New thread for an (almost) new year, and almost exactly a year since the start of the original thread!

Good work on weight loss and double eleanor, I am out for drinks tonight too.

Only maybe chalean extreme would be worth a look probably less twisty than turbo fire - I havent tried it yet but it has more weights which I think you like? its also £20

Were you tempted by any bargains Caitlin?

I have asylum and have never tried it but might join in for the craic! only a couple of times a week max though as will involve furiturm moving from what I have read on the reviews.

WELL Boobz and Roastie are you having me on?! Pure cardio was really hard!! My face went like this Angry so now I am even more worried about asylum. Going to go with Jackster's suggestion next time Wink

Boobz how was your dh's cake making - sounds like a challenging design, my dd2 (youngest) will be 6 in oct and it does seem old -she's my baby! Well done on 800 for a week, there is a meal idea thread which is good as shows how much good stuff you can eat for 800 cals. Michael Mosley reccomends slim people only follow it for 2 weeks then move to 800 2 x a week and mediterranean diet the rest of the week.

yumyumpoppycat · 10/06/2016 18:57

Suddenly a fan of joe wicks as he answered my daft question Blush mnwebchat

RoastieToastieReastie · 10/06/2016 19:16

That's exciting yumy! I'm probably the only one but the name of joe wicks brings back memories of my teen heart throb Paul Nicholls (that was his character name in eastenders). It was very weird watching him in 'in the club' on tv recently.

Boobz I meant to say about the cake, what a tricky theme, have you got a photo of it? I don't even know where I'd start with that one.

Yumy I did asylum after I finished insanity. It is harder than insanity IMO. With insanity you have month 1 workouts and you think it can't get any worse, then you do month 2 and you realise month 2 was making it easy in comparison, and then you have asylum! I'd get used to insanity first before doing asylum personally. I still occasionally do the asylum speed and agility as its my favourite from the series. Plus Shaun t is really mean in asylum, I actually don't find him very motivating as I don't like being shouted at, I prefer the nice encouraging Shaun t.

RoastieToastieReastie · 10/06/2016 19:17

Month ONE was making it easy in comparison, not month 2

KatieKaboom · 10/06/2016 20:45

Thanks all for the Amazon discount chat. I've just grabbbed that Asylum kit as will be back in the UK next week so can pick it up. That ladder will at last be mine!!!

Jacksterbear · 10/06/2016 20:49

Eek Roastie Asylum sounds terrifying! Tbh I have never got beyond month 1 of Insanity. I like workouts that I can do, all of, without any breaks etc (as I can't help seeing that as me "failing"... yeah I know I should change that mindset!). And I don't like to move on to the next level of workouts without nailing the first level, if that makes sense. So having never felt like I have totally nailed month 1 I have never attempted month 2. Blush

On which note, poppy Insanity Pure Cardio is my utter nemesis! Never before or since have I felt so close to actually vomitting from exercise!! Envy < vom-face.

only, I know what you mean about the twistyness of Turbofire. I have it on DVD but don't do it often. I find the choreography hard to keep up with, and worry I am going to do something to my back with all the twisting. It's fun to do occasionally though.

Well I have continued with my quest to try a load of new stuff on the secret site this week. Did t25 gamma rip't up today (with mostly 3kgs, dropping down to 3 msg for s couple of moves, cans 1kgs for the superman/rocket man stuff). Then, out of curiosity, I tried a bit of Cize. It was less complicated than I thought it would be. Think having done Hip Hop Abs helped with the dancing choreography. Anyone else tried it?

Eleanor, good work on the weight loss and enjoy the drinks.

Happy weekend, everyone.

OP posts:
RoastieToastieReastie · 10/06/2016 21:38

Jack I'm very untested in Cize, but a) I think I'd feel/look like an idiot, and b) it wouldn't feel challenging (huge laugh at myself there as I'm really not supersonic fit). Was it a good heart pumping workout?

Boobz · 11/06/2016 06:59

3 things:

  1. DH's Officer Hopps cake
  2. I can now do 3 unaided chin ups
  3. I will do Max Interval Plyo as soon as DH gets up
Beachbody Thread 3 (Insanity, T25 etc)
Boobz · 11/06/2016 07:00

Oh one more thing - if I buy Insanity Asylum - who is going to start it with me? I'd like to start it August 1st after I have finished my current 60 days of normal Insanity...

RoastieToastieReastie · 11/06/2016 07:43

Boobz that cake is great, I bet it took ages to decorate.

caitlinohara · 11/06/2016 12:10

Love the cake Boobz! That's great about the chin ups! I am on a wobbly 2 unaided (by which I mean that on the second I cannot pull up from totally straight arms like you're supposed to) but better than the 0 I started out from 7 weeks ago. I still can't do wide grip ones though, even with the assist or a chair it's really hard.

I'm with only, I wouldn't touch Asylum with a bargepole, but am still interested in how other people find it! Roastie does it still have Tanya in it or was she having her baby around then? And is Shaun's husband in it (can't remember his name but he is lovely ..)? (P.S. I immediately thought of Paul Nicholls as well! He looks awful in In The Club, and he still can't act. The years have not been kind...)

Jackster I know what you mean about wanting to nail one thing before going up a level, I was like that with T25 - I couldn't get it out of my head that I needed to absolutely nail TBC and Lower Focus before doing Beta so I really slogged away at it, then did a couple of the Beta workouts out of curiosity (and boredom) and lo and behold they were actually easier than the Alpha ones and I felt really cheated! My friend does Cize and she really likes it but reckons it's no good on its own - it complements other workouts but doesn't feel thorough enough to her.

Week 7 completed now! Week 8 is a Recovery Week, which I do feel like I need. The humbling thing about P90X is that even 7 weeks into it, I still ache every morning. I have never had that with anything else before - usually I find that my body adapts after 2/3 weeks. Presumably this is a good thing!

Enjoy the weekend everyone Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 11/06/2016 18:51

Jackster glad it's not just me! I did cardio resistance today, I had been out and about dropping the kids here there and everywhere all day and a hangover to boot but thought of you guys took some paracetemol and got on with it (was it Purple who has worked out hungover?). So whether it was the paracetemol or the fact I hadn't eaten much (made up for this afterwards!) I found it a lot easier, actually I think I basically paced myself more whereas yesterday I tried to keep up with shaun T for the warm up and ended up with a stitch Blush DD (8) did tell me my pushups were rubbish though and did a demo of proper form!!

Boobz that cake is a thing of beauty well done your dh!

Roastie I am so jealous your dvds have arrived, this happened with 22hc!

Great that you have asylum Katie I am looking forward to maybe trying a couple and hearing how you all get on!

Have a great weekend all

yumyumpoppycat · 11/06/2016 18:51

Caitlin and Booz well done with pullups!

KatieKaboom · 11/06/2016 19:15

YY to amazing pullups success. And it's fascinating to hear about the p90x stuff... it sounds really hard, in good way!

Going to take the plunge and start the Month 2 workouts of Insanity Max 30 this week. Been reading the "dumbbells and diapers" reviews and am petrified! But it's time to move on.

Cone on Ingerland and well done Wales, btw. Football

Purpleraindeer · 11/06/2016 21:03

This thread is so motivational - thanks ladies Star Smile

I've been looking at all the interesting chat on here and felt I couldn't reply unless I had actually done a work out so managed to squeeze in max plyo. Is the first work out of the last wk of insanity mth 2! has gone fast.

Well done for the pull ups boobz and Caitlin. I thought the narrow ones were harder than the wide, so you must be stronger than you think Caitlin?

And i can't remember who was beating themselves up about ab ripper x. That work out is nails. I did it once and there were some moves I couldn't do more than 5 Shock so your 12+ is awesome as far as I'm concerned.

Jackster - you sound like a perfectionist. I still can't do the press ups all the way thru in the max30 work outs and I've been trying for 18mths....

Boobz - would be fun to do asylum together. Anyway I could persuade you to do it sooner than Aug? Mine arrived today and I'm not sure I can wait 6 wks....

Have a good eve all.

onlywhenyouleave · 12/06/2016 08:43

purple I agree, I love this thread too. I feel like I have found my people Grin

Boobz that cake is awesome and must have taken some patience with that icing!

I am going to take a look at the ab ripper workout just to see how scary it is - if you hardcore ladies struggle, I have no chance whatsoever Wink

Had a bit of a blow out yesterday due to the football...one too many fajitas and beers and I only did the t25 stretch workout as compensation! Am hoping that may trigger a 'whoosh' effect Grin

Back on it today - going to do a full combat workout then going for a short slow jog run with friends this afternoon.

RoastieToastieReastie · 12/06/2016 11:44

Only here's hoping for a whoosh effect for you!

Purple I find it super motivational too :)

Katie good luck in month two.

Caitlin asylum doesn't have Tanya in it, I think she was pregnant at the time. It's been a while but I think there's a few of the original insanity crew in there including the blonde woman in insanity (forget her name) near the back who Shaun t tells everyone is in her 40s and has had twins. She is as hard as nails in asylum.

Kenpo X today so I'm substituting for combat but deicded I couldn't wait to try one of my new DVDs so I dived straight in to speed 3 t25 gamma. Wow that was a good workout! Just as well it's only 25 minutes as I couldn't manage any more. I had to do a bit of jogging on the spot but really liked it. I can see it being a great accompaniment to workouts. I liked it more than hc22 workouts.

Purpleraindeer · 12/06/2016 20:14

Have fun with mth 2 Katie. The first week and the last week seem to be the worst for some reason - the middle weeks substitute one of the harder workouts for a 'recovery' one.

Am a bit scared about getting thru this week. It's all loooong workouts or doubles with no rest day. Might have to award myself a rest day anyway as I know I can't workout 6 days straight. 70mins of cardio conditioning then cardio abs felt like a mission this afternoon. Don't dare look to see what tomorrow's torture is!

Only - l hope that whoosh effect works for you! How did you get on with ab ripper?

Roastie - I like speed 3.0. A LOT of burpees tho and they do them so fast.

I've been sniggering at DH today. He did a big endurance challenge yesterday and has been walking like a robot all day. He never gets tired or sore so it's a shock to him and a source of amusement for me! I know - I'm mean. I did make his lunch and wash all his smelly kit tho so I thought that made up for it a bit.

yumyumpoppycat · 12/06/2016 20:32

Aww poor your dh purple Grin Yest I was telling my dp my legs were achey, and he said 'oh where...here?' then squeezed the sore bit gently bit I yelled in pain! He used to be a massuse (I need google chrome back how is that spelt?) and thinks squeezing achey bits is helpful Angry Month 2 insanity sounds like a different ball game than the workouts I have tried so far Shock

fingers crossed for the carb loading effect Only Grin

Really glad you like gamma roastie Grin funnily enough I was wondering while doing the workouts if I preferred them to 22HC, possibly, but I am still gladI bought it and wouldnt want to return it (too late anyway!)
Just did kettlebells today.

There was a thread recently where someone said its pointless doing dvds at home as you will just stop and I thought of our thread and how well we are all doing, you guys defo make me come back to it when I wander off track Wine

yumyumpoppycat · 12/06/2016 20:34

Crikey that post was grintastic
awards self a Biscuit

Purpleraindeer · 13/06/2016 09:37

Did my weekly weigh in. It seems that eating out 3x in 1 week, plus missing 2 work outs isn't a good diet plan and I've gained 2lbs. It was a fun week tho and I'm sure it's all muscle.... Wink max interval circuits later. My legs ache in anticipation!

Boobz · 13/06/2016 10:43

Purple I also had a bad weigh in.... despite being good for 5 days, I managed to not be so good over a birthday and leaving party, and undid all the weight loss from the week before! Grrr...

But I do feel stronger from all my obsessive Insanity + Ab ripper-ing, so am hoping that like you Purple, if I get back on the plan this week, I will strip off the fat to find muscles lurking underneath!

Did Max Cardio Conditioning as was short on time this morning but back to Max Interval Plyo tomorrow plus Ab ripper!

onlywhenyouleave · 13/06/2016 12:38

Purple/boobz sorry for your bad weigh ins this morning Sad that is the reason why I don't own any scales as I just know it would not be good for my weight loss journey!

Purple I didn't do Ab Ripper - I just watched them to see what they are like Grin Maybe something for the future...

Did Plyo fix this morning (one of my faves) and....wait for it.... I did proper non-modified burpees including full push ups on my toes Shock Shock I have never been able to do full push ups before - ok, so I didn't get very low down but it is a huge step in the right direction.

Yum for those on the other thread who say home DVD's are no good - this totally proves them wrong! I used to go to the gym 4/5 times a week to various classes and never been able to do full push-ups!! I think you just need to find what you enjoy and have the reason and motivation to do it Smile

Hope everyone's Monday workout goes well Smile

KatieKaboom · 13/06/2016 12:40

Commiserations on scales-related woes.... I'll be lying on a beach in three weeks and I've managed to gain weight in prep. Yay.

Did that Pump extreme thing again with my adjustable 10kg dumbbells. So 20kg on lunges and squats, 2 x 6kg-7kg on chest and biceps, 4-6kg triceps, 2 x 7-8kg back, 2 x 5kg shoulders. Going to up weights where possible, but I have get another barbell (stupidly left old one behind the last time we moved as I bever used it) so that the leg and back track is more effective. How heavy should it be, does anyone know?

Love all of it but feel the abs track is a breeze after Shaun and Jillian!

Going to finally start Month 2 Insanity Max tomorrow before we fly away on hols. Actually dreading it. Thanks for the wise words purple- will do it in order albeit with travel breaks and try to make it to week 2!

Yum do you have a kettlebells dvd you use? I bought a kettlercise one but haven't ever properly done it. Blush

In awe of your mad cake skillz, Boobz!

Only, do you make your own fajitas? That's my all time favourite cuisine but there are no decent Mxican restaueants where I live.

waves to Caitlin and Roastie and anyone else I haven't namechecked
