Toostressy sounds like you've got your hands full with work and young ones! My DN is 2 and a half and my Dsis has to manage workouts with her climbing all over her and saying she needs her potty (potty training) in the middle! I keep telling her to video it as I'm sure it's a common theme with toddlers!
Do you plan your weeks exercise or just go with the flow?
It's just me and DS at home and we don't get in until 6.30 so by the time he's eaten and I've cleared up and done laundry I'm ready for bed, oh and helped with the mountain of homework he gets!!
Early mornings my only chance but I'm rubbish without 8 hours sleep

OublietteBravo · 05/01/2017 19:05

NMTZ for me this evening.

Time: 3h 55min

Metafit class tonight

3/247

DeliciousIrony · 05/01/2017 19:58

30DSL1 and 10 mins hula hoop today.

Wildernesstips · 05/01/2017 20:52

3km walk today (bringing weekly total to 10km) plus 45 min Pilates. Never done it before (used the NHS fitness video) but my back feels amazing!

LordPeterWimsey · 05/01/2017 21:16

Pedometer shows 11,000 steps, and I haven't done anything dramatic today - it counted my JM workout as only 580 steps Angry because most of the moves don't involve stepping, and the rest of it was just walking DD to school and then going to and from the Tube to get to work and back. It suggests that I'm more active than I think just in day to day life, which is cheering. I'll wear it on Saturday too and see what weekend days look like.

Aiming to bike to work tomorrow - the forecast is coooold but not below zero, so with ski mitts and moon boots I should be OK.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/01/2017 21:23

Hi everyone, no exercise but did manage to get some proper weights so will be able to do the DVDs a bit better now.

sailing, yes very common theme with toddlers! I absolutely have to plan my exercise or I don't do it - I don't enjoy it enough to want to go so I have to make myself. Like a lot of parents I know, I simply can't sacrifice sleep - I wouldn't get up early enough and am too tired in the evenings to exercise (do very occasionally go for a run). I am currently sacrificing enough sleep for studying which is proving far harder to fit into life than exercise!

So I've sacrificed free time instead. I plan to exercise Mondays straight after school run (DVD in the hope that DD2 will let me get on with it - am usually interrupted at least twice. If I can't get the DVD done I go for a run while DD2 is at her activity - hate this as lose my sitting drinking coffee on my own time so am pretty motivated to get the DVD done earlier! I have one morning to myself per week - very lucky to have that I know so I go for a run or DVD depending on how my ankle feels (can't run too much on it). Weekends I plan to go for one run while DH around. Will have to fit in something extra this weekend too as have to go and see my tutor tomorrow morning so no time to exercise. Sorry for long post! Very impressed by everyone's achievements!

KanyesVest · 05/01/2017 21:49

Noooooooo! I just typed out a long reply on my phone then managed to delete it! So, short recap:

  • great that the thread is so busy!
  • I love seeing everyone's different targets and preferred exercise; it's really inspiring
  • I did a very fast for me 6.5km in 40 mins tonight, so yesterday's rest day really paid off.

Total: 21.8km

sailinggirl1780 · 05/01/2017 22:47

5k run this morning bringing weekly total to 23.9
Hopefully more tomorrow but my left quad is not very happy so making running tricky. Must get back to doing some hiit too. School run on Monday so getting in as much as I can. Have a weekend of ferrying DS to footie training, then footie match and two cricket matches (indoor), trying to be super organised so I can fit everything in! Any tips greatly received!!
Great to hear how everyone else is doing Smile

randomsabreuse · 05/01/2017 23:10

I have proved that I am rubbish at multi-tasking exercise. Making bread (well proving and baking what the breadmaker did earlier) is interesting combined with 30 day shred l1, 30 day fat burn leg and butt shaper and maintenance yoga.. it is what Paul Hollywood would call "overbaked" but will hopefully be ok. Have seen worse at our local supermarkets!

Happily today was a rest from my abs challenge - so no sit ups today!

Push ups - can't do proper push ups for shred but working on them in the 30 day challenge. Not getting all the way down byt further than I used to. Maybe I am improving.

As my initial aim is January, 4/26. Still struggling to pin down my main aim for the year. Maybe it should be an autumn half...

RJnomore1 · 06/01/2017 11:50

I'm ill 😟

Weights session with my pt this morning with the help of lemsip. Did ok too.

Away for the weekend now, planned hill walk tomorrow but Won't count that so until Monday I am

4/246

OublietteBravo · 06/01/2017 17:53

I'm feeling tired and achy this evening, so I'm having a rest day.

OP posts:
LordPeterWimsey · 06/01/2017 18:59

Biked to work and back (back was in the rain so I feel entitled to some extra points for that!). I must remember not to wear the pedometer on bike days: it registers an entirely random number of steps, though the number may possibly correspond to the number of bumps in the road. So I've done more JM than my target this week (5 workouts and a target of 4), but biked once rather than twice.

Planning a rest over the weekend, though I may do some yoga to try to stretch out my back. Back on it on Monday, when I won't have any choice about cycling because the Tube's on strike.

RJ, hope you feel better soon!

DeliciousIrony · 06/01/2017 19:55

Oh dear, everyone seems to be ill at the moment! Flowers

30DS L1 again today, plus the 10-minute Transformation pilates workout. Continuing to ease into the new year slowly...

OublietteBravo · 07/01/2017 14:46

I'm feeling better today. In fact I've just done NMTZ.

Went to a children's swimming party today. Only had DD1 with me so did as much sculling and treading water as possible and tried to do a tiny bit of swimming. No real cardio (pool too busy, had to watch DD1 and dodge the assault course of floats etc!) but definitely felt abs and arms working so think it counts as strength and toning and lasted 50 mins or so with breaks to dogge obstacles!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/01/2017 18:03

dodge not dogge!

randomsabreuse · 07/01/2017 20:31

With various rest days appearing (yay!) today was park run plus 30ds l1 plus squats, abs and push ups.

Squats are relatively easy so far (thunder thighs obviously partially muscle), sit ups are plain evil and push ups are difficult. Coming at it with a 2 pronged approach. Push up challenge is on does going down as far as I can (not very). 30ds is on knees and all the way down. Eventually I will manage a proper push up but suspect it will be some time!

Think I've found some aims for the year and DH is on board. Super jealous as his knees aren't good enough to run but on board!

Aim one lose 8kg to get under 75 kg.

Once done start stepping up running training towards half marathon distance for very local half in May.

"Toughest" mud run in August. Probably 10 miler...

October trail half marathon in north Devon. Allegedly it's a tough one with lots of hills (over 1000m of ascent!) so better get hill training!!!

Along the way will be some 10ks and lots of park runs. Plus a tonne of upper body strength for the obstacle race as it will blatantly involve monkey bars (which sadly none of our local parks appear to have!!)

randomsabreuse · 07/01/2017 20:33

Glad you're feeling better oubliette!

Sounds like exercise to me Too Stressy!

OublietteBravo · 08/01/2017 11:08

I've had a good morning. I managed to make myself get out of bed and do one circuit of 6W6P and Ri30 L1D2.

Snorfig · 08/01/2017 13:05

May I join? I'm a little late to the party.
This year I'm going to get my speed and distance up in running, exercise every day and see if there's anything that can be done for the world'a wobbliest bottom (even at my lightest, running 30 miles a week, it has the physical properties of a plastic bag full of angel delight).
Plan is: run to work and back 3days/week, do 30 day shred (started today) at least 5 days/week (pref mornings before kids wake -early alarm clock needed!) and one long run (min 6 miles) each weekend. That should tot up to 18 miles a week to start with, which is a big deal for this insecure ex-runner.
Once I've stuck with it a while I'm going to sign up for a half marathon, ideally for autumn, Peterborough probably, aiming for

DeliciousIrony · 08/01/2017 18:17

Hi Snorf, that sounds like a fairly impressive target, good luck! I am very envious of people who run, I've never had much stamina for it and the thought of running for more than a mile or so fills me with dread...

I have failed at doing anything this weekend, for which I blame the arrival of AF as I feel like complete shite and it's driven me to eat a whole Lindt chocolate bar (got to get rid of the remaining Christmas chocolate, afterall!). Hoping for a better week.

Snorfig · 08/01/2017 18:42

Some days you just have to write off, eat chocolate, and curse the hormonal rollercoaster.

randomsabreuse · 08/01/2017 19:41

Done a run today. Time beyond dire due to severe navigation fail by me. Phone conked as I was wandering around aimlessly waiting for it to lock on to work out where I should be. Route scouted for next week - will be long slow run route for a while I think, ignoring the hills. Last bit will be good for hill repeats if I start in the other direction...

Decided I'm not doing 30 day shred as have run today but will do 30 day fat burn as that is only 10 minutes and is called total body shred. Trying to limit impact and avoid over training...

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 08/01/2017 20:00

New to thread, hi.
Just easing back into runs after a back injury has seen me out of it since July last year though have managed a fair bit on the bike.
In a moment of madness I have signed up for Tough Mudder in July-so that's my aim for this year...
