I hope you find me

Hi why
T25 is a great place to start. No weights needed for the first 4 wks. It whipped me into shape in no time. Good luck!

Reastie - well done on the combat. Now make sure you don't over do it...... am smiling re your cycling shorts. I find mine a bit like I'd imagine a nappy would feel and I have a slight urge to wee in them. Obviously I haven't actually done that Grin. Re knickers I have some size 14 ones from before I lost my baby weight and as they're loose they don't give me vpl. Or you could try a thong Smile

Did max out power tonight. Dd4 and ds2 joined me for the last 10mins. They did some impressive burpees involving jumping straight to all fours and then back up again. Dd enjoyed it so much she asked to do it again when it finished so I pressed play again (for her - not me, I was way too tired). I left her to it and came back into the room and found her doing side to side slap back jacks. It was very cute.

whyhastherumgone · 30/06/2017 08:39

Burpees are my nemesis I am envious of your DD and DS Purple

Theromanempire · 30/06/2017 10:07

Welcome why Smile T25 is a good way to start but my preference is 21 day fix (21df) - mainly because you get drinks breaks in it Grin Depends on what you want to get out of it, what type of exercise you enjoy etc. I think Beachbody provides such a wide range of options, there is definitely something there for everyone - you just need to try a few to see what you enjoy!

Not sure what to do tonight - it definitely needs to be cardio but maybe with weights aswell. Just can't seem to find inspiration although as I type, I am thinking of doing Gamma Extreme Circuit (although it isn't that much cardio Blush). No DH tonight so I have complete free choice which seems to be making it harder to choose Grin

Love the image of nappy-type cycling shorts - forget what they look like, just focus on how much more comfortable they are going to be Grin

As for knickers, as I generally only workout at home, a VPL does not bother me one bit but I have suddenly become very conscious of it when I go to Clubbercise and realise I have strangers stood behind me Blush Only solution I have is a thong!

whyhastherumgone · 30/06/2017 12:06

Thanks roman - is that a DVD I can get or is it a streaming service? I've given it a google but a lot of links have come up and not sure which is which...

whyhastherumgone · 30/06/2017 12:33

Today is my first proper day of starting over - I've had scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes and avocado for brunch and am planning in a 5km gentle run this afternoon followed by a pilates DVD to stretch out.

I always seem to get a weird lower back/hip pain after exercising - kind of a low ache [feels like a knot] that sometimes goes down my leg as well - going to get it checked out but wondered if anyone has experienced the same and can recommend any stretches to help with it?

Reastie · 30/06/2017 13:06

There is no way I will be wearing a thong, I find them the most uncomfortable thing ever and I think it would put me off my stride. I'm wondering about these . Usually I find the bigger the pants the better Grin but my only experience of shorts type knickersnhave all ridden up my derrière but these look a bit fuller.

Why just be careful not to go too crazy too soon. I'd say it's better to build up so as not to injure yourself and to make sure yo stick with it (said by the lady with multiple injuries!). I started on three workouts a week and built up. I can't help with the ache I'm afraid but I know sometimes the place of pain isn't necessarily where the actual issue is (e.g. I have a knee pain I get that actually comes from a glute issue). I have a foam roller which might be something that might help you get the knots and tension out.

Thermo gamma extreme circuit sounds so hardcore! I've never done that one, the only gamma workout I've done is speed3.

Rest day for me today and then either run or cycle tomorrow.

Good advice Reastie I always tend to throw myself into these things then not be able to stick to them...Maybe I'll ease off to start with and take it a bit easy while I get into it...

I have just ordered a foam roller! It looks pretty evil but here's hoping it might do some good!

Not sure I could wear a thong when working out, my dream is that this working out will give me such a peachy behind that I'll want to wear nothing but thongs all the time. Pipe dream...also, might make it slightly difficult to go out in public...

whyhastherumgone · 30/06/2017 13:32

Actually Reastie I got some seamless boy short type pants from Tesco of all places and I always wear them for working out, I don't have a link but might be worth a look?

Theromanempire · 30/06/2017 18:17

reastie have you never done Pyramid either? That is an awesome workout, Ript Up is a good upper/back workout and Extreme circuit is a mix of weights and cardio but in a really good format of 4 x 69 secs of different exercise then a burn out of 15 secs each then you move onto a different set of 4 workouts.

Love these more than the alpha ones!!

why I'll send you a PM about the workouts and how to get them Smile

Reastie · 02/07/2017 12:54

Not sure I have done pyramid no. One to look forward to when I'm back to normal.

Nailed workouts this week end. Yesterday pb for length of run with 12k (took me 1 hour 20 though!). Painful hamstring from half way through but kept going and it's fine today. This morning did a cycle ride of 16k in 55mins. Quite hilly so felt challenging and from half way through got a killer headache, it almost felt erring towards a migraine headache only without the aura, not sure how I made it home. But I think it might have been my helmet was too tight as once I took it off within a couple of minutes it was a lot better. Week end calorie burn age of 1400cals :)

In good news my special padded cycling shorts really made a difference but I was still in a fair amount of discomfort so think I may also have to get a new cycling seat.

Have eaten a lot of calories and fat for lunch today (made nut burgers) but I feel like I've earned it a little.

Why, thank you for the Tesco tip, will have a look. Has the foam roller arrived yet?

Purpleraindeer · 03/07/2017 06:36

Hello!
Good news re the bike seat reastie.
Why - sounds like lower back tightness. I had the same. Try sitting and touching your toes, lying and putting legs on one side and arms on the other and glute stretches. You need to do it 2x per day at least and it will ease off (if it's anything like I had)
Am staying somewhere with no wifi Shock. So no streaming workouts. ShockShock went for a run yesterday. Had to borrow some workout clothes as have nothing suitable to actually be seen outside in. Nightmare.

Theromanempire · 03/07/2017 07:55

Morning all

Reastie well done on the exercise this weekend and glad the cycling shorts are slightly helping.

Purple I am impressed with your commitment to exercising even without wifi Grin

My weekend has pretty much been a disaster - both exercise and dietwise Blush Went for a run on Sat morning and only managed 3k as my Achilles started aching so I had to stop. Couldn't be bothered doing anything later with DH either. Then nothing yesterday as we were at a family party so lots of food and wine Blush

So, back on it again today - going to try and compensate and do the 50 minute core de force workout or one of the Bodycombat ones. However, the music is so quiet on the combat workouts - does anyone else find that? As it is all done to the beat of the music, I do find it hard when I can't even hear the music a lot of the time Angry

Reastie · 03/07/2017 13:29

Enjoying my day off work and workouts today by cleaning Hmm. Have been doing horrid jobs like cleaning the inside of the oven. A couple of years ago I tried to kon Marie (or whatever it's called) the house and did really well. To the point my bedroom is now pretty much always looking good, but haven't got the rest of the house to click yet and it's a constant mission of mess and dirt that I wish I could win!

Planning either combat or pump tomorrow.

Oh, and look away now if you don't want to spend any money. Sweaty Betty have a sale on! I've ordered a running rucksack (to take on holiday for general walking purposes as well as running as I assume it's built for lightness), Capri leggings, running shorts (although these may go back as they are lurid green), some headbands, and running socks. Oh, and a pair of pants that say they don't show VPL . Their stuff is pretty expensive usually but in the sale it's just about reasonable IMO and it is such good quality stuff that fits so well that I love what I have from there.

Thermo you're back in it today and that's the main thing. I'm not sure I've noticed the music issue with combat. Has it got the music loud option on the DVD menu? TBH we have no next door neighbours atm as the house is being sold so I just turn the DVD up really really loud the whole street can probably hear Blush .

Purple impressive dedication. I am hoping for running on my holiday too. I've also discovered in the local town where we are staying is a tandem bike shop where you can hire a tandem for the day and am debating whether to do this with dd on a child seat on the back and dh and I cycling but I'm a bit scared.

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 03/07/2017 14:38

reastie I don't use the DVD's Wink so there is no option for to change the music volume! Not sure if it is because I am so used to doing Combat classes at the gym where the music is so loud that you often can't hear the instructor that the music seems so integral to the workout to me and I don't like it not being like that Hmm

Anyway, I did CDF MMA Power workout and really enjoyed it don't need music for that hard work doing 12 rounds but a real achievement completing it with minimal modifying Grin

Off to check out the Sweaty Betty sale now... although I doubt there is much for a tall size 16 Blush

RiversDisguise · 05/07/2017 20:28

I love Combat. There's one on the bb combat workout series called Power HIIT that just destroys me. Has anyone else done it? It's only 25 minutes but I am asleep on my mat after the cool down half the time. I love it.

RiversDisguise · 05/07/2017 20:30

Psst combat music is crap IMO.... Cascade, Celine dion, etc. So I love the DVDs for that reason. In class there is no escape. Grin

Reastie · 05/07/2017 20:52

Oh God rivers I hate power hiit, it's so hard! I prefer the more usual easier combat workouts with punching and kicking to the likes of mc hammer. I have very bad taste in music and this always gets me dancing a bit Blush. That's the one thing I really miss with most bb workouts that I love about combat and pump, that they have songs you can sing along to. But then I guess music is so subjective that they could never do music that everyone agrees on.

I should do a combat class than in my living room though so the noise is loud enough at the gym to cover over my lose skin on my arms which makes a clapping noise when I punch Blush.

Thermo my sweaty Betty order arrived today but disappointingly most has already been sent back as it didnt look right. The shorts I ordered were like cycling shorts with lose running shorts on top but it just made my hips look huge and the running bag looked like a weird plastic beetle Confused . Plus, disappointingly the no VPL knickers ride up my bum and I'm sure will give me a VPL. I shall test them tomorrow with leggings and for a workout (at home so I'm not too uncomfortable!). Maybe I have weird shaped bum cheeks but they seem a bit tight on my actual bum but if I sized up they'd be ridiculously big.

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 05/07/2017 22:29

Oh i absolutely love the music used in combat, pump and attack Grin when the moves and the music really gel, it is bloody amazing!! Half my play list is random tunes from these workouts!

reastie sorry your shopping spree wasn't a success. I hate it when that happens plus I am shockingly bad at returning stuff

Did Ript Circuit this morning so back on track. So busy over the next few weeks, it is unreal!! Not sure how exercise will fit in Confused

whyhastherumgone · 07/07/2017 09:44

Took me ages to find this thread, it had fallen off the ones I'm on - so annoying!

The foam roller has arrived and it has already made SUCH a huge difference - great tip. I'm going to make sure I use it regularly.

I've been away for the week so everything has gone out of the window, and now I am ready to get back on it today. Heading out to get a good healthy shop in, going to start meal planning again and going for a gentle run today.

Reastie that's disappointing although the description of weird plastic beetle made me laugh - it paints a very vivid image.

Theromanempire · 07/07/2017 14:51

I'm not even sure what you do with a foam roller Grin I'm guessing they don't come with instructions Wink

Did Insane Abs this morning...my God, Shaun's wittering in his new workouts are beyond cheesy Confused today's offering was 'if you can hydrate your body, you can hydrate your life' wtf does that actually mean?? Hmm

Purpleraindeer · 07/07/2017 18:22

Hello!
Am having a crisis. On hols which is lovely but still no wifi so no workouts. Who knew there was anywhere in the U.K. With no wifi???
I've been for a few runs but it just isn't the same. I miss Shaun t Sad. He does witter some crap though doesn't he?

Glad you're all still on it. My six pack has gone. I think it's hidden under a layer of ice cream and holiday over eating Smile

TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 07/07/2017 21:26

You must be living a dehydrated life to ask that Roman Wink

Sorry your sports shopping was a washout Reastie so irritating. I just ordered some new sports crop top / bra things and they're too small Sad probably because I did my usual trick of buying a size 10 despite the fact I know in my soul I'm more of a 12 I got make up all over them too so I'll just have to drop a dress size instead of returning them.

Can you make your own circuit purple ? So do something like 1 minute burpees, jumping jacks, high knees, squat jumps and lunges, then repeat a few times? Apologies if you're super fit and that's an insult to you because you're more used to doing push ups using just one finger.

I haven't posted in a while, but I'm still T25ing, up to week 4 now. I've been eating badly this past 2 weeks though. But NO MORE! Tomorrow I'm going to start the quitting sugar programme again (I did it for 8 weeks earlier this year) and continue T25, maybe with a couple of yoga / pilates sessions thrown in too. I'm starting a new job soon which is 3km away, so I plan to walk at least 1 way every day (bus the other way, or walking if it's not too hot / cold / rainy / windy)

lljkk · 07/07/2017 21:58

There are videos (youtube) to show folk how to use foam rollers.
My husband does exercises that are excruciating (he says). I do same exercises & they feel like nothing. So guess I don't need a roller (!)

Reastie · 08/07/2017 15:16

So what are we doing this week end to hydrate our lives? Grin

My guess lljkk is you just have different areas that need the foam roller than your dh. I bet if you moved slowly over your body you'd find agonising areas.

Purple there's actually no wifi where you are at all? How do the people that live there cope?!

Did an 8.5k run this morning. Shorter than usual as physio said 8k max after acupuncture yesterday and I'm always pushing the boundaries! My physio is working (as a physio obv) for the athletes at the international athletic championships next week, I feel proud like she must be good!

A work colleague is trying to lose weight and I was looking at her lunch wondering if she'd got it all wrong or if I have weird logic. She had cut up boiled egg and salad vegetables and then a huge tub of cut up fruit for pudding. I'm guessing the equivalent of 4 portions of fruit she ate in one go. She said she was cutting out carbs but see to me eating that much fruit in one go will just give the body a huge sugar rush and when you eat, say, wholemeal pasta, you'd get longer sustained energy release as well as fibre. I know the fruit will have more vitamins but I'd guess eating them through the day as snacks rather than in one huge go at lunch rather than carbs is counterintuitive. Carbs in the body are broken down into simple sugars in any place (as are fruit). Am I really off the mark?

OP posts:
whyhastherumgone · 08/07/2017 16:13

Reastie I have the exact same question! I have cut out carbs before as I don't think my bodyburns them efficiently but if I don't eat them I end up binging because I'm hungry or just feeling constantly hungry.

That does sound like a LOT of fruit. I really fall down on diet and know it but Ive tried so many different things I'm sort of baffled as to what 'healthy' is now. Well done on your 8k I've been creeping up to 4km with the T25 workouts, so impatient to feel an improvement even though it's only been a week!
