New year C25K. Anyone care to join me?

So, new year, new me, etc, etc.
I've done C25K before, then a program up to 10k.
Although I found lots of it hard, it did wonders for my health and fitness and also for my mental health.
But, then I stopped. I can't even remember why now.
So, I'm back at the beginning. The advantage I have this time is that I know I can do it as I've done it before.
It's pissing it down here, but I'm going to go and do it anyway. Grin
Anyone else?

Good work! I did r1w2 today. Was going to go first thing but it was pouring down so went to the gym in my lunch break. Not as nice as running on the beach but fitted really well with my day. Also meant I didn't have to miss a day. Determined to keep to a routine and get to 5k

Ooh you get to run by a beach? Lovely! I live quite rurally and near a river/canal network so I'll always do running down there if I can! I just wiggled around the houses today though.

Just done w6d3. My best run yet, I really enjoyed it even though it was chucking it down with rain! I managed to run for just over 30 minutes.

Well done. Just finished W2r3. I get to run here

Oh that's beautiful. Are you actually running on the sand? Is it more hard going?

Sorry, meant to add this picture too, this is my view when I go down to the river...

That's gorgeous! Yes, I run on the sand. I run on the wet sand so it's pretty firm, I guess it is a bit harder going but it's too good to resist as it's quieter and prettier than running along the prom!

Ah, I found you all again. Welcome to the newbies, and the not so newbies. That beach looks lovely Vittys as does Weewillie's river. Running somewhere beautiful definitely helps.

Well I did week 8 and can (just about) run 5k (which was the plan...and I managed to achieve this before Whitsun). I quite like the idea of beach running (and I won't collapse in a heap after 100m these days).

I am still shocked that the plan worked (even if I did have to repeat a couple of runs and put my feet up for a few extra days from time to time).

Anyone else have a good run followed by a bad one? My run on Thursday was brilliant, I enjoyed it so much and felt like I could run forever. Today... not so much. My legs were heavy and it was just a slog from start to finish. It was warm this afternoon though, and on Thursday it was raining. Maybe I'll blame the weather...

Week 7 day 1 though 👍🏼

BoobieHolster · 22/05/2017 19:58

WeeWilly, I found the exact same recently in similar weather conditions to you!

I did my first Parkrun at the weekend while staying away with family, the first time I've managed 5k. I loved running among other people in a pretty setting, and having people to help set a pace for me, I just wish there was one closer to home!

WeeWillyWinkieFromEccles · 22/05/2017 20:47

Weird isn't it. You'd think running in the rain would just be miserable, and being able to run along the river in lovely sunshine would be great. Nope. I'm never going to moan about having to run in the rain again. I'd prefer to run first thing in the morning but I have to leave the house for work at 7:30 so running would involve being out by 5:45/6am at the latest, and I'm just not a morning person.

Well done for doing a park run Smile I did my first one a couple of weeks ago. I came about 7th from the back but it was fun! I'll do it again this Saturday I think. At ours they do a junior park run on a Sunday, it's 2k. My 5yo has been wanting to give it a go so we took her along to it. She had to be cajoled around the second lap but she did it! We'll see if she wants to do it again...

W3r1 for me today, had to go early eve but prefer to go in the morning if I can. It was a bit fresh & breezy but on the plus side, this was my view

Anyone still here? I did a Race for Life this morning and it was great! I managed it in 38 minutes which was my PB so far. All my running to date has been with that as my goal, so now I'm going to keep going, go to regular parkruns and try and get to under 30 minutes.
