Hello. Can I join this thread, please? I completed C25K a few weeks ago and did my first Parkrun in 6 years on Saturday. I was just hoping for my time to start with a 3 and not to be at the back. I got 36:29, which is exactly 5 mins slower than my Parkrun from 2012, so I’ve got something to aim for Smile. My plan is to do two 2.5K runs during the week then Parkrun. Very hot today but I managed to get round, slowly!!

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 25/06/2018 12:50

How lovely Avon - hop aboard

AuntieStella · 25/06/2018 13:04

We had the Co-op too, with freebies and discount vouchers.

Is this going to mean we're all going to need new hi-viz jackets, to reflect the new sponsors?

givemushypeasachance · 02/07/2018 10:39

It was a hot one on Saturday, I touristed to a relatively new run about an hour away from me. It's partly on the fields of a sports college so there was the luxury of being able to have a shower and get changed afterwards! My local doesn't even have toilets after the council closed them earlier this year. Anyway, nice to check out somewhere different. Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

MelanieCheeks · 02/07/2018 19:11

Well done all, it was very hot for running! I was pacing ( we do this last Saturday of each month), and I'd chosen a sensible jogging pace to do, whcih was wise. No dog, also wise!

runningpink · 07/07/2018 21:08

How was everyone’s parkrun today?

I was very glad to be timekeeping rather than running today. We had lots of milestones with lots of cake and a visit to the beach. Smile

AvonCallingBarksdale · 07/07/2018 21:40

I did my third in three weeks today. 36:29, 35:36 and today 35:02, so I’m really pleased. I’m aiming to get to 30:00 by the end of the year.

lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 08/07/2018 06:55

Very warm where I was yesterday - but a lovely atmosphere and a rousing poem at the start!

I was quite slow but importantly didn’t walk so all good.

AuntieStella · 04/08/2018 12:05

I was a tourist today, and managed a good (for me) time on a pretty course. And ticked off another letter.

Are many others touristing much during the hols?

Rupeomatic · 11/08/2018 11:51

Morning everyone - can I join in?

Pretty new to parkrunning, think today was my 10th or so. After weeks of boiling hot Saturday mornings, really enjoyed a wet and cool tourist parkrun in North Devon today.

givemushypeasachance · 13/08/2018 09:13

My local was very busy this week, a couple of hundred more people than usual because a few of the other local-ish ones were off for various reasons. Meant the first lap was pretty slow while everyone was bunched up, but there were a good dozen or so four-legged runners and doggo spotting is one of my fave parts of parkrun so I was happy!

megletthesecond · 15/08/2018 14:39

Who knew that new running trainers would make such a difference to my running Blush. I've never spent proper money on them before, my new Saucony trainers were £120 and worth every penny. I figured it's cheaper than sports physio on my increasingly middle aged body.
Looking forward to this weekend. It might be the first cool parkrun I've done for a while.

goldopals · 18/08/2018 01:19

I'm jealous of those of you with warm weather; at the moment ours is never above 2 degrees.

I achieved one of my biggest goals today; getting below 30:00! I actually manage to knock a minute and a half off my previous PB. I actually cried when I realised.

MelanieCheeks · 18/08/2018 08:03

Well done Goldo!

I've missed teh past 2 weeks as I was away doing a dance exam (but I passed, so that's all good)

So today I'm attending a new one in Norn Irn.

Larasshadow · 18/08/2018 10:14

Just got back from our park run. It was their 4th anniversary so they had marker runners for times to finish in (I don't know the correct term!). I was running with my 2 children and our aim was to beat the 40 minute lady, we tried to catch up with number 38 but we didn't make it but really happy to finish in under 40 minutes. Smile

Standingonlego · 18/08/2018 11:29

Getting back into the parkrun zone! Also aiming for sub 30 by end of year. Humid today but easy home run compared to the tourist fun at landyhydrock last week.!

Parkrun servers are down right now - too much traffic!!

I had a good one this morning, back at home run. Garmin put it at a PB, but I think I clicked the button only when I started moving, not when the front-runner's did, so I think my official Parkrun time won't be

MelanieCheeks · 18/08/2018 11:50

Those running to specific times are pacers. My home Parkrun does this on the last Saturday of each month.

Larasshadow · 18/08/2018 12:07

Ah pacers, that's the word, thanks Melanie.

Sinkingfeeling · 18/08/2018 18:54

Can I join you all? I just did my first ever parkrun today, having graduated C25K a couple of weeks ago. It was ace, but I'm shattered and have aching hips, knees and muscles now. So pleased to have run 31 min Grin

MelanieCheeks · 18/08/2018 19:17

Everyone welcome here!

Well done on your first parkrun, and that's a great first result!

Sinkingfeeling · 18/08/2018 19:19

Thank you, Melanie - it's a very welcoming thread. I've just been reading your blog, which is really inspiring. I come from NI orginally (Coleraine-ish) and my Dad comes from Castleblayney. Small world Smile

MelanieCheeks · 18/08/2018 19:23

Wow! That's really cool! But yeah, we Norn Irn people all know each other ;-)

We are off to the States in a few weeks, and I'm very tempted to do the new New York-ish run that's just started. It requires a 7am train but I think I can manage.....

Nuggetsandwich · 19/08/2018 11:26

I've signed up for parkrun and have a shiny new barcode waiting for it's first outing. Just working my way through C25K and I'll be joining you. Just here for the inspo atm. Grin
