Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

I just watched the into to turbo jam, I’ve dine turbo fire but not turbo jam and the intro is hilariously cheesy.

Forgot to say I find insanity cardio abs a nemesis, it’s so hard! I have to do a lot of breaks! But then I always find abs work hard and have a rubbish core.

I do wide push ups instead of tricep push ups as it aggregates my elbow less. Physio got me doing push ups leaning with hands on the dining table as a modification if anyone wants to try something different to on knees.

Hopeful for quick run this morning and then haven’t decided which workout tomorrow will bring yet.

Seeing specialist on Monday and going by last experience he may ban me from most exercises so enjoying whilst I still can! I was reading my notes from last time I saw him and wondering if he misdiagnosed me as he wrote I had tennis elbow but physio (who has treated me and seen me regularly for about 2 years so knows the issue well rather than just a quick consultation) is convinced it’s an ulnar nerve issue so we shall see! Hopefully I’ll finally be on the road to recovery after about 3 years of limited upper work. Cross fingers for me!

PlinkPlink · 06/10/2018 11:54

It's a nice change from sit ups and crunches though. C-sit position 😂 I like the music to it though 😂

Fingers crossed Reastie! Hope it gets sorted soon. Has your physio written some notes for you to take along to the appointment? If imagine they'd be helpful.

Laughing at my thinking cartilage and your aggregate elbows Reastie 😂😂😂 just what are you up to getting gravel all on your elbows? Wink 😂

yumyumpoppycat · 06/10/2018 15:47

Grin Reastie, I know the intro made me laugh. I think we all need to be on the look out again for the perfect free christmas party workout either super cheesy or really fun music.

Hope it is a good appt Reastie, if it is a nerve does that make it easier to fix?

I did shoulders day 3 of liift, really liked it. Started off on 6kg but soon worked my way down to no weights!

Reastie · 06/10/2018 16:32

If it’s nerve then I think I may need an operation to open up the route of the nerve Confused . The physio isn’t that keen on the operation route and keeps asking me if I’d do it or just keep putting up with the pain (which in a daily basis doesn’t hugely impact on my life but is a frequent discomfort/pain) but I have to limit pretty much every exercise I do because of it so it does impact on my life a lot.

Definitely let’s do a Christmas workout. Shall we do it on Christmas Eve again? I used to do a brilliantly cheesy Christmas aerobics class to all the Christmas tunes but the website went down a few years ago as they went bust :( can’t remember the name of it now.

Purpleraindeer · 07/10/2018 15:13

I’ve never done turbo jam. I’m a bit conservative with new workouts as if they turn out to not be good I get all cross. Yes. I know that is not rational!

Busy weekend here. 12mile run on Friday. Accidental rest day yesterday (we had guests so I didn’t feel I could just workout in the living room and was much too horrible weather for a run). Did some gardening (exhausting) and then p90x3 triometrics which was surprisingly hard. I had forgotten. Am now slumped on the sofa.

Reastie - I hope you get on ok at the consultant. Your shoulder impacts your life a lot so I guess if all the physio hasn’t worked the next option is surgery. You’ve done everything possible to avoid it so might be worth considering now?

Reastie · 07/10/2018 16:21

But purple sometimes I find a new workout is rubbish first time but once you get familiar with it you can put more effort in and so get a lot more from it. Well done on run and p90x3. Are you following the p90x3 schedule?

Did bodystep this morning and really enjoyed it. Was scared of falling off step as did a couple of times ago. Did the hour version as I feel I’ve been slacking a lot with short workouts recently when I should mix in some hour ones too. I’ve done my fancy body fat and muscle scales this morning (usually I just do weight not the other stats) and despite being the same weight as last time I did it my body fat has gone up and muscle gone down. I’ve noticed in the past year or so with doing less weights and more cardio and not being as obsessive with food I’m less toned and look chunkier despite losing nearly a stone so I think it is muscle I’ve lost and I’m definitely chubbier. Just goes to show don’t judge just by the scales of weight as my tummy is bigger than a couple of years ago despite being nearly a stone less!

Purpleraindeer · 08/10/2018 07:51

Whilst I know that muscle weighs more than fat I find that amazing about your weight/fat reastie. It seems hard to understand that it is possible to be lighter but fatter. Sympathies - it’s hard/impossible to be obsessive all the time and probably not good for you anyway. I am the same. I looked at my wobbly tum yesterday, but still had cake for pudding and cheese on toast for dinner. Oh dear. I’ve lost my healthy eating mojo.

I forgot to comment on tricep push ups which are ridiculously hard. I can do them but only 3 or 4. Do you remember boobz who used to post on here? She did 10 on her toes. I was so impressed.

Reastie · 08/10/2018 11:38

Boobz was super hardcore. I hope she’s well, she moved and got a busy job didn’t she? Bet she goes to that celeb London workout class still!

I wonder if my increasing tummy is also down to aging. I’m now late 30s so middle age spread could be happening. Has anyone else found their waistlines getting bigger but weight staying the same? Although having said that my thighs look fatter than when I weighed more but lifted weights a lot more so may just be a cardio vs weights toned thing.

Did cxworx this morning. Have to modify a lot with injury and also because I find it so hard! The work with the band makes me feel so weak but then I figure it’s never going to get better if I don’t keep trying.

Theromanempire · 08/10/2018 12:42

God Boobz really was hardcore wasn't she? do you remember that boxing match that she did? Tricep push ups were a walk in the park for her Wink

Weights are definitely key to getting slim and why they say to focus on inches and not weight. I assume that is why most of the new BOD workouts focus on weights rather than cardio.

Autumn has just announced that she is re-filming 21DF and 21DFX in real time. Not sure but I assume it will be the same workout/same exercises. I swear I could repeat everything Autumn says in 21DF as I have done them that often so it will be good to be able to do the same workouts but with fresh words Grin

Managed Day 3 of Liift on Saturday but Day 4 fell by the wayside yesterday. Am going to skip it so I can get back on track today with the start of Week 2.

Popping on for a quick update, new specialist has a new diagnosis for me! Previously I’ve been told it was tennis elbow then ulnar nerve cubital tunnel syndrome. Now this specialist said he thinks it’s golfers elbow! This is sort of good news as if this is correct I can have different treatment which might actually work. Have ordered a special splint I have to wear all day every day so feeling hopeful as didn’t want to have surgery but didn’t think there would be another option. It’s been about 4 years potentially of being wrongly diagnosed if that is the case though.

Purpleraindeer · 10/10/2018 06:58

That’s good about the diagnosis reastie - but very frustrating if theyve been wrong for all this time.

Exciting if there is a new 21dfx. That is an effective workout and yes, I need a new soundtrack as it is getting a bit familiar!

Did ‘the challenge’ from p90x3 on Monday - 96 pull ups and 96 push ups Shock not as hard as it sounds as it is in sets with rests but my arms and shoulders (and weirdly my thumb?!) are feeling it now still. I did nail the tricep push ups. It’s the diamond push ups I can’t do. They are officially impossible

Reastie · 10/10/2018 09:20

Purple can you do plyo pushups? I remember I could do modified diamond push ups when I did the challenge (never on toes though) but plyo were my nemesis.

Did rpm (LMOD version of spin) this morning with my bike with 3 gears. Only ever done the 30 min version but today pushed myself to 45 min version. It was torture at the time but I feel brilliant now!

Emailed physio re new diagnosis and she’s convinced the golf elbow is wrong but says it’s worth a try with the splint and she can show me exercises. Feeling Confused .

yumyumpoppycat · 10/10/2018 11:36

Good that there is a bit of hope around your injury Reastie, I guess that would explain why it hasn't responded to previous treatments? It would be amazing for you to get back on top form.

I think you are way too young for 'middle age spread'. Could it be bloating related to your IBS? My dp is 11 years older than me and 6ft 2 (I am 5 ft 3 and 3/4) and he is {whispers} only 6lbs heavier than me but he doesn't look super skinny around his tummy and he doesn't eat a huge amount so I do wonder if that is due to being that little bit older. Maybe I am in denial and people think look at that tall skinny man next to his short round dp!

Purple Star well done on 90x3 challenge I have the dvd but have never done it Blush Yes I remember Boobz and she was proper hardcore but I seem to remember she was very impressed by you when you both did that Bootcamp Grin

Roman I accidentally did week 2 legs today so maybe I will stick to week 2 also. Urgh those bear hop things were agony, I am sorry I tried hard but not sure I managed to stick to 2 inches from the floor. I have to say I am enjoying joel as a trainer Wink

I also watched Autumn's meal prep videos - bloody hell that is a lot of food for 1 day! How on earth could she have such a flat tummy with that sheer volume of food inside her Shock At the same time you could probably have the same amount of cals in just one takeaway meal. It would be expensive to eat that way if not living in america - guacamole and 6 slices of deli turkey, plus 7 sticks of jicama (whatever that is) was just the snack meal!

yumyumpoppycat · 10/10/2018 11:39

PS - plink how are you getting on? Hope your knee is on the mend.

PlinkPlink · 10/10/2018 14:36

Hey everyone,

Interesting diagnosis Reastie. Never heard of golf elbow before. How does it differ from tennis elbow? Is it from banging it or overuse? Sounds promising though. A new avenue to try.

I haven't seen Autumn's meal prep but i wouldn't be surprised at the amount. Her body must burn through calories like mad! Knee is getting there thanks Yum. I kind of want mad and suddenly dived into T25 when I know I shouldn't. I did a 3rd workout and my body was screaming a bit so I had some rest days. I always take it easy on those lunge squat progression things. My knee muscles just aren't strong enough to withstand it. The instability in the rest of my body just buggers them right up. So for a few days I've been feeling twinges when I go up the stairs. But it seems to have subsided now they're getting a bit stronger now Smile I'm due to do my 5th workout tonight. Plan is to do every other day. Much more manageable.

T25 Abs Workout.... oh my days!! What a punisher! Can already feel the benefits. Sore as f**k yesterday though

Theromanempire · 10/10/2018 17:01

Purple 96 push ups and 96 pull ups Shock wow, that is some workout that I think I will never try Grin

Reastie I am frustrated for you - so difficult when all the people who are supposed to diagnose and treat you providing conflicting information Sad I really hope you get to the bottom of it soon and get it sorted!

plink every other day does seem like a good idea. I think I remember the Alpha abs workout (although it has been a long time since I did it) and seem to remember it was difficult. As someone else has said, you will be surprised when you move to the Beta workouts that they are actually easier!!

I just do not have the patience or time to do the meal prep stuff that the fitness people seem to do. And yes, the expense must be fairly high Hmm I had a friend who started the Body Coach and said the cost of it was horrific as it is all steak and fancy stuff. I'm sticking with Team RH cos I can still eat chocolate and sweets and buy sandwiches from a shop if I want to Wink

Yum yes, the triple bears are hard although I do modify them so step them rather than jump them. I try to keep my knees 2 inches of the floor but they always start to creep up!

Am on Back and Biceps with HIIT later (rest day yesterday). Trying to decide whether to cram week 1 legs in at some point this week as it is a weights leg workout rather than the week 2 one which is all HIIT so not sure why I couldn't do them both??

In other news, my weight seems to be shifting again . After weeks of bobbing around the 2 stone loss, I lost 2lbs last week and then this weeks weigh ins so far are lower again so I am hopeful for another 2lbs this week. I am wondering if a couple of days off last week have done the trick in getting off this plateau - no idea if that is the case but I bloody enjoyed both days (one of them I was at a work event which always serves warm fresh scones with jam and clotted cream...I had 2 Grin)

PlinkPlink · 10/10/2018 21:01

I know what you me a Roman with the meal prep. It's the hardest part I think. I see some people on Instagram who do the most amazing meal prep but i can't do it. They go shopping and spend a day cooking and I just can't do it 😂😂 the organisation and time... maybe one day but it's not a priority for us right now.

Interestingly though, I've been tracking my food intake through MFP again. I've put on a few pounds again just through absentminded eating. BUT I'm doing it differently this time. Anyone tried tracking their macros instead of just calories? Paints a whole different picture. I'm totally amazed.

Theromanempire · 10/10/2018 22:05

plink the diet I've been doing since April looks at macros aswell as calories. The 3 rules are that you have to hit your daily calories, protein and fibre. I do struggle with the protein but I try as hard as I can!

OP posts:
PlinkPlink · 11/10/2018 00:33

Yes!!!!! That's exactly It!!

I was shocked at how little protein I was getting. Loads of carbs and quite a bit of fat, very little protein! I've now going to make more of a conscious effort to really get my protein up.

166g of protein is alot though Confused

Interesting about the fibre too... How do you find getting that one done?

Theromanempire · 11/10/2018 06:06

The diet I am doing gives me different calories/macros than MFP so they are less than 166g of protein Shock that is a lot!!

Mine currently is 2300 cals with 115g protein and 25g fibre.

In terms of protein, I use protein powder/protein porridge/skyr yoghurt and halo top Ice cream (which I cannot recommend enough - loads of delicious flavours and only around 160 - 180 calories for half the tub but you get 10g protein aswell!)

Fibre - I eat cereal and porridge plus the Fibre one range of cake bars are quite tasty and have 5g fibre for 90 calories.

I do try and get protein/fibre with proper food but use the above to top it up if I'm short on anything. A diet where I can sit and eat half a tub of Ice cream that tastes like a snickers bar is my ideal diet GrinWink

OP posts:
Reastie · 11/10/2018 06:41

I need to work on my protein so this is interesting. I definitely get enough carbs Grin and fibre I’m pretty good on but it’s protein I need to keep an eye on, especially as I have a limited diet anyway. I tend to eat seeds/nuts/yoghurt/cheese/milk/tofu/eggs/quinoa for my main protein sources but I’m thinking I should input into Mfp to see how much it adds up to out of interest. Problem is most of my stuff is home made which makes it really tediously long to input. I’d love to do the macro thing but this just puts me off [lazy]

yumyumpoppycat · 11/10/2018 08:20

Reastie you can save recipes you make all the time in MFP to make it quicker next time - even if you make some small adjustments to ingredients each time you make it at least you know roughly the macros. Apparently food labels can be off by 20% either way on cals so it wouldn't be much different than inputting a ready meal.

Roman your diet sounds so amazing. I am tempted but really dont want to spend any more on dieting as I have so many books it is embarrassing.

PlinkPlink · 11/10/2018 14:27

Well I'm gluten free (coeliac) so you'd think that getting less carbs would be easy. It isn't apparently 😂

Oh my, that does sound good! Protein ice cream? 😍😍 yes please! I'm gonna see if I can find some. Does Tesco do it? If so, that's on the online shop next time! 😂😂😂

I don't know why I've found it so hard... I love chicken, turkey, beef, salmon, cod... just got to get it in at every meal. I used an online macronutrient calculator. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? 😂 but I have less calories... way less... like 1600 as I'm trying to get rid of these last few stubborn pounds.

My mum was gobsmacked the other day when I told her alot of veg has carbs 😂😂😂

Agree with Yum here about the recipes too. So easy to do. I've got loads on there 😂 about 3 different versions of Bolognese sauce 😂

Reastie · 11/10/2018 14:53

Plink I’m gluten free too!!

I’ve tried inputting recipes to mfp but it took me ages —I’m probably just impatient—

Theromanempire · 11/10/2018 15:14

Yes, Halo Top is available at Tesco (that is the best shop to get it from). Best flavours (in my opinion) are Cookie dough, Candy Bar (that is the fake Snickers one) and Birthday Cake but they are all delicious! Or, Asda do Breyers which is similar (and often on sale) and the best flavour by far is Summer Berrys which is raspberry icecream with chocolate swirl!

The diet I am on does give you more calories than MFP sets you - the main thought process is that MFP sets it far too low and you end up binging eventually as you are too hungry. So you get more calories which prevents the binge eating but it is supposed to be counteracted with the requirement to do 15k steps per day. However, I have not once hit 15k steps per day and don't even try (and probably average 5k a day if that) and have lost nearly 2 and a half stone Blush But I do not binge - I just have not yet felt the need so there must be something in the science behind it. I have planned for 'days off' every month or so but not uncontrollable binges where I have to eat everything in sight Grin As the others on this thread know, I am a total convert of this diet Grin
