I'd be bribing your dc with the iPad and getting a workout in to cheer yourself up notime. Sounds like you're being very hard on yourself for missing a couple of workouts. FlowersYou'll be back in the swing of it before you know it.

if you've not got much time you could even do half a t25. That's what a friend of mine does - she just presses play and does as much of the workout as she has time for.

NoTimeToDillyDally · 04/08/2017 18:36

Purple blue - both really good ideas. I'm so 'all or nothing'. I'll do that. Thank you 🌈

Reastie · 04/08/2017 20:48

Agree with purple notime. I also try to think of exercise as something essential not optional, like you need to eat every day and always ,anage to make time for that, you have to make time to workout a few times a week too. Having that mindset helps me.

Not a great week in duration but quantity has been ok. After workout class with dd on Monday I've since done combat core and 21 day fix lower. Have never done the lower workout before but it was good apart from couldn't hold weights as flared up injury, but I'm so unfit it still mostly felt like a challenge without the weights, and I worked really hard to try and go really deep in the moves to make it worthwhile. I find autumn a bit annoying ATM though I'm hoping she'll grow on me. She's far too chipper all the time and perfect looking.

Reastie you're so right, too. Good attitude to adopt. I've no excuse really.

yumyumpoppycat · 05/08/2017 00:16

Notime one option might be to get your stuff all ready the night before I never do this part then get up, get your gear on and then get the kids breakfast ready and on the table and exercise while they eat, you will need to press pause at least once to go in and yell at them to stop messing around check they are ok. This option is not perfect but works fairly ok for me as my front room and dining rooms are smallish and directly next to each other but separate iyswim so I am on alert and listening out for them, they also come in and watch me when they finish breakfast and sometimes join in or sometimes irritate me and I ask them to skidaddle. I don't know how well this would work for you though, possibly there will be a better window for you, pos if they usually watch tv/ipads in the late afternoon that will be a better time. Like Purple says though just press play and do as much as you can; I often stop workouts early when short on time and sometimes feel bad for shoehorning it in but it keeps me in the routine of exercising most days.

NoTimeToDillyDally · 05/08/2017 08:20

I started that way but lost my rag on more than one occasion. It kinda worked when I didn't. Think it's maybe what I need to try again

yumyumpoppycat · 05/08/2017 10:18

I am a total hypocrite btw Notime as I haven't exercised this week beyond a pilates class, but I will today. Oh another strategy is to ask them to tidy their bedrooms while you exercise, with mine this usually involves the children hiding upstairs pretending to tidy for half an hour!

Purpleraindeer · 05/08/2017 11:28

Reastie I find Autumn too perfect too. She is just so chipper it's annoying. The workouts are v effective though

Brilliant child mgmt tips poppy. I often stop my weekend workouts to deal with various child related issues. Often I'm quite relieved to have a pause! Hope you fit something in notime.

Went to crossfit this am. I could see I could really get into it. Lots of weights and unusual things which are challenging (we did rope climbing - I was rubbish and got impressive rope burns!) and a nice friendly environment. Big emphasis on strength which I liked and lots of body types - not just musclebound heros. It was a very young group tho - I was definitely the only one with 2 kids. It was v inefficient time wise though - took 1.5hrs incl travel which feels like a long time on a sat am. I think I'll go back - it's £10 per session so not cheap but not ruinous either. I will be stiff later as my competitive streak got the best of me so I really pushed hard. Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 05/08/2017 13:03

£10 and 1.5 hrs time spent is more or less snap for the subscription classes I do Purple, sounds like it was fun! Well done on braving a new class! I got carpetburns at that hellish class last week - badge of honour ;) Actually at that class I had to strongly resist the urge to explain to my partner that I had no core strength as only 5ft4 but have given birth to 3 9lb babies!

There is NO WAY I can climb ropes couldn't even do that in PE as a child! I just googled crossfit - I would have to get a train to a gym, however the webpage has achingly cool tattooed, undercut youngsters on it which is not a category I fit into! Also the drop in price is double what you paid, ouch.

Hope you're not too sore tomorrow.

Purpleraindeer · 06/08/2017 18:44

Not as sore but I was expecting today. Although I have got a massive bruise on my bum from doing v sits on what I now realise was a rather hard floor. Ow.
Poppy I think the crossfit place near me is v cheap - all the others seem to be £15 or £20 for walk in and most are monthly fee only which makes no sense for me. I think the trade off is that the coaching is less professional and structured at the one I went to. This may be a problem or maybe not. I'll have to see.

Hope you've all had good weekends

Reastie · 06/08/2017 18:49

I've never ever been able to climb rope either, even at primary school. I can vividly remember watching others enviously who could and no matter how hard I tried I could barely hold my body weight let alone climb.

Not bad this week end workout wise with a 10.5k run yesterday and 14k cycle this morning, both of which totted up to 1300cals :) hoping for parent and child workout class again tomorrow then a fairly gentle workout week after three days in a row (maybe a quick core workout and something else during the week, possibly an easier pump DVD).

Purple ouch to the bruise from v sit ups. Was that from cross fit? Did they not use mats?!

OP posts:
TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 07/08/2017 18:29

Wow purple, good job on climbing the rope! I couldn't even do that as a child in PE. There's a crossfit gym across the road from my house and I often see people running out of the door, round the block and back in. Is Crossfit more focused on functional movements like the way our ancestors moved?

The pairing up gym classes are a nightmare. Once I was the only person to turn up for a stretching class and the instructor insisted we do the class anyway, which basically consisted of us sat on the floor, holding hands, pushing and pulling each other. I'm not into touching strangers so it was awkward. Blush

I had a short break from T25 due to starting a new job and the upheaval of that, but I'm back on it now, and I'm on Beta phase. Also, I did a gym class last week for the first time since starting T25 and I (completely unexpectedly!) smashed it; I was way fitter than I had been before, even though I'd been going to classes in the gym 4x a week for a year. So that's really encouraging and I'm definitely going to stick with T25.

Might be presumptuous, but what does everybody recommend for after T25? Insanity? 21 day fix?

Purpleraindeer · 09/08/2017 06:12

Welcome back bus! Sounds like t25 is working brilliantly for you. That's great re the exercise class. I always wonder what people think when I say I do at home workout DVDs. I think they assume I'm doing a little dance workout with someone from Big Brother so are always surprised when they see how fit these workouts make you. That definitely happened at cross fit last week.

For your next DVD I think it depends on what you've enjoyed of t25. If you like lots and lots of cardio do insanity or insanity max 30. If you want more weights/cardio together do 21df or 21df extreme or p90x3.

I've got 2 more workouts of insanity mth 1 to go. I'm soooooo bored with it. It is 3 workouts over and over again. Argh. Roll on mth 2 just for a change!

Purpleraindeer · 10/08/2017 20:55

Finished insanity month 1 Grin. Did it in 3 weeks as I skipped all the recovery and stretch workouts. Blush

Reastie · 10/08/2017 21:15

Completely agree with purples ideas for future dvds post t25, they are spot on.

Not nene on much this week sorry, just been hectic and back into redecorating again now we've had built in furniture made where ch needs painting.

Did the parent and child workout class again on Monday which was good, I enjoyed it and just made it harder than the instructor was doing with more running/bouncing. Unfortunely there was a child next to me on one side and a wall the other which made the track with kicks difficult to go full out. Did piyo lower and 21 df ten min abs today. Wanted a lower body workout and it's been so long since I did piyo thought I'd do that but I think 21df lower or p90x3 lower would have been more challenging. That's four days I've worked out this week which is my holiday aim.

I discovered one can do a days course to become an accredited trainer in various bb things like core de force or piyo. Bb gave me a notification yesterday there was a days training near me this week so I had a nose into it. They seem to say you don't even need any previous experience in taking classes. It seems slightly worrying anyone could teach the Bb classes with only a day of training (even me!), just doesn't seem much does it, or is this the norm maybe, if you can pay you can do it...

Theromanempire · 11/08/2017 10:15

Hi everyone, I'm back Smile

Have had a fab holiday, did lots of lying on sunbeds, drinking cocktails and eating and very little exercising (unless you count bobbing about in the pool for 5 minutes a few times a day as exercise Grin)

However, I appear to have not put any weight on which I am not exactly sure how. My clothes still fit and look like they did when I went away which is great Smile My only thought is that my meals generally consisted of a lot of barbecued meat and salad and not many carbs so maybe that helped? Also, the plates were small and I tended not to go back for seconds so I am wondering if there is something in the theory that you should eat from a small plate??

Anyway, it is a bonus Grin

So, back to it now. Starting exercise again tomorrow and I am actually looking forward to it Smile Going to put a schedule together from Monday so this weekend, me and DH will just do whatever we fancy.

There was an amazing offer on 21df whilst we were away - the DVD set, those little containers, guides on the eating plan and a recipe book for £34 Shock I bought it - firstly so we have the DVD's as back up if the secret site ever disappears and secondly, we are wondering whether to do the eating plan but it does look horribly complicated Confused

Also, Autumn posted an update on FB about her new programme which is coming out in January - not sure if any of you have picked it up? It is called '80 day obsession' and is basically an 80-day programme which will actually have 80 different workouts (some might be the same workouts but filmed on a different day if that makes sense) so it is basically going to be a real-time workout so you can follow the progress of the people as well as doing it yourself. Not sure if I am explaining that very well Blush

hope you are all ok - will catch up with the thread this weekend Smile

Purpleraindeer · 12/08/2017 14:22

Welcome back roman. Sounds like you're enthusiastic to get back into it! Great on the hols weight too - I bet you're right re portions and no carbs. I looked at autumns 80 day work out. It's all marketed at creating a shapely butt which put me off a bit. I don't care about that - I want to be fit and strong - my butt shape is irrelevant. However her workouts are very effective so I might give it a go.

Went to crossfit again today. Was an eye opener. Did proper barbell weights today. There's so much technique to it which was hard. Also I couldn't believe the strength and athleticism of some of the girls. They had finished their workout and I was still only half way through. Gave me something to work towards though. We also did tricep dips on hanging rings (like gymnasts use). That felt hardcore Smile

I agree with you re training to be a trainer for beach body in a day reastie. I can't believe that results in high quality trainers.

yumyumpoppycat · 13/08/2017 19:34

Welcome back Roman - 80 day obsession sounds interesting, sound like a BBon demand thing, wonder if they will release DVDs?

Purple crossfit class sounds super hard core well done! I watched another Netflix doco called Finding Traction about a woman ultra running and that was very inspiring.

Well done on Gymclass The Bus! Thant must have felt amazing,

Reastie - that is crazy only 1 day of training to teach BB classes!

I have been such a slacker recently, but today I am back on it and did jillian Michaels Body shred launch workout - look as though its on YouTube and it is pretty tough for the introductory workout {gulp} I do love her motivational speeches - apparently completing Bodyshred will make you more courageous at work Confused Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 13/08/2017 19:35

PS Roman well done on having a thoroughly lovely sounding holiday without gaining weight {clinks cocktail}

Theromanempire · 13/08/2017 20:28

I may not have put any weight on whilst away but I am still at least 3 stone overweight Confused Grin ah well, onwards and upwards! I have a shelf full of winter skirts which I have never quite fitted in...this is going to be the year!!

Crossfit sounds very hard core- I have seen Crossfit gyms around and wondered what it involves. purple how is the class structured?

reastie 1 day doesn't surprise me tbh. It's all about money isn't it and 1 day is al ways going to be more attractive to people? I know classes such as Zumba, clubbercise and meta fit only require 1 day Hmm

Reastie · 13/08/2017 20:59

I like the sound of the 80 day thing, it seems promising. I've certainly never done a workout DVD series like that before and it would be nice to have the same workout but filmed at a different time as it does get very repetitive when you know what they will say before they do but then tbh autumn doesn't really have that variety in what she says anyway. I hope the modifier lady is in them as she always makes me feel like I'm doing really well and despite the annoying whoops and cheers I quite like her.

Really good news. Today I did my longest ever run in terms of length, duration, and calorie burn. It was 8 miles but took me 80 minutes and I burned nearly 1000 calories Grin . I was very pleased with myself as I kept nearly taking the short route home but pushing myself. That's nearly 1/3 of a marathon!

I looked up how long to train to be a crossfit trainer (sorry purple but I was interested!) and it's 2 days for level one and a further two days for level 2. It's actually making me quite worried about how qualified personal/fitness trainers actually are. I mean, I could pay for a one day course and then go out and teach Zumba. That is a worrying thought.

Purple I am so impressed with tricep dips gymnastics style, I could never do that any more. I bet it feels wonderful to feel so strong and do that.

Yumy I love how doing Jillian's workout will make you courageous at work! She's full of motivational blurb like shaun t is getting good at. I can't remember if I mentioned this but shaun t has got (or is soon releasing, I forget which) a motivational book soon. I don't think it's just about exercise, more generally motivational.

Thermo glad you had a good holiday and yay to the lack of weight gain. Make those winter skirts you target!

Purpleraindeer · 16/08/2017 07:29

That's fab re the run reastie. Well done!

Am feeling like a broken women at the mo. Was suddenly really sore 3 days after cross fit in all sorts of weird places. Made things worse no doubt by starting insanity mth 2. Am full of random aches and pains now. Need to work out tonight so will either man up and get on with insanity schedule or swap order round and do a recovery work out.

Hope you're all well. How are you getting on notime?

yumyumpoppycat · 18/08/2017 17:18

How are you feeling now Purple - did you do Insanity?

Fingers crossed for winter skirts Roman!

I haven't done any workouts this week Blush but did the 2nd Jillian bodyshred today, which was quite good. She got one of the cast to instruct the stretches while she joined the cast which I thought was good - maybe she isn't so bad after all.

yumyumpoppycat · 18/08/2017 17:49

Reastie huge well done on your run too!

Reastie · 19/08/2017 20:00

Thanks. Well, good news is I've beaten my running pb (just!) today. Did 13.5k. Very pleased with myself but my groin is really strained (am I the only one that when I say that thinks of shaun t saying 'josh, don't over stretch your groin' in insanity?!). I'm hoping it'll be back to normal tomorrow but given I was running for pretty much one and a half hours this morning I'm thinking of taking a break from tomorrow's workout to give my body a rest in the hope I can sneak workouts in on Monday, Thursday, and Friday of next week.

Purple how are the random aches now? And how is month two going?

Yumy I note Jillian joins in on the easy bit the stretches and not the actual workout then!
