NewYearathon

Happy 2016 everyone!

If your new year's resolutions include more exercise, come and join our little band of (almost) daily exercisers. The idea is loosely based on Juneathon, and you do some form of exercise most days each week (we take rest days too). The exercise can be whatever you like, swimming, running, DVD/ gym classes, yoga, stretching, etc, but we post here to keep motivated and encourage each other.

Our previous threads are Octoberathon and Juneathon

I'm planning to get out for a short run later today, fingers crossed it stops raining at some point!

I tried out the strength circuit from 1 Week Shred this evening. I think I prefer the cardio circuit.

No gym for me today after all, too much to do round the house. Did trimming very overdue hedges and mowing lawns instead Grin My shoulders will be aching tomorrow.

KanyesVest · 20/04/2016 20:39

Sounds like a great upper body workout Sirona!

Thanks for the replies. I've a couple of very sporty (much more than I am) friends who I've asked about their energy around their menstrual cycles too, but it doesn't seem to impact too much on them so I wasn't sure if it was just another of my pmt symptoms.

I was at bootcamp this morning and think I tweaked something in my aductor/groin so I'm going for a walk in a few minutes to try to stretch it out. If I write it here I have to do it...

Busy day tomorrow, so I'll be walking to and from a lunch meeting and to dinner with some friends. I don't think I'll have time for a run, so I'll be working around myself!

I squeezed in a short Jillian session (6W6P L1) before taking the DC to see the local calibrations for the Queen's 90th birthday. The beacon was a bit understated, but DS liked the brass band and DD enjoyed the fire jugglers.

OublietteBravo · 22/04/2016 19:35

I just finished NMTZ. I must have been taking it easy of late - the hand weights felt really heavy!

(94/206)

KanyesVest · 22/04/2016 21:06

Well done Oubliette. My arms are sore this evening too, lots of battling ropes and shoulder presses at the gym this morning. Can just about lift my wine glass tonight...

OP posts:
Sirona · 22/04/2016 21:37

Jealous Kanye, what a cross to bear Grin Would love a wine right now but none in the house and can't be bothered to go to the shop. Take it the abductor is ok now?

We had beacons, brass bands and fire jugglers here too Oubliette

Wee 3.5 mile run today, followed by lots of physio stretches for my back. Been told running is ok but to stay away from weights, kettlebells, bodyweight etc until it feels better. Left me a bit of a loss what to do on non-running days as I'm not keen on the faff of swimming.

OublietteBravo · 24/04/2016 09:55

I had a rest day yesterday. This morning I've done NMTZ. Time for a shower and then coffee I think.

(95/205)

KanyesVest · 24/04/2016 19:41

Unexpected rest day for me yesterday (dh got dragged into an unending work quagmire) so I got my run in early this morning and managed a whole 5km - whoop, whoop! It was slow, but I got there.

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 25/04/2016 20:28

Well done on the 5km Kanye - especially in the morning (as you know, I'm not really a get-up-and-exercise-in-the-morning kind of gal) Smile

I've just done the cardio circuit from 1 week shred. I'm feeling suitably sweaty - it must be time for a shower.

(96/204)

KanyesVest · 26/04/2016 17:38

Thanks Oubliette. Tbh, I need to get back into the habit of morning exercise, I find it so hard to motivate myself in the evenings. So much so that I didn't go to boot camp last night. I just couldn't face it. I did go for a 5km walk though, which brought my step total to a respectable 13k for the day. Today is a rest day, but I'll get in 10k steps (at nearly 9k now) and I'll do my core routine when the monsters are in bed.

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 26/04/2016 20:07

I still find my motivation comes and goes. I'm managing to exercise most days, but I very rarely do two circuits (which pretty much used to be my default). Party not having the motivation and partly just not having the time.

This evening I did 6W6P L1. I should hit 100 exercise days for 2016 later this week.

(97/203)

OublietteBravo · 27/04/2016 19:56

This evening's circuit was NMTZ.

(98/202)

KanyesVest · 27/04/2016 20:34

Boot camp this morning. Arms and abs very sore. Considered a walk or run tonight but it's bloody Baltic here, so I'm wrapped in a blanket around a hot mug.

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 28/04/2016 21:06

I'm glad my exercise doesn't involve going outside. It hailed whilst I was doing circuits this evening Shock

Killer Abs Level 1 completed.

(99/201)

KanyesVest · 28/04/2016 22:01

Yeah, mine was supposed to be outside this evening for a run...the rain, hail and sleet made me rethink and wrap myself in a blanket in front of the fire instead! Blush tomorrow is another day.

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 29/04/2016 19:57

We've been lighting the fire in the evening too. At this rate we'll be continuing to do so into May. The weather is weird this evening - we have heavy and very localised showers. It was absolutely tipping it down at one of the roundabouts on my way home, but totally dry and sunny once you got 100 yards down any of the roads leading off the roundabout.

Anyway, I digress. I have actually just finished NMTZ, and hence my 100th day of exercising in 2016 (by my calculations we are 120 days into the year).

(100/200) Grin

KanyesVest · 29/04/2016 20:06

Wow, Oubliette, great work! Do you feel it has made a big difference?

Fire lighting here again tonight, but for the babysitter's benefit. We're going to a school parents' social night. I would much rather stick pins in my anything than go out in the cold and rain (we are having the same showers with added sleet fun) to talk to people I see for 10 mins a day. Dh says I have to go and fake sincerity Grin

Arms and abs again this morning. Lots of press ups, kettle bells and a really hideous set of sprints dragging the instructor by a resistance band. Never felt so close to throwing up, and I hadn't even had breakfast!

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 30/04/2016 19:16

It is difficult to tell if it has made a difference. I certainly feel fitter than when I set out to do Juneathon, but then that was 11 months ago Shock. On the other hand, I totally gave up on tracking what I was eating - my diet could certainly be better.

Today is my last exercise session before my holiday (I have to get up at stupid o'clock tomorrow). I did 6W6P L1 (with the evil ab circuit from NMTZ added in).

(101/199)

KanyesVest · 02/05/2016 23:54

Hope you're having nice holiday, Oubliette. I'm not at all jealous Envy

I was feeling really unwell on Sat so spent the day in bed. Recovered enough by yesterday to have a longish walk (4k) to/from/around the park. The DC managed it too, with bike and scooter, which was great. Today we had a walk around a bluebell forest with the grandparents. I was feeling a bit tetchy after the day with the in laws not getting out much over the weekend so I had a short run this evening after we got home.

OP posts:
KanyesVest · 04/05/2016 20:36

Rest day, and working late, yesterday. Really tired and my head is full of hayfever cotton wool, but I dragged myself to the gym tonight. Very glad I didn't run, it was hiit circuits. Not sure what I'll manage tomorrow, dh will be away and DD is on mid term so I'll have to be creative!

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 05/05/2016 22:16

The holiday was lovely. It was nice and sunny and warm.

I had 4 days off exercising. Back today - 6W6P L1.

(102/198)

KanyesVest · 06/05/2016 16:57

Sounds like a lovely break, hope you're well rested. I'm going for step count yesterday and today as with dh away I can't get to gym or out for a run. 10.5k steps yesterday, 7.5k so far today, will get to 10k by bed wine time. Run tomorrow when he's back.

Happy weekend, everyone.

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 06/05/2016 20:52

A slightly longer session this evening: NMTZ.

Very much looking forward to the weekend - sounds like the weather will be good Smile

(103/197)

OublietteBravo · 07/05/2016 14:05

Today I decided it was best to exercise before it got too hot - this seems to have been a wise decision!

I did 6W6P L1.
