's really interesting about you feeling fitter on home workouts Reastie, is it because you can really go for it at home? So glad you are back on form, and getting the exercise feel good thing. I miss the music from Les Mills I have to say, and the yoga esp is much more fun, but I am also enjoying the progression programme aspect of new workouts on BBOD.

Enjoy your run purple. Do you download podcasts on to your phone? I am such a technophobe I never download stuff other than kindle books. Hmmm maybe I could listen to some of dp's audio books maybe if I went for a run.

Did week 1 day 1 of HIIT4 which was a 40 min workout - seems like a big jump from 20 mins! I was fine with the weights and probably don't need to go heavier but prob want to sort out a selection in advance as wasn't enough time to change my powerblock in the breaks so I was catching up and lifting while they were resting. Going to take a lot of getting used to doing hIIT and core on top of weights. I was going nowhere with tricep pushups - even on my knees I only did about 0.5 of a pushup Blush

PlinkPlink · 05/10/2018 11:30

Im not keen on push ups until I can do them properly yum 😂

I did some last night... horrendous 😂😂 I could do a few but it was the classic push down was easy but getting back up my arms were shaking, then collapse on the floor a bit. Then try on my knees.

I struggle to control my breathing through them. So I end up holding my breath and exhausting myself 😂😂😂

Gotta keep trying though. Eventually that 0.5 will become a 1 😂😂 we'll dome on the workout... were you clock watching? I do that when I think it's going on too long 😂😂

Theromanempire · 05/10/2018 16:41

I did day 1 of Liift last night too Smile I literally cannot do tricep push ups at all so do the modification that they use in Body Attack classes. I did do some full push ups the other day though which was a recent development for me.

I need to do a gentle workout tonight as it is technically a rest day but I cannot think what to do! I want to do something like a Body Attack class (but low impact) but struggling to find full ones on youtube or maybe a dancy aerobic type one but no idea what to search for!

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 05/10/2018 20:19

Good point Plink I am tempted to think I will never be able to do a tricep pushup but I guess I am halfway to one Grin

I could do a couple of shallow pushups on my toes but even on my knees I can't do these blardy tricep ones. What is the modification Roman , is it flat back like a box rather than sloping? What workout did you go with in the end, I would have considered cize or country heat, or the stretch one on 80 day?

yumyumpoppycat · 05/10/2018 20:28

what about some super cheesy turbo jam! www.dailymotion.com/video/x6gepzh or zumba on there to. Don't know where daily motion has come from though - is it legit? Just came up on google.

Theromanempire · 05/10/2018 20:45

I'm ashamed to say I ended doing nothing Blush I couldn't find anything that I really fancied so took the lazy option!

Yes, the modified tricep push ups are in a box shape and you press your elbows down to the ground rather than lowering your body down. Really hard to explain but you do feel it in your triceps so I feel better doing 10 of those rather than 1 pathetic attempt at what the cast are doing Grin

Day 3 shoulders tomorrow..who else?

OP posts:
PlinkPlink · 05/10/2018 21:08

Diamond push ups are hard. I find them exceptionally difficult. Haven't attempted them since I tried them about 2 years ago 😂😂 never tried triceps ones... I don't think my brain could even cope with trying that 😂😂 lower yourself from your elbows? 😂

Don't be too hard on yourself Reastie. We all need a break sometimes. Sometimes physically, sometimes mentally. One day won't undo all the fabulous stuff you've been doing.

I did my third T25 last night but it was awful... I felt so sore and achey
My knees were getting sharp pains. When I just felt awful. Plus I stubbed my toe before I worked out - really badly. So I'm having a rest day today. I'd like to work out but... I've learnt to listen to my knees and ensure I have breaks. The rests are just as important in some ways.

It was nice waking up this morning and feeling how sore my abs were though... lush.

yumyumpoppycat · 05/10/2018 21:26

Good tip I will give that a try Roman and yes defo up for day 3 tomorrow.

Plink good idea to listen to your knees when they feel achey like that hopefully will stop them getting too sore. PS a t25 tip is that some of the 'harder' Beta workouts are actually easier than starter alpha work outs Grin Confused

PlinkPlink · 05/10/2018 21:57

Eh? How does that work? Haha I thought it would only get harder 😂😂

A few years ago, whilst I was playing rugby, I started getting swollen knees and tingling. Really random. Doc put me in for an MRI and found my cartilage was thinking on one side. I had tracking issues so went to physio. But I find if I do no exercise and then suddenly do loads, my knees really complain.
