New thread for an (almost) new year, and almost exactly a year since the start of the original thread!

PPS, just checked, out of curiosity, the start date of the original thread: 9 Jan last year. We should have a virtual anniversary celebration next week! Grin

Thanks for the welcome everybody. Hope I stick at it long enough to keep on here.
I am only 5'2 so wasn't too light but doubt I'd get back to that now as was doing lots of sport then and now can't fit it in with two toddlers.
Will probably stick with the shred for now rather than starting p90 early as I am pretty unfit and weak at the moment, the shred seems difficult enough for me.
Hopefully though I will make good progress.
You all sound super inspirational, have you all followed the programmes for a long time?

Boobz · 03/01/2016 08:05

I think I have strained my vagina from doing the run yesterday? Is that even possible? It really aches.

Purpleraindeer · 03/01/2016 08:15

Your run sounds fab boobz. I can't believe you could just go out and run 10miles. That's amazing Star. I hope you're not too stiff today.

Jackster - sounds like you have 'runners knee' - is an imbalance in muscles on either side of your knee - very common. Yoga totally cured mine.

I feel exactly the same way I did this time last year - aching all over and really wondering whether I can exercise today. My return to max30 is killing me!

Boobz · 03/01/2016 10:44

Are you enjoying the return to Max30 Purple? Do you feel like you have really benefited from P90X3 or not so much? Tempted to do P90X at some point instead?

I also can't believe I can just go out and run 10 miles after 7 weeks off exercise (and tbh I can't remember the last time I ran more then about 7m - about a year ago maybe?) - was super strange - sometimes your body just works though, eh? I do feel still today but not nearly as bad as I thought I would.

What do you think the chances of me being able to keep up my run schedule whilst fasting?! Am supposed to do 3,5,3 and 7 miles next week, and 3,6,3, 12 the following week!

When you were doing your marathaons Purple, did you use a Garmin to measure your pace so you could aim for a time? My pace was very slow yesterday - 5.58s/km... to get a sub 4 hour marathon I need to keep it to 5.40s/km.... a lot of work to do me thinks, but hope I can crack it over the next 3 months.

Mamapants I did P90X in late 2012 (did the full 90 days and then went back to work), then started Insanity in about June 2014 and did it pretty much every day until I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2015. I managed to keep it up a little through chemo but not religiously. I've had a complete break for the past 7 weeks to recover from surgery, but am now back on it (running for the moment - I will reintroduce Insanity/P90X in about 2 weeks time when I have a bit of fitness built up from the running).

Insanity&Divorce - how are you doing?

Jackster did you start the original thread? I can't believe it's been a year - so much has happened... and I am a lot less fit than when I started!!

Fullsteamahead · 03/01/2016 16:22

Hi girls, your long lost buddy here! So sorry I abandoned you so rudely, I've been busy starting a little business which is far from healthy and didn't help with my exercise and healthy eating routine... I've started baking sourdough bread to order and have had to do a lot of tastings along the way!!! 😜

Anyway, I'm now probably back to my original start weight of 62 odd kg even though don't know for sure as the batteries in my scales have died! So back to square one!

restarting tomorrow and don't know whether to go back to T25 or to try Cize. Ideas please :)

Boobz, you amazing superhuman, huge congrats on your cancer free diagnosis! And as for the rest of you, I'm seriously jealous of your current weights of 57 kg!

So nice to be back here girls, off to order batteries for the scales now, will check back in little while. xxx

Boobz · 03/01/2016 17:30

Welcome back fullsteam - you have been missed! What weight did you get down to before you abandoned me on Day 8 of our P90X/Insanity hybrid?!

What is the business selling?

Purpleraindeer · 03/01/2016 18:33

Hi fullsteam! How lovely to hear from you. I was wondering how you were getting on today. Congrats on the new business - exciting stuff!

Now we just need poppy and only to come back on too

Boobz - re mara pace - I did have a garmin. I did all my runs except tempo run at less than mara pace. Long run especially should be v slow as if it's too fast it's difficult to recover in time to do next weeks mileage. It's weird running slowly all the time but it does work. I did most of my training at 9.30min miles then ran a sub 4 with a big negative split (in retrospect i was much too conservative and should have gone faster on the first half). Best advice I was given was to have 2 goals - eg best case, and Likely case as marathons can be v unpredictable. Sub 4 is a hard target - would have got you in top 20pc of field in London last year.

Am enjoying max30 again but it's hurting me! P90x3 was great for building strength and some muscle so I'm glad I'm doing it. I'd do p90x too but I'm worried the work outs are too long. I do them after work so start at 7.30pm so don't really want to do more than 45min work outs

That was an epic post..... Sorry! Have a good evening all Smile

Fullsteamahead · 03/01/2016 21:01

Hey,

Yes, I know Boobz, I'm so sorry! It seemed like I just suddenly run out of time for exercise and for myself really :(

I'm not sure what weight I was when I stopped, my scales packed in then, I guess somewhere in the region of 58 kg.

Purple, thank you so much for your warm welcome back, I know next couple of weeks will be very tough but I'm really looking forward to it!

I've had a good look at what's available and think I'll go for 21 day Fix Extreme to ease me back into the routine, it looks pretty good!

Batteries for scales are now on order now so will update as soon as I know my weight...sigh :(

Purpleraindeer · 04/01/2016 08:12

I like your style fullsteam - no easing back into it slowly for you! Grin

I'm hoping the first week is the worst. I'm aching like an old lady this am. My back is sore from burpees Sad

Fullsteamahead · 04/01/2016 12:48

OMG, that was bloody tough!!! And it's all my fault for being so bloody lazy!!! 30 min of Plyo pretty much killed me this morning and I'm already hurting! I had to have a five minute break half way through as I almost passed out! Feeling great mentally though, first hurdle is done 💪💪💪

Jacksterbear · 04/01/2016 13:35

fullsteam! Welcome back . I was thinking about you the other day, while looking back to the original thread (it was started by poppy, Boobz) and thinking which of us are still around! Tell us about 21 day fix! Are you doing it on VK?

Purple - runner's knee! Yes! I googled it on seeing your suggestion, and yes, that matches absolutely. Good to see there are exercises I can do to help sort it; had resigned myself to putting up with it, unless I paid for physio etc! So, thanks. Flowers

Strained vagina, Boobz?! Ouch! Hope it's eased up a bit now?

Body Attack class at gym yesterday - it is similar to Insanity for leaving you with that slightly nauseated, jelly-legged feeling! Grin

Insanityanddivorce · 04/01/2016 17:09

Going good. Push up jacks can go to hell though

Insanityanddivorce · 04/01/2016 21:31

Day 5 in the bag (one day off for new year hangover and one day of for spinning - really helped to loosen my legs up I think. Plus I love it)

This is right up my street really hoping I can stick the 60 days (well maybe over 70 or so) even getting temped by all your talk of the other work outs for afterwards. Dare I say the aches are beginning to subside....

You all sound amazingly fit, and well Boobz; hats off you are inspirational.

I do think I need to buy some cross trainers though (all mine are runners but never mattered so much as I did a mix of things) any recommendations?

As I said, insanity was my xmas present/house selling/divorce/can't get to the gym as much challenge - and well I've already managed to sell the house before even getting it on the market for a lot more than I thought I would! So much for using Insanity to get me through the time whilst I was waiting for the house to sell! Just busy time now juggling divorce solicitors, house solicitor, eyeing up a shiny easy new bovis home for me and the tiddlers 😄💪 I will try not to get sidetracked.

Happy new year

Loungingbutnotforlong · 05/01/2016 11:37

Happy new year everyone! - going to join you if that is ok. So I started focus t25 yesterday- day 1 alpha. Never done a beach body programme before, but secretly always yearned to Grin
family holiday to Florida in April, so I am very excited to get on with it!
Have a great day everyone.

Fullsteamahead · 05/01/2016 13:37

A quick check in to say hi.

Jackster, so fab to be back! Thanks for the welcome :)

Yes, I've found 21 Day Fix Extreme onVK, did a plyo workout yesterday which was great, I can hardly walk today from all the jumps. Lol. But for some strange reason the workout I was meant to do today wouldnt load on VK, so I had to resort to doing an Upper Fix from the original 21 Day Fix which was too easy... Also did a 20 mins ab workout. Feeling ridiculously unfit!

Welcome Insanity and Lounging!!!

Boobz · 05/01/2016 18:33

Day 1 (of 11) of my fasting clinic in Germany... ran 7m on the treadmill in the gym - feel great.

Fullsteamahead · 05/01/2016 20:23

Great stuff Boobz!!! Well done you! What's your calorie intake on your fasting clinic?

Purpleraindeer · 05/01/2016 21:19

God boobz. 7m on the treadmill - that's mental toughness. I've never managed more than 4! How are you feeling on the fast. Am really interested in what the effects are after I read that article in the times a few months back.

Did tabata strength tonight. Omg. 1min of power jumps at the end. Evil. Shock

Jacksterbear · 05/01/2016 23:17

Body Pump @ gym today. God I am such an upper body weakling. Shock

Excellent work all. Sorry no individual name checks. Tired and off to bed! x

Boobz · 06/01/2016 11:08

Am at the Buchinger Wilhemi Clinic on Lake Constance. Am loving it - no meat/caffeine/alcohol/nicotine at all for 2 weeks, and 300 kcals a day during fasting days (I'm doing 11) which is mainly made up of an apple juice and vegetable consume in the evening. Am attending medical lectures, having massages, running lessons from the PT team, psychotherapy counseling, facials etc., as well as yoga, meditation, excursions to nearby towns and daily woodland hikes... I have never needed something more and I am so grateful to my DH for making me come! Hopefully the fasting element is also helping banishment of cancer but we shall see.

I ran 3m on the treadmill this morning and then did Insanity Cardio Abs (30 mins) so a bit like a Barry's bootcamp! I am supposed to run another 3m tomorrow and then 7m on the Saturday, as per my Higdon training schedule... am hoping I can keep up these energy levels despite fasting!

Welcome Lounging.

yumyumpoppycat · 06/01/2016 11:17

Happy New Year everyone!! Sorry for going awol! Helllloooo Fullsteam hooray you are back and v exciting about your new business. Also welcome welcome to the new starters Grin

I am trying to desugar myself after christmas and get the house a bit sorted so not back into beachbody yet but defo will soon, almost looking forward to some cheesy Tony and crazy ShaunT! Weight wise I am prob back where I was so TBH I think this year I am going to just have to go more hardcore with diet get the weight off as a health priority, then up the beachbody exercise.

Purple I don't know why mfp said I had been logging in every day...mfp mobile apps are spooky it deleted loads of photos on my old phone, but better features than PC mfp so not going to uninstall it just know.

V inspiring those of you who have adopted exercise into life to the point there are no excuses on holidays etc....would like to be like that one day.

yumyumpoppycat · 06/01/2016 11:18

sorry 'just now' not 'just know'!

yumyumpoppycat · 06/01/2016 11:21

Oh my goodness Boobz, I posted on your other thread but that update sounds amazing!

mamapants · 06/01/2016 13:12

The retreat you are on sounds fantastic Boobz.
You are all very inspiring so am reading regularly to keep me keen. Have been looking through the p90x set which has now arrived. And am on day five of the 30 day shred and going well so far, although don't seem to get to do it until about 9:30. How do you guys fit it in? Am worried about fitting in the p90 as they are all about am hour long.
Am also wondering what equipment you all have. Do you have calipers etc for body fat measuring or scales? And measuring heart rate etc? Any resistance bands you can recommend.
I have weights some 1kilo dumbbells and 2 kilo ones, and dh has a full set of heavier ones, have yoga mat and pull up bar and finger boards. What else is essential?
