For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

Good luck silver for your race Monday Star

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 13/04/2017 20:59

I'm going to try the stamina podcast tomorrow. Have fun camping!

littlemissM92 · 14/04/2017 08:35

We moved house yest so I am shattered! Going to definitely run sat or sun find a new route from new house and about 7k on mon with the person I'm doing the 10k with next weekend argh!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 14/04/2017 10:41

Bloody hell that podcast is tough! Doing the final 2k downhill is a great idea. I finished it sweating buckets and clashing violently with my bright pink top.

The tips on technique were useful, especially the ones about moving feet in a cycling motion & doing short quick steps.

Miss, I use an app called New Route to plan routes out on maps and save them. I have a whole library of them now!

SkiBike007 · 14/04/2017 17:46

Did it help though empress? I quite enjoyed it plodding along saying 1-2-3-4 in my head Smile the lady seemed to kick in with her technique tips each time just as I was flagging Grin
Hope the new routes are good littlemiss and you feel settled in your new home soon.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 14/04/2017 22:06

Second best time so yes!

I'm going to do a 10K on Easter Monday & see if it's made a difference.

littlemissM92 · 16/04/2017 08:44

Thanku :) 4.8k 33min not too shabby! A week today .. I'm scared why Isit that I wish it was doing it with all you strangers instead ?! Smile

Random question but do any of you wear a bra under your sports bra or can recommend a good sports bra that you can wear alone ? X

littlemissM92 · 16/04/2017 08:56

I wonder if any of you live near me Wink

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 16/04/2017 08:58

I'm in London. Don't know on sports bras, I'm small enough I haven't bothered with them so far.

PossumInAPearTree · 16/04/2017 09:05

I'm a d cup and have this bra. bra

Controls my norks ok.

chopchopchop · 16/04/2017 10:22

I'm out in the south west.

I'm also considerably bigger than a D cup (one reason why I've never run until now). I went into Bravissimo to try on sports bras and came out with this. It's fierce - so much lycra that I can't do it up behind my back - but works. Until now I used to wear a sports bra over a normal bra, but this does the job on its own and nothing moves.

I did a v slow 5.2 k on Friday. Was going to go out this morning but have had a terrible night's sleep, so will go tomorrow instead. Then it's a few days in Paris, so no running at all!

littlemissM92 · 16/04/2017 11:22

Possum do u wear a bra under it? I'm a d also and they absolutely kill if I don't wear bra under my current one x

PossumInAPearTree · 16/04/2017 11:58

Don't need a normal bra as well.

SkiBike007 · 16/04/2017 20:21

I'm much bigger than D and wear £40 shock absorber on its own now and find it's ok. I have also worn granny style crossover bra with a less compressive sports bra over the top but found the band part rubbed too much. You can get this anti bounce band thing as well which sits across but I've not tried it but someone on the other thread linked it for me when I was struggling to find the right support.

Hope the Easter 10ks went well for those out today. I didn't run as it was too hilly here but did walk 5miles up/down today and yesterday instead Easter Smile

KanyesVest · 16/04/2017 22:33

For bigger gg boobs, Women's Full Cup Plain Sports Bra, Grey, Size: 32E [[www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005X5GUYM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Sg-8ybK1WQH2C?tag=mumsnetforum-21 panache]] is brilliant. It's tight on the band but almost zero bounce. Certainly worked for my 6k this evening BiscuitBiscuit Grin

Good luck with tomorrow's race, silver!

KanyesVest · 16/04/2017 22:35

Oops, link fail. It's the panache under wire sports bra with racer back clip.

Silvertap · 17/04/2017 06:43

Thanks for the good wishes for today's race!

I'm nervous - although I have Agnes to run 10K in my training it was on the flat and with music. There's no earphones today and lots of hills! I've been sponsored over £500 to raise funds for our village church so that should help me plod along!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 17/04/2017 06:48

Walk the hills if you need to, Silver. Good luck & let us know how it goes!

littlemissM92 · 17/04/2017 06:51

Good luck silver just take tiny fairy steps up the hills and you'll be at the top before u know it that's my top tip. Why no head phones ? X

Zippyzulu · 17/04/2017 08:06

I'm so glad I've come across this. It's lovely reading all the success stories.
I did the c25k and am regularly running 5k now. I do parkrun every week and manage it in around 28 minutes and try to mix it up with a longer run and a shorter speedy run through the week; I've signed up for 10K in June and am panicking that I'm not progressing as much as I could/ should. I tried to bridge to 10K app and just couldn't get on with it so been trying to do it myself but the longest I've managed so far is 7.8k. Going to attempt 8.5 today along a tow path (i.e. Flat!). I find it hard to fit in enough time to run further than 5k and my treadmill hurts my ankle so I can only go out when dh is here to look after the dc.

Hope everyone enjoys the bank holiday!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 17/04/2017 08:20

Good luck Zippy!

I think most of us here have gone off-piste with the app. Seriously impressed by a 28-min 5k, that's FAST!

Silvertap · 17/04/2017 08:27

28 mins is v fast.

Love the idea of fairy stepping up the hills!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 17/04/2017 08:31

I'm off for a 10K along the river soon. I'll be thinking of you, Silver.

SkiBike007 · 17/04/2017 09:26

zippy your 5k run time sounds fab, I've not got under 31mins yet Smile I set myself targets before I go out & deliberately run one way half the distance I need to cover so I do 4K one way, if I'm aiming for 8k total which forces me to do it Grin even if walking but pride makes me run mostly... I use strava to help pace myself. I've only hit 8.5k so far as illness & avoiding injury have slowed me down so I'm working on running comfortably a solid 5-7k at the moment.

SkiBike007 · 17/04/2017 09:27

Good luck empress it's a beaut day in Devon, hope it's nice in London.
Good luck silver may your wings help you fly up hills Grin
