Run Every Day February - who’s with me?

Myview2 · 01/02/2018 09:19

I got off to a bit of a slow start in January so have decided to embark on RED February instead (the shorter month makes me feel better about it!)

The plan is to run everyday but no pressure on speed or distance and some days it may well be a quick dash around the block as long as I get out there.

Having survived dry January (apart from one teensy glass of wine in the middle so maybe damp January) I have decided I will also give up sweets, chocolate, cake, ice-cream etc. I will allow myself savoury rubbish like crisps etc as I don’t tend to eat a lot of them anyway but sweet things are my weakness and I’ve been succumbing all too often!

So who is with me on the journey? We can all spur each other on.

hi ads glad to hear your on the mend.
Well done ellie you are doing great.
I went out straight form dropping ds at school and did 5.5K. It was cold and windy and sleety, and it felt like hard going tbh, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it was my fastest run of that route yet! I must have been encouraged by the vile weather to get back home as soon as possible!
Had a nice hot shower and now off to the cinema with older dc who are on half term this week. (ds is off next week)
What has everyone got planned for today?

Myview2 · 13/02/2018 13:38

Brilliant Applelolly, the awful weather must have spurred you on!

Welcome back ASDwife, good to hear you are getting back to full heath.

Another PB Ellie-fab stuff!

I’ve just done 5.1km, a new route to a new park that I had to extend slightly to get to the 5k mark (extended slightly too much!) I wasn’t feeling it this morning but feel fantastic now it’s over 😆

Anyone else running today?

elliejjtiny · 13/02/2018 21:27

9 laps done. Felt like my lungs were about to explode by the end but I ran all the way for the first time!

Myview2 · 14/02/2018 08:57

Go Ellie-even further and running all the way. You are doing so well!

That’s us at the halfway point folks-50% of RED February completed-whoop!

The kids are off today so I had to squeeze it in early this morning-2.6km done with a mile and km pb. Pleased with that.

Happy running everyone!

evening all
ellie that's brilliant, well done.
myview well done on getting your run in early.

I have managed 3k on the treadmill this evening. Hoping for a 5K out door run tomorrow evening - really wish the weather would improve a bit though. I'm getting fed up of wet, rainy, sleety, cold, dark, windy runs! Cant wait for the Spring and the light evenings!

Myview2 · 15/02/2018 19:00

A late effort from me today. Since I had the day off today I thought I’d have a long lie this morning and run later. I don’t know who I was kidding as I was up at the usual time with the kids only I didn’t have my run done.

Anyway same route as yesterday but the opposite direction, wasn’t feeling it at all but in my keenness to get the torture over with I managed another personal best!

How are you all getting on?

10 laps and 11 laps done. Used my asthma inhaler before running this time which helped. I used to do that before pe at school but I haven't been exercising enough to need it between then and now. I think I'm up to 0.4k now, getting there slowly but surely.

Asdwife · 16/02/2018 10:38

That's great ellie! Doesn't matter what distance, you're running and that's what counts!
I've managed a short run every day since I last posted but have decided to pull out of the 10k race I'd entered when I was feeling more optimistic about my abilities. I'm scared of pushing it with my toe and my back, really don't want another injury.

Myview2 · 16/02/2018 16:25

Great stuff Ellie and ASDWife 👍

I ran a new route today and ran the furthest so far in February of 6.6km. It was hard going as quite hilly in bits. I have decided that I’m never going to find running easy but I’m better at feeling uncomfortable and keeping going now!

That’s day 17 done. An slightly extended run to class this morning of 2.5km. My average speed seems to have increased which I like. The rain is on now so glad I got it out of the way first thing. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

12 and 13 laps done. Today was really hard. I decided to do today's run in 2 parts so I did 7 laps, put the DC to bed and then did another 6. My legs were aching when I went out the 2nd time and by the end my legs and shoulders felt like someone had jumped on them. But I ran all the way, just over 0.5 km today.

Myview2 · 17/02/2018 23:29

Brilliant work Ellie, you should be very proud of yourself.

OP posts:
Asdwife · 17/02/2018 23:34

I ran 5k today! Toe not hurting at all thank goodness.
Tomorrow's run will have to be with dc on their bikes chasing me!

Asdwife · 17/02/2018 23:36

Well done Ellie, you're improving really quickly! I like how you're doing an extra lap each day.

Myview2 · 18/02/2018 13:17

Great to hear you are back Asdwife-sounds like it will a speed training run for you today!

Well done again Ellie, great progress.

I got a short run out of the way today before consuming a cooked breakfast! I'm sure the food more than cancelled out the run, never mind it is done!

Asdwife · 18/02/2018 14:09

As it turned out the dc went out for a couple of hours with family so I managed to run 7k, really pleased with myself! As of tomorrow I'll be taking my running gear to work and running on my lunch break.

elliejjtiny · 18/02/2018 23:05

14 laps done today, all in one go this time.

Myview2 · 19/02/2018 19:16

Wow 7km ASDwife, that is my new mission for this week.

Another record from Ellie too-whoop whoop!

I left for work at 5am this morning and got home at 6.45pm, I was not in the mood for a run! I forced out 2.6km and now feel strangely bouncey-how does that work?!

OP posts:
Asdwife · 19/02/2018 19:19

Running always leaves me bouncy too myview!
I only did 1k on my lunch break today but my legs were pretty stiff after yesterday so probably for the best. Going to try for 8k at some point this week!

elliejjtiny · 19/02/2018 20:54

Not sure how far I ran today but it was from one end of the hospital to the other end and back again. I kept up with my 3 year old easily and overtook several people. This has never happened before and I feel really proud of myself. Going to try and do 15 laps tomorrow and then on Wednesday I need to run the same route as today but this time I need to keep up with the nurses. They will be faster than my 3 year old but they will be pushing a hospital trolley which will hopefully slow them down a bit.

Myview2 · 20/02/2018 13:03

You should be very proud Ellie, you’ll be sprinting by the nurses in no time!

I bet your colleagues are impressed ASDwife.

I’m just back from the flattest 5km I could find. It’s very mild today and I’m now feeling very sweaty glowy Grin

OP posts:
Myview2 · 21/02/2018 14:42

That’s my contribution done for today 2.6km around the block with a few hills in there for good measure. I’m working at the other end of the country tomorrow so it will be a long day but I’m determined not to mess up my Run Everyday streak so have booked in to use the treadmill at an airport hotel gym at daft o’clock before my early morning flight. I may have become slightly obsessed by this challenge Grin

OP posts:
Asdwife · 21/02/2018 22:12

That is serious commitment myview!
I managed 7.5k tonight which I'm delighted with and 1k with dc on bikes yesterday.
Did you keep up with the nurses today Ellie? So impressed by your motivation!

Myview2 · 22/02/2018 08:08

Wow, 7.5km ASDwife! That’s a fab distance.

Looking forward to your update Ellie.

Run done by treadmill this morning, I do find outdoor running more interesting! Not to worry the streak is intact, off to work guilt free now.

15 laps done on Tuesday. Running from one end of the hospital to the other end and back done yesterday. I struggled a bit towards the end of the return journey but a massive improvement from the last time I did it a month ago.
