Panic moment, we were running out of room on old thread so started a new one for today's run reports Smile

Congrats, goldopals !

I equalled my PB today (which means I ran well, but I was surprised how frustrating it was for it not to 'count' IYSWIM)

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 26/05/2018 14:46

Well done goldopals - no run for me this morning - had to work :( but really looking forward to next week :)

runningpink · 26/05/2018 18:39

Well done on the PB’s today.
I ended up volunteering as was unable to run unfortunately due to hurting myself during a race the night before. Feel like I’m not meant to hit the big 50! Sad

On a plus I came home to my v25 tshirt

givemushypeasachance · 29/05/2018 10:06

Very belated catch up to this thread - I ended up touristing to Victoria Docks which was unlike any other parkrun I've been to. It does start and finish in a small community park area but it's very much a dockside run in a built-up area, couldn't get much less park-like! Perfectly flat and fast course though, I got a 5k strava PB that probably won't be beaten for a while given everywhere in my home town has hills. The volunteers were very nice and in fancy dress as superheros for Comic Con which was just getting started at the neighbouring Excel Centre.

JustGettingStarted · 02/06/2018 10:23

I ran significantly less this week. Less than half of the mileage of the previous week. And I felt much faster and more comfortable this morning for it.

cestlavielife · 02/06/2018 11:52

New pb under 40 minutes (by 2 seconds). Woo hoo (bearing in mind I am 50+ and never ran or jogged til few months ago!)

TheMouseInMyPocket · 02/06/2018 12:10

Did my first parkrun today (Lincoln)! Enjoyed it and will definitely be doing it againGrin. Time somewhere around 35 minutes, forgot to stop my watch till after the barcode scanning so don't know exactly...

givemushypeasachance · 04/06/2018 09:37

Well done all! Smile

@TheMouseInMyPocket - had you not registered beforehand? If you do now then you'll have a barcode for scanning and tracking your runs/times in future. In the mean time you can look up the online results page for your local parkrun and it lists everyone's times - where people aren't registered it says "unknown" so if you know approximately when you finished you can look for an unknown runner listing and that's quite possibly you.

TheMouseInMyPocket · 04/06/2018 10:38

@givemushypeasachance yes I do have my barcode, just didn't know the official time yet when I posted Smile. I do now - 35:42, when I first started c25k 10 weeks ago (graduated now) I was hoping I could do a parkrun in 40 minutes, so I'm happy with that Grin

MelanieCheeks · 05/06/2018 19:15

Ah hello everyone, and welcome aboard, Mouse.

Is anyone dressing up for this week's NHS 70th cekebrations? I have my Call the Midwife outfit ready to go :-)

givemushypeasachance · 06/06/2018 09:07

My local was encouraging NHS themed fancy dress, but I'm visiting relatives so will be touristing to one near them on Saturday and they don't seem to be doing that side of things - just encouraging NHS staff to attend. I think there was mention of bringing cake though, so not all bad!

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 09/06/2018 11:35

New PB!! No children this morning and DH was a hero and paced me to 3221. So pleased - he was incredibly generous considering no small people meant he could have aimed for a decent time himself.

And I was dehydrated (need to drop Friday beers) and wearing pyjamas for the NHS theme

AuntieStella · 09/06/2018 13:09

Lots of cake at ours today.

And a different call to line up at the start. Not as usual by wildly over optimistic self assessment of time, but all NHS staff at the front. Nice touch

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 09/06/2018 13:41

Oh that’s lovely auntie Stella - what a nice touch - we had a nurses prayer and the reader was v emotional. ‘‘Twas grand

runningpink · 17/06/2018 18:43

How did everyone’s parkrun go yesterday?

I ran and volunteered. It was rather soggy and I struggled most of the way round so didn’t particularly enjoy. Luckily there was lots of cake afterwards to make up for the rubbish run.

MelanieCheeks · 17/06/2018 19:36

I was doing my 50 th different run, my 210th parkrun in total.

I chose a wee town that my mother lived in for a few years when she was a little girl.

I made cake! Waiting for the parkrun to post some photos that I can grab and put into my blog. I'm

givemushypeasachance · 18/06/2018 10:05

Congrats MelanieCheeks, that's some amazing touristing! I was away from home at my parents' local, second time round the course and knocked 90 seconds off my previous time for it so was pleased with that.

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 19/06/2018 06:30

Well done Melanie and mushy. I had a shocker on Saturday- pb the previous week so for cocky and started way too fast (FYI still slow- fast for me!) and ended up having to walk to catch myself. Lost sight of the pacer I was aiming to stick with :(. Still good to learn and you can’t pb every week!

goldopals · 23/06/2018 09:20

How'd you all go today? I had a shocker; recovering from a bad cold, after yesterday off work and managed to finish! I'm focusing on that rather than my worst ever time of 36 minutes

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 23/06/2018 10:58

Always better to just show up. Well done goldopals

I had ds and his friend this morning and they took it in turns to sprint and lag. Complete pita and felt like the longest 5k of my life. Still next time it will be DH’s turn to have them.

MelanieCheeks · 23/06/2018 15:02

It was a warm one! My home venue was cancelled due to another event, so I went to my nearest next one, which I've done a few times before. It's a nice but hilly course through a forest, which was welcome given the sunny conditions. They were also having a C25K graduation, so numbers were high. With a dog, I had to start at the back, and it was 40 seconds before I crossed the start line!

Happy enough to finish with a smile, even though my time was rubbish.

MelanieCheeks · 23/06/2018 16:37

Can I have a bit of a grumble here?

As I said, I did my 50th place last week. I blog about all the parkruns I visit, and try to include lots of photos. I took SOME myself last week, but I knew they were taking plenty, and was hoping to do my usual grabs from their Facebook page. Except they havent posted them. I even messaged midweek to ask, but havent had a reply. And they have just posted up TODAY's pictures!

I've been holding off on publishing the blog until I get a full set of photos, but it looks lke that might not happen.

Oh well, first world problem and all....

runningpink · 23/06/2018 19:12

melanie can you go directly to that parkrun’s Flickr page and see if the photos are there incase they have just forgotten to post a link to them on the Facebook page?

Very annoying for you. Fingers x they appear.

MelanieCheeks · 23/06/2018 21:07

Tried that already.

I've just done the blog without, and a note that if I get further pics they will be added.

We had the Co-op at my local on Saturday - they're one of the national sponsors of parkrun and seem to be doing this thing where they travel around in a van giving out hundreds of "recipe boxes" with some food and vouchers and a recipe booklet at different parkrun events. Ours had some wraps, a tin of chopped tomatoes and bottle of olive oil. Plus a £3 voucher. Not to be sniffed at - thanks Co-op!
