For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

Great run reastie fast timeStar

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 27/01/2017 13:40

Good one Reastie!

I find doing the stretching as soon as I've finished helps.

I took a random day off work and I've just finished my 2nd 10K too Grin.

1hr20 so not fast. But plenty of breath, legs are fine & it's 10 mins faster than my first one. I'm happy!

Biking007 · 27/01/2017 21:09

That's brill empress great run you should be fine for your charity 10k Star

Alas I'm all snotty with headcold so no running but I just looked at my step counter on my phone and I've logged 16,000 steps today! The car had to go in the garage so I walked too/from there and kids run around for activities it's soon clocked up todaySmile

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 27/01/2017 23:05

Cheers Biking Wine. I'm giving myself the weekend off now!

Poor you, though 16,000 steps is great. Hope the cold goes away soon.

KanyesVest · 27/01/2017 23:17

You definitely deserve a weekend off, Empress. Well done on the 10k, that's a great time.

Hope you're on the mend soon, biking.

Biking007 · 29/01/2017 17:17

Got a 6.3k in running in the drizzle this afternoon took a different route with bit up and down and my puff was feeling it as I'm still recovering from this cold but it was good to get out after a week off.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 29/01/2017 17:28

Thanks Kanye! How's the swimming going?

I know what you mean about getting back out, Biking. Look after yourself though.

Archduke · 30/01/2017 01:34

Hi all, I'm moving from the C25K group to you guyz!

I've loved running and am ready to go a bit further I think - although very gradually! I did my W1R1 today and will aim to run Mon/Wed/Sat. I'm trying to find a local running group to hang out with but it's not easy, there doesn't seem to be much locally. So am running with friends/Parkrun on Sat and by myself.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 30/01/2017 06:16

Hi Arch! Welcome!

Biking007 · 30/01/2017 16:52

Hi arch sounds like you doing really well. I've been little derailed of my "plan" last week with a cold so my goal of 7.5k at the weekend didn't happen, but I was pleased with a wet 6.2k. Now my DD is off school poorly so as I'm housebound I dug out the old Shred DVD and was really pleased I found it a lot easier than a few months ago as my stamina is a lot better Smile

KanyesVest · 30/01/2017 22:36

Hi all, just popping in to say hi. I got very ragey at the pool this evening (I officially hate people) and I can't wait until I can join you all running again!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 31/01/2017 08:12

What happened, Kanye?

KanyesVest · 31/01/2017 13:28

Oh, sorry, that did sound quite dramatic, didn't it Blush Grin. It was fine really, just people who don't follow swimming lane etiquette got me very cross last night. My bad mood has rebounded in me as a cold though, so that'll teach me Grin

AnnettePrice · 31/01/2017 13:50

Hi all, good to see your all doing so well.
I've had a break for a while due to a few things.
I'll need to do the last bit of the c25k but hopefully I'll be back here soon.

Biking007 · 31/01/2017 13:51

Can you experiment with days / times that you swim? I found the pool busier on mon/wed/ but super quiet thurs eve?! I hate lane etiquette and much happier with only 1-2people or on my own in a lane Grin
Gosh my legs hurt from the Shred DVD lunges today!

Reastie · 31/01/2017 15:47

I'm having to bow out from injury. Unfortunately done something to my knee and strict instructions no running, not sure how long for but I am very miserable about it. Good luck everyone.

Biking007 · 31/01/2017 16:27

Good luck reastie hope you can heal soon. It's miserable when you can't get your fitness hit. Will swimming help? kanye has hopped over to the swimming for fitness thread also due to injurySmile I'm trying to mix it up abit as I'm nervous about injuries after a bit of a shit year last year.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 31/01/2017 17:47

Welcome back Annette.

So sorry Reastie. Stay in touch though!

Reastie · 31/01/2017 17:50

I'll be swimming and static biking for a while but have to have a steroid injection soon for my shoulder and will be able to do no exercise after that and then gradually bring some in bit by bit as injury recovers. I'm so down about the whole thing. I workout pretty much every day and I'm so scared if I stop I'll start putting all the weight back on again that I've lost :/ I know how easy it is to get out of the habit but hoping I'll be back and fit at some point in the coming months.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 31/01/2017 18:11

You know what you've achieved though & if you've done it once you can do it again.

Archduke · 01/02/2017 02:58

Oh Reastie that's so sad. Injuries are shithouse. Would some Bikram Yoga be possible? You do sound (understandably) miserable. I hope the injuries heal sooner than expected.

I've just done W1R2 of 9 weeks. 2 x 10 min jogs and 1 x 3min tempo run. It was great, I managed most of it although had to walk a bit mid first 10 min jog as was so puffed out going up hill. So clearly I need to improve my stamina.

I've been trying to find a local running group but to no avail, so have set up my own Thurs nights with some school mum friends. Hopefully we can keep in going and not let it fizzle out.

Archduke · 02/02/2017 10:54

Did W1R3 tonight, was a bit shit. Legs felt really heavy and I had a bit of cramp in my calf. So slow and hard work.

When does it get easier? I feel like I'm getting less fit Confused

Biking007 · 02/02/2017 17:07

Some are easier than others arch but it's not getting easy Grin I just know I can do it more. Some days are good some are tough just chalk it up to one of those tough ones and have a rest for a couple of days and I bet your legs will be all springy again Smile

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 02/02/2017 17:16

Two days running Arch? Maybe take a day or two to rest in between?

I went to see a friend in the Cotswolds today & we did a 5K. It was my first hilly run & my first run while chatting. We walked some of the hills & didn't track the time, but it was good fun.

Biking007 · 04/02/2017 08:49

Had too much Cake & Wine last night after a week off running but I got an early 6k in this morning. it was flipping hard work with slug legs it felt like the whole wayGrin hopefully i can go out again Monday and up the distance abit more. I have done the Shred DVD a couple times this week but the lunges have really made my legs sore!Shock
