Come and join us in our attempt to do 30 min exercise as often as possible.

Set yourself a target (e.g. 5 days a week, 20 days a month, etc.). Any kind of exercise counts: walking, running, swimming, cycling, dancing - or any other activity that expends energy.

Hello I'm starting my Octoberthon from Friday 30th if that's all right! If not it's okay. Ran on treadmill at gym on Friday, got a bit mixed up with miles and km Blush but ran 5.6 km. Was working yesterday, went for jog this morning and legs felt like 2 planks of wood, don't know if we're still stiff from Friday so only did 3.7km. I also need a new sports bra with a lot of support, any suggestions? I would urge anyone taking up running to go to a specialist running shop to get fitted with proper running shoes. I've had plantar faciitis which wouldn't wish on anyone! X

Just been swimming with the children. I tried to tread water/ keep my feet off the bottom of the pool as much as possible and I got in a lot of oblique twists.

5k run this morning. Am wary of doing too much running as I have a dodgy ankle (old injury) but have got properly fitted trainers
at least. Do need to mix it up a bit though I think.

Will watch with interest for sports bra recommendations!

Hi stressy, posted on your old thread, have name changed (thisisplanetearth). Yes, would build up with the running to avoid injury, I'm up to 5 and a half km, sometimes!

Ah that makes sense Judd! Sorry if I have ruined your name change Grin.

No problem Stressy, just fancied a change! I got a good sports bra, more a cropped top from TK max but was in the other day and they only had extra small which is no use for me! Have looked at m&s online, they do some, might have a look there. Wink

1/15 for my October goal and another 5k done today, felt like hard work and my legs were stiff but I was actually faster than Friday, am now starting to get a bit obsessed with strava and my stats! Watched a half marathon in my city today and it was very inspiring, maybe one day... Can't help on the sports bra front sorry, the Nike crop top style ones are enough support for me! Swimming sounds good kanye was so hot here today that a swim would have been very welcome after my run!

Panache bra if you have any bit of boobage. Amazon usually has good prices for random colours.

Well done on the 5k daffodil. I have to cross train for a gammy hip, stressy, but I find it helps running and vice versa, so it makes it worth it.

Hello have jogged/walked 4.5km this morning and have been to a 45 minute thighs and tums class. So feeling a bit stiff!

Can I join? I started doing Jillian Michaels' Bodyshred DVDs earlier in the autumn, but hit a busy patch at work and lost motivation to get up in the mornings and crack on with them, and they are sooooo hard I'm now daunted at the thought. I've gone back to some of her other DVDs to try to get back into the exercise habit, and I'm aiming to start Bodyshred again before the end of this month. Did 30 Day Shred L2 this morning.

Hello LordPeter - welcome to Octoberthon. The more the merrier!

I'm also working my way through Jillian Michaels DVDs. Although I seem to be in a bit if a rut alternating between 6W6P and Killer Abs. I'm aiming to add NMTZ into the mix this week. It'll have to wait for a quieter evening though (Mon and Tue are busy).

So tonight it was Killer Abs L1.

(225/75) - or 75% of the way to 300 days Smile

Hello, LordPeter (if I maybe so boldly familiar Smile ), welcome to our merry band.

Well done Oubliette, another milestone.

Circuits tonight. Different instructor, different area of cardio based hell.

Thanks for the welcome! Just done Jillian's Killer Arms and Back, L1. Do-able but I felt I'd worked.

Oubliette, I doff my hat (an elegant one from Lock's, naturally). I only work out on weekdays.

6W6P L1 - I'm a bit worried I might be coming down with a cold. My head feels like it is full of cotton wool.

Hope you feel better soon Oubliette.

Well after a promising start I have been rubbish this week and did no exercise yesterday with my child free time. No time yet today as at work then busy with kids. Have stuff to do tonight but probably could find 20 mins.

Can someone give me some motivation please?!!

KanyesVest · 04/10/2016 19:42

I've just put the children to bed and then got into mine Blush. If I get up and go for a walk, Stressy, you have to do something too!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/10/2016 19:50

Thanks!! Just trying to get DD2 to sleep then will consider some exercise. All depends on how long she takes. Bed is a distant dream as I have some study to do anyway.

KanyesVest · 04/10/2016 19:54

Ah crap, I was hoping you wouldn't reply Grin Sadly no hope of me getting to stay in bed. I'm waiting out the inevitable toilet/drink/light on/light off/create-your-own crisis before doing some prep for tomorrow. (I'm starting a new job!)

Hope you get an early night Oubliette and you feel better in the morning.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/10/2016 20:38

Good luck in the new job! Have just done the first 10 min HIIT workout I could find on YouTube Smile. Was realistically the most exercise I would be able to get into today so am glad I did it.

Hi, did a 45 minute class this morning which is a mixture of high impact aerobics and toning. I need to use light weights due to a sore shoulder. Only thing about more exercise is I just want to eat all the time!

Report
KanyesVest · 04/10/2016 21:45

I got out too. A slow 4.5km but I tweaked my bad hip about half way round and stupidly kept going instead of walking back. Hopefully I was going slowly enough that it will be OK in the morning.

Hope you haven't hurt yourself badly, Judd. I had to use lighter weights at the body tone class last week because I've reverted to my delicate flowerness and lost what little bit of strength I had.

Report
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/10/2016 21:50

Oh dear Kanyeit is so tempting to keep going through isn't it. Judd I have eaten two pastries and two portions of lunch today plus a massive tea. Am always really hungry with any degree of exercise. Possibly explains the lack of toned abs!

Thanks Kanye I've had the sore shoulder for a while, fell off a stool! Have seen a physio, so just use light weights too. Toostreesy I'm the same with exercise, want to eat all the time. Will need to rein it in a bit, starting to enjoy the jogging (slightly!)

Morning all, hope everyone is feeling a bit better this morning (shoulders, hips and colds) Smile I've been feeling grotty too so missed my gym session yesterday and left work early to flake out - annoyed as I won't get there now this week (childcare stuff/work) not a great start to October! Feeling a bit better this mornjnf so hopefully I'll get out for a run tonight. Ha, too and judd with you on that - saw a funny meme thing on run mummy run the other day about the need to eat loads after running/exercise - 'rungry'!

OublietteBravo · 05/10/2016 20:18

I'm feeling a bit more with it today, although by the time is dealt with homework I couldn't face NMTZ. So I'm still alternating between my 'usual' DVDs. Which meant Killed Abs L1 this evening.
