Run Every Day February - who’s with me?

Myview2 · 01/02/2018 09:19

I got off to a bit of a slow start in January so have decided to embark on RED February instead (the shorter month makes me feel better about it!)

The plan is to run everyday but no pressure on speed or distance and some days it may well be a quick dash around the block as long as I get out there.

Having survived dry January (apart from one teensy glass of wine in the middle so maybe damp January) I have decided I will also give up sweets, chocolate, cake, ice-cream etc. I will allow myself savoury rubbish like crisps etc as I don’t tend to eat a lot of them anyway but sweet things are my weakness and I’ve been succumbing all too often!

So who is with me on the journey? We can all spur each other on.

Great stuff Ellie.

I planned a longer run today but I left it late and felt cold so wimped out and did 2.5km but as that is entirely within my self imposed rules of the game that’s ok! I can worry about longer runs when it comes to madness March running Confused

2.5km down to the kids class this morning which involved some sprints with my children in fireman’s lift position-I’m glad it wasn’t a longer run or I wouldn’t have managed!

Only 4 runs left now-yay!

I haven't managed today due to dc's birthday and I'm craving a run!
What's everyone planning for March?

elliejjtiny · 25/02/2018 00:19

17 laps done yesterday, in 3 stages because I have a streaming cold and feel rubbish. 18 laps today, all in one go but walked bits of it. Took 11 and 9 year old with me today, while I was doing my 18 laps my 9 year old effortlessly ran 35 laps and my 11 year old ran 30 laps with a lot more panting, stopping and starting. They are keen to carry on and try and beat their PB's tomorrow.

Brilliant to have the children involved with the challenge Ellie. I hope you had some well deserved cake after all your running ASDWife.

I had my longest run of February today of 6.8km. I hoped it might have been longer but I’ll need to find some more streets to add on for next time. It’s a gorgeous day here today, it was almost a pleasure!

I missed January AND February!
Anyone up for March?!

Myview2 · 25/02/2018 19:58

Welcome SureIusedtobetaller (great name, me too!)

I will be sticking with this in March, just having a think about what exactly I want to commit myself too. I’ve quite enjoyed this wee challenge and am looking forward to the next one. A March challenge may warrant a new thread 🤓

I prob won’t run every day, but something every day...

theredjellybean · 25/02/2018 20:49

I fell off the wagon... Going to try again in March as also giving up alcohol.
But I can't run every day as a leg injury flares up, so going to run five days and do abdominal work out thingy off the Internet on three, so one day double whammy.
I want my middle flab toned up...

elliejjtiny · 25/02/2018 22:00

19 laps done for me, ds1 did 32 and ds2 did 40. They are both encouraging me to keep going which is nice.

Baubletrouble43 · 25/02/2018 22:04

Damn I wish I had seen this at the start of the Month!!

Myview2 · 26/02/2018 07:43

Well done Ellie, a bit of healthy family competition is spurring you all on!

Not to worry BaubleTrouble, it will soon be March and we can start all over again Wink

That’s Day 25 done just as the snow was coming on!

*note to self:next time you get a Run Every Day notion in your head pick Summer time.

OP posts:
Myview2 · 26/02/2018 12:52

Day 26 even! I’m so keen I added on an extra day.

OP posts:
Asdwife · 27/02/2018 10:47

I had dc's birthday off then managed 3k and 7.5k. Not sure about today as it's snowing heavily here!
I'd like to keep something going during March but I have found every day pretty hard, mainly due to childcare.

Myview2 · 27/02/2018 10:48

Very almost there! Day 27 is done, the run was fine-persuading myself to leave the warmth was difficult. I’ve realised that if I can do 4km tomorrow then I’ll have recorded 100km for the month-whoop! Snow is forecast so I may need to find a treadmill for that. How are you all doing, we are soooooo close.....

Myview2 · 27/02/2018 11:23

I think we crossed posts ASDwife, keeping the good distances going there I see.

I don’t think there should be any pressure to go everyday, I have found that’s helped me as I seem to be an all or nothing sort of girl and by running everyday day I don’t need to have my internal dilemma of talking myself out of it as my expectation is I will go! Not for everyone though, I am lucky in that I often work from home so can squeeze in a run when the kids are at school.

I’m still giving some thought to the March challenge-any ideas what you will do?

OP posts:
Asdwife · 27/02/2018 12:51

Yes I'm the same, all or nothing! If I had someone to just pop in for 20 mins every day to watch little ones I could definitely do it, injuries aside.
I suppose I could always run around my garden! There was also the running on lunch break idea which I only managed once.
Maybe I could do some form of exercise every day, including stuff at home using workout videos etc.

elliejjtiny · 27/02/2018 22:06

20 laps done yesterday and 21 today. One of my knees is hurting, I hope I haven't damaged it.

Myview2 · 28/02/2018 21:53

Well yeehah! RED February is over and I ran everyday, the challenge is over 😁 I really did not anticipate how this would finish. We have had loads of snow, the schools were closed today (and tomorrow), there is ice beneath the snow and people are falling left, right and centre. This scuppered all ambitions of outdoor running today and then just to add in an extra spanner in the works all the gyms closed so there were no treadmills either.

So folks I finished my RED February challenge by running around my house like a woman possessed for 30 minutes! I ran up and down the stairs 60 times and through the rooms too. The end result according to Fitbit was 4.4km which just tipped me over the 100km mark for the month-whoop whoop!

I need to give some thought about March, I was raring to do another RED month but I don’t really fancy running around my house like a nutter for the next few days so I will see what the weather brings and go from there.

I hope you are all staying safe and cosy in this weather.

Asdwife · 28/02/2018 21:59

That's hilarious myview! Well done on your incredible 28 day streak! You must be the only one who made it every single day, I admire your grit!
The snow isn't deep or slippy here so I ran 5k in -5 degrees!! Probably my proudest running moment actually. I'm still defrosting now.

Myview2 · 28/02/2018 22:19

5k in -5!!Shock You are my hero!

Right sod this rubbish weather, I need a new challenge and I’m setting up a March thread! Come join me one and all Smile

elliejjtiny · 01/03/2018 08:07

Well done everyone. I did my 22 laps yesterday, accompanied by 11 year old ds1 who did 22, 9 year old ds2 who did 53 and 7 year old ds3 who lost count half way but we think he did 35. I'll get my calculated out and work out how far I ran this month.

elliejjtiny · 01/03/2018 08:19

Update, it was 10k round the car park plus the 2 times I ran from one end of our local hospital to the other and back again.

Asdwife · 01/03/2018 09:09

Bloody brilliant Ellie! Off to find the March thread now...
