Panic moment, we were running out of room on old thread so started a new one for today's run reports Smile

Did my second PR today, 34.47 so over a minute faster. Some of that will be the sprint finish although my lungs did not thank me for it!

Scientistic · 08/09/2018 20:34

Well done drop!

Scientistic · 08/09/2018 20:35

And well done marvellous! Did your dd enjoy it?

marvelousways · 08/09/2018 20:40

drop well done. A minute off is Fab.
scientist thanks. Yes she did enjoy it. She got a bit flustered at the start, she had never done an organised run with a lot of people before, but she had a good run and was really happy with her result of 28 mins. She's coming with me again next week.

givemushypeasachance · 10/09/2018 10:17

I volunteered on Saturday handing out finish tokens. Always a bit surprised by the number of people who don't have barcodes - a mix of newbies who haven't registered yet, folk who've forgotten theirs, and then idk mysterious non-registered people doing it with mates maybe? I always try to tell them they were e.g. runner number 183, so they can still look up the results page and see the unknown runner at 183 and get their time from that.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 10/09/2018 16:33

Got a PB for this year on Saturday. Now down to 33:30 Smile, so still hoping to hit sub 30 by end of 2018. I’m absolutely loving Parkrun - something I’d never have thought possible Grin

MelanieCheeks · 16/09/2018 11:17

How did everyone get on this week?

I revisited one I'd done a few weeks ago, and was hopeful of shaving off a second or 2 from my previous time. BUT they've changed the course slightly - I think it was too short before. So no PB. But on the plus side, I managed to come in with a time ending in 49 seconds, which was the one time missing from my "parkrun Bingo" set (a complete set of finishing times ending in all the seconds from 00 to 59)

Grin
givemushypeasachance · 17/09/2018 11:08

Ha I hadn't heard of that parkrun bingo before Melanie, I'll have to start ticking off my times!

My local was pretty busy at the weekend - the park is being used for a festival next week so they had a big fence around the edge of the paths for the setup, that contributes to making it feel more crowded. No run next week so I'll be looking to go elsewhere - question is do I go easy local alternate or tourist to somewhere new? It's the day before my first ever half marathon, so sensible option would be go local but I do like touristing new places...

Scientistic · 17/09/2018 14:17

I had a crap Friday so thought bugger it and got up Saturday and did it alone - for my second one I was pretty proud as I usually have family there! I ditched my bag on someone I know as I was late but that meant I had no time to worry about it. Sooooo nearly got the time I wanted, got clogged at the start (big one where we are) and that minute of having to wander about around people would have got me there!

runningpink · 22/09/2018 19:51

I got a PB today!! This is a rare occurrence these days so I am super happy!

AuntieStella · 23/09/2018 19:09

Well done!

But did you dance? I've just seen a tweet of this weekend's visitors to Fulham Palace Parkrun.- a set of Morris Men who danced the whole way round (anyeethey did e their barcodes!)

Anyone who tries to tell you that Parkrun is competitive (because it's timed runs with published results) really should look at things like this on the barking mad community side of it

CalmConfident · 24/09/2018 10:14

Agree Auntie Stella

I have somehow been sucked into this having just had a random fancy dress costume arrive so I can join some parkrun pals as a theme to visit another local run in a couple of weeks time.

The parkrun in question is having a normal week. No theme. No birthday.

Just 6 of us going to rock up looking like idiots...and why not SmileGrin

runningpink · 26/09/2018 14:46

Auntie I didn’t dance but I did screech at the poor folk in front of me who stopped dead just before crossing the finish line which drives me bonkers especially when Timekeeping and even more so on Saturday!
I was lucky not to take them out as I was on full sprint finish in the hope of that PB!
I did apologise after for shouting at them to keep going!

I seen that video! Very funny!

Iblinkedandiamold · 06/10/2018 22:34

Can I join in? I did my 3rd park run today and I half walked half jogged. I finished in a time of 36.05. Just got my email, it was a long wait.

runningpink · 09/10/2018 18:31

Welcome Iblinked
That’s an amazing time! Well done you!
You will be running your 50th before you know it!
I know what you mean about waiting for the results! I got a PB a few weeks ago, and was hovering over the laptop as soon as the data had been uploaded!
(I am part of the core team and it was my friend doing the results so I wasn’t just being a random annoying person!)

Standingonlego · 14/10/2018 10:12

Anyone seen this thread in Aibu?

Can I celebrate here please?

All that Half Marathon training also paid off at Parkrun, with a rather unexpected PB - by 17 seconds !!!!!!

And that put me at 69.25%, and I never thought I'd get near the 70 club (sets new goal.....)

AuntieStella · 27/10/2018 13:34

The thread has gone quiet, so I'll just very quietly add that I had another PB this week.

What a difference the cooler weather makes!

Standingonlego · 28/10/2018 23:10

Well done AuntieStella that is fabulous news!!! SmileStar

Well done on your PBs Auntie

It will be my first run at a parkun in I think 5weeks! Cannot wait.

It’s my first time at a new local course (I have been volunteering/helping set it up) so will be nice to actually run the route.

Hope everyone has a lovely morning.

AuntieStella · 17/11/2018 20:34

How did it go runningpink ?

I touristed locally today to a nearby (flat) course, and took an amazing 52 secs off my all-time PB. I'm still basking. in the after-glow!!

Geekster1963 · 17/11/2018 22:29

I did my first parkrun a couple of weeks ago it is a new one near where I live.

I was a Marshall this week and I was quite nervous but I really enjoyed cheering everyone on. I’m certainly going to be a regular.

runningpink · 18/11/2018 12:18

It went surprisingly well Auntie and managed the course in a similar time to my usual parkrun course. This course has some wee sneaky hills so I wasn’t expecting a decent time at all.
Was so nice to just run at a parkrun again.

Well done on your PB Auntie! It’s a great feeling! Hope it are still basking in the achievement today!

Geekster well done on volunteering! I love volunteering as much as the running.
Barcode scanning and timekeeping are two of my favourite roles.

Geekster1963 · 18/11/2018 15:15

Thanks runningpink I really enjoyed volunteering. I was a Marshall this time as didn’t want the responsibility of time keeping or giving out the tokens just yet! Will do them eventually.

It was nice because it’s a couple of laps so I saw everyone twice and the runners were very friendly too.
