Hello all, 30DS yesterday. Think I need a change, any similar JM DVDs? Did a fun run with kids today while DH did half marathon. Stuck in car park for an hour and 40 mins. Ridiculous and has put DC off any more runs. Can't say I blame them Angry.

LordPeterWimsey · 19/03/2017 16:11

Hi TooStressy, Ripped in 30 is a very similar format to 30DS (though I think rather harder). Can't think of any others that are in exactly the same format, but the 'Killer' ones are good - I have Killer Abs and Killer Body.

I always thought 'fun run' was an oxymoron!

And I'm in the team! Possibly going to Greece in October to compete.

😬

DeliciousIrony · 19/03/2017 18:05

Congrats RJ!

Stressy There are loads of JM workouts, most are about 30 mins long though, so a bit longer than 30DS. I quite like 6-week 6 Pack and the Killer Body series. There's also her '10 minute transformations', which I think has 5 10-minute workouts so you can mix and match to your heart's content.

Oubliette Majorca sounds ace, have a lovely time.

I'm plodding on, had an unscheduled rest day yesterday (does Segwaying count as exercise??) but I will be joining you with week 9 by Tuesday LordPeter!

I don't know if I've just had too many 'off' days, but I don't feel like Body Revolution has done much for my body, whereas I definitely felt a difference doing a mishmash of other JM workouts before Christmas. However, I'm sure it's about to get a lot harder in phase 3, and then I will be straight onto Bodyshred. I probably just need to drink less wine at the weekend!

KanyesVest · 19/03/2017 21:51

That's great RJ, congratulations!

I just managed 6.5k and it actually felt OK. Very relieved.

OublietteBravo · 20/03/2017 19:07

Congratulations RJ Star

I had a rest day yesterday because my back was niggling. It obviously worked - it feels great today.

I've just done Ri30 L4D5 and half of 6W6P. I think that's Ri30 done. Maybe I need to pick a new workout.

Kanye well done getting your running going again. I had quite a lazy week last week and as a result I feel better this week - all the little things that were hurting have gone away.

So I really really enjoyed my kb coaching tonight. Came home starving and buzzing, put my Spanish chicken and little potatoes abd paprika cauliflower in the microwave to heat up and the bastard microwave blew up with my dinner in it.

Starving and cross.

LordPeterWimsey · 20/03/2017 21:41

Congratulations, RJ! Great news on the team. Sorry about your dinner though.

Body Rev workout 9 done. It was a real effort tonight - feeling really tired at the moment. And I'm dreading workout 10 tomorrow. Delicious, I'm not finding it's doing much for me either, but I haven't really stuck to it properly for any length of time since Christmas - at best I have two good weeks and then everything goes to pot again. I'm hoping if I really keep at month 3 and then move straight on to Bodyshred I'll see some improvements.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/03/2017 21:44

Oh no RJ Angry! Is the microwave completely broken? Your dinner sounded lovely. Congratulations on getting into the team!

Thanks for all the JM tips. Will look at 10 minute transformations I think.

Did 25 mins of some kind of mish mash made up routine of my own today this morning at home with DD1 (who doesn't usually see me jumping about) asking what on earth I was doing Grin.

KanyesVest · 20/03/2017 22:43

Oh, I don't know if I'd be more upset about the dinner or the microwave, RJ!

We have gale force wind and snow warnings this evening Hmm so I did a 30min barre ballet thing from YouTube.

randomsabreuse · 21/03/2017 15:19

Made it out for a run last night with no ankle ill effects. Just under 5k with running club. Was slower than I hoped though - probably not surprising to be fair. Need to geab another 5k tomorrow then I'm sort of on track for my half marathon. Rest of exercising is pants though - not enough hours in the day!

Kettlebell fitness tonight, bit of a killer class but I felt good if that makes sense.

Still mourning yesterday's lovely dinner, tonight's is stirfry

OublietteBravo · 21/03/2017 19:34

BFBM for me. I'm feeling very tired. I think I need some carb. I'm going to have crumpets Smile

Body Rev workout 10 done. Bleaurgh. To be fair the second half isn't so terrible, but the first is the pits. DD didn't help: she decided to come and join in and cheerily announced that rock star jumps with weights are dead easy and look, she can do them faster than the people on the DVD...

KanyesVest · 22/03/2017 18:34

My eternal quest for an interesting exercise class continues...I'm waiting for a beginner's fencing class to start!

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2017 20:11

Couch to 5k with my god daughter tonight. Week 5...running down the shore in an arctic wind which whipped my breath away. Yuk.

Kanye, come try Kettlebell sport 😬

randomsabreuse · 22/03/2017 20:38

Fencing is great. Very asymmetric but great fun. Used to be quite good at sabre in my 20s! Main thing to remember is hit the other person not their sword!

OublietteBravo · 22/03/2017 21:01

Ive always rather fancied fencing. I'm trying to pursuade DD to take it up (she already runs, swims and rides - I'm thinking modern pentathlon).

I did NMTZ this evening.

Fencing is actually a good sport at any age - plenty of people have won veterans medals taking up the sport in their 40s or later. It's not massively physical like tennis and is very tactical too.

Pentathlon epee is different as it's one hit for one minute so is a bit cagier at the start nut we do get some of the pentathletes on the fencing circuit.

Pony club tetrathlon seems to be the main way in in the uk - other countries get swimmers and train them in the skill sports.

KanyesVest · 23/03/2017 10:31

Fencing was fun, although I was the only actual beginner, so I didn't score many points! Planning a 6km run this evening if the horribly wintery weather ever ends.

RJ, I've used kettle bells before but only as part of the cross training Bootcamp I used to do (we also did Olympic lifting, battling ropes, plyometrics, boxing, cardio). I miss that class Sad

RJnomore1 · 23/03/2017 10:38

Ah but there's kettlebells then there's Kettlebell sport...Grin

Your bootcamp class sounds my type of thing. I'd love to try fencing too. And archery actually.

OublietteBravo · 23/03/2017 19:04

Ive had a cardio day - so BFBM. I think tomorrow will be a rest day - we're all going to see DD in her school play.

Body Rev workout 9 yesterday, and 10 today....LordPeter - it's definitely a step up, isn't it! Bloody weights for all the plyo moves, and rock star jumps in the warm-up...let's hope this final phase pays off Smile.

RIP to your microwave RJ Flowers

And good luck to Oubliette's DD in the play!

RJnomore1 · 23/03/2017 20:01

Metafit night

98/152

Happy to report my new microwave is installed and going strong!

KanyesVest · 23/03/2017 22:33

I don't think I'm dedicated enough for exercise at all your kind of kettle bells regime, RJ Grin. I loved the class, it was a great mix and really nice people. Unfortunately it all fell apart when the gym was bought and our trainer's lease wasn't renewed and there are no similar options around.

Random, the fencing coach (master?) was telling us about veterans competitions last night. I've 2 years to practice before I can qualify Grin

Calves were a bit tight after all the squatting last night but I did my 6km and felt ok with it. Going to have to dig my foam roller out.
