Run Every Day February - who’s with me?

Myview2 · 01/02/2018 09:19

I got off to a bit of a slow start in January so have decided to embark on RED February instead (the shorter month makes me feel better about it!)

The plan is to run everyday but no pressure on speed or distance and some days it may well be a quick dash around the block as long as I get out there.

Having survived dry January (apart from one teensy glass of wine in the middle so maybe damp January) I have decided I will also give up sweets, chocolate, cake, ice-cream etc. I will allow myself savoury rubbish like crisps etc as I don’t tend to eat a lot of them anyway but sweet things are my weakness and I’ve been succumbing all too often!

So who is with me on the journey? We can all spur each other on.

I buggered up yesterday. A complex arrangement of going back and forth by trains, picking up cars, always being in the wrong place for my sports bra and trainers, meant that I got home at 9pm without having done a run. I am afraid I collapsed into bed (because I had to get up at 5am to go coaching). I did do an hour of walking though, to get to work without a car.

Feel a bit chastened at having failed yesterday. And worried about failing today too - will be so tired when I get home, after a morning of cycling up and down the river alongside a crew. Will just have to do it as soon as I get in.

Don’t you worry GrandOldDuke, when you fal of the wagon then get back up and climb back on. You can do this and we are all behind you😃

Good to hear your update Ellie, well done 👍

But grand, you walked for an hour and cycled up and down the river! That is not failing, it's diversifying Wink
I didn't run yesterday due to toe and today am ill in bed so absolutely no chance I'll be running.

Done. Second fastest attempt at that loop, beating the third fastest by a whisker. Quite a way off the fastest though, so I needn’t reproach myself that I could have made it if I hadn’t stopped etc. But no reproach anyway, because the biggest triumph is that we are putting our kit on and going out.

well done all.
grand I agree that I would allow an hours walk and cycling up and down a river count!! But well done running as well!
ellie well done. Great start

so I took dogs on a lovely walk through the woods this evening as I was home in time before it got dark. clocked up 3.5K. happy with that. Was contemplating a treadmill session too but had some minor twinges in my knee so wont do that today.
out for a proper run tomorrow. Hoping for 5K

very encouraging to hear we are 25% through!

Well done for getting through it, redjellybean. I am so inspired by those of you who are more experienced runners.

Done. 3 laps round the car park. Walked bits of it and now I feel nearly dead but I did it and also managed to not trip over my own feet or the car in the dark.

Well done on your runs and walks yesterday Ellie, GrandOldDuke, Applelolly and Redjellybean (I hope I haven’t missed anyone) - everyone is doing so well! AsdWife - how are you feeling today?

What did your Hiit session involve redjellybean?

I wasn’t feeling it today and had to force myself out the house to run at lunchtime, I’m definitely much better getting it over with first thing before work grinds me down. Having said all that, I broke my RED February record and ran 6.1km. It wasn’t intentional, I got lost Blush!

All dressed and ready to go, but shilly shallying as usual... 6.1k is a great distance myview2, well done!

GrandOldDukeOfPorkiness · 08/02/2018 17:23

Done. 1.7miles / 2.7km. I ran further before getting to my first stopping point than I have so far this February, so am pleased.

Hiit is high intensity interval training. I ran at regular pace for 10mins and then did five x repeats of two minutes flat out as fast as I could then two minutes gentle jog... Then ran 10 min home... The 10 minutes at the beginning is 1.8km steady uphill.... But down hill on way home... I can hardly move today so dis gentle dog walk.

Back to steady pacing run tomorrow thank goodness

Hiit is supposed to be very good for accelerating fat loss and speeding up fitness... Allowing for longer steady pace runs
Well apparently!!!!
Well done on 6.1 myview... No dropping back that is now your standard run... :)

Brilliant record breaking runs Ellie and GrandOldDuke! It’s amazing how much everyone has progressed in a short time.

Applelolly - well done on dragging yourself out, it’s those runs that count the most.

RedJellyBean-great distance and speedy too! I am keen on venturing into hiit at some point but will be sensible and aim to survive RED February first!

I hope you are feeling better and well on the road to recovery now AsdWife.

So it turns out my 5km route I planned today is actually 4.6km Grin so I’ll need to add a bit on next time. I enjoyed it though, the sunshine helps. Have a lovely weekend you fitness fanatics Wink

Great job, myview2! Never mind that missing 400m - you’ve got out and run!

Feeling a lot of stiffness/tension across my back since I started doing this. Any advice from anyone? Must be a problem with my posture or form, I guess, but not sure what.
