New thread for an (almost) new year, and almost exactly a year since the start of the original thread!

whilst there are obstacles where upper body is important there probably aren't so many that it's worth doing loads of training for it. In my race the upper body ones were so hard that most people did the burpees - even the hardcore regular racers. So, my advice is to train for burpees!

If you want to fit in more insanity work outs why don't you substitute one of the short mid week runs for an insanity - I'm sure the Hal Higdon schedules say run or cross train anyway.

I'm struggling today. Have a cold, both kids ill so was up a lot last night. Mentally want to do a workout tonight, but also just want to go home for a sleep ....zzzzZ

Can't do 9 Feb boobz. I'd need to leave at 6am and I don't have childcare until 7am. Enjoy tho!

Boobz · 23/01/2016 07:44

Had pig out yesterday. So today is Max Interval Circuits as a punishment.

Purpleraindeer · 23/01/2016 16:04

How was the punishment boobz?
The thought of you gritting your teeth thru max interval circuit made me haul my sorry work out gear on and do p90x3 warrior. Urgh. Was not feeling it. Up cleaning up sick at 2am last night. Shock.

yumyumpoppycat · 24/01/2016 15:01

Hi Everyone

Purple hope you are all feeling better - totally impressed that you kept on exercising Star

Boobz I might see you on the fasting boards a bit more as I am trying to cycle my calories a bit and eat a bit less sugar and toast etc.

I had a diet and exercise fail last week but did p90x3 accelerator today. Crikey its a hard one, I made less noise when I was in labour with 9lb dd1!!

Boobz · 25/01/2016 10:49

Glad I inspired you Purple! Weirdly the Max Int Circuits were not too bad, but I did Cardio interval plyo yesterday, which is only a month 1 vid, and it nearly finished me off! The Level 1 drills going into running on the spot in ski abs and then in/outs. I was wailing all through it - DH thought I was dying!

Sorry you can't do the 9th - will miss you.

I didn't eat well YumYum on Thurs - Sat, so I fasted with DH yesterday and am back on the Zone diet today. I don't want to undo all my German clinic good work! I am still aiming to get down to 50kg by the Rome marathon in April, but am a few kilos off that at the moment.

But am feeling fit with the running, if not the Insanity - such different types of fitness aren't they?! Did my 3miles training run today, and followed it up with P90X Ab ripper X, so about 45 total work out. Tomorrow is 7 miles.

Sushi for lunch. Yum.

Purpleraindeer · 26/01/2016 07:56

Hi poppy - I can't remember what accelerator is like. Might give it a go tonight as its a p90x3 night tonight. I ached for 3 days after doing the challenge last week so hope you're not too sore today

Boobz- same thing happens to me with workouts. Ones which were OK one week are then impossible trials of will the next week. I always find that a bit disheartening. Glad the running is going well. You must be ergonomically designed for running - if I had done as much mileage as you as quickly as you have id have been injured by now. I guess the mix of insanity and running probably helps too.

Grim few days here. We all got the same sickness bug. Urgh. Am over the worst but still feel nauseous like permanent morning sickness. Felt OK last night so did tabata power. Shoulders are now ruined from plyo press ups. I totally nailed the 1min power jumps tho Grin

Purpleraindeer · 26/01/2016 07:57

On the bright side tho - I did lose 0.5kg just from being ill. Smile

Boobz · 26/01/2016 10:47

Bonus Purple! I put on a couple of kilos since Germany clinic, but have taken one of those off again now, so am starting to feel like I can still eat and lose weight, rather than having to fast for the rest of my life! I am still a lot heavier than I was this time last year, but I love how I am feeling with all the running (why did it take me so long to get back into it?!) and am starting to get the hang of Insanity again. I think the mix of Insanity and running is going to be perfect for me - I just wish I had time to do Bikram yoga as well!

Sorry to hear you haven't been well though - that is miserable.

Ran 7 miles today, felt easy peasy. 4m tomorrow then 10 on Friday, cross train all weekend and then next week ends with a 15 miler - the furthest I will have ever run I think!

Fullsteamahead · 26/01/2016 16:09

Hi girls, sorry been very busy. I'll try and read over the last couple of pages later.

A quick update:

21 day fix extreme done

Current weight is still 64.5 kg 😭😭😭😭😭😭 but starting to feel like a human again.

Started T25 yesterday. I LOVE Shaun T, I feel like I've been reunited with a long lost relative!!!

Didn't really enjoy 21 day fix extreme except for Pilates with resistance bands and yoga both of which were very good. It was a good starting point in getting back into excersise though.

Hope you are all well, like I said will try to catch up on what's been happening later.

Kisses to all. 😘😘😘

Fullsteamahead · 26/01/2016 22:05

Hello again, just had a read over. I'm amazed with you all!
Crazy running, assault courses, working out after cleaning sick during the night and while feeling ill - you all totally rock!!!!!!!!!!

Boots and Purple, the pics are brilliant, thanks so much for sharing, you are inspiring!

I've been very busy with baking, it's going well. I've not got my own bakery yet but will hopefully get there one day. One good thing is that I've eaten so much bread in the last few months that I've sort of gone off it, so that definitely helps with the new healthy routine 😜😜😜

I'm planning to do a Moon Walk in Edinburgh in June, I know it's not running but think it'll still be a good challenge, 26 miles of walking should be fun 😁

Boobz · 27/01/2016 07:03

We all love a bit of Shaun T Fullsteam - I am about to indulge now. It's supposed to be my 4m run today, but I am going to do an Month 2 Insanity and Ab Ripper X double instead as I feel like I need to up my push up/burpee count for TOUGHEST which is under 3 months away now.

Fasted yesterday - feeling light today! Then rest day tomorrow and 10 miles on Friday. DH is away until Friday so I might be a super loser and do some work outs in the evening too. I am getting my terrible hair all cut off into a pixie cut a week on Monday (when I am next travelling to London - don't trust Roman hair dressers) and feel like I need to be as small/cheek-boned as possible as v. short hair won't work on a round face I feel!

So - writing it here so I do it: Max Interval Plyo and Ab Ripper X. Starting in 5 minutes.

A

Boobz · 28/01/2016 06:30

So I cheated a bit yesterday and did Max Cardio conditioning instead of Interval Plyo as I realised I had a con call and needed to work out quicker, so I will do Interval Plyo and Ab Ripper today instead of rest, and the 10 miles tomorrow as planned.

Back down to Germany clinic weight so must keep up the good work!

Boobz · 28/01/2016 07:58

Ok, now I remember that Max Interval Plyo is the one with the million bastard push ups. Jeez. My chest is going to hurt tomorrow. Had to do a lot of them on my knees. I know this time last year I could do all the press ups without missing any/going to knees - I can't imagine that now - I must have been nails! Argh - this is going to take a while... (dripping in sweat and still have Ab Ripper X to do now before shower!)

BRING IT

Purpleraindeer · 28/01/2016 15:19

Good work boobz!
Your press ups will come back fast I bet. If I was you I'd drop one of the short runs in the Hal Higdon and do insanity instead. You won't lose anything from not running and it will give you some upper body stuff which you want for toughest. has you hair gone back to normal now? You hear stories of people going a different colour or going curly or something post chemo. Hope life is feeling normal again now you're back at work.

Nice to see you full steam. I love that you just nonchalantly post that you completed 21 day fix. Bloody well done - it's an achievement to complete - and we all just passed 'give up Friday' when most people stop their New Years resolutions so well done us ! StarStar good to see you back with Shaun t. Do you have to do training for moonwalk? In my head I think it's just a walk, but then 26 miles is a loooong way. Fun tho.

Rest day for me. Did p90x3 leg work out on tues and then was dying through max30 Friday fight last night. I always think of Sarahlouboo (where are you Sarah, hope you're ok?) when I do Friday fight - there's a horrible bit at 17mins with burpees and every time I think 'this is impossible' thru gritted teeth!

Boobz · 28/01/2016 19:49

It's Sarah's 40 sometime soon I think - she wanted to look fab for the end of Jan for her birthday - come back and tell us about it Sarah!

Purple I have already done what you've suggested and dropped the second short run for a month 2 Insanity + ab ripper, as I think you're right - it won't make a huge different to my marathon time but it will give me a better toned bod and arms for Toughest.

My hair is AWFUL. Am getting it cut at Trevor Sorbie's on Monday 8th into some kind of pixie cut. I bet I look like a twat.

I know what you mean about the this is impossible bit - I was defo feeling that trying to do 96 press ups in 3 rounds today!

How is the fasting going yum yum?

yumyumpoppycat · 28/01/2016 22:11

Fasting going ok Boobz am doing the 800 cal blood sugar thing. Haven't eaten since lunch am marving ... how did you manage it for 10 days Shock Only reason I haven't eaten since lunch is that I picked bacon avocado chicken salad when having lunch out during work and the calories on MFP could be anywhere from 400 - 1000!!!!!! I hadn't thought about cals in dressings. Had a quite nice breakfast though, leftover butternut squash mashed in an egg and fried like a pancake topped with some humous and fresh corriander - under 200 cals.

Bet your hair looks great in a pixie cut. I have long straggly witch hair but my face and nose are very round so a short cut not really an option...painting a great picture here aren't I ;)

Good work on completing 21 day fix thing fullsteam!

Hi Purple, Jackster and everyone else, hope sarahlou does come back for birthday update.

I might dip into my dvd collection tomorrow and find a workout I haven't done yet to motivate me.

Boobz · 29/01/2016 06:56

I managed it because I was in an institution where you couldn't cheat!

Let us know which pot luck DVD you found...

So I have created my own Marathon training/ Insanity/ P90X schedule (with some skiing thrown in for good measure). This takes me to April 10th and am on Week 9 at the moment. 10 miles now - woo!

Beachbody Thread 3 (Insanity, T25 etc)
Boobz · 29/01/2016 08:41

10 miles done. Pooped.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/01/2016 13:07

Wow that is an amazing chedule Boobz!!

I did workout 1 and 2 from this dvd used my weights on max setting acc to my scales that is 6lb9 but that may be wrong. Used no weights for workout 2 but even then was no where near to completing. workout 1 is on you tube wk 1 The cool down was 8 mins Shock so only did 2 mins.

Have a great Friday night everyone Grin

Boobz · 29/01/2016 13:28

Sounds awesome Yum - back into the swing of things!

I have no idea if I can keep that lot up, but am prioritising health/fitness in Q1 and 2 this year as I felt cancer robbed that off me last year. So even if kids/work/DH take a back seat for a couple of months, I am going to get nails fit so I can FINALLY reach that goal of 50kg and 15% body fat! (If I ever buy a SKULPT to measure the body fat..)

Purpleraindeer · 29/01/2016 17:46

96 press ups boobz ShockShock that's madness! One of the p90x3 work outs has 8 rounds of press ups and you set a target to do the same no per round. My target was 15 (set before I realised how many I'd have to do in total). Needless to say I did not quite achieve it! And my arms ached for days.

Poppy - any chance I could tempt you into a p90x3 challenge week? We could each pick 2 of our fave p90x3 work outs and then do them all over a week?

Good work on the fast. The only way I could fast is by giving myself food poisoning first!

Purpleraindeer · 29/01/2016 17:47

Argh. Massive cross post. Will come back later.....

Purpleraindeer · 29/01/2016 18:11

Poppy your DVD collection is unbelievably extensive! Glad you found something to do. Am going to try to do a workout tonight. Am normally terrible at motivating myself to work out on Friday night, but there's a first for everything!

Boobz that is some schedule. Are there doubles on there too? This time last year my single focus was getting fit and losing weight and that focus really delivered and I'm nowhere near as single minded as you are. I bet by June you'll be applying to be on the cast of Shaun t's latest DVD!

Boobz · 29/01/2016 19:51

I've tried to be slightly realistic... only Ab ripper X in addition to a LONG run, or an Insanity month 2 with a shorter run (4m or less, say), and then P90X on its own as that's over an hour anyway, and then an INsanity and an ab ripper together twice a week (which means I have dropped one of the shorter runs, but that's ok).

So probably a bit hard core but I am on a role - I weighed in this morning at 53.3kg which is basically even lower than when I left Germany and I am not fasting so am mega pleased. I feel like I am getting somewhere finally so want to up my game to really get a sub 4 hour marathon/passable performance in Toughest!

Fingers crossed you do your work out!

Jacksterbear · 30/01/2016 09:58

Guys I am in awe of you all - you all sound like you're doing loads of hardcore terrifying stuff! Shock

Have finally managed to shake off the worst of the sinus infection, although the cough has lingered. Angry

Have had a BB week so far: 1x PiYo (strength intervals), 2x Turbofire (HIIT 20 and Fire 45) and1x Hip Hop Abs (Total Body Burn). Have not managed to get to gym for 2.5 weeks for various reasons, but hopefully will make it later today.

Happy weekend all. x
