Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

I have never been to Teneriffe as an adult so I am looking forward to it great. We did go to Lanzarote earlier this year and got stranded there for 5 extra days due to storm Emma.
6lbs gained that hols... yikes!! This is why I need exercise !!

Do your follow some kind of calendar for your workouts Reastie?

Reastie · 17/09/2018 15:28

Not really porridge. I used to but I have various injuries (I feel like I moan on and on about them so won’t dwell!) so I can no longer work through B.B. programs as I’m limited in what I do. My current rough weekly schedule is one run, one body attack, one spin, and two others depending on what I fancy to include a strength or yoga non cardio workout. I mix it up with the body attack and spin by doing different workouts on LMOD within the genre so hopefully my body doesn’t get too used to it. I used to be a bit obsessed with pushing myself really hard and never feeling I was fit enough or good enough and couod never be as good as they were on the DVD’s but I’m trying to accept that it’s fine to work hard but not have to be as good as they are in the videos!

PlinkPlink · 17/09/2018 15:33

ShockShockShock

I had no idea there was a BBody thread!!! Yay!! How exciting!!

Hello fellow BBody lovers!!

I've done bits of T25 and Insanity.

Alot harder to do it now with a LO but I'm looking forward to getting back into it.

Anyone tried Liift4 yet? Opinions?

Theromanempire · 17/09/2018 17:07

porridge we missed out the Booty and Cardio Flow each week - figured that the Legs workout was sufficient for my bum aswell as a lot of the exercises cross over and I just didn't like the Cardio Flow one Grin Enjoy Tenerife - we went this summer (I love the Canaries!) 2 weeks all inclusive and I put on 5lbs Blush but it dropped off quickly when I got back home and started dieting again!

Plink welcome to the thread Smile I am in week 7 of Liift4 now - absolutely love it!! It's like someone created my ideal workout programme - lots of weights, limited but effective cardio and the lovely lovely Joel!! Honestly, I cannot recommend it enough Wink

To whoever asked about weights - we don't really have a lot to choose from so I guess we aren't getting the full effect of Liift. DH uses 7.5kg for most things (which are the heaviest dumbbells we have) and complains that they aren't heavy enough for some stuff. We then have a selection between 1-5kg so I mix and match depending on the exercise. We keep pondering about buying some more and I do love those ones that you change the weights on but I cannot justify the expense Sad

OP posts:
PlinkPlink · 17/09/2018 17:45

Oh yes!!! That sounds perfect.

I hate cardio. Really drag myself to do it. But have always loved weights!! Sounds like the right one for me!! Grin

Porridgeprincess · 18/09/2018 09:30

Reastie, sounds like you have a great weekly plan. Rounded!!

That is so funny that you skipped booty each week. I did the first leg day today (day5) and it was good, really old school squats, sumos, curtseys... surely those are for your ass as well ? Definite cross over. I know big asses are all the rage now, but I don't like seeing any part of me getting bigger!!

Are the changeable weights the bowflex ones? They cost a bomb. I would love them too. So tidy!!

Hi Pink. i will be starting Lift4 on October 1st when its on general BOD release if you fancy an accountability buddy?

PlinkPlink · 18/09/2018 12:12

Hi porridge Smile

I would love to but I'm not on BOD anymore Sad

I just have Insanity and T25 on disc. I did love BOD when I was on it. I did 21DF for a bit and TH10MW just to ease back into it after pregnancy.

Sadly with my being a SAHM I don't get much of an income so it's not in my budget at the mo. Desperate to get back on it though Grin

Porridgeprincess · 18/09/2018 14:23

Such a pity as it is great. I know it may not be BOD but there is a fantastic site with all free workouts called hasfit.com. You can choose type, length, difficulty level etc and it is quality.

PlinkPlink · 18/09/2018 16:09

Oh wow really? I'll check that one out definitely! Thank you so much.

Does anyone drink the Shakeology? I've wanted it for ages and I know it's finally available in the UK. But for those of us who want a cheaper alternative, is there anything anyone would recommend?

I was looking at the Vega Protein shakes? Smile

Porridgeprincess · 18/09/2018 16:36

I tasted shakeology before and it was lovely. I got a few sachets when I ordered my insanity boxset. I don't think i am a shakes person though to be fair but looking into shakeology more, it does seem like a very good product but they beachbody people sell it too hard. Do you want it as a meal replacement ?

PlinkPlink · 18/09/2018 17:16

Yeah mainly for days when I'm super busy and don't have time to make breakfast.

I don't want to put a bunch of crap in my body though so Shakeology looked pretty good. They do sell it pretty hard 😂 but it's like £90 for 30 sachets and I couldn't justify it 😂

Can't do too much meal replacement as I'm still BFing.

Reastie · 18/09/2018 19:40

Hi plink, welcome.

Ohh I’m going to check out hasfit too!thanks porridge for recommendation.

How much is bod per month? LMOD is just under £10a month, interesting to see how it compares in price. Plink if you can’t afford bbod might be worth trying les mills on demand if it’s cheaper, they often do free trial offer (think I got a month). I love it!

Planning different spin tomorrow on LMOD. Have been doing their rpm classes but they’ve just started a new type of bike release called something like sprint. Will be interesting to see how it compares. I need a new bike though so if anyone has a recommendation for a mountain/road combi type of bike would love recommendations. Want a decent one but not something hugely supersonic or expensive.

PlinkPlink · 18/09/2018 19:57

Thanks Reastie Grin

BOD is £30 a month. Only £1 a day but when you consider I've only got £82.80 coming in a month and that's for the LO, it's doesn't fit into my budget 😂

Les Mills? I'm intrigued... I've heard of it but have no idea what it entails?

yumyumpoppycat · 18/09/2018 21:03

Plink if you sign up for the year it works out cheaper at about £9 a month - is there anyone who might get you a year sub as a Christmas present? To be honest though you might be able to find enough free stuff to add some variety to the sets you already have. I defo would not bother with shakeology if you are on a budget.

Porridge I will be starting LIIFT when it comes to basic BBOD.

Reastie I am so impressed that you do spin workouts - they are killer!

Roman hopefully there might be an offer on weights closer to Christmas - one more decent rubber set might be better to use than clanky adjustable ones anyway.

Hope your feeling better Purple - I did 8x8 as I really didn't feel like exercising or 30 mins and it made a good change from clean week ones.

Theromanempire · 19/09/2018 07:04

plink I paid for an annual subscription for BOD which was £100 (I ended up paying an additional £40 to get Liift early but not sure I would do that again now I understand how it works!) It would be a perfect Christmas gift for you if people wanted to club together etc?

reastie I am so impressed that you do spinning workouts by yourself - I would so slack off in that situation Wink when I did them at the gym, I used to pretend to turn the resistance knob and then just pretend that the pedals were harder to turn Blush

So, did Legs weights and HIIT yesterday in Shred phase...omg!! It was probably the hardest workout so far - 9 different leg weights exercises each repeated 3 x 10 reps followed by 3 HIIT exercises for 30 seconds each repeated 3 times. My legs were literally shaking by the end and I could not breathe - but felt great afterwards and loved it Grin

Also, the KFC seems to have done the trick in shifting me off my plateau - I am 3lbs down this week Smile However, I have got a couple of meals out in the next week which is going to mess things up - the only way to stay consistent is to have no social life whatsoever Sad I think it would work with one cheat meal a month but I have had that already with my KFC. However, I am not going to drink so will save some calories Hmm

PlinkPlink · 19/09/2018 08:28

Ah thanks Yumyum and Roman Smile

I did have 3 months last year of BOD but it just wasn't realistic with my LO. He was a feeding monster and quite clingy. If I wasn't there after half an hour he'd cry his eyes out. Not fun trying to workout when that was happening.

I'm also interested in 25MHC but have to admit, I'm a Shaun T gal at heart. I swear at the evil man when I'm doing it but it's a love-hate relationship 😂😂

Porridgeprincess · 19/09/2018 11:54

I did a quick review of what is in Cardio Flow and I think I might like it so will give that a go this evening. Legs are a little but not majorly sore after legs yesterday.

I would find it really hard to justify the shakeology prices as well, esp as that is a monthly cost if you have it daily. YOUR DAILY DOSE OF DENSE SUPERFOOD NUTRITION lol

Reastie no bike recs from me, but sprints sound like a grueller!!

Yumyumpoppycat..that is great... I hope to begin Oct 1 . It will get my mind back on track as soon as back from hols. Woop woop!

Although having read theromans review of that shred workout there, I am a little scared !!

Weightsandmeasures · 19/09/2018 12:04

Can I join? Week 3 of Insanity Max but not losing any weight. I've done Insanity and Insanity Max in the past to keep fit and I loved them, despite them being pretty tough going.

Because of life circumstances I've put on 1.5 stones over the past year. I want to lose the excess weight.

I don't follow the diet but try to eat around 1500 or less calories a day. Still no luck. I even thought my scale was broken. I bought a new one but the readings are the same. Confused

Purpleraindeer · 19/09/2018 20:12

Hello! It’s so nice for there to be lots of posts on here again. Welcome plink!

Ive been exercising but not posting. Except for yesterday when I was late so missed my workout slot. Did a Joel double (or maybe 1.5 as one of the workouts was only 18mins) to make up for it today. I’ve still got my cold though Sad

No idea on a bike reastie. Sorry. I’ve got a boardman road bike which I got years ago through the cycle to work scheme. It is too scary and fast for me though so I don’t use it much.

I’m just accumulating dumbbells at home now, whoever asked re weights. I mostly use 8kg except for biceps and triceps when I use 4kg. Am going to ask for some new weights for bday. 10kg or 12kg? Gulp. Fitness superstore has nice cheapish ones. Will definitely be getting bbod for bday too and starting lift.
No way would I use shakeology. It is sooooo expensive. I feel sure there is a cheaper way to supplement than that.
Have a good evening all.

PlinkPlink · 19/09/2018 20:29

Thanks for the welcome Reindeer.

I tried Unico for a shake. I got the cinnamon bun flavour (Amazing but so sweet - ideal for a sweet tooth like mine). International shipping on that costs a freaking bomb. So for that reason I wouldnt recommend it.

I saw Vega Protein ones in H&B... My body starts to reject whey after a while... makes me go all bloaty and Vega is a vegan one so I thought I might give that a go.

I also tried Women's Best Pre Workout drink and BCAA Aminos. Both were nice and both gave me a little boost for my workouts which was lovely. They just helped me push past that wall Grin

I'll let you guys know about the Vega Protein one when I get it Smile

Reastie · 19/09/2018 20:48

Thermo that liift workout sounds like one I’d love to hate! Love that leg tiredness at the end of a good leg workout (not during though!)

Plink I’ve done 22HC and considering how short it is it’s v good. I find Tony a bit cheesy and annoying at times but I can put up with him for 22 minutes! I like that it doesn’t have —The annoying— Dreya Webber in it. FYI it has a separate abs workout which is about 10 mins long and from memory the programme is you do the abs workout after the cardio workout about 3 times a week (it’s been a while so I’m hazy on details) so it’s only 22 minutes half the time, otherwise it’s more like half an hour or so. Have you done t25?

Weights I’ve found when doing insanity I’ve lost very little weight initially. I think it turns my body into shock and it holds on to weight more but I do notice a lot more tone and cardio fitness and then after a month or so an dmy body has worked out I’m not trying to kill it with insanity I then have had loses. Hopefully a bit longer and it’ll start happening although 1500 cals isn’t much, your body might be in shock? Go by clothes and the feel of how you are as you may have lost fat but not have lost weight iykwim.

So can I have bonus ‘trying hard’ points for today please? Set up bike indoors for the sprint spin workout. Got on bike and chain had come off wheel and being the unpractical person I was can’t put it back again. Put bike back outside and went to get dhs to go for a cycle on the roads instead. Only have 30 minutes until have to get ready for work so all a hurry. Dh had moved his bike into the other shed which involves much moving of everything to get it out from the back corner. Get it out, get helmet out only to find helmet broke! So no spin or no cycle. Running out of time and feeling peeved (people know you don’t get in the way of reastie and her workouts!) as I couldn’t do BA or a run as had left breakfast too late. Did 30 minute Body Balance Strength (like a combo of yoga and Pilates) which felt really hard (I mist be out of practice!) so at least I did something but I wanted to do spin . I really really need to sort out a new bike...

PlinkPlink · 19/09/2018 21:31

body has worked out I’m not trying to kill it with insanity 😂😂😂

I felt like I was dying the first 2 weeks of insanity. Madness... but the rush after. Oh my days 😂

I knew about TH before I knew about BB. A YouTuber ended up doing one of his programmes so I ended up watching some of his YT vids. He's a right nutter Grin oh I don't know who this Dreya is... I must have a look 😂

Well done for trying this morning with the bikes! That's perseverance! I would have given up after DH not being able to get his bike out 😂

yumyumpoppycat · 19/09/2018 22:50

Welcome weights! I think Reastie is right - your body needs to get used to insanity max 30 before the weight starts to come off. A couple of the joe wickes type trainers who use HIIT for their results don't recommend weighing scales at all. I think starting a new exercise programme can cause water retention which can obscure initial fat loss.

Plink I have a love hate relationship with insanity max 30 - I am way too unfit to do it right now but you are so right about feeling amazing after when the workout is done. I quite like 22 hard core.

Reastie I would have given up! Well done on getting a workout done - triple brownie points Grin

Porridge we are on for October Grin I am a bit scared too!

Purple sorry you are still poorly. I had a cold recently - totally sucks having a cold when it's still hot.

I did the stretch workout from clean week today - even that is tough for me right now!

Porridgeprincess · 21/09/2018 15:15

My weight never budged until later on in the insanity programmes. Just keep at it and eating well (1500 sounds a bit low, how are your energy levels) and it should pay off.

Tomorrow will me my last BOD for a week. I think i might do something like Ripsanity or maybe the sample Lift4 one thats on it. Something that I will get some afterburn from!!

PlinkPlink · 21/09/2018 15:57

Have you guys got the Shaun T app? It's got a bunch of workouts and stuff in there that look really good.

A while back they did Shaun Week too. I think I've still got the email. I really wanted to give it a try but I wasn't working out at that point. Just trying to get my weight down after pregnancy first.

I've spent a month or two not doing anything again (after doing about 5 weeks of T25). I can't seem to commit past 4 or 5 weeks. And then I beat myself up every time for failing to finish a programme.

But I'm giving it another go tonight. Mainly because my joints are so stiff since I stopped. I'm going to start T25 tonight and finish the programme this time. Even if it means doing it every other day instead of every day.

I'm also going to be using the 21 day fix tubs for my food. And trying to get 2 litres of water in me a day.

Any want to be accountabili-buddies? 😂😂 anyone got any tips on how to stay the course? I find I get bored after 4 weeks 😂
