Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

Legs almost back to normal. Phew. Went for a run this am - bailed a bit early as legs still felt a bit tired and I tripped up (usually a sign of tiredness). Was nice being able to go for a run and not have to find a 2hr slot in the day. And is a lovely sunny morning so that is always nice.

That is fab on the weight roman. Your Xmas goal is definitely achievable

Well done on the turbo reastie. You have officially now done more training on your turbo than I did on mine!

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 23/07/2018 17:41

Urgh, it is so hot! How is everyone coping with workouts? Did a spin at home on turbo on Saturday and sweated buckets. Yesterday did a strength workout devised by physio and today went for a gentle run but couldn’t go until after 10am as had to wait to drop dd at a club thing and it was ridiculously hot already so had to take it really slowly and got so horribly hot and sweaty. Tomorrow will likely be a rest day as busy unless I get up early enough to do a cheeky quick express something first thing.

Purple so what’s the next challenge then?!

Purpleraindeer · 24/07/2018 21:24

It’s roasting here! Im also hot and sweaty.
Did max out cardio last night and got super hot but actually really enjoyed it. Tonight - max out Power which was grim. I just kept stopping. I really struggled. I’m hoping to workout tomorrow and thurs too with rest day on fri but that might be temperature dependent.
Not sure on next challenge. Might just try to get my 10k time down. I’ll have to do some ‘speed training’ gulp.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 26/07/2018 18:26

Was up at 5:30 this morning to do a quick 30 minute spin workout on LMOD. Glad I did it early as so hot today I’m seriously flagging. It’s just so so hot! Really struggling in the heat. I’ve just got out of a cold bath and I’m already starting to sweat again Blush

Purpleraindeer · 26/07/2018 19:23

EArly is the only way reastie. I didn’t work out tonight. I was in London today and it was 35c. I feel I’ve sweated enough!

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 28/07/2018 19:45

Wore my new garmin watch for first time today. It’s got a hr monitor in the watch but I got the optional chest strap too as I’ve found in past wrist hr wasn’t v accurate. Excitingly it seemed a lot more accurate than my old Fitbit but I’m going to try the chest strap on to see. Weirdly it got my lowest hr viathe wrist today as being 40. I know I can get readings in the 50s but I’d be very surprised if it ever went down to 40. Upper hr seems relatively accurate though. Looking forward to seeing how the app is different from polar and hoping there are more stats. It gave me a vo2 max (I think that’s what it’s called of 42 which when I looked it up seems really good so I’m hoping that was accurate so I can feel good about myself! —it probably isn’t—

Did a run this morning, just under 5k. Was lovely and breezy and went quite fast for me but was annoyingly hindered by stitch, grr. Hope you’re all enjoying working out in less heat.

Purpleraindeer · 01/08/2018 10:33

Heart rate in the 40s reastie? Wow. Mine never gets below 60.
On hols at the mo. No proper WiFi and the only workouts I can do from secret site are a few t25s. The others don’t work Sad. Has been a bit of a shock as I always think t25 is easy as the cardio is a lot easier than max30 but overall I’m finding them quite tough going - did the beta abs one today and it was hard. Anyway - I need them as I’m eating non stop holiday food. Yum. Hope you’re all well

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 01/08/2018 16:29

Hope you’re enjoying your holiday purple, glad you’re managing to squeeze in workouts, I remember t25 being challenging but agree I think max30 was a different level, maybe you’d got used to max30 so shaking it up is good.

Did ba on LMOD today which was good, enjoyed it. Going to try a spin in the morning if I have time but taking dd to ikea to get playroom furniture. Physio yesterday who has pumped up my toning exercises to make them harder.

Purple my resting hr with chest strap (so I know it’s accurate) can often be in the 50s but I’ve never seen it in the 40s before! I’m not sure if it’s wrong or if I do have a lower than I realised hr. new watch can be annoying though as it’ll buzz at me to move even when I’m wandering around the house moving!

Theromanempire · 02/08/2018 08:43

Hello, I'm back! Have had a fabulous 2 weeks in the sun but failed miserably on the exercise and eating front Blush Blush All good intentions to go for a long walk in the morning before breakfast/use the gym went after about 3 days (not helped by DH hurting his back badly so he couldn't come with me) and the food was too good to not keep eating crap Confused

Anyway, first weigh in this morning for 2 weeks and I have only put on 5lbs which I don't think is too bad Grin On holiday I kept thinking of a number that would be 'worst case scenario' and it was at least 4lbs heavier than that so I am ok with it. Back on Team RH today including becoming tee-total again Sad

In terms of exercise, I am going to start the Liift4 programme on Saturday (Joel from CDF's new programme) - it is only 4 days a week and the workouts are between 30-40 minutes so a complete change from 80DO. The other days you either rest or do something gentle like a walk/yoga/stretching. I am a bit cynical as I am not sure how it can work with so little actual hardcore exercise but am going to give it a try.

Am going to go an catch up with all your posts now - hope you are all ok Smile

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 07/08/2018 15:58

Hi, hope you are all still ok?

So I got back on the Team RH wagon on Thursday so am now 5 days in and my weight has got below where it was prior to my hols (the weight I plateaued on for about 3 weeks Confused). So I am happy - much quicker than I expected and hopefully I can get below 14 stone in the next week or so!

I have done the first 2 of the Liift4 workouts so far - they are so my type of workouts (i.e. more weightlifting and less cardio Grin) so I have enjoyed them. However, as the cardio is very limited, I can foresee that I will lose my cardio fitness over the 8 week programme so even though he recommends that you only do gentle exercise like walking or stretching on the 3 rest days each week I feel that I need to do some cardio workouts like Speed 2.0 or HIIT workouts.

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 10/08/2018 17:04

Where have you all gone???

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 10/08/2018 17:21

I’m here! I’ve just been quiet as I’ve been on hols. I’ve been exercising whilst I’ve been away - a bit of t25 and some running. I’ve got that post hol feeling where I just want to drink water and eat salad after a holiday of wine and heavy meals. I think I’m going to start back with 21dfx which is very effective for me. Also considering a new ‘challenge’ race or event or something. I can’t really decide what. I will need to get googling I think.

Are the lift4 workouts on the secret site roman? How long are they? I found I lost cardio fitness when I did p90x3 but I quite like getting strong and then switching it up and focussing on cardio for a while. That’s great about your holiday weight too - I guess it was just water?

Hope poppy and reastie are about somwhere. Come back and say hi Smile

Reastie · 10/08/2018 19:19

I’m here too! Sorry, been a bit down recently (coming off my anti depressant medication due to ttc and it’s causing me various side effects. Ttc is temporarily on hold, I’m really scared about it and thinking of changing my mind) but have been working out. General pattern which was ok’ed by physio is 1 30 min run, 1 30 min spin, 1 45 min ba workout, 1 cheeky quick 20 min run (whilst dd has piano lesson so time is limited but making use of time!) and one free choice (this week it was step). Also doing some strength exercises from physio but they’re only mini circuits that take maybe 10 mins, have one for arms/upper, one for lower and one for core and am doing them after workouts.

Purple I love how you can’t wait to the back to healthy eating and drinking after holiday, for me it has the opposite effect and I just get used tonrubbish and it becomes habit!

Thermo sounds like you’re doing really well and the lift workouts sound great. I agree that I like strength stuff but it does give me a different type of fitness feeling than cardio, I used to like alternating programmes to get cardio fit then strength etc too to vary things.

Theromanempire · 10/08/2018 20:39

Sorry for chasing you all - I was just getting lonely 😳

reastie sorry you are feeling down Sad hope it all settles down soon. Ttc is a very scary time whether it's your first, second or whatever so I totally understand your feelings on that.

purple welcome back from your hols. I too always crave good stuff and no alcohol after 14 solid days of drinking when I get back.

The Liift workouts are on the secret site - the most recent ones added. Have only managed 3 so far (should have done 4 by now) so need to do 5 next week to get back on track. I am enjoying them immensely so far and Joel is an excellent instructor! He explains the exercise and proper form really well and is just very engaging and not full of motivational bullshit like the others

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 12/08/2018 17:52

Sorry to hear you’re feeling low reastie. Does the exercise help? I hope so - it sounds like you have a good routine. I personally found ttc the most stressful time and found the constant thinking about it exhausting.

Roman you got me so interested in Liift I tried the first one. Omg. My arms are jelly now, that was hard! I also can’t walk properly after doing dirty 30 yesterday and doing the one legged squats with a bigger weight. It is great to get back to doing some weights though. Smile. I think I’m going to carry on with liift - I really liked it. I am a week behind you, so you can tell me what is coming.

Reastie · 12/08/2018 19:05

I’m envious of the liift as I know I’d like it if I could do it.

Doing a lot of very short workouts atm to squeeze it in but wondering if it’s at the detriment of fitness Confused .

Purple exercise does help I think, I’m trying to keep it up as much as I can but I’m feeling very lethargic and heavy iykwim.

Did spin today with my bike inside on the turbo but my bike is so rubbish I can only get 3 gears out of it so it’s limiting progress but despite that I’m still dripping in sweat by the end!

Reastie · 12/08/2018 19:06

Oh, was reading an article in new scientist (an ancient copy from January) and it was saying Doms is where the muscles in your body have tiny little rips from exercise then when it renews and fixes itself it makes the muscle bigger and stronger, so embrace the Doms as it’s your muscles getting better!

Theromanempire · 12/08/2018 21:18

purple yay, a Liift buddy Smile I have done 5 workouts now...did week 1 legs yesterday...OMG!!!!! I was completely wiped by the end and the DOMS today are the worst I have had in a very long time! Still enjoyed it though Grin I truly ❤ Joel!

reastie sorry you can't do Liift...keep doing what you do and hopefully you will be able to get back to strength training soon. You need to give yourself credit for what you do as most people with arm injuries would just quit exercise altogether!

Everytime I move now and the DOMS kick in my quads, I am going to be positive and think it's just my muscles repairing themselves and getting stronger 😂😂

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 13/08/2018 09:13

Hahahhahhahaha I was not embracing the doms when I was struggling to get out of the car this morning! Amazingly my arms are mostly ok despite Joel’s punishing tricep routine yesterday. I am still suffering from 21 Dfx 2 days ago. I am now a bit Shock at the thought of the lift legs workout. Rest day today though. Yay!

Reastie · 13/08/2018 15:01

So I got jealous of all the liift talk and thought I’d give it a go with the leg workout. It was a really good workout! I really enjoyed the hiit bit at the end and it felt like it was more of a good all rounder with the mini round of abs at the end. Joel was a good instructor and not annoying but the man at the front doing the moves I did get a bit annoyed by. I noticed he was doing a really deep squat with bum lower than knees which the physio has told me not to do as bad form and noticed Joel made a comment to him about only going to knee level and he cooorectdd his form and I felt a bit smug that I must be good on form to notice (I’ve clearly done too many workouts!). Made me think though, I often copy form of these people, are they actually doing the right form when they aren’t being watched by the instructor.

Couldn’t do heavy weights as hurts my shoulder but did a small weight and did a few extra reps or adapted to make it harder when needed.

Theromanempire · 13/08/2018 17:45

Yay, 2 Liift buddies Wink Glad you both enjoyed the workouts you have done.

Reastie Joel is excellent at correcting form with his cast members which is good. I also like that he doesn't do the workouts himself so he can do that as with 80DO, whilst I loved it, Autumn always seemed to be focused on ensuring she did the same reps as everyone else/as heavy weights as everyone else rather then ensuring that the cast were doing it correctly! The combination of weights and Hiit with a quick core workout works really well. I have definitely watched one of the Legs workouts (I think it might be week 4) which has no weights and is just pure Hiit so you may be able to do that one aswell.

Purple if you thought week 1 triceps was bad, wait till week 2. There is an exercise in there that I have never done before in any workout but is incredibly effective for your triceps! As I said to DH (who did his first Joel workout yesterday - he has jumped straight into week 2 to work out with me as he was incapacitated last week), if Joel tells you that you definitely need lighter weights for a particular move, then listen to him! DH tried to do this particular move with his heavy weights and had to give in after about 3 reps Grin

As of todays weigh in, I am 1lb of my 2 stone mark Smile I feel like I have had a massive shift in my size since my holiday and I have no idea why - it is like I have had a massive 'whoosh'. My clothes are suddenly too big for me and people are commenting on it a lot now Smile Nearly halfway to target...

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 15/08/2018 20:32

So disaster...the Liift videos have been removed Sad

As I am enjoying it so much and want to see it through to the end, I have succumbed and bought BOD. Unfortunately the Liift programme is only on VIP access so it has cost a further £40 to get access to it! It better be worth it!!!!

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 15/08/2018 20:39

Ooh that’s fab roman. It’s good to know you’re losing weight but even better when everyone else realises it and compliments you on it! Grin

Weirdly when I went on the secret site the album with the liift work outs was showing as 21 videos but there were only 4 there. So had to do week 2 tricep/chest. Felt like hard work especially as I did back/biceps last night. Ow. I hope the other workouts will be back on there tomorrow otherwise I’ll have buff biceps and triceps and the rest of me will be all weedy Smile

Purpleraindeer · 15/08/2018 20:45

Oh no. I’ve just seen your post roman. Argh. Might I have to actually buy it??!!

Theromanempire · 19/08/2018 21:45

purple have you succumbed and bought BOD?? I'm glad I did as I really want to continue with Liift!

Did Chest/triceps from week 3 today - the Hiit part was really hard Confused 1 minute of twisting squat jumps is very hard on the legs so I ended up modifying each time.

Had an epiphany today about what to do on the rest days (apart from rest obviously 😆). You are supposed to do gentle, non impact/non weights stuff and I was struggling to think of any workouts that fit into that bracket particularly as my Clubbercise classes have stopped till September. Then I realised I could do the cardio workouts I enjoy (such as speed 2.0 and cardio core from 80DO) but totally low impact. Reckon that will fit the bill 😉

Hope you're all ok.
