I've signed up to do 10,000 steps a day in September with the Walk All Over Cancer event.
Anyone else doing this?
My kids have left home now so I don't actually have a school run to do.Its going to mean leaving the car at home , walking to shops etc if I don't make a bit of extra effort I won't achieve it!
All welcome to cheer each other on and get fitter.

7815 so far here despite dragging DH out for a walk at NT place earlier!
Will also be going out for a walk later if I can fit it in between supper and watching Hunted!!

Only 4100 so far here today. I'll be off out for a solitary walk once dd2 is in bed again. I roughly know how far I have to go to get 6,000 steps.

Bin85 · 22/09/2016 19:48

Gosh that's a lot MsMermaid.
I've been running round garden and hoping neighbours aren't watching from their bedroom windows !!!

Hello fellow steppers! I'm glad I've found you all! I've been pounding the streets since the kids went back, trying to shift the last bit of stubborn baby weight! DD is 10 months so I get a good long walk in in the mornings usually, although I'm worried how well I'm going to do once the weather starts to turn! I've done 16,703 steps today (5 miles). It's a beautiful sunny day so a nice brisk walk along the seafront. I use MFP to convert steps to calories so a nice Shepherds Pie tonight I reckon!

absolutelynotfabulous · 23/09/2016 16:52

You've definitely earned that Shepherd's Pie, mrst!

grandmainmypocket · 23/09/2016 17:36

Definitely earned it.
I'm off out for a short 20min walk. Not gone to work today so step count is 50. (Don't have fitbit and don't carry phone round with me at home). Aiming for 4000 by end of day but not in one go.

MsMermaid · 23/09/2016 19:03

I'm up to 9,000 steps today.

I didn't go out last night so my total steps yesterday was pathetically low Blush

I went for a walk after work today, which has helped a lot.

dollylucy · 24/09/2016 09:14

I did 20,000 steps yesterday
But I feel so low today
My friends keep sending me challenges and it just makes me feel so bad
I'm not going to continue with this if it makes me feel useless.

absolutelynotfabulous · 24/09/2016 09:26

20000 is great, dolly. Smile

MsMermaid · 24/09/2016 09:28

Lucy 20,000 is a LOT of steps. Are you feeling low today because you're exhausted? Are you eating/sleeping enough to keep your energy and mood up? I would ignore your friends sending you challenges if that is making you feel bad. I find challenges motivate me but everyone is different so if they don't help you, don't do them.

Bin85 · 24/09/2016 09:31

Yes dolly it's fantastic!
Come and be Fitbit friends with me if you like?!

Thanks
I haven't lost one pound, average 15k for 2 weeks now.
And I think I'm the only person who exercise doesn't energise.

dollylucy · 24/09/2016 10:10

I feel like I'm fighting losing battles on every side

grandmainmypocket · 24/09/2016 12:18

Sorry to hear that dolly. For the first 2 weeks I felt like a zombie. I think slow and steady is probably better.

Have you changed your eating habits? I've only been doing this since September 1st but drastically changed how I eat, still eating really well but differently. Some weeks I lost less than half a pound but I'm in it for the long haul.

dollylucy · 24/09/2016 23:08

I lost a stone early Summer, but put half back on with friends staying for 2 weeks and my own holidays, which is why I'm so annoyed with myself. That was just diet and no alcohol.
I need to get back in that groove, but just v miserable right now.

Bin85 · 25/09/2016 08:57

How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time!

Doing something is better than doing nothing etc etc

I am feeling better just trying to do this ( and I don't make 10,000 every day) I seem to have a more positive outlook towards stuff which was dragging me down and am shocked at how sedentary I had become .Please be kind to yourself and think positively about the effort you are making .Flowers

Is anyone using MFP? Maybe we could all motivate each other on there?

AuntieStella · 25/09/2016 10:11

I'm feeling a bit crap today (various things, but nothing I want to post about).

I think I'll have to go out for a nice long walk, for the fresh air, the change of scenery (and a nice large number of steps to report here)

Bin85 · 25/09/2016 10:15

Good idea MrsT1984
I did it for a bit years ago so could rejoin
I think that's what Clare Balding used
Isn't it a bit time consuming entering all the food though?

I'm up to 6,900 today already. But I have done 2 exercise classes so I feel a bit aggrieved that it's not more tbh. I may possibly have been over confident when booking as the second class almost finished me off, I'm not that fit yet. I'm getting better at the first class (Body Balance) as I can now do more of it without falling over I'm not quite sure how I managed to function in daily life with such rubbish balance

MsMermaid · 25/09/2016 22:40

14,712 in total today.

I won't do so well tomorrow though due to having to work :( I really enjoy my weekend where I can go out for a walk for an hour or so, then during the working week I find it difficult to fit in even 10 mins going for a walk because of all the other stuff that needs to be done.

grandmainmypocket · 30/09/2016 23:19

9300 today and 10,750 yesterday. But my monthly average dropped to 7500 because I was really unwell last week and I just didn't have the stamina to get out of bed.

October here I come (worrying about the rain). How's everyone doing?

Bin85 · 30/09/2016 23:40

Not very well at the moment.Have had things to get done at home and because of time constraints have driven when I should have walked.
Hoping to get back on track next Monday or Tuesday.....

Joining. I am in a very active job, today I did 17,389 steps! It's my lowest this week. My feet are swollen & very sore, need to invest in really good shoes.

The Fitbit is great but also having issues with the calorie thing. Also haven't lost any weight despite walking so far! Confused

grandmainmypocket · 02/10/2016 07:21

HI Lady. Welcome.
