First time at my home run with the buggy - 28:11 I was so hot - he didn't sleep but it was a very bumpy ride!

Well done to everyone who got out today Smile

May I join?
10th park run for me today. 43:59 which I was very impressed with as it was bloomin hot.
I've been having a lot of problems with my legs recently but they felt good today which was a relief.
Did nearly pass out after though and have spent the day feeling grotty. Too many wines last night and not even pre run fluids are not a good combo.

I felt like I was on for a pb today, so was gutted when realized I had forgotten Barcode right at end of the race. Was just joining queue to hand token I'm when I saw ds running over with it. Dh had clocked it on side in kitchen, bundled kids into car to get it to me. New pb 32.15, 32sec off previous pb.

There's a group of runners aiming to do all 24 of the Norn Irn ones this weekend in 24 hours!

The driving time will be about half of that, so they're aiming to do each one in under 25 mins.

I saw that Melanie. They are doing my lical one at 4am. I'm not sure if I could drag myself out of bed for that but it is for a lovely reason.

They'll be at my home one at midnight - I didn't even know the park was open at that time of day!

Will probably pop along to one of the other Belfast ones in the afternoon/early evening.

How did everyone's runs go today? I was planning to take it easy ahead of a 10 mile trail race tomorrow but got a bit carried away at the start then realised I was on for a good time that turned into a potential PB.

In the end it was a PBPB by 30secs and only 8 secs of my all time PB Grin

Think I may regret it at about mile 6ish tomorrow Shock

Well done black cat!

I was pacing to 30 minutes, went well, good crowd, weather stayed reasonable after a wee shower during the run brief.

I started off well and felt on course for a PB, then pains in my legs kicked in and I just got slower and slower. Felt really disappointed but at the end someone from my running club said my form was really strong coming in, so that cheered me up a bit. Am also able to consistently run up a hill that I always had to walk before. Thinking I might need to see someone about the pains in my calves. Shooting pains up and down all day yesterday, and still there this morning.

I got a pb 26.29 Dh and DD were volunteering too. It was cold and windy and apparently DD moaned the whole time. I'm glad I wasn't the one listening to her Grin

I overtook a lady at the end, I didn't do it competitively I just try to give it a good sprint finish. We were running kind of side by side as out finishing line is wide enough for 3 or 4 people. Just as we were heading toward the line she sped up and ran right in front of me so I didn't get past her again. She then gave a little smirk in the barcode queue. So she added a few seconds on to her time just to slow me down. Weirdo

Hi everyone! Thread dropped off my tio and I haven't got round to catching up. We had some bad news about ds3 two weeks ago so I didn't run parkrun as I wasn't mentally in a good place, last week I was rd and it was a lovely one, I'm not running parkrun this week as I have a race at 12pm on Saturday (although some of our regulars are taking the opportunity for some tourism beforehand).
I don't know how many of you were around when I had ds3 but he had a problem with his right kidney, he's monitored regularly and although they don't know why or what it is exactly his left kidney is now not functioning normally, this means that he will certainly need a transplant. They're hopeful he'll reach adulthood before he does but it's gone from looking normal to having several cysts and his function being reduced in 6 months so I'm not as hopeful. He's still fine in himself and a happy little man so we will focus on that and I will hopefully be able to run on my own again soon!

How was everyone's parkrun?

Some of our regulars did the parkrun at holkham before the 10k race at 12, said it was a single lap but had 3 hills in it Shock

Got caught in unexpected roadworks so missed the start 🙁 Brilliantly, the volunteer roster was full (unusual) so I had a chat and cheered everyone on, then had a cup of tea at the end with friends. Was still a nice start to the weekend!

I managed to beat my PB by 1:07 Shock no idea how but I know there was nothing left in me at the end and I had to sit down for a while before I got my barcode scanned! After weeks of my times taking 1 step forwards and 2 back I was determined to show some progress and just went for it. I need that mindset every week!

Did Southwark parkrun at the weekend on the way to the Great London Swim - was using our normal buggy (Baby Jogger City Mini) rather than the running one (BOB Ironman) so was a bit slower, also was trying to keep the powder dry a bit for the swim! 31:11 in the end.

At a bit of a loss as to which one to do this weekend. We want to stay close to home because of the Lions test (hubby doesn't want a long delay), Finsbury Park and Ally Pally both cancelled, hubby hates Highbury Fields and Hampstead Heath is difficult for me with the buggy particularly while I'm in the first trimester and don't have a lot of energy...

Have I missed the news? Congrats TriJo! Sounds like you have lots of options! How about dh pushes the buggy while you're preggers Wink

Report
TriJo · 06/07/2017 22:18

DH is only back running properly about 4 months after 5 years of chronic fatigue so I haven't asked him to run with the buggy yet! I'm only 8+3 now so as long as the nausea pipes down for the run it isn't so bad.

Intriguing MelanieCheeks!

How did it go TriJo?

I had a slow one running with a friend and little dog. I may be a tourist next week as we're visiting dss so going to see if I can persuade dh to add it in Smile

I was a tourist this weekend as my usual one wasn't on. I have run it before but not for a while, me and DP ran it together which we never do and we both said we just wanted a gentle run, no chasing times. I got a comfortable PB Shock it is a much easier run as it is pretty much flat. But I was still chuffed!

Hi all, enjoy reading about your Park Runs. I was disappointed with my time yesterday, 42.54 minutes, previous week it was 41.35. Last year (I've stopped going, just started again) my pb was 39.46. I used to do 5K in 30 minutes and would like to again! Out of interest, alongside running, does anyone do weights or any other exercise?

Any sort of other exercise is good! Weights or core training in particular, but any non cardio.

You'll get there, just needs patience!

No run this weekend for me - DS brought home a foul stomach bug from nursery and we all have it now :(

We did Rushmere this week. Lovely but a tad hilly. Quite liked it though. The best bit was the cafe which was literally in the treetops.

I think this week we are off to sunny Luton and then running back all Thunder Run training.
