Happy 2016 everyone!

If your new year's resolutions include more exercise, come and join our little band of (almost) daily exercisers. The idea is loosely based on Juneathon, and you do some form of exercise most days each week (we take rest days too). The exercise can be whatever you like, swimming, running, DVD/ gym classes, yoga, stretching, etc, but we post here to keep motivated and encourage each other.

Our previous threads are Octoberathon and Juneathon

I'm planning to get out for a short run later today, fingers crossed it stops raining at some point!

Thanks Oubliette and glad your ankle is feeling better. I take it the numbers are the days you have done and target?

Meant to say best of luck for your third run of this week comeagain - that's the big 20 minute isn't it iirc?

Did biceps and triceps last night as I couldn't be bothered with a big sweaty session but found it a bit too easy, need heavier weights as mine are light. Long run today. Tomorrow is kettlebells class but I've had a bit of a sore back the last week so will see how it is in the morning.

OublietteBravo · 06/04/2016 20:48

I only had a limited amount of time this evening, so I did a 30 min abs circuit.

OublietteBravo · 08/04/2016 19:15

Yesterday was a rest day. Today I've done 30DS L3D14 & 6W6P L2D21.

I'm going to consider them both finished for the moment (I've done 42 sets of 6W6P - which equates to 6 weeks). Not sure what I'm going to do next...

comeagainforbigfudge · 09/04/2016 10:02

I could cry. Not managed any other runs so far this week due to my shifts. Which is fine. Id planned my runs for this weekend.

Had physio for my back yesterday. On tge way there i only went and turned my ankle didnt i?!! Going to not run on it this weekend and if it survives being atood on all day on monday ill do a test run on tues.

But how bloody stupid was i! Just as i was almost starting to enjoy it Grin

OublietteBravo · 10/04/2016 10:20

I seem to have lots of niggling injuries at the moment too. This weekend it is my foot (which has developed a small, sore lump on the sole).

I rested it yesterday and I've done a low-impact abs circuit today.

OublietteBravo · 11/04/2016 20:16

I'm feeling better physically today (although mentally I really had to make myself exercise). I did NMTZ - which seems to be something of a default circuit for me at the moment.

I have a new set of Jillian DVDs on their way to me though Smile

(84/216)

OublietteBravo · 12/04/2016 20:33

New DVDs have arrived Smile

I had a go at Killer Abs Level 1, which seemed OK.

I considered KBFF, but I struggled so much with the tutorial that I decided to wait.

comeagainforbigfudge · 12/04/2016 21:35

Oh you are so good at this exercising lark Oubliette wish i were half as motivated

My ankle seems to have held out well in work. Hoping to do a trial jog tomorrow. Test it properly.

I went to my first pilates class tonight. Was "easier" than i expected. My core is sooooooo weak though and i expect i'll really feel it tomorrow Shock

OublietteBravo · 13/04/2016 19:34

I'm not so much motivated as pig headed. I'm quite good at making myself do things I don't really want to do anyway...

Today I had a go at the first level of Hard Body. I think it will be OK once I get used to the tricky combination moves. I'm certainly OL with the cardio and tha abs stuff.

(86/214)

Sirona · 14/04/2016 09:24

How did you find it the next day comeagain? I did pilates a few years ago and the next day I ached from head to toe. Wasn't able to keep it up as they changed the day it was held but enjoyed it. I sometimes do yoga but don't like it half as much.

I've also been on the injury bench with a bad back. Managed an easy run yesterday which was great after a week of rest. Going to try another small run today.

comeagainforbigfudge · 14/04/2016 10:28

sirona my hips were sore Sad we were using rollers so i think everything got rather stretched. Probably more than its ever been in its life Smile

Decided not to do my jog yesterday because of that. Will force myself out later today. I say force because i feel rather lazy today. And its not even half 10! Yaldi!

comeagainforbigfudge · 14/04/2016 19:01

I went out. W5r2 done. I probably sgould have started w5 again but i just went for it. Was a bit uncomfortable to start but once everything loosened off, i was ok.

When i say ok, i mean i finished it Wink
Just physio exercises & some more stretching once DD is down for the night

OublietteBravo · 14/04/2016 22:29

I was feeling a bit sore today, so just did a low-impact 30 minute abs circuit.

(87/213)

Sirona · 15/04/2016 08:38

Well done comeagain. I've been running for a couple of years now and still hate the beginning of a run until I get into the swing of it.

Went for a run yesterday and ended out much longer than planned as the sun came out and for the first time this year I was able to strip down to my vest top, it was so warm.

Not sure what to do today. Back still a bit stiff, don't want to push it running or with anything high impact. I might find some sort of Pilates to do as I'm wanting to concentrate on stretching today.

comeagainforbigfudge · 15/04/2016 19:57

Shock i "ran" for 20mins!! w5r3 in the bag. But oh it was hard. Ankle/foot was absolutely fine. Theres a short steep hill on my route. Almost at the end, nearly did me over.

Im so so slow though. Pace is about 6.5km/hr. No idea how to speed up.

Signed myself up for a 10k in june. Want to complete in a respectable time. Any hints or tips will be greatly appreciated

OublietteBravo · 15/04/2016 22:39

I had a go at the cardio circuit from 1 week shred - it was hard work!

(88/212)

OublietteBravo · 16/04/2016 19:56

Back to abs today: 6W6P L1

(89/211)

KanyesVest · 16/04/2016 20:43

Erm, hello everyone. I think I'm back (after my recent massive failure). I had a bit of a meltdown after my last post, got slammed with work, home, etc and my leg made a serious break for freedom, but I've been hitting my physiotherapy hard and walking a lot, and have clocked up a full week of something exercise based every day for a week, so I feel I can start to join in again! I even managed a 20 min run this morning, so I might tag along with your training, comeagain, if you'd like the company. I'm aiming for a 10k in June too, but since I'm about the same pace as you, I can't help on speed.

OublietteBravo · 16/04/2016 20:50

Hello Kanyes - good to have you back! Smile

Sirona · 16/04/2016 21:03

Hi Kanye, don't 'know' you as new to thread but sorry you've had a hard time of it lately.

I didn't manage specific exercise today, back still niggling a good bit but did a good walk with dd. Once she got fed up walking after an hour, pushing a 3yo in a buggy uphill is bound to count yes :)

comeagain absolutely fantastic for the w5r3 - and uphill at the end too, respect. I still remember how daunting it felt (and how awesome you felt when you did it). For my first event of a certain distance, be it 5/10/whatever I never set a time on it, just go to enjoy the experience and finish it. Gives you a good base time to work on beating for next time too.

KanyesVest · 17/04/2016 22:01

Thanks for the welcome back Blush. I managed an hour playing football, well dd's newly invented scooter-bike-ball, with the kids, and I did a full 4km (slowly) without stopping followed by my core routine. I'm feeling better than feared after it all.

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

OublietteBravo · 18/04/2016 20:32

I had a rest day yesterday. I'm still exercising somewhat aimlessly at the moment (in that I have no particular plan or focus right now). This evening my motivation was OK, so I did NMTZ.

I'm on holiday at the beginning of May, so I think I'll just continue as I am for the moment. Once I'm back I'll try and have a proper goal again.

(90/210)

KanyesVest · 18/04/2016 22:02

Holiday sounds like good motivation, Oubliette! We've just booked for the first week in July, already looking forward to it.

I did a lot of walking with DS today, and ran the 2km to bootcamp. It was a hideous class so I had a lot of recovery walk breaks on the way back, but I still managed to average out the pace at quicker than yesterday's run, which is still slow, but good.

Sorry if this is tmi, but does anyone find their hormones/periods really screw up exercising? I got my period yesterday, and although I have the merina so almost no bleeding any more, I feel like lead all the time. I have it on the ever growing list of things to talk to the gp about whenever I get around to making an appointment, but I'm curious if it's a common thing and how others deal with it. Feel free to ignore if you'd prefer Blush

OublietteBravo · 19/04/2016 20:23

Killer Abs level 1 this evening. Some of the moves still seem really strange, but it is nice to have a new abs circuit.

(91/209)

In answer to your question Kanye - personally I find my motivation is particularly low in the couple of days before my period. The first day of my period is hard, but after that it gets better again. I don't know whether it is hormonal or psychological or a combination of the two.

Sirona · 19/04/2016 20:46

Yep Kanye, especially first day or two of my period, I find exercising absolutely exhausting and every minute feels like a real struggle even if I've been training well the days before. I tend to cut myself a bit of slack and go easier and shorter those days now.

I haven't been exercising as much as I would like to lately with my back but did a 15 mile run today. Furthest I've ever gone. It was too gorgeous a day to turn down being out in the sun. Might go to the gym for a spot of cross training tomorrow, will see how I feel in the morning.
