For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

Well done littlemiss I get pain there too so have been doing lots of stretches and bought resistance bands and its better. Second what Kanye said about your lacing. I've changed mine since Anklegate and its much better.

I'm feeling great today thanks. Ran for an hour and no pain. I was really struggling to breathe on Thursday and felt like I'd really lost fitness but today was much easier.

Well done on the class Kanye and on cycling Ski. I can't ride a bike!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/05/2017 19:32

I can't ride one either Shortaris!

Great about today's run. This time next week your 10k's going to be over & I'll be gearing up for mine!

How does the lacing work?

Pinkvici22 · 21/05/2017 20:14

I did 10km today! Took me just over 70 mins, running then walking, but I did it!!!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/05/2017 20:15

Well done Pink!!!

littlemissM92 · 21/05/2017 20:26

Great pink!

SkiBike007 · 21/05/2017 21:25

That's fab pink well done.

I didn't get any running in this wend it didn't fit in with the family with DH out of action, so planning to cycle to work tom instead as he can do the school runSmile.

Pinkvici22 · 21/05/2017 22:09

Thanks everyone! I need to build up the running so I can run for longer intervals but I also think I need new trainers.

KanyesVest · 22/05/2017 22:51

Eek 2 weeks today to my 10k and I've just struggled through 6! Someone lie to me and tell me it'll all be ok 😱

littlemissM92 · 23/05/2017 07:34

Kanye it's not a lie u will be ok it's exactly how I felt and it was fine a race is such a different atmosphere than running on your own or with a mate

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/05/2017 07:43

Kanye, it's likely to be 25 degrees when I do mine and there's a fair chance I'll be on the first day of my period.

I'm telling myself it's getting round that matters.

Zippyzulu · 23/05/2017 12:23

Well done on the 10k pink!
Kanye I feel exactly the same- I still haven't run 10K in total and have my run in just a few weeks. Doesn't help that I am going on holiday for two weeks and it'll be too hot to run (I hope!). I managed a short run and tried pacing myself to run much slower than usual, sticking to around 6.15 minute kms and I felt like I could have gone much further so hopefully if I train lots more like this I will manage the 10K without stopping. If I can do it in just over an hour I'll be happy Smile

I replaced my shoelaces with elastic toggle laces and it really helped the ankle problems I have having, along with some sports massage on my calves. I still need to be careful to keep them fairly loose and if I twist my ankle in any way it sets me back for a few runs but I'm hopefully on top of it now...

KanyesVest · 23/05/2017 16:16

Thanks guys Blush. short, this race was my first ever 10k two years ago so I'm telling myself the spirit will return!

Empress, I hope I'll be on day two or three (depending on what my cycle decides to do this month) so I'm hoping I get the burst of energy that sometimes comes with it. And that I don't eat all of dd's birthday cake the day before Blush

Zippy that's interesting about the elastic laces. I have to leave the lower part of my laces quite loose or my feet go dead so I was wondering if the toggles would be too tight. Good to have a go to strategy for managing your ankle though.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/05/2017 16:35

Happy birthday to your DD for the weekend, Kanye and good luck!

I've got £1,800 riding on this (so far) and my friend's husband will be at the finish line so it's not like I don't have incentive. If necessary I'll channel those Tampax adverts (though NOT to the extent of running in tiny white shorts) & ask him to hold up chocolate.

moutonfou · 23/05/2017 17:51

Hi all I'm doing my first 10k in 2 weeks too. Have been comfortably running 5k but have only really just started increasing my mileage - did around 7k at the weekend with a few stops which was alright, and then just did 8.5k without stopping (at 1:05:00 10k pace) which was really not alright! Felt nauseous after and hips complaining a little. Will rest till the weekend now.

Does the increased mileage get easier after a while? I keep telling myself 5k used to feel this awful and now it feels fine (unless someone throws a hill into the mix!)

littlemissM92 · 24/05/2017 08:54

A slow 6.7 this morn so humid and couldn't get rid of a bastard stitch Angry

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 24/05/2017 09:31

It really does get easier, mouton. But I for one had to recognise that when I started running further it wasn't realistic to run so often, if that makes sense? I do a max of 15k per week, with gym workouts on the other mornings, & that seems to work.

Good luck with your 10k!

Hope the stitch has gone now miss.

SkiBike007 · 25/05/2017 19:41

Did an hours run this morning Smile got out at just after 6am it was beautiful run along by the sea stunning morn. But it was getting hot already. Argh, sorry, I forgot I name changed for another thread Blush

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/05/2017 22:22

Grin Great name though Kanye! How are you?

KanyesVest · 25/05/2017 23:17

I'm fine but extremely lazy! And in total denial about this bloody race and if I hadn't posted about it here I'd be finding an excuse to bail! But I did run around the garden having a water fight with the kids for half an hour this afternoon which was more fun than exercise Wink

How are you feeling about yours? Hope it's not too bitter sweet Flowers
